This NPC appears during Brewfest during the attacks that occur every hour on the half-hour at each capital city. You receive one charge of Brewfest Keg Protector for every Dark Iron Guzzler you take down (either by throwing a Complimentary Brewfest Sampler or by hitting them with a mug from Drunken Master) when the Dark Iron Dwarves attack the Brewfest camp at your factions appropriate capital city (Orgrimmar for Horde, Ironforge for Alliance). Once the attack ends, you can talk to the Ticket Redeemer at the event and you will receive one Brewfest Prize Ticket for every charge of the buff that you have on you.

These attacks have been taken out of the event by Blizzard. It is not clear whether they will be added back.

In memory of the rebellious and rambunctious Dark Iron dwarves, here are a few of the rhymes they'd shout upon arrival at Brewfest:

We'll drink yer stout and lager,
Drain all the pints and kegs!
We'll drink and brawl and brawl and drink,

So lift a mug to Coren,

Confirmed, the Dark Iron dwarfs will try to destroy the free kegs, and will shout if they did:
We did it boys! Now back to the Grim guzzler and we'll drink to the <n#> that were injured!

The keg will remain gone and the people who through you free beer will disappear for 5 minuets and then will return back to normal.

The Dark Iron Dwarves are back this year, and aim to cause even more trouble than they did the last! However, this time around rather than receiving a stackable buff that can be redeemed for tickets, you must fend off the ill-natured invaders as they attempt to attack the free brew.

The dwarves don't attack you, per se, but rather they do a knockback effect that will interrupt drinking and fling you back 10 yards or so. To attack the Dark Iron Dwarves, simply use one of the Complimentary Brewfest Samplers that are available at the small tables next to the tents. No need to target the dwarves before drinking... your empty mugs have deadly precision and will find their mark as long as you're at least pointed in the right direction. When you drink, another sampler will be added to your inventory automatically. Simply keep drinking to keep the Dark Irons from ruining the party.

If you and your Brewfest party-going allies are successful in defending the precious booze, the ne'er-do-wells will retreat and leave behind a giant cog that starts a daily quest entitled "This One Time, When I Was Drunk..." that can be turned in for 10 Brewfest Prize Tokens. If the nefarious villains succeed in destroying the kegs, no quest will be rewarded..If you do fail the first time, don't worry - the ruthless ruffians attack every half hour, on the half hour, so take in some more of the sights as you wait for another chance to prove your drunken worth.

Note: Currently the only known method of solving life's problems by drinking.
