Huge upgrade from the Yeti, however for some reason this doesn't feel like a reward for a mount collection achievement, especially not for a 500 one. Rather it feels like a pvp mount, or a mount you get from a random dungeon final boss. These big number achievements should get a special reward, this just feels too meh for the 500 achievement.

Regardless of what mount we get, a 500 mount achi seems incredibly low considering there are about 750 mounts obtainable now (not counting tcg/store)…before dragonflight releases hundreds more

I don't know why everyone gets bent out of shape that they use a recolor for the achievement mount. Blizzard has done that since the 50 mount achievement.
I still remember logging on to ptr for burning crusade and flying around shattrath with the white drake and people loved it, the color made it unique.

Just wanted to add that I've used this on beta. I think it looks great.

Also this mount increases swim speed while mounted as well as is a ground mount and a flying mount.

So, here are a few things that I've found out in the past week or so and I thought I would share. First of all, you can see the new mount on the PTR! It doesn't look like it did back when that first video was submitted on here, so they're obviously still working on it. It now has a celestial look to it. If you currently have over 400 mounts and want to know if you have enough to count toward this mount, just copy a character over to the PTR that has the highest amount of mounts that count for it. If you don't have enough, it should tell you an approximation of how many ARE counting toward it. However, I don't think it was counting all of the mounts because in the live retail version, it showed a much higher number than what it showed on the PTR... so keep that in mind if you are only a few away on the PTR.

Please know that I am just an addicted collector and am only providing information for people. I am not promoting or bashing the mount in any way. If they change the mount again, though, I will definitely provide an update! I have MANY guildies, friends, and family members that are collecting mounts right now and ask me about the different mounts and achievements. Since we were at one time told there would not be another achievement for anything above 400, this mount and the achievement are obviously of interest to many of us.

Now that we are on the soulshape-y, blue/ethereal version that made it to live, I figured I'd just say: I love it! Maybe that is still an unpopular opinion, but hear me out.

It flies (bonus, not all of the other mount achievement mounts fly), it swims (extra bonus), it stands out, is unique and super duper cute. I think it's fitting for a 500 mount achievement.

Though, someone explain why it looks like it's dressed like a cute version of Deathwing. I would love to have a non-armored version.

Fun fact! If you want to see the Otter's "Real color" scheme underneath the ghostly aura, take him to Uldum or Vale of Eternal (BfA phase) and fly underneath the Great Worm From Beyond, the spell effect makes his ghostliness dissapear :D

Sadly it seems bugged with Glyph of Stars on my Druid. As soon as I mount up I loose my astral effect, but go a bit blue... shame as we would be matching!
All other mounts I keep my astral effect.

This mount is actually a decent reward from the 感謝你載我！ achievement.

It can fly
It swims as fast as any other aquatic mounts (波賽達斯韁繩, 池塘刺棘水母, 暗水魟魚, etc.)
It appears to benefit from mount equipment (such as the 充氣式坐騎鞋)

The other three other mounts that could both fly and swim fast were 隱秘原基水母, 深星珊瑚蟲 and 閃亮原基水母. However, these do not benefit from the mount equipment.

This is essentially your BiS traveling mount.

Fun fact! Using 萬世卷軸 whilst already riding 天外巨獺運輸者 will remove the spectral/spirit form and use the mounts original color model. Dismounting and remounting will return the mount back to its spirit form.

this mount is.. okay. considering it takes years to collect so many mounts i am a bit disappointed that once again we don't really get anything that unique. plenty of other otter mounts that are easy to get. i really wish that for such a big achievement we could get a mount with a more unique and rare model. it would be amazing to actually get a fully unique model for once instead of most of that going in the shop. all in all almost all of these achievement mount rewards have been disappointing for one reason or another and i hope we can eventually get at least 1 unique mount for all the long time we've spent grinding and farming. it would surely be a lot more motivating for everyone.

Currently this mount cannot utilize skyriding. And if you have skyriding toggled on, it only acts as a ground mount. /sadface
As someone who REALLY wants to have access to both steady & skyriding WITHOUT having to use the 5-second cast, I was hoping I could keybind this while skyriding was toggled on. But nope. Hopefully they modify how they did this because there are so many situations where having steady flight is more useful that having to use Skyward Ascent

It's disappointing that this seems to be the only mount that can't skyride. I love skyriding, it's so much quicker to get from A to B. When skyriding was announced for all mounts, I was really excited to use some mounts outside of the default dragonriding ones, this one in particular. Felt great to earn it and couldn't wait to use it more often. But finding out it's the only one that can't skyride? I hope they change that soon.

I really(!) dislike the 5 sec. cast time to switch between the two different flightstyles. Okay, to be more precise: I hate it!
Hey Blizz: Why don't you make it ... say ... a 30 sec. cast? Just because you could and just to piss me off? Ever heard of "quality of life"?
I don't expect to insta mount and zoom off with the speed of light, but seriously: WHY the 5 seconds and not just a normal CD?

So anyway, I was certain that this mount would fix my problem, since the 天外巨獺運輸者 cannot skyride.
But sadly, it cannot fly at all when skyriding is enabled. Doh!

Not only is this mount steady flying only, it's also currently only 310% speed instead of the new faster steady flying. Deeply disappointing to me as someone who popped the achieve in the first days of the war within. Currently only useful for ground and aquatic use as every other steady flying mount is faster.

Just to add to the list of annoying things about this mount - I have switched to steady flight for a round of herbing today only to find that it's the only mount that ever pops when you use the "Use Random Mount" button. Obviously I have a big collection, I like to use them!

The toy 調查鱷的懷錶 has a cool interaction with otterworldly ottuk carrier. It makes the mount look solid and normal but keeps a glowy blue trail behind it.

1: Why no skyriding? (Of course)
2: Why is it slower then 410%?
3: If it can't skyride, why doesn't it normally fly when I have skyriding active. This way you could at least save switching..

Let this mount be max fly speed when not skydiving and enable skydiving club here - hope we get a fix soon. I got it today and was like cant fly? But i read comments online and was like ok still worth it with new max steady flying speed... UNTIL i got a second dissapointment of it being slow steady flying. Add few lines of code and fix this Blizzard ;)

Pretty disappointing reward for 500 mounts.

It cannot skyride because, simply put, it lacks skyriding animations. The only way for it to get skyriding is if someone on the art team actually makes animations specifically for this mount (considering it's the only flying otter currently).

Having said that, it could be considered an interesting design choice if they made it the only mount that can static fly even when you have skyriding enabled. That would make it a cool and functional reward for mount collectors.

Alas, that is not the case. It's a very disappointing reward that will only fly if the player decides to enable static flying, but that isn't ideal for the majority of people. All you can really do with it is flex to other people in instances and cities, which is lame.

Utterly disappointed in Blizzard. I spent years collecting and invested a week to sprint to the finish line to receive this mount. Not to mention the money I have spent in the store. Only to get a mount that does not skyride. It mentions nothing in the mount description stating no sky riding. It says it changes with your riding skill and location. I think it's total crap that I had to read this in the comments rather than it being mentioned in the riding capabilities. It would have swayed me in a different direction. Excuse me for automatically assuming this mount is like every other mount in the game. Also, you can't fly at all in sky-riding. You still have to switch styles to be airborne. Once again another disappointment from Blizzard. Number 501 is nothing but a brick. USELESS!

Started counting mounts recently. And the main cause (for which I'm grateful to Blizzard) was WoW's 20th Anniversary Celebration. It gave us a lot of lovely activities especially the Mount Mania. I've got to know the Mount Spy addon and the Match Mount game when you camp some rare mob with a bunch of dudes. The thing is that it wasn't hard and long to get 500 having 200+. It took four and a half months to get here. And it was very exciting I must say. So, cheer up and have fun reaching the achievement! Because of the process not the goal.

Finally got mine today, been aiming to end this grind for a while now and happy to be done with it, but this still cant skyride and that is still a huge dissapointment, no way they still havent gotten around to animating this mount to fly properly

still to this date this Mount can not Skyride.
We are not talking about some super niche Mount or unique model.
It's the 500 Meta Mount.

Im a huge Otter fan and would use this Mount as my Main Mount with 600+ collected, but passing on Skyriding is just suboptimal...

I write a Bug Report once in a while and I hope at some point they finally fixes this, i dont care if the animations are wonky, they are for most mounts.

Completely pointless to have this mount at 310% flying speed. You are handicapping yourself if you use it. For the highest meta mount collection achievement, it is a hinderance to use. I love otters and I love the look of this mount, and I was so excited to get the achievement only to see the 310% flying speed, and no skyriding. Why Blizzard continues to put these arbitrary limitations on stuff that they KNOW players won't appreciate (You cannot tell me they restricted this mount so heavily and thought that the community would see it as a positive) is beyond me. Let us enjoy our achievements please. It is not OP to have this mount swim, have mount equipment, and fly at full speed. And even if it was OP... good! 500 mounts is a LOT of mounts.

So, bad news.

For those hoping that Blizz would eventually fix what must have been an oversight stopping this mount from Sky-riding, they have taken action! And that action is to explicitly label this mount in the mount journal as "Steady Flight only". ie, literally telling the players that no, they will NEVER fix this mount.

So it is now, and will FOREVER remain, useless as a flying mount (given it's slower in steady, and will not skyride, and doesn't even offer the consolation prize of being a steady mount you can use while set to skyriding)

So much for rewarding players for the effort of collecting 500 mounts...

In the Legion remix, you cannot pick up the Bronze clouds on this wee beastie, it simply flies straight through with no effect whatsoever.

Just got this mount after a lot of hard work. It's adorable! However, the lack of skyriding is problematic. It's similar to the Wondrous Wavewhisker, but worse. The Wondrous Wavewhisker can use skyriding, but can't do underwater speed if skyriding is on. This lil guy can't do skyriding at all. :(

Still no skyriding enabled for this mount in Midnight 12.0.1, however Blizzard is more than happy to add the new Groveglider mounts to the in-game shop which seem to have unique flying animations, so unsure what the excuse for this mount is now.
