Tomrus as the hidden final mythic boss of Azeroth probably.
Honestly this is one of those situations where I kind of need to step back and take in some considerations that are a bit more meta. Less thinking like I'm some orc or dragon running around on Azeroth and more like some player who's familiar with the development history of the game. One of the main mantras I keep in mind is that the Warcraft franchise is nearly 30 years old if you go back to the very first RTS game. A lot of the "lore" of the original RTS games were built more around rule of cool, aping Warhammer, or taking cues from DnD. Thus, I expect that retcons and rewrites are going to happen, and I often view WoW's overall lore as to being akin to a comic book's lore. Even more so when you realize just how many writers have been involved in making this game (a game which mind you, wasn't exactly expected to succeed back in 2004). Hell in general, there's a lot of writing by the seat of your pants apparently at Blizzard. With that in mind, I'm not really sure what I can conclude is actually inside of Azeroth. You can come up with a lot of theories, but then the writing team can turn around and throw in something completely unexpected.
Maybe none of the Titans are actually of Order. Maybe this interplay between the Six Forces on the Physical realm that causes World Souls to be created is the end goal of the Progenitors. Xal suggests that the universe is MUCH older than the Titans. It's just that Order found them first. Or maybe Order found Aman'thul first and he found the other World Souls and indoctrinated them by taking them to Zereth Ordus or even possibly tampered with them while still inside their planets. The question is, why would Aman'thul and/or the other Titans agree with Order? One idea I had is that maybe their natural birth is traumatic to the extreme. Imagine this; Aman'thul is the first World Soul to be born and in the process he destroyed the planet that surrounded him. As a world soul he was in contact with all those lives and in a moment unwittingly he snuffed them out. And then some being of Order (the Constellar?) shows up and tells him there are others like him and there is a better way; that by setting up all the Forges and Ordering a planet the World Soul can be born with minimal trauma to the planet. In such a scenario even Aman'thul himself would be a victim which makes choices be even more impactful.
It's a shame that Blizzard doesn't know how to tell a story in its game.I feel like to fully appreciate the lore of the game it's necessary to read the books. There is potential in terms of lore but in game, compared to FF14, Blizzard is terribly bad at taking the player into its lore and stories.
sooo nice to read!
Hollow Azeroth. Godzilla and his friends.
What's inside Azeroth? The answer is simple Azeroth is really the planetary super computer Deep Thought. And the Murlocs, are really the keepers.
Love this deeper story perspective, Discordiankitty and Nobbel87. As far as us "trusting" the Titans throughout WoW history thus far, well that's based on our OWN perspectives of putting the Titans on a pedestal that we believed was good and righteous and had a well-intended purpose for Azeroth and its mortals. We looked up to the Titans like children look at their parents, until we come of age and come to realize our parents are mistake-making humans.I question if this story IS being "retconned" by Blizzard-contracted authors, or if chapters of the story were intentionally left out back in the day when the game was first released. Not out of some malice toward the public (the players), but rather because it just wouldn't all FIT into one expansion's game play at the time, just like movies are condensed versions of books. And this is FICTION we immerse ourselves in here, NOT factual world events based in real life, and fiction is allowed the creativity of reconstitution (aka retcon) of "dead" characters to further elaborate on another or missing perspective. In the announcement cinematic premiered at BlizzCon for The World Within, Azeroth is calling out directly to the Leaders who have proven past experience with visions and premonitions: Anduin, Thrall, Alleria, and Magni. Not sure why we haven't seen Prophet Velen involved yet. Of course they all say "something dark is coming". And Sargeras' sword being targeted at someone specific ("someone" obviously being the Nerubians and A'quir as a whole). Like you said:
"The king of diamonds has been made a pawn." No connection with the titans, this refers to the manipulation of N'zoth and Azshara so that the heart of Azeroth loaded by "the champion of Azeroth" (sent on a mission by Magni) reaches them in order to powered the console that can free N'ZothAz'shara herself during the fight said this sentence and to what extent this diamond king was manipulated
Magni, both inches.
I did put comments similar to following in past, but right now this seems to have answer as well as new questions which could resolve everything:"Personally I'm for Azeroth is "FIRST ONE to be born" theory.I started to think that (by myself - without reading or hearing any theories or info suggesting it) when there was mention of other "ZERETHs" after Jailer was defeated. At that point it did look like at very least Void, Order, Chaos AND Shadowlands are trying to shift it into one of their own.Right now there are Naaru (Light) around, but also in-game mention of LIFE being infused into very First World Tree. That means ALL known fundamental powers of WoW universe have/had significant presence on Azeroth. Now most important questions are:- Was Azeroth always First One OR was it given that potential by all powers trying to convert it?- What EXACTLY is ELUNE ? - at this point was at very least 4 aspects to her: Light, Shadow, Life and Death. (potentialy even Order as there are some hints of her cooperating with Titans) - Is she servant of First Ones helping to birth of new one OR even failed First One, because not ALL powers were present at HER birth so now she try to help younger sister reaching that full potential by allowing ALL to affect Azeroth, BUT not allowing anyone to WIN completely."
The old gods were all over Azeroth when the Titans got here, and the tried to pull one off and didn’t work so the imprisoned the rest… but maybe they were too late and imprisoned Azeroth as well. The logo of the new expansions does look like the primalist dragon prisons. Maybe the titans tried to “clean up” the void influence but not admit Sargeras was right the whole time. Sargeras who also tried to throw a sword at Azeroth like he did with the first planet he encountered with void. Whatever may be to status of Azeroth, seems odd all the anti-order talk when the First Ones established the whole of existent and its pantheons in a big machine of order. Everything has its job… well maybe except the force Zovaal hinted at in his end.
Its full of Body type 3 persons and together with Thrall and Jaina and Lich King and Deathwing and all the main NPCs, we have to save them. Lets go, Hero!
