So... this quest you get from Dark Ranger Velonara as the last part of the forsaken questline of 9.2.5 when you get the credit for the quest you can go to the hunter lodge (order hall) from legion and Outfitter Reynolds <Unseen Path> will sell the Ensemble: Dark Ranger's Attire for 1000g

Note: you must do it on a hunter to get the ensemble.

Can this set be acquired on a hunter alt if another character on my account has completed the Lordaeron storyline? Or do I have to do the quest on my hunter first?

You DO get the ability to purchase
Ensemble: Dark Ranger's Attire, at

Trueshot Lodge (the Hunter Class Hall in Legion), after you complete
Path of the Dark Rangers.

You do NOT get either
Return to Lordaeron (the achievement) or
of Lordaeron (the title),
until you hand in the last quest. That is:

Alliance: Report to Greymane, handed in to Genn in The Enclave in Oribos (where you started the quest chain).
Horde: A Walk with Ghosts, handed in to Calia in the Throne Room of Lordaeron.

BTW, this is the Alliance version of the quest (because it's embedded in the Alliance version of the chain).

The Horde version is Path of the Dark Rangers

The WowHead News article about this in the 9.2.5 content patch points to this Alliance version of this quest step. So if you just follow the news article and you play Horde, you might think you didn't get credit for this quest and won't be able to buy the Dark Ranger transmog.

Check the Horde quest instead of this one.

So I completed the storyline with my alliance character, accepted this quest, it never appeared in my quest log at all, nor did it say anything else after I accepted it. I'm confused as to how to get the armor at this point. I checked with my other hunter characters, and they can't see the armor in the vendor in the class hall.

I present Return to Lordaeron Storyline. This Storyline have 15 Quests. After complite this Storyline You will get Achievement Return to Lordaeron.

Quest Name:	Start and description
1 Eyes of the Wolf	First Quest is from Genn Greymane in Oribos 41,7 63,6 and speak with Gilnean Greymage then you will be teleported. Then move to Calia Menethil 61 51,5.
2a Assemble the Forsaken	"Speak with 3 NPC: - Dark Ranger Velonara 62 50.5 Do quest for him This Land is Ours kill 8 mobs. - Master Apothecary Faranell 63.2 55.5 - Lilian Voss 57.6 49.2"
2b This Land is Ours	Kill 8 mobs
4 The Blight Congress	First speak with Lilian Voss then after conversation speak with Calia Menethil then move to 62 55.5
5 Walk of Faith	First speak with Calia Menethil then stay inside barrien and kill mobs until Blighted Lieutenant when you kill him use flask on your extra spell bar then move back.
6 Consulting Our Allies	Fly to Margrave Sin'dane in Maldraxxus 74.7 33.6 on top of flying bulding.
7 House of Plagues	Fly to Plague Deviser Marileth 71.2 71.4
8a Essence of Plague	First press on Simmering Concoction 70.9 74.1 then Unstable Concoction 69.6 75.6 and last Tumultuous Concoction 68.5 79.7
8b Feed the Eater	Slay plague mobs until 100%
10 Embodiment	Slay Lordaeron Blight 68.3 84
11 Return to Brill	Use Lilian's Hearthstone to teleport then go to Master Apothecary Faranell 65.8 60.1 and speak with him and wait until conversation end.
12 The Remedy of Lordaeron	Jump on Shadowbat 65.7 59.9, use kill 1 and 2 on mobs under you, when you will get 100% you will start fight with Amalgam use on him skill 3-5.
13 The Desolate Council	First will be a conversation
14 Path of the Dark Rangers	hmm i just finish this quest without accept maby due to that im not hunter ?
15 Report to Greymane	Back to Oribos to speak with Genn Greymane 41.5 63.4 first give him letter then finish quest after that you will reach Achievement Return to Lordaeron.

Dark Ranger Velonara says: When we darkfallen elves were raised into undeath, Silvermoon shunned us. All that we knew, all that we loved, had been lost.

As a blood elf, strutting around with my "of Silvermoon" title, I had to awkwardly look away.

As a hunter, once I accepted this quest it simply disappeared right away.
Not a problem. You're now eligible to purchase the transmog set from Outfitter Reynolds at Legion's hunter class hall Trueshot Lodge.

You may do all the introductory Legion quests to access it, or teleport to Azsuna and fly to Dalaran to accept your hunter class related quest,
or alternatively, finishing "In the Blink of an Eye" quest (in case you got it in your capital) will teleport you straight to Legion's Dalaran and grant you it's hearthstone.
Once there, a class related quest will pop up and after finishing it you will reach Trueshot Lodge.
