This spell is casted by using "AoE" circle and target enemy with it (kinda like mages blizzard) , but circle is smaller , your warrior should jump there in very high speed

It has been thoroughly mentioned on the official forums that those two talents should be swapped.

Bladestorm in Fury: It is easier to get the full effect of this attack while the enemy is not moving, the damage can pile up quiet a bit if you have titan's grip, DW spec and all those goodies that will make each separate WW hit fairly hard.

Heroic Leap in Arms: Mobility and CC, that is all.

Instead of Intercept CD Reduced by 5 sec on the Warrior PvP Season armor, there should be some CD reduce on this spell.. Too bad you cant start a fight with this spell, because it requires 15 rage : / Make it generate rage instead.. Sry for all this whining :P

Heroic still fits better, it's purpose is to become a 'bomb' stunning target area, as well as moving you close to targets.

I believe Heroic Leap should be in the Arms tree and Bladestorm should be in the Fury tree.

It's an instant that stuns everyone wihtin a 5 yard range and dealing "only" 50% weapon damage. Now facture that this has a 45 second cooldown, I don't see that people will be actively using this during raids as either a way to boost their DPS or as a for of CC. In PvP, however, this skill would be far far more useful, stuns stop casting, people from fleeing and the fact that it doesn't have a limit as to how many others will be affected and the fact that it has a rather limited range.

It's a great opener or a great finisher, coupled with MS and hamstring, this is an awesome skill for any PvP warrior.

Despite what you may have seen in the comments here, this ability is currently very weak in PVP because it isn't targeted at all. You basically just leap 20 yards forward, no matter what. This means it fails to hit your target at least 50% of the time, even if you are very good at aiming.

If they fix it to work off your current target or have a targeting reticule/area, it could be the boost fury PVP needs to be tops, but as is it's just a flashy waste of a talent point.

To me, this ability looks like it could be a great escape tool or a great offensive tool. For PvP, this is pretty sick, when used correctly.. it will definately take some time to master so you can land your leaps at the right place

If they gave it a targetting circle it would be MUCH better though

reminds me of leap attack from Diablo2 from the barbarian, which is funny cause my main in D2 was a barbarian and my wow main is a Fury Warrior,Blizzard has a funny way of throwing some irony at me every now and then, plus the fact that this stuns makes it great fro pvp "oh i see ya castin mage *makes barbarian leap attack grunt sound what now!" lol

It's going to be a trainable ability. However, only fury talents will improve it.

It was originally going to be usable only in Battle Stance, and that talents in the Arms-tree would remove the stance-penalty and make it usable in every stance. Obviously Blizzard noticed how bizzare this was and changed it. The way it looks now is good, and let's hope it won't be changed in a negative way.

I just had this weird idea... Imagine 20 Alliance fury warriors standing ready at the Alterac Valley bridge. At one person's command, they all leap through the air, obliterating anything they land on. Horde is now stunned, and warriors pop their Death Wish. BOOM! Whirlwind! BOOM! Cleave!

At another command, another 10 Arms warriors leap in, popping Deadly Calm and then Bladestorm, finishing the job.

Man, if this game was very detailed, this would be such a butchery. So much blood! Hah!

Please, someone do this in the future!

i can imagine this being very powerful in PVE as well as in PVP

PVE: bloodrage, heroic leap ( after tank pulls trash ) cleave, whirlwind, start rotation; warriors are going to be a great addition to AOE in cata. and the new meat cleaver talent is amazing for this.

PVP: fury warrior is going to be very very speedy flag carrier; between heroic leap, intercept , heroic fury, intercept charge....... you could clear 100 yards in 4 seconds and keep going. heroic leap will also help a lot against kiting. its a little intimidating when a flying warrior is hurling towards you with its god like 2h weapons to knock you down useless.

i am very excited for cataclysm and for warriors to finely stand a chance against those pesky frost mages

The best part of this ability is that it lets you target any area you wish. If you're falling, this can and will save your life (as opposed to Charge, which always required an attack target). There are already videos of people jumping off of Dalaran and landing with this baby, taking no fall damage and looking damn cool in the process.

Something odd I've noticed with npcs that have this ability, they only seem to use it against players and never other npcs.

I wonder what the reason for this is.

I'm guessing it was a safeguard of some kind programmed in to the ability itself to prevent player exploitation of boss creatures that use it, for example placing pets or guardians on stay away from a group so a creature goes for it, causing the pet to soak up the damage of it and any whirlwind type spells used thereafter, making it easy for groups since they would not have to move out of the bad thing or heal through its damage.

It is the exact same logic/pathing as with charge/intercept, so its not "leaping" at all, mechanics regarded.

I suppose that's how it has to be, as it'd be near impossible to hinder people from leaping all over the place where they are not meant to be.

But a new "choose location" charge isnt all bad, most fun I've had with it, is "leaping" into a bunch of troggs to get inital aggro from the lot. Followed by thunderclap and shockwave, it makes for a good AoE.

This is a very useful ability to warriors, Its great for fleeing from combat. This can be used while falling, If your good enough you can use this off fairly high objects and land undamaged (Do not use while falling high off flying mounts because no doubt you will die!). This ability is also good for a bit of damage, As a tank - To jump right in the middle of some mobs I like to shockwave, move out then use heroic leap onto them followed by a thunderclap :)

I really don't think this is good enough to be the warrior's lvl 85 ability. It does not to alot of damage, it does not stun/knockback it does not apply TC and it mostly says ''No path available''.

It sucks for tanking too because its a AoE = CC breaker.

This skill can be quite useful for dealing with people who try to LoS you in PvP. Leap past the pillar (or whatever is blocking your charge), then charge them.

Of course, arms and fury will have to be careful that they're not putting themselves in a vulnerable position away from the rest of their team, but prot PvPers can generally rush like this without having to worry.

If you use at the last minute before you hit the ground, you will take no fall damage (from any height). Mastering this "skill" can be useful for when you are blown off of the Lumber Mill cliff in Arathi Basin or when you wish to jump straight down to the Gold Mine flag instead of spending 15 seconds going around to follow the road. Also, if you have lightning reflexes, you can sometimes avoid being blown off the cliffs of certain doom in Eye of the Storm by quickly heroic leaping back up onto land (don't count on this second trick working very often: you have to be in line of sight and have a path to the land you are clicking on)

P.S. This fall-cancelling phenomenon also works with charge and intercept (and possibly intervene) and charge/intercept work IN MID AIR. Nothing quite as scary as getting murdered by a free-falling warrior.

This ability has so much utility! I've used it for heroic mining, heroic skydiving, heroic jumping out of water, heroic jumping into the sidecar of a mechano-hog, heroic quest turn-ins...

There are still a lot of bugs with the pathing, especially due to elevation. One good thing I've noticed is that it does NOT aggro enemies along the flight path. As long as you start/end outside of the aggro radius, you shouldn't aggro the mob. I've used this in the elementium mine in Twilight Highlands to skip some mobs and land directly on mining nodes.

Surprised no one had commented on this; you can perform other abilities mid-leap. My favourite way to start a pull as a tank is to get within range of both Charge and Heroic Leap, Heroic Leap to the mobs and spam Charge on the way. If it goes off correctly, you can get the rage from Charge and the damage from Heroic Leap both. Haven't run into a single other Warrior tank who knew about this yet

I have found absolutely no use for this as little more than a gimmick, except the gimmick rarely works. I can't use it to save myself from being blown off LM like with Charge (eg charge as you go flying and don't move off the cliff) I can't use it to jump onto buildings for lulz value.

I can't use it to engage in PvE because I lose rage from Charge, and I already have intervene for getting to the grounding zone / eye of the storm... so...

What purpose is this ability supposed to serve that intercept didn't already do AND better?

You CAN use it and still get rage by combining it with Charge, in the way that I detailed in my post a few above yours. This is confirmed to still work in 4.1.

As for your second point, it's still somewhat useful in situations where whatever other mobility skill you would use is on cooldown. Not trying to say it's the best skill evar or anything, the pathing issues drive me berserk, but it is not, as you seem to imply, utterly without function.

I have read blue posts about how Blizz can't get the pathing correct because of terrain complexities. Something about warriors being able to Heroic Leap off a map or something.

My question is how come they can't apply the same mechanics as blink? Blink works uphill, no problem at all. Heroic Leap does not work uphill or even a slight elevation.

While it has been mentioned HL will save you from falling damage, I wanted to add, to increase chance of success, bind HL to a hotkey and spam the crap out of that button while keeping the targeting circle directly below your warrior. You'll get a bunch of out of range error messages, don't mind that, all that matters is hearing that "crash" sound. This is especially helpful if you are falling thru trees and don't exactly know when you'll hit the ground.

It isn't reflected here yet, but now only lets you jump up to 25yrd.

It's a bit annoying, but it's probably just a temporary measure to combat the recent exploitive use of this ability while they work out a real fix.

6.0 removed any restriction on range, line of sight and height of the jump. As long as you are in range and got a surface to land on, you can use heroic leap (even while mid air, jump to get that extra reach).

Currently very useful in Draenor to reach difficult spots or take shortcuts. You can climb any mountain with heroic leap.

It is kind of strange that this was changed though, before the spell was restricted like crazy to prevent abuse, especially in arena.

Edit: "Big leaps" only applies to open world. Arena, BGs and Ashran have old limitations.

There are many instances where you cannot leap uphill, despite the target marker showing as green. The message "You cannot use that here" is displayed instead.

This has been changed in some way since 7.3, you can no longer use this to leap over/on top of things etc. It is very limited now. Before 7.3, you could, while falling, leap onto a platform that was not right under you but still below you, now you will get "No path available" You could use this to clime mountains with the heroic leap shoulders, or maybe get upto the top lvl in the temple of Kotmogu BG while in mid, you can do neither now. While falling, if you are not leaping to somewhere directly below you/trying to leap to a platform above you, it will not work. This completely cripples our mobility more than you can imagine.

Edit: It actually seems like it treats leap like a somewhat speed increase. What I mean is, you have a 40 yard range on it, and you can only leap to places now that you could run to from where you are within 40 yards. Where as before it was just a 40yard range from where you were, to anywhere you wanted to go. Now if you can't actually walk there in 40yards you can't leap there. This dose nothing if you are using it on flat ground going straight, but if you are trying to do par-core like you could before that is long gone it seems.

*edit* Now in 7.3.5, It is even more bugged, I am able to leap through the ground randomly. I was doing SoO, I got to the beach and, used leap to get to a cannon, leaped through the ground, into thoks room, got trapped and had to hearth out, when I got to him the normal way, because I had already been there once it bugged the script that causes him to come out of the cage and become attackable. He stayed in his cage and I could not kill him, thus I could not finish the run. The other day while doing a wrath TW, I was doing Ahn'kahet: The Old Kingdom, I was going up the web bridge to last boss, used leap on the bridge and fell through it and yet again got trapped, having to port out and back in and run all the way back from the start of the instance. If you have a problem like this make sure you report it as a bug in game. The more people that do the faster it will get fixed.

Now, REMEMBER!

Warriors that have Heroic Leap up do not die or take damage from falling, we fall followed by a heroic leap to smash the ground below. That's right! We smash the ground under our feet, not the other way around.

All of the other weaker classes fall screaming to their deaths and go splat!

Know the difference.

Seriously, you can fall from a lethal height, but if you heroic leap to the ground and have a path, you're good to go, no fall damage. I do it all the time next to a poor s.o.b. screwed up and fell. What a mess.
