The need for Raider_io is because the skill-level in M+ has raised more and more for each expansion, to the point people don't wanna play some weeks because of terrible affixes. If they play, they need to make sure people have experience (and the class/spec) to handle it. Regardless how much one dislike raider_io, it is needed because how Blizz construct dungeons ATM. You can't time a dungeon if you don't have ther spec, experience, interrupts, AOE or other in these high demand dungeons in higher levels. Personally I feel Blizz have overdone dungeons to a point that makes raider_io a needed tool.....sadly. And to a point that it is more constant high level brain surgery, than a fun game. You have to make sure you have an actual bran surgeon, and not a demolisher. And thats where raider_io comes in. You don't want a demolisher to poke with tools into your brain do you? ;p
How did I know that something like this would be written by tettles?".io is not toxic but you should reroll to something better cause you won't get invited to group if you are not the right class or have a high .io score that people literally pay to get."Honestly, this is why I play late night. Frostmourne players with 1.5k .io are 9/10 time better players than the 3k .io Proudmoore players.Yes, people get carried to .io. People use streamers and gold to buy their way to a nice rating. That is fact. It is in no way shape or form a representation of a players actual skill.
If you needed more reasons to see why IO is toxic and needs to go, see all the above.
Sorry, but I have to pile on. Wowhead is a great site, but this is the worst article they’ve allowed to be published in a long time. Not only a horribly toxic subject, but the article itself was terribly written. Anything that starts with, “if you don’t get invited, reroll” by default is not constructive and adds to the narrative that only “tier S” is worth playing or gtfo. There isn’t a spec in this game that can’t do all the 15s. That’s so lazy and toxic to say otherwise. A better post would be why raider.io is counterproductive and what a better solution would be in concert with gearscore/ilvl. Why it’s prudent that I keep bad trinkets in my bags to waste inventory just to keep my ilvl to appear 478 when I’m only 474 equipped because that’s so much worse and couldn’t possibly clear the content and you must only invite the player with the highest possible ilvl/raider.io. Posts like this are extremely harmful to the community.
Great Article particularly love these highlights."Reroll, your class sucks.", "Get carried, you're not good enough.", and who could forget, "Play constantly, can't grind IO if you dare to stop playing."RaiderIO in and of itself is not toxic, but these "recommendations" read like somebody dredged the forums and interviewed the angry troglodytes that dwell within.
TL;DR: Beat harder dungeons. That is how you improve your IO score.I just summarized WAY too many words in 2 sentences.
IO scores, just like gear score and item level, are not good numbers to base your judgement on. As with the latter two, they can EASILY be padded. Only thing that matters is if you have gold for your role from those Pandaria trials. You clearly know how to play at a high level if you have that, even for low-skill cap classes. I've never had a "bad" player with gold in their role, but I've had 3k+ IO players that look like they bought their accounts just before joining the group. I almost have Keystone Master (just missing Shrine 15+), and I was never invited to anything above 10 before I got my gold. Having the gold rank in your class shows in the group finder, and people instantly recognize your skill for it. Granted, I also currently main a DPS demon hunter (five whole buttons for top dps!), but still. Showing that gold off is a good way to show that you know what's what about what you play.I never invite based on IO, and I never will. I will disregard any notes that say a number, because I don't see people as numbers. If you have gold in your class, I'll pick you above a player who has padded numbers even if your ilvl is somewhat low, because I know you put effort into learning how to play your class. I haven't been let down yet, though I get flak for bringing people with blue-quality gear to 10+ runs sometimes. (Those that complain just happen to die more than the blue guy, every time)
"Just re-roll. Stop playing what you enjoy, and instead play FoTM where you need to swap classes fairly constantly. You'll never really master any of them, and will be mediocre at best, being carried by virtue it's FoTM."I realize that's not.. actually a quote of what was said, but it still feels like awful advice. This is another facet of the game, or perhaps just the community its submerged in, that tries to pull 'fun' from the game. You have to play the right class with bis gear, and get the right score, and then you can do mythic. But why? And before anyone tries to pull the 'you're just salty card', no, I'm not. I run mythics with a group. I'm luckily safe from the broader mythic+ community. I just wish people would understand that an IO score isn't end all be all and doesn't take into account player skill, not really. On the same topic, in a way, are people in random BG queues who get angry at people who aren't 450+. It's a casual BG queue that anyone can get into. Has gear and echoes. But I've been flat out told to kill myself for being on a newly 120 hunter, and that it was entirely my fault we were losing. If the BG rode on my shoulder alone, I feel like there were larger problems. (Like the DH FC with 1.2M health, and the 600k Disc. Priest). But, I also suppose any form of number is going to give people a complex. Their number is higher, so they take it as a license to harass anyone who isn't 'as good' as them. And obviously we can't just remove numbers. Maybe this just circles into people need to not be !@#$%^&s, really. But whatever, that was just a ramble after having just woke up. Either way, I don't think it should exist.
Reroll to a different class? Really? That's a terrible suggestion. FotM classes change almost every patch and with hotfixes if a class becomes too strong.
This must be the stupidest "guide" I read in a long time. The whole thing can be summarized with "just follow the meta kek"
This is a dumb article.
I really wish blizzard would break this in the api for Shadowlands. I get there will be a toxic system for anything to a degree but its starting to feel like Raider IO is being overly used to force meta comps on keys where meta doesn't matter to a point that it feels like players who don't even know about it are completely screwed. Also the advice "Reroll to a better class" isn't really useful advice as they're probably on the class they like playing and wanted to do Mythic+ on a character they enjoy.
