The previous poster is correct, it is a little wedge that is on the single plank of wood next to the two overlapping planks.

BUT - The badge is ON the plank, however, and won't just "show up" if you run your mouse across it from a distance - you need to be practically right on top of the plank itself to see it. Hope that helps! Good luck.

Oh, and this quest is available at lvl 40 regardless of sequence.

I have turned in the "The Black Shield" first, then the "Suspicious Footprint" - After the Captain sends out his tracker, I went back so search the badge.

I have looked everywhere aournd and inside the house, but are unable to find it.

Which 'rubbel' is this badge hidden under, and is there a time delay before the 'tracker' returns, and you get this new possibility?

There are 3 boards on the floor. Two are crossed, one is laying alone. It's on the one that is not crossed with another.

You don't have to do the pick-up quests at the inn in any order, you can pick the shield, hoofprints, and badge up all at the same time.

Just thought I'd make it easier on ya, save you all the running back and forth, because that's sure what I did on my main, and it's a royal pain in the arse.

Thottbot

I agree with Lagana...
First time I did the quest I kept running back and forth...
Second time I picked up all 3 quests... :)
Good luck~ :)

It's a lil' badge on one of the planks. There's 2 planks overlapping eachother, and a seperate one. Scour the seperate one slowly, should find it easily.

Good luckski.

Just became aware of this quest and was able to pick it and the Suspicious Hoofprints at the same time. No need to do hoofprints first! Badge on plank plainly visible to my 37 pally.

Thottbot

I had done hoofprints but definitely picked up the shield and the badge one together. The badge kind of looks like a doorknob on the beam on the floor

I just got this quest at level 34 having done no quests in the area except for the Missing Diplomat chain and the Smiling Jim one. The latter might be required, but you definitely don't have to do the other Shady Inn ones first.

tooo me 5 mins to find eveything :D
*yawn*
long walk

Allakhazam

It is on a board at the shady rest inn at loc 29/48.

Allakhazam

Flipping back and forth looks like you have to examine the shield, then the foot prints, then go back again for the board?

Is there a prerequisite for this quest? I ran out here and found 3 boards laying in the remains of the inn, but they weren't usable. I checked all aroiund in and out of the inn for a good 15mins trying to find the trigger for this quest. I did pick up both "Suspicious Hoofprints" and "The Black Shield" while I was there but no sign of this quest's trigger item..

where is this

Allakhazam

you can get all three items in one trip as mentioned before. the badge is the hardest one to see. You see three grey boards on the floor inside the inn. The badge is a very very tiny dot on the board that is the closest to the entrance of the inn. Move your mouse on the board and with luck you will see it =)

Its a Grey Dot on one of the 3 boards quite hard to spot but it is there :)

Full Reethe Questline Info

It's a long story following Rethe's mystery on both alliance and horde side. I will tell the alliance side of things. I can also confirm it works in classic, you just need to get the required prequests. Questie will show the badge on the map, even if you didn't complete the prequests yet.

Alliance starts with 詹姆士·海爾 and the followup 詹姆士·海爾 OR 他們叫他微笑的吉姆 (you can do only one of the prerequisites)

Once you got these prerequisites you will be able to loot the 被燻黑的鐵盾牌 and 雷瑟的徽章 as well as inspect 蹄印 in the burned down Inn in Dustwallow Marsh at 29 47.

The badge is really small sitting on a plank in the middle of the inn, the shield hangs on the chimney, the hoofprints are in front of the house.

These items start 3 quest:

帕瓦爾·雷瑟上尉
黑色盾牌
可疑的蹄印

You are then send around 2 more times to other NPCs with the shield:

黑色盾牌
黑色盾牌

And the badge continues to the following questline:

帕瓦爾·雷瑟上尉
戴林的下屬
叛逃者
叛逃者

There is no follow-up to this quest, though you do get a bit more from the Horde's perspective if you come back and do their side of the chain. The conclusion to the mystery was not added into the game until Patch 2.3, thus we won't be seeing it in Classic. That patch addressed many of the abrupt endings to quest chains in Dustwallow Marsh.

On Horde side:

After handing in 雷瑟的徽章 you get an escort quest to help an ogre go talk to him.
However before you can get anything out of him some alliance show up and kill him for treason.
After all three of them has been completed horde gets a quest to go talk to the smith of the 被燻黑的鐵盾牌 in Thunderbluff.
Unfortunatly the smith cant possibly remember for whom he made the 被燻黑的鐵盾牌 so the quest ends there.

For completionist/OCD players, before doing this quest, do this :

1) Take 詹姆士·海爾

2) Turn in quest to take 詹姆士·海爾

3) DON'T TURN IN ANYTHING, instead, take 他們叫他微笑的吉姆

4) Turn in all quests

I've just arriving in Dustwallow Marsh at level 34. All three quests are attainable without any prerequisites, from the Shady Rest Inn. There will be a shield on the chimney, hoofprints on the ground and a badge on the floor. Those items provide the quests.
