in overall, to craft the Jeweled Onyx Panther
will require:

Dawnstone Panther and to make this mount, you need 5 Something Expensive
Emerald Panther and to make this mount, you need 5 Something Expensive
Ruby Panther and to make this mount, you need 5 Something Expensive
Sapphire Panther and to make this mount, you need 5 Something Expensive

so for a total of 20 Something Expensive to make the Jeweled Onyx Panther

the cost of each Something Expensive is 100k. How do i know?

cause the selling price is 25k, and we know the selling price is 25% of the buying price.

so 20 Something Expensive will cost 2 Million gold/2000kg/2000000g to make the Jeweled Onyx Panther

This is one of the new Mists of Pandaria BoE mounts crafted by Jewelcrafters. It will likely require the Jewelcrafter to reach level 600 in the profession. ~~and will cost 神秘寶珠 x5 (which cost 100,000g each if only sold by vendors).~~

UPDATE 08/01/2012: The materials have drastically changed for the JC mounts, thankfully ^-^

Since Mists of Pandaria is still in Beta, these materials and their quantities/pricing are subject to change. I will try to keep this post up-to-date as the beta progresses.

This mount was originally NOT going to be on the list of account-wide mounts in Mists of Pandaria. However, a decision was quite recently made to change this:

to be honest it is a cool idea for a mount, i also think it will cause big drops in other professions in the game
jewel-crafting is a big and costly profession which is also very profitable as well, so everyone will want to make money of this mount or want to get it cheep without all the Fees of crafting or buy value!

It can be noted that while flying on this mount you'll hear a distinct sound that resembles traveling in high-wind speeds with the air blowing in your ear. This sound will cease as soon as you stop forward momentum and just float.

I'm not sure if all the mounts do this, but anytime you start to fly or hit "Q" or "E" while flying your lion will roar, making him a heck of a talkative mount.

im guessing, since it doesn't say anywhere "requires X jewelcrafting to mount" that it can be mounted on any character regardless of whether they have the jewelcrafting profession or not?

JC's will need to grind Cloud Serpent rep in order to obtain the patterns for this mount.

This recipe can be bought for 200g from San Redscale, once you are Honored with The Order of the Cloud Serpent.
He is located a bit south of the Order of the Cloud Serpent area (His coords are 57,44)

The total amount of mats required to make this beauty:

x1 神秘寶珠 (This is sold from Big Keech for 20,000 gold or 18,000 gold each, with the Guild Perk)
x20 原始紅寶石 (Rare quality Red gem)
x4 活化鋼 (Made by Alchemists, by Transmuting)
x2 蛟龍之瞳 (Made by combining 10 Sparkling Shards, an item found through Prospecting)

This is just one of the new amazing Jewelcrafting mounts. However the item does not currently require any Jewelcrafting to actually 'mount' this mount.
The patterns can be bought from San Redscale - once you have the required reputation with The Order of the Cloud Serpent

Sunstone Panther - Requires Honored and 200g
Jade Panther - Requires Honored and 200g
Ruby Panther - Requires Revered and 200g
Sapphire Panther - Requires Revered and 200g
Jeweled Onyx Panther -Requires Exalted and 200g

This mount requires:
600 珠寶設計 to make(but not to use!)
1 神秘寶珠 sold by 大基奇 in The Vale of Eternal Blossoms for 20,000 gold (18000 gold with guild perk )
20 原始紅寶石 which you can find in numerous containers and get from 採礦, 勘探 and transmuting.
4 活化鋼 which are made by using 鍊金術. There are two spells that can make 活化鋼. One requires 6 延齡錠 and has a 1 day cooldown (轉化：活化鋼) while the other requires 3 延齡錠 and 3 和諧之魂 and has no cooldown (鋼鐵之謎).
2 蛟龍之瞳 which are sold by 丹奇 in the Shrine of Seven Stars and by 克里斯桃 in the Shrine of Two Moons . They each sell them for 1 和諧之魂. They can also be created using 10 閃亮裂片 which are found while 勘探.

This panther mount combined with日長石獵豹, 藍寶石獵豹, and 翠玉石獵豹 creates the slightly larger 瑪瑙石獵豹. Note that to create the 瑪瑙石獵豹 all 4 panthers (日長石獵豹, 藍寶石獵豹, 翠玉石獵豹 and 紅寶石獵豹) must be in your bags UNUSED.

The recipes requires reputation with 雲蛟衛 and 200 gold, each.

This costs about 24k to make in my server, just like the other panthers. Be careful of using all panthers to make a Jeweled one as those have been duplicated recently, lowering their price under material cost..which is just sad (I made my own).

After seeing their flying animations I knew I just had to have one of the panthers. After debating for a decade and a half, I chose the Ruby one over the Sapphire one, and I have yet to have regrets. :D

The thing that sold me was that it can fly and be a land mount at the same time, and like the gryphon mounts, you can also mount it in water.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but when it's night time in-game the mount appears to change color slightly. It almost looks tarnished/scratched. Submitted a screenshot =)

I used to wonder why you couldn't make a Purple or an Orange panther, but then it dawned on me...Did anyone else notice the Voltron reference with these mounts? Anyone who remembers the 5 Lions would remember the lions were colored Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, and Black!
