Strat:
One tank.
Note: in LFR the raid should be stacked up behind the boss and ignore every other mecanic. Basicaly a giant tank and spank fight.

Raid should be spread out all around the boss, with healers on each side, in order to rapidly control the Void orb direction.
Players should always be by team of at least 2 when bumping the Orb ( unless under damage immunity deterrence, Ice block, divine shield or a big damage reduction cd)
5-6 bonces is a decent number to aim for before geting it back at the boss.
Note: The Void diffusion debuff the boss gets for each Orb bump stacks with each latter orb... if the orb gets back to the boss fast enough. Anything under 3 bumps means the debuff will fall before the next Orb is here to refresh the debuff. But Increased bouces mean increased damage taken by your raid.

All the raid should stack up once the orb reach the boss and prepare to get hit by ~15s of raid wide damage. Raid CDs are helpfull here.
Once Aoe is finish, repeat from step one Ad nauseam.

Yogg Saron's goonies are "outside the cycle" and therefor cannot be killed permanently. This is why General Vezax keeps coming back from the dead with new tricks up his sleeve. So he's not actually a reskin or recolor because he fits into the lore. :B

Berserk immediately after 4th "black" phase.

With about 20k DPS from each DPS, 3 heals, 1 tank, we hit berserk doing 5 bounces per phase, and killed him with 8 players alive. Good luck.

WARLORD ZON'OZZ STRATEGY (10 MAN NORMAL)

First off, split your non-tank(s) into two camps, a melee team and a ranged team. Within the melee team will be your melee (duh), and your tank healers. Your ranged team will be the rest of the non-tanks, preferably, the groups will be roughly even. Arrange them so that tanks will be in front of the boss, melee group directly behind, and the ranged group further behind the melee. (Make sure tanks, if using more than one, are at different angles, Psychic Drain will hit everything in front of him. You don't want it hitting more than one person.)

Now, the fun of the fight is ping pong. Zon'ozz will spawn the Void of the Unmaking (henceforth, ping pong ball) in a spot IN FRONT OF HIM. He won't do any special ability without the ping pong ball being active, so make sure you have him facing the ranged party until the ball is in play. After the ball spawns, have your ranged team move so that the ball is colinear with the team and the boss. Your melee team will then move in between the ball and the boss, so the ranged team will bounce it into the melee group, who bounces it back into the ranged, who bounces it back to the melee group, etc.

Every time the ball bounces, it does damage to everyone nearby, evenly divided, gets more powerful, then goes in the opposite direction. My raid was able to bounce it 5 times between the ranged and melee groups before tank damage got too high from Zon'ozz's stacking buff, so that's when melee got the hell out of dodge to let the ping pong ball hit Zon'ozz. After Zon'ozz is hit, he'll take more damage but begin phase 2, which will require massive heals. Have everyone, tanks included, stack in one spot (say, melee group spot) and AOE heal the hell out of the raid, because this phase hurts. It hurts a lot. After the AOE fades, the fight's back to square one, so get your groups in the right place with the tank facing Zon'ozz towards the group. Rinse, repeat, and you're done.

IN SHORT
1. Face boss towards ranged group until ball spawns.
2. Bounce ball between ranged and melee group until you can't handle any more damage.
3. Melee move out of the way to let ball hit boss.
4. Stack and AOE heal the hell out of everyone. Bloodlust to take advantage of damage buff.
5. Go to 1.

Edit: After reset, did fight again with one tank with no issues.

Thing to note, the Orb spawn is a set timer that doesn't change throughout the fight.

If you do 7 bounces, after phase 2 ends the orb will spawn almost immediately after.

If you do 5 bounces, you'll get a bit less than 10 seconds before it spawns.

If you do 3 bounces, you'll have a lot of down time before an orb shows up.

This matters when you realize that the boss is stacking a damage buff the whole time, and the faster you can start bouncing the orb and reset his buff, the less chance your tank will get blown up. Stacking to 3, even if you can't heal through any more, is likely to be a wipe down the road. You can survive the next phase 1 with some CDs, but getting to 5 bounces after 3 is going to be rough, and you're in an uphill battle at that point.

5 is right about where you want to be. It will start the orb bouncing early in the boss's attack buffs, and it won't get too out of hand by the time you need to smash it into him.

Caution: In the midst of chaos and excitement, the tank may confuse Warlock's Drain Soul as that of the purple laser that produces the Ping Pong ball.

My raid did this with 1 tank 3 healers and assorted dps.

We splitted the raid into two 4 person groups a melee group which has melee and a healer (in case you dont have 3 melee, which is normal, a caster that has no problem with range works too) and the range group which had all the ranges and another healer our last healer was alone in between groups (not in the way of the ball) as to be in range of both groups and the tank.

We had the tank pull him without turning while keeping him in the center and range stacked in front of him near the edge of the water(roughly 40 yards, max range), melee group just engaged him from the back ready to move, once he starts channeling the ball the tank turned him 180° and the melee group stacked right in front of the ranged ready to take the ball.

We didnt stack melee with the tank because of Psychic drains cone, I am not sure if he does it before he summons the ball but its just a small move for melee.

We bounced the ball 5 times since with 3 we didnt have the dps to beat the enrage, more than 5 was possible but 5 should be enough for most raids, whenever you choose the last bounce to be which will always be on ranged the melee group gets out of the way and let it hit the boss, all the raid then stacks for the aoe damage phase, once the aoe ends everyone gets back to their first positions (tank facing the point where ranged stacks) and repeats all the process until the boss dies or you do.

Some notes:

The ball is always summoned in front of the boss, thats why the range team stacks in front of him

Once he starts channeling the ball's position is set so the tank can turn him as soon as he starts

The ball has a large area where you acctually hit it and a large area where ppl recieve dmg so you dont have to be perfectly stacked , but may cause troubles if the tank doensnt completely turn the boss 180° but more of a 90° as he might still be in range of the ball dmg

His hitbox is really small so melee might want to move out and stop dps rather than trying to keep dpsing and possibly hitting the ball again, even from the sides as the ball seems to prefer hitting a player instead of the boss even if the boss is already in the range to be hit (This happened a few times but cant say is 100% true, better safe than sorry though)

The ball has a few seconds after it bounces where you cant bounce it again which is why we put the range at max range this will likely put the healer on range team too far to heal the tank but thats why we had a healer between groups, at first we had him in the range team and got closer to heal the tank causing a much faster bounce much closer to the melee team the ball then during its untouchable seconds went thru the melee team and the boss bouncing off the tank which then started to bounce between the tank and melee, hilarious but wipe causing

Bairot makes an important final point, about the orb having a short period of time where it is "unhittable". Our group was having a tough time against this boss, where many attempts were wipes simply because the orb was going through the boss and hitting the tank resulting in a wipe. We blamed Blizzard for a shotty boss mechanic and tried to carry on, only to experience more annoying wipes.

Our MT then pointed out a possible reason as to why the orb was passing through the boss: the "unhittable" period of the orb. After the orb hits a group of players, it'll turn a very dark shade of purple for about 1-2 seconds, this is the "unhittable" phase of the orb. This occurs to prevent the orb from being constantly touched by players who are grouped together and allows a few seconds for the orb to safely pass through the group, towards the other stack pile. After the few seconds pass, the orb glows bright purple again, indicating that it is ready to be bounced back or soaked into the boss.

So if it seems like the orb is passing through the boss, keep an eye on the orb's color: if it is dim, it will pass through things, if it is lit up, you can proceed as normal.

The one tank strat posted by TheRealArkayn does work, but it seems to be more gear/reaction dependent (on your tanks and healers) as you need to get the tank up quickly after the cone AOE, especially when Focused Anger stacks are high.

My guild has 10 FL on farm, and some heroics. We had a few close calls regarding this, so if your group is less geared than that, I would recommend simply two tanking it. You could use the same positioning for melee and ranged as suggested by TheRealArkayn, just have your tanks angle him in that direction. We all stacked on B for the AOE phase.

5 Bounces are maybe best choice for casual raiding guilds.This boss somehow reminds me of Lord Rhyolith - everything is about control and healing massive AOE dmg.If u manage to kill this boss, that means u have good heals capable of clearing atleast 6/8 of Dragon Soul.

My guild had some serious problems with this boss before we downed him on our 3rd session. here is a run down of my understanding of it, which i feel isn't (yet) covered by other comments here, and how to do it if your an under par group. group had no heroics, average ilevel of the group was mid 370's

Things to understand about the fight

To you split into 2 groups with an aoe healer in both, melee and ranged, thou you want groups to be even, so ranged in melee is fine if your short of melee.

Dark Phase:
There are 4 dark phases before berserk, its possible to do it in less, but 4 is the maximum.

You need to plan your healing cool-downs for dark phases, due to the bosses buff, the first phase is alot easier than later ones.

Ball:
The ball increases damage by 20% with every bounce independent from the boss.

The Ball will always head outwards first, so number of bounces if you keep it simple should always be odd - 1, 3, 5, 7, etc

The Ball has a minimum cast timer, so the fewer bounces from the previous phase, the longer before it will spawn again

The bouncing ball has a hefty range to what it considers a hit, so if your trying to avoid it keep well away - further than graphic might suggest

Other Abilities

Psychic Drain
This ability hits anyone in front of the boss in a 30 degree cone, a hefty 120k shadow damage and heals the boss for 10x damage done.

Disrupting Shadows
A tick debuff that needs to be decursed But warning, when decursed in normal mode, it causes 60k of damage and a knock-back. it will be cast on 3 players at a time and should be handled by 2 healers, this is one of the hidden dangers of normal fight, healers should only decurse after they have topped off the player, and heal up again afterwards, you need to avoid doing this when there is an incoming ball, in one unfortunate attempt, I was decursed as i hit the ball and then knocked back through the ball and hit again (sending it immediately back into the melee group causing a wipe)

Fight:

We found a strategy of 7, 3, 3, 3 bounces to work the best, we tried 5, 3, 3, 3 but had trouble with the berserk timer, a higher dps group with lower hps might find it easier. make-up was 1 tank, 3 healers, 6 dps. despite other comments here, we found 3 bounces easier to heal than more bounces, the bosses stacking buff was not a problem.

To start, have everyone stack togeather and then have the tank and melee group move towards boss, ball will spawn, the tank should immediately turn the boss around. we went for 7 bounces (4 from ranged and 3 from melee) before melee moved out of the way, and tank moves the boss into the ball. a stack and heals the dark phase without cooldowns went fine.

Now for the tricky part, ranged group moves backwards, tank faces the boss 30 degrees clockwise from the ranged group, and melee group moves behind the boss (this needs to be done fast, before a Psychic Drain can occur. because of the 7 bounces the ball should spawn fast. this time 3 bounces (ranged, melee, ranged, boss), when the ball spawns, the tank turns the boss around, the melee group moves behind, and the ranged group move into the path of the ball, creating a straight line from tank, melee, ball, to ranged.

2nd dark, occurs and healers use first cool-downs - there needed this time, step above is repeated, important to face the boss 30 degrees clockwise again, this time because of the small number of bounces the ball will take a while to spawn, and Psychic Drain will occur before ball spawns.

This process is repeated, hero was used in 4th phase (the bouncing debuff applied to boss stacks throughout fight, and you gain an extra 5% damage per bounce, at end of this fight debuff was 16x (80% more damage), druid healer used tranq on 2nd and 4th phase and a moonkin used it on 3rd phase, we also had a warlock and group used health stone togeather on 3rd phase. we downed him with only a little time remaining on the berserk timer, we found the lower healing required on the ball phases due to less bounces made it easier to heal overall.

Normally, we'd do 7-5-5-7 (if even needed, the last 7), but seeing as this was the achievementkill, we took him to 11 stacks the first time around...

Yet another 10m heroic guide... :)

This is a quick cover of how my raid did the first kill and thought to give a few inputs for those looking for advice. It is by no means supposed to be the "best" way to do it, it merely was the best solution for OUR raid!

Setup
- 1 Tank (druid)
- 3 Healers (shaman, priest, druid)
- 6 DDs (2 hunter, mage, rogue, warlock, priest)

Bounces
Ranged group: hunters, mage, warlock, priest. The position is always the same, somewhere to the south (where the portal is).
Melee group: the rest :). At the beginning, the boss was tanked in the center. After the tentacle phase, he'd just stay where the big tentacle was (to the west I believe) during the rest of the fight.

We used a 7-5-5-5 Tactic. After the last orb absorb, we grouped up near the big tentacle so that it could be tanked, but blowed everything at the boss.
The mage always took the last bounce with cauterize. That gave the ranged group time to move to the tentacle phase position.
The spriest would use dispersion on the 6th bounce in the first round.
MS-debuffs are a great way to reduce his Psychic Drain-self heal. The BM hunter provided a devilsaur, which ensured a 100% uptime without any DPS loss.
A note on the debuff: everyone should move out of the group so that they stay in range of both melee and ranged camp healers. Use range checks!

Tentacles
There are 3 different tentacles, and I'll call them just after what they look like: Small tentacles (2), eyes (5), and big tentacle (1). To help with orientation, the eyes are enumerated, starting on the one behind the boss to the north, going anti-clockwise. Thus the eyes on the normal ranged group position side to the south are 4 and 5. This is really hard without pictures.
Once the boss eats the orb, the raid meets where the big tentacle spawns.

Big tentacle: The rogue was the only one doing damage on it (with blade flurry).
Small tentacles: there are two of them near eye 1 and 3 and they need to die first to reduce the damage on the group. Split the ranged DPS evenly and make sure they are killed fast. We set the hunters on the one near eye 3, and the casters on the one near eye 1. Mind that this splits the group by maybe 20 yards. Make sure the group heals are spread evenly throughout the raid. The hunters usually could stay on top of the rogue and the tank to be in range of their tentacles.
Eyes: the casters killed eye 1 and 2 before the black phase ended, the hunters took care of eye 3. The ranged group moved back to their normal position at the end of the transmission, killing the last 2 remaining eyes (4 and 5) there.

We had a rogue stealth and go behind the boss before the pull, and then had the healers back up from the boss until he was out of range. They would then move forward a little until they were within healing range of the rogue, and that is where we'd place our marker for the ranged to stack on. If the boss is centered and does not move around, the void should spawn on the ranged group. We also noticed that it is best for the tank to just run forward instead of charging or something else.

Helpful tip we've noticed and used on heroic:
During the black phase, when the eye tentacles are in a 'crouched' position, they're actually casting so although you might not see a cast bar, you can interrupt their cast and reduce damage during the black phase by a noticeable amount.

As a helpful addition for the people doing this on HC: If you are like us and end up being a bit melee-heavy (4 melee yay!) you should really make sure you set up pre-set spots for everyone to run to and kill the adds close to that spot, main target should always be Flails first (272k hp on 10HC, looks just like the Trash flails) which means any dps with decent dps can solo them, then comes the Eyes (653k or so hp I think it was), you ideally want 2 dps to go in groups to tackle this, we went with 2 melee, with one splitting off to kill the flail and the other going on the Eye by the flail, then the flail killer went to the eye afterwards and they followed a path back towards the Claw, killing everything on their way there before engaging the Claw.

Now, for the Claw, I forgot the exact hp amount, think it was the range of 2.4million or something, the tank simply tanks the boss and the Claw together, focusing on doing dmg and threat on the Claw and just leave the boss as-is for now.

Ideally, you want to make sure the ranged take the furthest target and work their way towards the boss (For us, the 2 Flails, 5 Eyes and 1 Claw always spawned in a semi-circle in the western side of the room)

Now, there is one thing for the tank to think of here: Most (all?) set up a marked melee and ranged stack point, on HC, the melee stack point is not required, since you will usually be having the boss by the Claw when he is about to use the Orb of Unmaking, so make sure the tank is facing the boss towards the set ranged stack mark or player, whichever you use. (The melee just stack behind the boss)

Now, for the bounces, we found 5-5-5-5.... to be ideal, it gave us enough stacks to get him down to low hp without fear of enrage, and not too high to burn our healers mana too quickly (Trust me, they WILL need it for black phase on HC)

(A helpful tip: Spread the raid in 3 groups for Black Phase: One Tank, Healer and 2 melee that will be attacking the eyes close to the tank so the tank healer can heal those, 2 dps and one healer running towards, say, north, and 2 dps and one healer running to the southern tentacles, people tend to mess up here and not send a healer with the dps, resulting in them dying which is bad)

Now, sorry for putting this last, but here is the changes on HC: The obvious higher healthpool and more dmg done by everything, then we have the new stuff: The tentacles that spawn in the black phase on normal now actually becomes attackable, and they really need to die quickly, because of one simple reason: When you enter the Black Phase on HC, you will get a debuff with 8 stacks, every time you kill any kind of tentacle, you will reduce the stacks by 1, it ticks for about 31k-ish every 2 seconds on 8 stacks, reduced by about 4.4k or so for each stack removed, this is the real killer on this phase, NOT the tentacles themselves like some people think.

Other than that I wish you the best of luck with HC and hope you get it down :D

I have had trouble on this boss, mainly due to the melee not moving their butts when we want to smack him with the giant ping pong ball o' doom. I havent tried this out, but I have an idea - turn the boss sideways, slightly away from the range, with the melee more on the "corner" of the boxes hit box (circle corners o.o). Then, the melee would have to run less on the way out. Also, then it would be easier for a solo-hitter (like bubbled pally) to keep the explosion away from the melee pile.

If anyone puts this into action, I'd like to hear feedback. It's not a major change, but a tweak that I believe could prove to be helpful.

Heroic: My experience as a Holy Paladin.

Note: Healers! Download " Zon'ozz Easy Dispel " from Curse Client. It makes healing WAY easier! When people get a debuff: If the box is red, don't dispel. If it's green, dispel. (Just need to click the box; no special bind key needed.)

We set a marker in the middle (for melee on phase 1, ranged for rest of fight), a marker to the left a little ways (to be closer to spawned Claw for melee), and a couple on important platforms where tentacles spawn.

Black phase:
We had our hunters run around to get spawned tentacles, and our Paladin moved max range to keep them alive. (max so I could still heal the group and take less damage). We had our rogue and shaman (Enh) take out near tentacle and Claw, and our Druid and Warlock take out tentacles to the right (or left if you're facing boss).

After Black Phase, we had our ranged in middle marker and melee on black phase marker. We had our DPS stacked on boss' tail while we were waiting for ball, then moved with his tail when tank turned him away.

Our ball pattern was 8-8-8. We tried 7-7-7, but as it was our first time and we're getting used to the transitions, we began hitting enrage right after the black phase or during it. It was not difficult to heal, but it certainly was not a "I'll rest a minute" healing experience.

Fun Fact: one of his abilities is the Black Blood of Go'rath, while Yor'sahj The Unsleeping uses Blood of Shu'ma.

The two names combined spell Shu'ma Go'rath. Shuma-Gorath is a godlike Lovecraftian tentacle abomination in Marvel Comics and the enemy of Doctor Strange.

As of 5.3 all bosses in Dragon Soul drop regular gold (Approx 20-25 gold per person) and, it appears 1 legendary token in both 10 and 25, unless we got really unlucky, as we only got 1 drop off the first 4 in 25m, so we changed to 10 and killed the rest on 10.

Warlocks can easily solo this. Voidlord should last with over 50% while he gains stacks, then when he casts his void, move your pet in the direction. Rinse, repeat, you'll be done after 3-4 voids.

Easy soloed by a 569ilvl rogue. The important thing to do is to bounce the "ball" (Void of the Unmaking) into the boss, making the boss take more damage and making him do less damage. If you manage to bounce it successfully, your gear should not matter too much as the boss is not doing that much damage. Just keep yourself up with recuperate and leeching poison.

Soloable by a Disc Priest on 10N difficulty. (My gear is approx. i581-582, however.)

Really not that difficult of a fight, though. When he summons the void orb, run back and hit it once and then kite him into its path. As long as you're pretty quick with this kiting, I don't really think this boss is any danger at all. He has about 40 million HP, but luckily he takes increased damage every time you kite an orb back into him.

As a ilvl-571-Rogue i killed him solo in 25 nhc just standing infront of him damaging him down - Very easy right now.

Hint: If you're a Rogue use leeching poison in the old raids (if you running out of health), because of the excellent scaling in these instances (hello item-squish :-))

I just solo'd this fight on 10M Heroic as an Arms Warrior, ilvl 547. Just as everyone suggested, fought boss, he spawns the ball, kite him into ball, but in Heroic mode you have the dark phase with tentacle adds. At that point, I kited the boss (while DPSing him), spamming Victory Rush every time I AoE a tentacle to keep myself going. Only hard part was I messed up on the first ball and had to kite him across the room so he'd run into it. After that, kite (Charge/Heroic Leap), DPS, and Victory Rush.

P.S. Only blow your DPS CDs after he at least gets hit by the ball once. You do way more damage due to the debuff caused by said ball.

Solo'ed him on 25H as an ilvl 665 Destruction warlock.

Clear the trash, as usual then have your pet tank the boss.
It's not a hard fight but it could be helpful to solo bounce the ball a few times before letting it hit the boss for some extra damage during the shadow phase.
You can safely ignore the adds during that black blood phase, they merely tickle.

Since about the time of the release of Legion, you no longer have to kill the tentacle mobs around him before nor after killing him. (Before this change, engaging him would cause them to attack you and you wouldn't be able to leave the portal without running over and killing them because you'd be in combat.) They don't attack you when you attack Zon'ozz now.

Got it today on my hunter in LFR wing 1.
