The Hearthstone is a unique (you can only own one) item that has a 10 second cast time, with a 60 minute cooldown timer on it. This timer is not shared with the Shaman spell, Astral Recall (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=556).

If you delete this item from your inventory you can get a new one from any Innkeeper by asking him/her to "make this inn your home". If you place your Hearthstone into your Bank, you will not be able to use it out in the world, and you can not ask an Innkeeper for a new one.

Amazingly the hearthstone comes in very handy in combat also. If u are a healer and u are under attack from any class that can interupt (Especially a rogue) u can use the hearthstone to perform a fake heal.

This works because the animation is the same as a the animation when healing and although nearly all people have cast bars nowadays many attackers still dont read the spell being cast and just react to the animation by interrupting the spell.This can save u in many situations as they waste thier intertupt moves on u.

There's a bug with Hearthstone when you're a Mage.

When you're like a half second from getting teleported by the Hearthstone, cast the spell Blink and you'll get the Hearthstone on cooldown, but you wont get teleported.

Try it out, but you'll probably get mad because your Hearthstone will get on cooldown without any teleport. But it's worth a try.

I don't see how this information is useful in anyways, but I thought I would throw it out there...

Back in the World of Warcraft alpha, hearthstones used to be HUGE stones all around the game (each zone had one) they had the same skin and model as meeting stones.

BUT that's not the cool part! The cool part is that when you pulled your main map up (push M) there would be little flags on each zone.
Clicking a flag on the map would cause the 'hearthstone' in the zone you choose to teleport you to it! How fun! To bad Blizzard had to change it. :(

They worked a lot like Flight Paths. Each zone you visited, you could "activate" that Hearthstone to teleport (or how they have it now, fly to) later.

Your Hearthstone has a shared cooldown with the Ruby Slippers that drop in the Opera Event in Karazhan. So, if you want an extra bag slot, delete your Hearthstone, use your shoes. Just click your heels together 3 times and say "I need a life"

Just wanted to add one more thing that u can do with HS.

Month ago i was playing on my 28 lvl lock in Durnholde keep in hilsbrad foothills. I was fighting 2 mobs, one caster and one warrior, doted, feared them both and realized i done the q in the hold and was OOM and almost OOH so i started using HS when i saw the melee one running up to me. Before striking me he died from DOTs. Second one, the caster started casting Shadowbolt. I thought that i will teleport before his shadowbolt hit's me, alas hit of shadowbolt matched the casting of my HS. A loading screen apeared. My home was set to Hammerfall. Loading screen disapears and a dead body of my lock falls in the middle of Hammerfall Inn... (I lulzed a bit imagening such situation in a real setting :D) then i used souslstone and got up like nothing happened :}

Conclussion : You actually can teleport dead with HS :P

As a non-native english speaker, the concept of Hearth (NOT heart, as in a beating heart) was foreign to me, and I went and looked it up. Merriam Webster offers the following definition:

- a brick, stone, or concrete area in front of a fireplace
- home (one's place of residence)
- a vital or creative center
- a symbol for home or family life

I guess a combination of the first and second is what is intended here. I wonder how many people run around referring to it as a Heartstone.

One more thing to note when using your hearthstone: If you accept a summon while using your hearthstone, you end up at your hearthstone location instead of the summoning location and embarisingly have to ask for another summon.

You used to be able to leave wintergrasp via the 'leave wintergrasp' accessed around your minimap, without consuming your hearthstone but although you can still leave this way, the hearthstone cd is now consumed.

It always tickled me to see people using hearthstone, taking flightpath, travelling to the boundary and flying, going all the way to the keep (if you controlled but didnt need to hand in quests) to use the portal or making/requesting portals when the easiest way was to click the above mentioned method taking you to the (99.9% of cases) home set location of Dalaran.

Had an interesting bug with Hearthstone today on my Warlock. Was HS:ing to Dalaran and for some reason it decided to instead drop me off in Zul'drak... literally drop me off ( to my death ) like it was a transporter malfunction.
I'm an engineer but I've yet to aquire the Northrend teleporting gadget ( or any of the other ones ) so no, I didn't mix it up with it.

I've run into yet another strange issue with the Hearthstone.

I was in the Undercity (as Alliance; I was there for a quest) killing Deathguard Elites and trying to get out of there. Unfortunately they just kept respawning so my poor mage could never get a teleport started. After about six of them I got tired of it and hit Hearthstone. When I arrived in Light's Hope Chapel, several guards there promptly attacked and killed me. I have yet to figure out why, and I'm not particularly interested in trying it again.

I just figured out a cool little trick, I needed to go back to Stormwind really quickly whilerep grinding with the alliance vanguard in howling fjord, My hearthstone was set to Dalaran where I could easily portal to SW, I thought that it would be cool if I could warp to dalaran while still having my hearthstone set to Howling Fjord. I got an idea, I walked into the inn at westguard keep and spoke to the innkeeper, I clicked set as you new home but didn't click the confimation just yet, I began casting my hearthstone and in the tiny amount of time it takes between the cast to complete and it to start teleporting you I clicked the accept button, the loading screen popped up and I appeared in dalaran, I checked my hearthestone, but as I had hoped for it was set to Westguard Keep, something funny some of you guys might find useful.

Anduin has one going straight to Jaina's tower in Theramore, and he used it to escape Ironforge when the Dark Irons took over it in The Shattering: Prelude to Cataclysm.

I dont see why Blizzard cant allow you to carry a few of them to teleport to other Inns. Ultima Online had stones where you cast your spot and you can teleport but you use them up.

What would happen if you were to toss your hearthstone? Would you get another one once you talk to an Innkeeper or are you screwed for any teleports of a hearthstone?

Anyone else experiencing weird behaviour regarding stone and starting area inns? I have a newly created DK and I started doing all the quests on her starting from level 1. So I go to Kharanos, set the hearthstone to the inn there. Then I go to the dwarf starting area and do the quests. Next time I log back to game, travel somewhere else and use the hearthstone, it is set to the dwarven starting point in Coldridge Valley, not Kharanos. And after I go do some quests in Ammen vale (the draenei starting zone), the same HS that I reset to Kharanos (brewfest time so why not), it is now pointing to Ammen vale.

My hearthstone macro so I can have them on my bar without taking up multiple slots.
1 = left click
2 = right click
3 = wheel click.
I recommend replacing hearthstone with 旅店老闆的女兒 if you've gotten the dwarven archaeology toy, allowing you to delete your heartstone freeing up a bag space.

Or whatever replacements/reordering you'd like to do.

If you want to put a lot of your teleports/hearthstones on a single Action Button, you can use the following macro:

/use Lunar Elder's Hearthstone
/use Greatfather Winter's Hearthstone
/use Peddlefeet's Lovely Hearthstone

You can replace any of the above teleports/hearthstones with any other teleport/hearthstone you wish. For example is Dreamwalk the Legion teleport for Druids but it can easily be replaced with Death Gate for Death Knights and so on.

If you want to show off the animations from the different hearthstones, you can click 1, 2 or 3 and cancel the teleport just before it takes off. As long as you don't activate the teleport itself (which takes 10 seconds to trigger minus your current haste-modifier), you can do the associated animations as many times you like in a row. Enjoy ;)

No macros here. I just use Opie addon. No stones on any action bars. Just assign to a keybind & all open on a ring mid-screen :)

Hearthstone, Dalaran Hearthstone, Draenor Hearthstone, Flight Masters Whiste, Repurposed Fel Focuser / Oralius' Whispering Crystal / Crystal of Insanity, Dreamwalk, Deathgate, Astral Recall, Create Healthstone, Conjure Refreshment, Mole Machine, Arcane Intellect. & Rez spells - all on the 1 ring!

I only have out of combat spells in Opie, but that's just personal taste. Don't see any advantage of having in-combat spells in it. Those spells are still keybound & on the normal action bars.

Obviously some of them are class specific & will only show on the class that can cast / use them.

Love this addon! Especially on Mage with a ring for Teleports / Portals too. Saves soooo much action button space.

& always have a ring for professions, that's built-in by default.

It's important to know that some classes like Deathknights do not always spawn with a in their bags. Some other people accidentally delete their hearthstones. If this happens to you just stop by any innkeeper and ask them to "Make this inn your home" Magically a will appear in your bags and you can of course change it to whatever inn you want across the lands. Keep in mind that the base hearthstone does share a cooldown with all other innkeeper hearthstones, but does not share a cooldown with special hearthstones such as the 達拉然爐石, 要塞爐石, or other teleportation items.

I've noticed, rather then once you've done the new starting zone to get to lv10 with a new (non-additional race) character, even though you end up in stormwind regardless of what race you pick, the hearthstone always sets itself to Anvelmar for some reason, instead of stormwind where it should be.
Always make sure you run to the nearest innkeeper when doing the starting zone.

Now that the 達拉然爐石 and 要塞爐石 are toys they just need to make this a toy so I do not have to keep deleting it from my inventory.

A nifty but widely unknown feature of the Hearthstone is that when you use it and you arrive at your destination, your character will appear in the precise position it was in when you set your Hearthstone.

In short: remember to position your character to face the nearest exit when you set your Hearthstone location, and you'll save a second turning around every time you use your Hearthstone!

Just a little thing a friend taught me. When you go to an inn and choose "Make this in your Home" to set your hearthstone. It not only remembers the inn but also where you are standing. if you are standing on a table when you choose to "Make this inn your home" then every time you hearth back you will be standing on the table.
