I'm surprised you didn't follow up with this math:

Rain Poppy, Green Tea Leaf, Silkweed, Snow Lily, Desecrated Herb: avg 10 shadow pigment per stack, ~1.1 misty pigment per stack.

Fool's Cap: avg 12 shadow pigment per stack, 2 misty pigment per stack.

Golden Lotus is not millable as of MoP launch (it was during some part of MoP beta).

After the change to spawns in 5.1, while you may get twice as much Misty Pigment from Fool's Cap, you can harvest twice as much of Green Tea Leaf in that time.

With the new lowered spawn rate of the Fool's cap,Don't it seem like farming up a bunch of the Green Tea Leaves be better for you if you are trying to make the Darkmoon cards. In my mind it would be easier because green tea leaves are al over and there is a lot to farm it is not as hard to come by as the fool's cap is. Just really asking your thoughts on the matter

Can someone explain why if you get 1-3 pigment with a 25% chance, or 1-3 pigment with a 50% chance, from 5 herbs, your average gain of pigment from a stack of herbs is ~1.1 / 2.0, not 2.0 / 4.0?

I mean, average of 1,2,3 is 2. 2 by 25% is 0.5, 20 / 5 is 4, 0.5 by 4 is 2, isn't it? With same maths, it is 4 for Fool's Cap. Why then people say here that you should get 1.1 pigment per stack from normal herbs and 2.0 for Fool's Cap?

Edit: My statistics show 250 rare pigment per 2500 common pigment miled from normal herbs, so that proves the fact data above (1 pigment per stack) is correct. However, then the "1-3 pigment" shown on wowhead must be incorrect?

Apparently, the chance for this to proc is now ~10%. I had thought I was getting fewer of these that I should these days, so I milled 670 herbs (134 mills) of non-Fool's-Gold Pandarian herbs. I got 644 Shadow Pigment and 68 Misty Pigment.

Milled 615 丑帽菇 today and they turned into 363 暗影顏料 and 61 迷霧顏料.
This means that the average droprate is 0.59% for 暗影顏料 and 0.1% for 迷霧顏料, which amounts to 118 暗影顏料 and 20 迷霧顏料 per stack of 丑帽菇.
So the old drop rates of 11-12 暗影顏料 and 2 迷霧顏料 for the old stack sizes are still in effect, at least for 丑帽菇.
