As of build 8982 the Pustulant Horrors aren't any stronger than an average elite mob despite their size. They aren't immune to stuns or slowing effects. They have a knockback that will throw you back about 20 yards and they will leash very easily; 2 knockbacks in the same direction will often cause it to evade back and drop combat.

Found all over the top of Mord'rethar around 65, 59 and on the Ironwall Dam around 70,72.

They're purely melee types (~63k hp) that can be snared and stunned. They don't melee very hard, but they do have a large knockback and as mentioned in previous posts, the main problem is how quickly they leash. Easily kited by ranged classes, but needs to be done carefully to prevent them evading.

As a 78 prot warrior with 19.5k hp, 18%dodge, 14.5%parry, 15.8%block, and 485 defense I was able to solo these while only using about half my cool downs and a pot. Just keep shield block up, and stun when it's not up. Making these stunnable was a big mistake on Blizzard's part IMO. Far too easy for a 3man quest.

Priests, they are NOT immune to shackle. You can dps it down till it gets to you run to where he started at and do it agian. real easy

Soloed as a 79 Protection Paladin. Used Divine Plea and Arcane Torrent to keep up my mana usin Seal of Wisdom and judging Light. Was pretty easy. Just ran between his legs every time he kicked me so he was always kicking back towards his leash zone. Didn't have to pot at all.

You can do it solo as a Frost Mage.

Don't run to far or the Mob will evade so if it comes to you go back once, if it comes to you again blink trough it.

It's very easy it has only 60k HP or somethign around that

They have a super short distance in which you can kite them, estimates to about 60yards. Try going back to where it was originally standing when you kite, shouldn't evade as much

Short leash for these mobs is an understatement, had one reset as soon as he kicked me back. Not very easy to kite without them resetting, but as mentioned, any sort of stun or snare works. I'm a BM hunter and just kept my cat healed and used Concussive Shot and Intimidate while staying closer than normal.

If you have your pick go for the ones that are level 81 instead of 82. Solo'd as a level 80 frostfire mage: used blastwave, dragon's breath, and mirror image.

The knockback can knock you off the wall where you will fall to your death.

They hit a moonkin with 14k armor for about 1000 damages.

The mobs are pretty buggued, rooting them at max range makes them evade. Beeing bumped, makes them evade sometimes too, try to stay close to them if you're rooting them or put your back near a wall if you choose to burst damage them (in solo).

Easy solo as 80 Enhance Shaman with mostly quest blues and a few greens. With the wolves out, never got below 1/2 health. Didn't even need bloodlust. for the 2nd

easy to solo at lvl 80 as a prot warrior iv got 21k health unbuffed and just put commanding shout on.Dident have to use pots only enraged regeration just make sure to eat between fights.was even able to take on the lvl 82's and beat them just keep stunning and sheild slamming and you'l do fine =)
a tip on when they knock back as a warrior every time they knocked me back i just charged them while i was in mid-air and by the time they did it again charge was ready again they only ran away from me once when i used this tactic hope this helps =)

If your class can solo elites, you can solo these guys quite easily.

80 Frost mage.
Just be careful of the knockbacks and blink through them so they don't evade.

Use frost pet for an extra frost nova, use mirror image if needed, for extra dps.

Overall a pretty darn easy fight. :)

Edit: If they do hit you, they hit for about 1600 on clothies..., but frost mages should have ice barrier up.

confirm, soloed by 80 blood dk, opened frost presence, and stand against a wall(it's not the hill, it's the sticks on the wall, which some of them are standing at), easy to solo, remember to heal yourself.

Soloed as a ret paladin. Use hammer of justice and holy wrath stuns as a chance to heal. When he knocks you back you may want to spin him, or you risk him resetting if he pushes you a few times and you go to far.

Soloed as 80 afflic lock, just pulled out vw, health funnel, and dpsed lightly then went all out when vw lost aggro.

I was taking it easy, so it took a bit :P could probably have been done faster.

solo'd as a Marks hunter, just simply kept swapping sides to attack from and planting a freezing trap when my pet got low on HP - mend pet. reset a few times but overall very successful

Easily soloable as feral druid in dps gear. I just kept charging back whenever the knockback happened, kept my Lacerate stacks up, and worked as intended. Just self-buffs and Expertise food (it's what I happened to have on me). I have mostly quest and rep blues, one heroic epic, one heroic Naxx epic (T7.5 shoulders).

I didn't even have to heal. When I popped Berserk, a giant would barely get me below 50% health. If the fight were against a comparable 83 elite... pop Survival Instincts+Barkskin+Frenzied Regen and I could still probably do it.

This quest is phased; I just helped two people complete it, but I couldn't see them. We could both attack the giants, I could mark them and they could see it, I could see the color effects like blue for slowed by mages, but we couldn't see each other, and when they looted, I didn't get any of the money.

An 80 warlock can put down his/her demonic circle at the foot of the horror so when he knocks you back you can teleport right back down without losing health and without having to risk him evading.

Make sure when you fight these guys, to fight them with your back against a wall. Their knockback attack will send you flying and you'll land hard taking 1500-2000 damage. Another thing is make sure to lure the mob your fighting back to the original spawn point cause 2 knockback in a row and the mob will reset back to it's spawn point. Having my 2nd mob do that when he was down to 10% sucks.

As a blood death knight (with quest/AH blues and titansteel destoryer) I was able to solo this.

Put on all my tank gear and got into frost presence. Keep your diseases up, heart strike, and death strike when able. If you're spec'd for sudden doom, toss out a Death Coil when it procs, save your RP for rune strikes. Was able to finish each mob with roughly 80-85% health.

Very soloable as a level 79 feral druid with 22k hp.
Hits for about 600 with Demo roar on.
Used regrowth and rejuv before i fight them, go into cat and pounce>rake>mangle>rip and then go into bear and just keep lacerate, demo roar, feral FF up and you will end up with half your HP at the end of the fight. No pots, trinkets, feral regen used.
Regardless of their level, they are not much to worry about.

The knock back must have gotten nerfed because its maybe 5 yards that you get punted. Not enough to evade.

havent seen a rogue post it...but obviously (as they arent immune to stuns) you can just use cheap shot+kidney shot and eva till they die (chance of them bugging, but if you are fast enough you can just stunlock them all through the fight). You wont even need to blind+bandage.

with a fairly well geared rogue (lvl 200 gear) I found this relatively easy to solo by doing the following:

1) ensure Adrenaline rush is up, this ensures you wont die :)
2) open with CS
3) pop adrenaline rush
4) build 5 combo pts and kidney shot
5) standard rogue rotation
6) if needed pop evasion
7) pop health pot as needed ( i found this wasnt generally needed at all)

Despite what's been said about stuns not working I've been able to stun these things as a Prot Warrior with Concussion Blow, Shockwave and even the Revenge proc.

Speaking of which, easily soloed as a prot warrior, your old Medallion of Heroism is quite useful here, make sure to get in shield block on every cooldown, keep up Thunder Clap and Demoralizing/Commanding Shout and it's no problem

Solo'ed as 79 Feral Druid. Not too tough. Just HOT yourself up, then go in Bear Form and dps him down. I survived with about 35% life left and I'm only wearing questing/leveling gear. And for the record, he appeared to be immune to pounce. Bash, Feral (Bear) Charge and Warstomp stunned him though.

Solo'd the level 82 ones no problem as a level 78 frost tank DK in PVP gear (full Savage Saronite set) as my PVE tank gear was left in the bank by mistake... Health never went less than 50%.

Fairly standard rotation, hitting DS, RT and IF whenever possible. 4888 XP rested with Essence of WG.

Solo'd this today (Level 80 Warlock, Destro specced (PvP). Gear mostly PvP and a few heroic/badge items.)

Their damage is average for their level and being elite (1.3k hits). Opened with Immolate -> Chaos Bolt -> Conflagrate (Aftermath) -> use Shadowfury when he gets to close and move out of his way.
My HP never got below 80% (no Life Tapping). Don't know if it's doable with other Warlock specs, but I assume Demo with Felguard can work as well, considering their damage and the migitation on the Felguard.

For afflic warlocks, they're immune to Fear, but Curse of Exhaustion DOES work

I was pretty full of myself when I soloed 5 of these 82 elites, with life to spare. If you're a mage nuke em a couple of times with a frostfire bolt to slow em down. And then whip out your sidekicks if you have em (mirror image or water elemental etc.). The key for me was slowing em down so i kept hitting em with Slow and alternated blasts of arcane barrage and fire blast. If you find yourself getting killed I recommend investing in some consumable flasks and scrolls to help you out. Definitely can be soloed, but plan out your attack first.

Easily solo'd as an 80 Destro Warlock in 5-man Heroic ToC gear. Down to 50% before it even reaches you and then i used Shadowfury to stun it and hit it some more. Only hit me a few times to go from 100% to about 70% before it died. Not that hard at all.

Solo'd this as an 80 BM hunter. The only trouble I had was when I got a little too full of myself with the lvl 82 pustulent horror who kicked my puppy off the tower. When I faced off with him, I got flustered and got myself killed. But, with my pet up and running, these guys were no problem as long as my back was to the wall. I used frost, snake and explosive traps and then plinked them at range with concussive shot, steady shot and a variety of stings while my puppy tore them apart. Didn't even run OOM until the end of the fight with the lvl 82, then just changed to aspect of viper and kept pinging until I could use kill shot.

Soloed pretty easily as a lvl 79 frost Death Knight. Used Unbreakable Armor, Icebound Fortitude and Death Strike. Just remember to keep diseases up, as well as using Frost Presence.

3.3 has made this quest very easy. Outside the door to Icecrown Citadel, on either side of the stairway, every few minutes a Pustulant Horror along with a swarm of non-elite mobs will attack the crusaders there. Just get a couple hits in and you'll be able to loot the corpses after the crusaders kill them.

Soloed as an 80 Frost Mage with not-so-good gear (GS just under 4k). It took two kills before it got really easy. Here's what I did:

1. Frost Nova them before they get too close, run away, Frostbolt as much as possible, then when they get close again
2. Cone of Cold & Blink away, Frostbolt as much as possible, then go to step 1

I was killing them with around 80% health left over. Their stomp seemed to cancel the freeze effect, so try to either nova before they stomp or after

Edit: I guess I could have just said "use standard Frost Mage tactics"

Description

While it's going to be crucial to defeat the Scourge on the ground, we mustn't neglect the gate itself.

The flesh giants on the ramparts are capable of hurling massive boulders and chunks of ice, inflicting devastating damage to enemy infantry below.

Muster a force and defeat these giants. We need to know just what we're up against in terms of their strength.
