The first 精妙火花 will be earned automatically during a campaign quest to unlock the Engine of Innovation.
Once the season begins on Dec 12th, a second quest will award a second spark, with a new step every 2 weeks until the player has earned a total of five sparks.
At that point, players will be able find 瓶裝精華 from virtually any activity to create more. They're meant to be rare though, and modeled after Legion legendaries, with the intent of players finding one every couple of weeks.

I didn't have the quest to get a Spark of Ingenuity on my alt that didn't level up through the main campaign. Turns out you have to complete the Valdrakken main story questline that ends with helping Chromie, even if you leveled up in alternative ways. Then you can get the quest to get the Spark of Ingenuity .

Alright for people that maybe made the same mistake as me and cant start the quest.

I was leveling my alt on adventure and did all the main story quest (so I thought) but checked out the portal to Murloc time and viola there still was a main campaign quest in that time zone/phase after that I completed the follow up quest and got the popup again went to main capital turned in the last quest and everything popped up for me.

not sure how, but i was able to pick up and complete the quest for my spark without having to complete the zone campaign quest. level 67. i flew to valdrakken and grabbed alex's quest and the quest to get the spark and was able to complete and receive my spark.

side note- this must have been fixed. checked on my lvl 60 sitting in waking shores. flew to valdrakken and can pick up the quest for it

After completing the campaign once on your account, your alts can go straight to Valdrakken at level 60+ and do the chain starting with 迅速啟動？迅速啟動！. They don't need to be max level.

These sentences are very confusing, do you get a spark every week when the season launches? "Every two weeks ... will become available"
Or do you get one every week when the season launches? "Completing ... each week will grant"

No wonder different guides say different things.....

There's a catch up in place already implemented
I was leveling up my druid today and i had both the first and second Spark quests available for me. (the second one becomes available once you complete and obtain the first spark)
So do not feel the pressure to login your level 60 alts every other week to do the spark quest since you can do all the ones that you missed on the same day.

If your first character has done the 迅速啟動？迅速啟動！, which will unlock the use of the engine of innovation, the rest of your characters will be able to do it as well.
you don't even have to be lvl70 for it.

You can still tame the Silver and Grey-Blue ones inside the Seat of the Triumvirate dungeon without using any meat. You just can't tame them on Mythic difficulty.

after getting 6th spark, the ach reward is something called Spark Detector so i assume it would be random spawn around the world after that?

I have a question regarding this. If i'm not a craftsman, is there any reason to do this? I have 5 or 6 craftsman and an army of alts who gather, some skin and mine, some herb and mine, supplying my craftsman alts. Is there any point in doing this questline? Is it a showstopper if I don't do it? Will it keep me from doing things in the overall questline?

Now that you can farm these as of 10.0.5:
Rares now spawn on a fixed schedule, one rare will spawn every 30 minutes.
There are total of 28 rares in this cycle, so the full rotation takes exactly 14 hours.
This could be very useful as we know that rares also have a chance to drop a bottled essence and this might be the easiest way to "farm" them.

Since 10.0.5 this has been updated! As long as you haven't started ANY of the quests on an alt, after completing all 5/6 quests on 1 char, you can do 1 quest and get 5 sparks at once in 1 quest, if you already started the quest line on alts, then you have to complete it all.

I can confirm that the bottled essences used to make these can drop from regular mythic dungeons (M0). Just had one drop from RLP.

Once you've run out of the 5 allotted sparks from the campaign, it's just a drop you'll rarely see.

1. Best way to farm 瓶裝精華 currently is from the super rares spawning around the clock in 30 minute intervals.

This amazing weak aura (not mine, all credits to the author) will tell you the 3 soonest spawning, in how many minutes and their locations. It will also let you click the "waypoint" button to set your waypoint arrow to point to the next soonest rare.

I got a 瓶裝精華 on my 4th kill on my 1st character, and one on my 1st kill on my 2nd character. On my 3rd character, got it on around 21st kill. Luck varies, but I do wonder if it's more likely to drop for a character that has no sparks at all (my 1st two don't, 3rd one has a spark).

2. It can also rarely appear in world quests.

This may be entirely luck based. My friend currently has one up from 法鑄造物 on one character. No one else we know has it up at the moment. Anecdotal, but there you go.

3. 12 Vault Tokens

If you get desperate, remember how if your vault sucks you can choose 6 tokens and then buy a socket from a vendor? That same vendor (next to the great vault) also sells a 瓶裝精華 for double the socket cost (12 tokens).

4. 瓶裝精華 can drop from m+ and raids but the drop rate is really, really low.

This is the worst source.

In 10.1 and beyond, the usage for Spark of Ingenuity is a bit odd: the base item level for epic crafts crafted with these is limited at 395, way worse than 附魔幼龍暗焰紋章 (408) which, insult to injury, applies to rare crafts so don't even require a Spark! Of course, the Spark system has been replaced by 暗焰火花, but these are time gated for one every two weeks.

So what to do with Spark of Ingenuity if you still have them in 10.1? You can still set orders with Ingenuity, so the following available:

Skillups: most Spark crafts give 3 levels baseline, great to level professions.
Transmog: if the character matches the weapon/armor class (Engineering helmets included without Engineering).
Trinkets: because Whelpling Crests do not apply to trinkets, crafting an Alchemy or Scribe trinket can be a decent upgrade (though wq trinkets ain't bad!).
Infusion (Renown): you can still get 洪荒注能 through Renown. You can craft Embellishments and/or engineering wrists you don't want to use Shadowflame on yet.

So, you can get 5 old sparks on your alts. However they can no longer be looted from dungeons, raids or any other activity.

(Edit): Having finally played around with the Crafting Order interface, I now realize what these items can be used for. For a gatherer to have someone else craft an item needing on of these items, the gatherer used this item (and other reagents as well) when ordering a new piece of gear to be crafted...

Are these still obtainable at all? I don't have TWW (on purpose) but still want to level up the DF professions of my toons, and some of the best or coolest recipes they can make seem to require these still.

Thought I'd level all my DF professions for 龍族全能大師 and most require Sparks towards the end.

I believe only the season 4 sparks, 覺醒火花, are farmable now and season 1-3 sparks no longer drop from most sources.

To get one 覺醒火花, you need to combine two 破裂的覺醒火花. Flightstones are no longer needed.

破裂的覺醒火花 drop from a bunch of end-game sources, but for me I found the quickest and simplest way was to go to Dawn of the Infinite dungeon on Heroic, clear all bosses, then port out, reset, and go again. It took me about 20 minutes for one full clear of DotI. The dungeon was trivial to solo on a 670 character.

The chances of a 破裂的覺醒火花 dropping from each boss seems to be guaranteed, but I believe there is a limit/cap, possibly related to splinters obtained during Dragonflight. For example, on one character, I obtained one splinter from every boss until i had 20 (10 Sparks), then they seemed to no longer drop. On another character, I obtained 26 splinters before they stopped dropping.

There may be faster ways, but this was what worked for me so wanted to share.

If you can't get the Sparks to load into your recipe at the tool bench, it is because you have too few sparks in the "first" bag slot (back or bank). Move your sparks into a single bag slot and retry the recipe.
