Will be the first of a 4-step Achievement chain to collect vanity mini-pets, also known as noncombat pets or small pets. You can get these pets from a range of sources, including rare drops, the WoW:TCG, vendors, holiday events, and more.

Visit WarcraftPets.com for detailed guides on where to obtain every small pet in the game, along with a great community of pet lovers if you find that's your thing. :)

You only have to get 1 small pet to unlock this achievement, so if you have enough more when you first launch Wrath, you'll be automatically bumped past this step of the chain. Noncombat pets (along with mounts) have been made into spells that you will learn (1-time use) from the item you would first obtain, so if you've held back on collecting vanity pets in the past due to the massive amount of bank space they can consume, this gives you two new reasons to start!

Does anyone know if there's a mount version of this achievement chain?

I enjoy collecting mounts, but I've never really cared much for vanity pets.

Well, after searching through the beta's "companions" list, I've found quite a few pets that don't match up with the current available pets. Could these be the new pets in WotLK?

The following list links to the models, if possible. If there is no model in the database I've linked to the spell name.

Pet Fish Apparently it's been around since the original beta. Probably not coming with WotLK.

Baby Shark Confirmed as a WotLK pet.

As an alliance you can easily obtain your first one from The Crazy Cat Lady in Elwynn Forest who sells four vanity pets (different colored cats) for 40 silver each.

The wotlk versions of the Christmas helper pets don't show them as teaching a spell but staying hte same as they used to be, does anyone know if they affect these pet achievements?

Are achievements retroactive? I already have about 40+ vanity pets and unless WOTLK offers a new vendor that sells some new pet, I may not ever find another one. They're getting fewer and further between :)

Now it is the easiest and first to be done achievement in the game. Start a character. Open the mailbox. Retrieve the pet that Breanni sent. And right click it to get the achievement.

As of the current (15-Apr-2012) Mists of Pandaria Beta Build (15589) The following Pet Achievements have been remove from the General Tab:

Can I Keep Him?
Plenty of Pets
Plethora of Pets
Shop Smart, Shop Pet...Smart which awards Stinker (Reeking Pet Carrier)
Lil' Game Hunter which awards Little Fawn (Little Fawn's Salt Lick)
Petting Zoo which awards Nuts (Nuts' Acorn)
Menagerie which awards Brilliant Kaliri (Brilliant Kaliri)
Littlest Pet Shop which awards Celestial Dragon (Celestial Dragon)

That leaves the future of obtaining these pets associated with the achievements uncertain. There is a section in the achievement screen for "Pet Battles" but it's too soon to tell exactly what will happen. If you are close to finishing one of the achievements and getting one of the 5 pets, may be worth trying to finish just in case!

my guild started a lil game. any time the guild systems says 'someone earned 'can i keep him?', we yell on the guild chat 'NO YOU CANT KEEP HIM! TAKE IT BACK!' XD it was quite funny the first time they did it to me, now i do it all the time XD

Piece of cake. You just need to get to the nearest mailbox to retrieve the pet sent you from Breanni. Besides the authenticator owners can have the Core Hound Pup in their mailbox.

Most of the Alliance earn this achievement in Stormwind and most of the Horde - in Orgrimmar.

Humans can earn this achievement at early levels by visiting Donni Anthania and buying one of her cats.

This achievement chain is going to 600 unique pets, and you are rewarded through the achievements with 8 pets.

The achievement are:

一群寵物 which require 15 unique pets
寵物不少喔 which require 25 unique pets
謹慎購物，購買寵物...也要謹慎 which require 50 unique pets and rewards 發臭寵物帶原體 that gives you the pet 小臭鼬
小王牌獵人 which require 75 unique pets and rewards 小鹿的鹽塊 that gives you the pet 小鹿
可愛動物區 which require 100 unique pets and rewards 小松果的橡實 that gives you the pet 小松果
展示廳 which require 125 unique pets and rewards 聰明的卡里瑞 that gives you the pet 聰明的卡里瑞
超小型寵物店 which require 150 unique pets and rewards 星穹龍 that gives you the pet 星穹龍
需要更多的皮帶 which require 250 unique pets and rewards 野生小兔妖 that gives you the pet 野生小兔妖
很花飼料錢 which require 400 unique pets and rewards 維納斯 that gives you the pet 維納斯
寵物寵不完 which require 600 unique pets and rewards 暴風之翼 that gives you the pet 暴風之翼

Total there is currently 752 pets, but for most people you will only be able to aquire around 700, because some pets way of obtaining has been removed. And some are harder to come by, like the collectors edition, refer a friend, Store bought pets ect.
