This item is the WoD equivalent of Golden Glider (but not limited to Timeless Isle) for all players and does NOT require Engineering to use.

Need to use my totally normal legit portal to Dalaran more before everyone and their moms will be able to survive it...

On a happy note If i do manage to kill someone with my totally normal legit portal to Dalaran it'll be their own damn fault for not surviving it. No more guilt! :D

essentially this item acts like an engineers glider enchant, only it dose not have a engineer level restriction. so this item will be great for mailing to alt you keep accidentally killing by falling off a cliff and forgetting they lack the glider. it will also get you a good bit of money selling these on the auction house.

Despite being able to be craft all four devices via Draenor Engineering:

Mecha-Blast Rocket and Shieldtronic Shield, can be placed into Engineering containers, such as Elementium Toolbox,

Goblin Glider Kit and Stealthman 54 cannot be stored in Engineering containers, and rather take up normal bag slots.

Definitely the fastest and easiest way to get from the Throne of Kil'Jaeden back to your faction's hub in Tanaan Jungle. You can easily get to Vol'mar (Horde) and to the road in front of Lion's Watch (Alliance) if you get a running jump off the Throne of Kil'Jaeden cliffs.

You should always have a stack of these on all of your toons. It's very cheap to buy from the AH (or make yourself for your alts), does not require Engineering to use, has no level requirement, and lasts for two minutes.

The convenience of gliding back from a high perch back to a quest hub is great. But I've found it immensely useful for getting out of trouble by jumping off a cliff (i.e. to escape gankers), in PvP zones like AB to get from an elevated node down somewhere, or just on a slope to get a small boost of speed to get away from something.

I thought I'd compile and consolidate some data for this item into one post! This post was written during and is accurate as of Patch 6.2.2 (Warlords of Draenor).

The Goblin Glider Kit is an item made by Engineers. The materials for 5 Goblin Glider Kits are 8 X True Iron Ore and 5 Sumptuous Fur (making it 1.6 True Iron Ore + 1 Sumptuous Fur per glider). As well, 2-3 of these can sometimes be found inside Blingtron 5000 Gift Package, awarded daily by the Engineer crafted Blingtron 5000.

Here are some details about this item:

The Goblin Glider Kit stacks to 20, but cannot be stored in Engineering bags like the Elementium Toolbox.
Using the glider has no cast time (i.e. it is instant).
The glider can be used in combat.
These items are not soulbound, and can be sold on the Auction House or traded. Engineering is NOT required to use the gliders.
There is a 3 minute cooldown on the Goblin Glider Kit; this is a shared cooldown with Goblin Glider, the Engineering only tinker for cloaks. Using either one will put both on cooldown.
This item is an easy way for lower level toons to get the achievement Going Down?
This item can be used while on a ground mount; doing so will dismount you and activate the glider. The item cannot be used on a flying mount - you must dismount first, then activate the item.
If you have built the corral as your outpost in Nagrand, it is useful to note that you can use this glider while on your Frostwolf War Wolf (H)/Telaari Talbuk (A) without it dismounting you.
The glider buff lasts for 2 minutes total before expiring.
Cancelling the buff by right-clicking it will cancel the effect and cause you to plummet to the ground.
This item can be used in Unrated Battlegrounds and in Ashran, but not in Rated Battlegrounds or Arenas.
This item can be used in conjunction with Aviana's Feather in a few interesting ways:

Aviana's Feather, when used, will shoot you straight up in the air, after which you get wings that propel you forward at 714% speed! Using your Goblin Glider Kit at any point in the vertical ascent will allow you to move forward at a lower altitude - this can be handy if you want to go forward a shorter distance, or reach a a nearby ledge without overshooting. After a few seconds on your glider, the wings would spawn as normal, increasing your speed.
Note that you must use the glider BEFORE the wings spawn to get the extra speed; if the glider is used after the wings have spawned, your speed will drop to 357%
Using the glider AFTER the wings have spawned, as mentioned previously, will slow your speed (from 714% to 357%). This can be useful if trying for a very precise location to land.
When using the glider after jumping from any height, you can extend your range with Aviana's Feather. When you are nearing the ground on your glider, simply use the feather (which is instant use and can be used in midair!) to get even further.

This glider is a useful item to slow falling after using Falling Flame - without some way of slowing fall speed at the end, the landing proves fatal.

For those wondering about the differences between this item and the Parachute Cloak/Flexweave Underlay Engineering tinker, I've outlined them in the table below.

Works in Battlegrounds.

Used this to do the Arathi Basin Lumber Mill jump... I love doing the long drop on my mage, now my druid can do it too! Odd thing though, you have to be in the air to use this item - so first you mount, then jump towards the Blacksmith, then you click the item and float down upon your enemies.

Edit: Also tested successfully in Isle of Conquest.

I finally found a use for those stupid Mecha-Blast Rocket and Shieldtronic Shield that keep piling up from the Blingtron dailies: Know Your Role! I've discovered that damage absorbed by the shield doesn't break the buff needed for the achievement. So here's what I did:

1. Accepted the two dailies at Deadtalker's plateau (Assault Deadtalker's plateau and Spirit Dust).
2. Killed the Crusher with a rocket.
3. Pulled the big packs of mobs by using the rocket on the Corpsedefiler , popping the shield, and aoeing the small guys down.
4. Once I had enough dust I just used the rocket on the remaining Corpsedefilers I needed then jumped off a cliff so I wouldn't have to kill the spirits. I used my Engineering tinker Goblin Glider but you can also use the Goblin Glider Kit from Blingtron or just jump into water to avoid dying.
5. Turned in those quests and picked up the boss quest I needed (Uruk!).
6. Killed uruk with a shield and rocket.
7. Did the other firebarrel quests using the edge technique in other comments.

NOTE: The first hit you do on Uruk doesn't do any damage to him, so hit him with a ranged attack before using your rocket.

Goblin Glider Kit is sold by Ricket. She is located in the hall accessed by going over the displacement pad in the middle of Dalaran to where your collected Pillars of Creation are stored. Her exact location is next to the portals downstairs from the circle with the Pillars of Creation.

EDIT: She was removed on September 7th. She is now only located at K3 in Storm Peaks. She does NOT sell Goblin Glider Kits at K3.

A friend sent me 40 of these (2 stacks of 20). I already have 10 in inventory, so I wanted to put the extras into bank. I have 40 empty spaces in bank, yet I can't fit a single stack of 20 gliders in bank, it says bank is full. Nor can I take just 1 GGK from stack and put that in bank. Seriously? When did these become non-bankable? Have they always been non-bankable?

These keep the garrison useful in Legion. Build engineering hut and trading post.
Run missions for GR, use that to buy fur and True Iron Ore as needed in the trading post. Engineering hut will build the gliders from the mats, and they will sell well on the AH until we get flying.

Great on broken isles, especially when using Emerald Winds with it. You can basically fly for as long as the duration of the glider (2 mins).

Fun fact, if you jump from the top of the mountain above Ironforge, you can land in The Cauldron of Searing Gorge of you direct your glider correctly, leaving you with roughly 15 seconds left of your glider

Goblin Glider Kit and the engineering-only cloak enchant Goblin Glider are functionally the same and share a cooldown.
Both provide:

357% speed multiplier (+257% speed)

Zandalari Troll Racial Pterrordax Swoop works the same, but is on a 15 minute cooldown not shared with the Gliders.

I can understand this item having a shared cooldown with other items. One of those is the Bubble Wand. Sure, we can all see the dangers of having bubbles trailing from someone gliding through the air, but really? A 3 minute cooldown on the 5 second Bubble Wand?

As a Hunter, there is an alternative to all the mechanisms and spells you can use in-game to slow your fall.
By using Tome of the Hybrid Beast, you'll learn to tame Feathermane Hunter. Those have a special ability called: Updraft.
This gives you a slow-fall, without cooldown, for 30 sec.
The only drawback is that you can not steer/change direction after you jump.

I don't see this reported here, but the beloved Goblin Glider Kit is bugged near the WoD garrison - at least for Alliance. On two different characters and in two different locations, I've tried to jump/soar from just outside the garrison to get quickly down to the water. Both times got a too-quick-to-read notice something to the effect that I can't use that now or maybe 'here'.

These are invaluable in Shadowlands. I've been playing since 2005 and only rarely have I ever used this before. Now I have my engineer alt making loads of these for my main to use in the new expansion, especially in Bastion.
