If you happen to walk out of the place like i accidentally did don't turn around and run back.
You will end up in the instance instead of where you should be.

At the bottom of the stairs to the left of the temple you'll find an NPC called Elder Sage Wind-Yi.
Speak to her, she'll give you the option to go to the temple.
And port you right back to where you should be.

To complete this quest, kill Water Fiend in the Fountain of the Everseeing. One will eventually drop the quest item you are looking for. Turn in the quest in the same room at Wise Mari.

You may have to kill several Water Fiends before the Staff drops. I think I killed between five and ten.

Thankyou so much for this tip. I spent ages running around looking for how to get back in to the temple without actually going into the instance. Your tip helped me greatly.

What is with this crappy DROP rate been killing for an hour and a half no staff yet

Loaded up the Movie Liar Liar and started on this quest. By the end of the movie, I had killed 135+ of the mobs (I started my count after 15 minutes without drop+checking wowhead for known glitches), dropped the quest, relogged, grabbed the quest again, and killed another 35 of the mob. Ended up leaving the quest as-is and put in a ticket with a GM to see if this quest is working as intended.

GM responded to my ticket. Gave this Response:

I apologize for the inconvenience on this, we are receiving several reports regarding various issues since the 5.2 patch has launched. While Game Masters are unable to resolve glitches and bugs, we are compiling reports from players, such as yourself , which we are sending to our Developers who are working around the clock and uploading fixes and patches to resolve these issues as quickly as possible.

Currently it looks like this issue has been fixed now!

According to the response, it looks like there may have been some drop rate issues with the quest. I have 3 more characters that I need to level through this zone, so I'll update on if the quest does not work at a later date.

Kill Water Fiends to recover Wise Mari's Staff.

Description

Since you were so helpful at the mines, would you be willing to help us with a small problem here at the temple?

Wise Mari has been complaining recently of a disturbance in his temple.

The water elementals have gotten quite playful recently, and made off with his ceremonial staff.

If you could help him, I would be most grateful. I may even put in a word with the Jade Serpent for you.

Just follow the path to the north.
