In the surrounding area are many hawks that you can target and use the falcon on. Each attack will cost you one grub, that you can find under the rocks. The hawks seem to travel in two's, when you capture one, you aggro another. However, even after the cooldown expires, you may not summon the falcon again if you are in combat. It's best to just run away so you can still capture the hawk later. Also, if there's another person on the quest, in your party or not, they can stay out of combat and capture the second hawk.

You can find the hawks flying around or resting on rocks and other objects. Have your falcon quest item ready and you can capture even the quickly flying hawks.

There are usually a good number around 73,61. I found single ones in air easier, Just use macro or click target and release falcon. If it's two the other will attack. They follow for long way if you run.

And watch out for the giants!

A good way to do this is to run around the field spamming this macro.

Be sure to add the new bird cage the NPC gives you each step of the quest to your hot bar. The previous cages will not work for the subsequent stages.

I recommend grouping for this quest seeing as the hawks generally travel in pairs and you can't run away from them. Grouping with one other individual will allow the other person (who will hopefully successfully remain out of combat) can use their falcon on the hawk thats chasing you. Get it?

Person 1 uses their falcon on hawk #1. Person 2 uses their falcon on hawk #2 which is now attacking person 1. You both get credit for both hawks. Fun.

If your cage doesn't work, remove any worms you might have left over from earlier quests in the chain and re-gather them. They're plentiful so it shouldn't be a problem.

Polymorph and possibly other forms of crowd control, works on the Hawks. So, you can CC the 2nd, run off until aggro drops, and return and capture it as well.

Ever heard "That will happen when Pigs Fly!"? Well, they fly in Northend, at least when you polymorph pig a Fjord Hawk at max range :) As do Penguins, Sheep, Turtles and whatever else polymorphs yer fancy :)

If you pick a flying hawk and launch as it's moving away from you, you snag hawk 1 as hawk 2 is out of aggro range, avoiding being attacked and then being able to snag hawk 2 on its loop back around. Saves a lot of time, makes it very easy.

2 hawks spawn at each of these locations(top of the rocks):

respawn is pretty quick too

when you use your cage on one, any other hawk nearby will aggro to you. your cage is on cooldown + with aggro it's unusable so either bring a friend to get the other one or kill the other one or get away and let it de-aggro then come back to trap it.

If you have assigned your Trained Rock Falcon to an action button for the previous quest The Ransacked Caravan, then you must reassign it for this quest or your falcon will simply ignore you. Everything looks fine - the grub count is correct and the in-range indicator changes as it should, but nothing happens when you use the button.

Feign Death is indeed useful. And if you loot more than 10 grubs, the sparkled of shiny rock is gone until you're below 10 grubs, it sparkles again.

But you can loot first 10 grubs, then start the job. The shiny rocks respawns very fast in some seconds. Loot varies 1-3 grubs.

Too easy, no mob spawn danger this time.

Nice glitch I found today. If you use your falcon on a hawk, and stealth while your Falcon is going to the hawk, you will obtain a "Fjord Hawk" in your backpacks, but the hawk you threw your falcon at won't pop away, so you can keep getting "Fjord Hawks" from the same bird.

If you don't have any means of leaving combat, I recommend just killing the second hawk that attacks after you capture the first. Since the respawn rate is pretty good, it's faster to just kill them than run away, as they seem to have a quite large radius that they follow you for until they reset.

I found it to be a pain to /tar the hawks only to have them fly too far away by the time I clicked the falcon cage, so I started clicking the cage first (so the cursor icon glowed blue when I moused over a hawk) and clicked the hawks as they flew overhead. You might find that to be much easier too.

I flew up onto the trees and just turned around throwing the falcon at the hawks, certainly much easier that way, easy to see everything and you are at about the same height as them

Time spent vs. exp gained, this quest is an utter waste of time. You can kill dwarves nearby for more exp in less time.

Hint for all night elf hunters: Put pet on passive. Use cage on first birdy, second one aggroes. Shadowmeld and hawk leaves you alone. Cage up second birdy.

This is my least favorite quest in the entire game so far. Not tough, just boring and dumb.

Giver at 75,64.
The hawks are in couples mostly, on top of flat rocks 68,63 68,68 71,63 74,65.
Most are in the road that goes west from the giver.
U can see them from very far, they are orange.
Send ur falcon, it will kill one and the other will attack u.
When the little flat stones start to shine again is that u need more food for ur falcon.

I did this easily, only after I found out that I had to drop the falcon cage onto my toolbar, after every time I got a hawk. So 10 hawks = 10 drops of cage onto toolbar. Then it is real easy! This must be a bug! Shouldn't have to drop cage onto toolbar after every kill!

The stones respawn almost immediately, I just stocked up with lots of grubs then killed the hawks. Saved running back and forth each time.

I found these series of quests amusing in a ha-ha way. But as a hunter theres a nice easy way of doing this quest
1) put your normal pet away
2) find a pair of hawks
3) send falcon off for the hawk
4) second hawk attacks
5) feign death
6) second hawk flys back to purch
7) wait for cooldown
8) hit second hawk

oh, and watch out for the storm giant roving around here, he's quite bad tempered.

Shadowmeld is another way for NE's to avoid killing the second bird. Just wait until you leave combat and pick up the mate.

74,59 is the best spot.

You can target one of the ones flying around and just stand still. They fly in circles and will eventually come back into range. If you try this method, you'll want to follow thoikoshi's recommendation and put the cage on your toolbar to see when it's red or white. The rocks are also helpful, but if others are doing the quest, waiting for respawns can take a while.
