In patch 2.3 PTR the following change was made:

Improved Seal of the Crusader (Retribution) benefits folded into the base spell. This talent now gives the benefits of the Sanctified Crusader talent instead.

On PTR 2.3 the tool-tip for Rank 7 SotC shows the seal increasing melee attack power by 562 (+88) and JotC increasing Holy damage taken by up to 266 (+47).

With the changes made in Patch 2.3, this talent has become incredible. Think of it as having Berserker Stance without taking 10% more damage.

I've seen the difference in crit rating on my DPS meters whilst testing the effect, and there is a increase on average of about 1.5-2.5% of my average crit rate. So it does look like it works.

If you have a good DPS meter like Recount, you can break down your stats to see your Crit ratings etc in real action. Hence I can see the difference and Imp SoC does work.

No talents that add an additional affect shows that in tooltips. (Though talents that improve an effect does show on the spell tooltip but not that debuff tooltip.)

For Wrath of the Lich King: Seal of the Crusader is no more, its effects have been folded into existing spells where applicable.

The new version of this spell appears to increase the crit chance against the target when any debuff judgement is active. So, the ret paladin now gets the effect of the old Improved Judgement of the Crusader and Judgement of Wisdom in one, bringing more mana and more crit chance for everyone in the raid.

Does this mean that if you have 3 pallies spec'd with this in a raid (2 ret and 1 prot for example), that this will be able to give your whole raid 9% more crit!
Via: Judgement of Light, Judgement of Wiz, and Judgement of Justice. Since Seal/Judgement of the Crusader does not exist anymore.
This talent already seems very poweful for raiding.

Talented in 2nd Tier of Ret Tree costing 3 points.

Side note, with as tight as the prot tree is I seriously doubt you will find anyone talenting this as prot. Plus retribution paladins should be a little more common and not as handicapped as before so there really shouldn't be any reason for them not to grab this.

This is the best comment yet.
And one of the PRIMARY reasons if you raid as Prot not to take this talent.

If you're doing 5-mans, it's a good talent. If you're solo'ing, it's a good talent. Otherwise, it's a waste (for those Ret people) in 99% of 25-man situations.

For Prot, a better talent is Conviction. You can spec out 5% Parry, and 10% less mana usage. Then grab up 5/5 Conviction and skip this talent. For Holy, I'd rather have BoK honestly.

For Ret, you might as well grab it since you'll probably be doing PvP.

The 3% crit mob debuff does not stack with:

Totem of Wrath - Elemental Shaman talent
Master Poisoner - Assassination rogue talent

Does not stack with Totem of Wrath, Winter's Chill, or Improved Scorch.

If you have a mage with either of those, this will not allow them to apply their debuff, and thus not go past 3%, to the possible 5%, losing 2% crit chance. Not a big deal, but something to know.

Another thing to know is it only applies if your judgement hits.

does this thing work against everything?
i am usually protection spec but i took it when i respecced retri a few days ago. it worked against all the trash, but it didn't display as a debuff on the boss. does it work against most bosses?

OK, i am a TANK i went part into ret, now with me and a holy pally in raid i noticed today we are all getting replenishment, does this spell do that? im SURE it does but im just looking for confirmation.

I thought it might be interesting for paladins to know that the application of the HotC effect is considered an 'offensive spell', despite applying a physical debuff.

Will test with more trinkets/proc effects, most importantly Black Magic, before replying here.
