First Impressions of Augmentation Evoker - A Healer Perspective

boldIntroduction to Key Spells & MechanicsHere are some of the key buff puzzle pieces:

Ebon Might: Your primary buff. Hits 4 players and can be extended even to 100% uptime.

Shifting Sands: A passive and big Versatility buff to 2 targets whenever you cast an empower spell.

Eruption: Your only Essence spender. Extends Ebon Might and deals AoE damage.

Upheaval: Empowered spell that extends Ebon Might and deals AoE damage.

Fire Breath: Empower spell that extends Ebon Might and deals AoE damage + an AoE DoT. Available to all Evokers.

Prescience: A 3% crit buff on an ally. Can put on multiple people at once. Also duplicates 15% of their damage / healing 20% of the time via Fate Mirror.

Blistering Scales: An armor buff on one target that also deals a ton of damage when they're hit.

Chrono Ward: Turns your major DPS cooldown into a giga 4 person shield for their entire health bar. If you have a few Augmentation Evokers through your raid then this is a Spirit Shell level raid cooldown on a very low cooldown. Almost definitely way too strong as-is.

Spatial Paradox: Finally you can give your Preservation Evoker a proper range, even if only temporarily. Your Disc Priest might also love you for giving them the ability to move during their ramp.

Timelessness: Finally you can give your Devastation Evoker proper threat management.

Black Attunement / Bronze Attunement: A max health and movement speed toggle that isn't on the GCD. When combined with Aspect's Favor both of these buffs become massive.

Cast Ebon Might to buff 4 allies. It can never go on more than four at a time.

Press Empowered spells as they come off cooldown for Ebon Might extension and damage.

The population of people who want to play a support class will be drawn largely from healers and will make finding healers even harder and, in dungeons, remove a slot currently occupied by DPS, who will still have a similar population of players.

This is going to make this even worse.

If these are efficient its going to be 1 Tank, 1 Healer, 1 Augmentator, and only 2 DPS per 5 man.
The people most likely to play style of gameplay are already playing tanks and healers, so you're going to stretch the number of "support" players even further.

I hope this spec sucks so much that it's not worth bringing to a group.

Maybe they'll make them 6-mans instead and you'll have a support role (with many classes gaining a support spec)? Having the ability to help the group while doing what I can to DPS, but enabling the people who care for that more than me, to race for those numbers is that sweet spot for me, as the major DPS players have their sweet spot at being number 1 on the DPS chars.
Let Aug happen, and if healers feel threatened - boost the DMG of creatures in dungeons, so that a tank can't survive on absorbs and selfheals alone, and make healers a must on the m+ scene.

I hate that wow turned into an individual performance fiesta led by the world first raiders.
What Retail needs is the option to have a teamplay gameplay. If people haven't noticed right now Classic HC is more played than Dragonflight and in part it is because your team role and performance has more merit over your big D-ps.

On a personal level: My favorite D&D class has always been bard, and now it is coming to life.
