raider.io should be banned. we already have to deal with other players judging how "good a player" we are based on so much stuff, we don't need yet another, unofficial, arbitrary score system to make it even harder for players to just... play the game.I thought the reason people would play wow was to have fun, but apparently in the last few years the reason people play it to get high scores in raider.io, logs, damage meters and other types of things that are not even part of the game.
The thing is though PVP ranking is a system that is wholly in the game and was designed by blizzard. RIO is something that was developed outside of WOW that while it uses data from wow the result score isn't displayed in wow unless you have the add-on installed so they aren't really the same thing.
deleting a whole comment because a word was purposefully edited as to avoid offending someone's sensibility is beyond stupid
In my experience, we don't avoid Warlocks. For certain fights like Mythic Wrathion or Heroic Carapace they are super useful. They're not the flavor of the month for M+, but unless you're running 20s it's not disqualifying. Coincidentally, I was pushing a 16 last night with a lock.IO is not great, but it's better than the tyranny of iLevel, which in turn was better than having no information at all about someone.
yeah networking isnt really possible for some1 on the spectrum, so thats definately out
Two great points this article makes is having a good attitude and being positively social. Although, outside that, I stand by those who have been critical. Imagine making a Raider.IO score guide and not actually telling readers how to actually increase the score itself? I salute everyone who explained the IO metrics already in the comments section and how to actually raise it. That's a huge factor that this article unfortunately misses.
While I dislike raider.io it is less oppressive than the MDI. As a priest it is nigh impossible to join a group even though my score is 2178. Sure I don't push 22s because I don't find them enjoyable. Getting declined when I just want to do a weekly M+ is quite disheartening. Sorry that I am not one of the meta classes but it's a puny 17 key. It is extremely easy especially now with all the corruption.
reroll a better classplay with ppl better than youseems like two toxic tipsbut i understand IO use, when you want to weed out players who dont know what they are doing and dont care to do better.
I don’t understand this mentality of r.io being toxic. If I’m filling my group with complete strangers to do difficult content I want at least a basic idea of their experience. I can’t just give someone “a chance” in a key if they have zero score because I can’t trial people in keys like guilds can trial raiders. If someone ruins my +22 motherlode key that’s it, I don’t have a 22 motherlode anymore. If anything, it’s mythic plus that’s the problem because it’s a 0-sum game.R.io is a useful tool when pugging keys. If you want to ignore it, form your own group and stop playing the victim.
If you treat Raider IO score as a track record (an open ledger anyone can check) of your runs, it works much better than actually trying to assign some kind of (misguided) value to how good or bad of a player you are.It is rather unfortunate that RIO has received so much attention and headspace - it should just be one attribute you use to select a group, an appetizer, instead of the main course. Also, it's unfortunate that 3rd party site is in charge of a metric that community uses for exclusion. I firmly believe this should be something Blizzard should implement into LFG interface.
Stop using LFGLFG is incredibly bad(nah thats how everyone starts just don't be queing +10 when you never even did normal mythic)IO is your foot in the door(it should not be nor should any third party site. If its really this important then blizzard needs to implement their own system on it ingame.)Playing with people who are better than you(microaggression in half this article feels radiating)
I personally love the IO scoring system. It's proof that you have experience in the dungeon/raid.The article says it's like a college degree, and that is exact it. While it by no means say that you have "good" skills, at the very least it shows that you have at least the experience. If you are really fuzzy with getting an experienced group, then go to that character's IO page to check its previous "working experience" just like a job.I, for one, don't want to run with bads, including inexperienced goods. My IO is only about 2000, which is not much to show for, but I'm happy enough to get a 475 every week. But still, I don't want to play with those who are not capable of timing 15s. A dungeon takes half an hour and my precious time is not for carrying strangers. On the other hand, posting a how-to article like this would make supporters like us come off as arrogant.
I agree that the first guy who said 25s are nothing is like the 1% saying that becoming a billionaire is easy. And your statistics seem to prove that it is indeed someone from 1% looking down upon the 99%.
I stopped reading when I saw this emphasized: "Reroll to a better class"Raider.io is a good site if you want to track yourself and your guilds accomplishments and other people too, but the addon itself is one of the most toxic thing since GearScore.
