Actually there is something I don't really get.It says "have a 100% chance to reset the duration of your Corruption spell on the target".So lets say someone has a 5 point Bane.Supposing tha corruption ticks every 3 sec will the corruption deal damage after the Shadowbolt hit or just reset for the duration of the fight?

Thats the same question I have. If it just reset the duration, it makes this talent absolute trash both in PvE in PvP assuming, that Affli will still deal large chunk of damage from Shadowbolts. Then in PvE, 2,5sec cast Shadowbolt (-0,5 sec from Destruction talent) means Corruption will not tick at all, 3sec Shadowbolt also won`t work, as Nightfall or any faster casting speed will screw timing. And if Drain Life will be usefull in PvP, then its ticks will also interfere with Corruption (1sec tick vs 3 sec tick).

On the other hand, if, at refresh, Corrpution will tick, it will be just too powerful in PvP, as using Drain Life will triple its damage!

shadowbolts doesn't reset the dots anymore its just drain life and haunt spells.
so u can apply the dots and spam shadowbolts and when the ticks are near to run out just apply haunt or drain life spell and siphon life, unstable affliction and corruption will reset.

theory :
the ticks start over from the normal ticks i think and get more powerful the longer it is ticking before the reset of the dots.
then you cast drain life or haunt and start over from normal ticks again

actually only corruption gets refreshed according to the talent description and the other spells only get a 5% increase in spell damage gain.

That theory just might be correct as it sounds like something blizzard would do. However I don't think that the talent is OP if the 5% remains even after having been refreshed. It's a lot of damage, yes, but it doesn't seem to be TOO much damage if you recall that affliction warlocks were not a valuable raid spec save utility which has been for the most part removed.

Too bad they reworked the talent, a couple of patches ago with the stacking damage bonus and lower mana cost on lesser rank shadow bolt this talent could lead to something like this:

This talent is nerfed in 3.0.3 to now only give a base of 5% of your spellpower... That's 50 extra damage for 1000 spellpower. You would be better off getting the 10% extra damage to CoA in Tier 1. Thanks blizz.

BTW, the refresh is nice but nearly useless since corruption is instant cast and you have to use haunt or drain life to refresh it.

The tooltip for this talent (Rank 5/5) has been updated to read:

Your Corruption, Siphon Life and Unstable Affliction spells gain an additional 20% of your bonus spell damage effects, and your Drain Life and Haunt spells have a 100% chance to reset the duration of your Corruption spell on the target.

It would appear to now grant a flat 4% per talent point buff to Corruption, Siphon Life and Unstable Affliction, not a per tick damage increase as the original tooltip indicated (though that was apparently never implemented on the live realms).

To clarify confusion:
Most of the comments on this page are referring to a previous version of this talent, which ramped up the damage on corruption instead of just refreshing it.
With the current wording, this simply increases the spell power coefficient on corruption, UA, and SL by 0.05 and resets the duration on corruption whenever haunt or drain life land.
But won't that lower the dps on corruption? Couldn't it reset just before ticking and go almost 6 seconds without ticking whenever it gets reset?
Nope! Tested: it will wait to reset until right when it hits a tick, thereby not cheating you of any ticks and not lowering DPS.
Example: if your Haunt or Drain Life lands when your corruption has 14 seconds left, it will wait until hitting 12 to jump back to 18, and you will get that simultaneous moment (t=12=18) as a tick.
For raid bosses, since you'll be renewing Haunt multiple times within that 18 second time frame, this means an extra GCD (let's say 1.35 seconds) every 18 seconds, or 7.5% more free time in the rotation. That will show up as more shadowbolts or drain soul, though, which are less dps than DoTs, so the reset function alone on this talent might wind up looking like a 5% dps increase or so (very roughly). Not as sucky as it might've looked at first. :)

After 3.0.8 patch, I notice a bug, such that after Everlasting Affliction proc, I am not able to cast corruption on top again. It says a more powerful version is already on. Have anyone notice the same problem?

In-Game Fixes - December 2009 - 12/14

Everlasting Affliction can now refresh the duration of Corruption on a target when the Warlock casts Shadow Bolt. This talent also refreshes the duration of Corruption with Drain Life and Haunt.
