Instead of addressing the root cause issues of their own designs whether it's rotations for classes and specs, boss fights and dungeon mechanics they would rather make their own versions to which I am not excited after the cooldown manager release. They fell into the same exact solution the addon makers did to combat said mechanics.
Ahhh...I'll take "Solutions that no one with an IQ above room temperature was requesting" for $200 thanks Alec.
Honestly, I struggle to see how this isn't an extremely late april fool's joke...Explain to me how you tank or heal with a 1 button rotation helper.Restricting communication is always going to fail, because there's a straight binary of people who are on 3rd party comms (i.e. discord, ventrilo, etc) and people who are not. There is literally nothing they can do about this without banning people who use Discord. Also, the fact they highlight damage meter addons, simply because they're popular, just proves how tail-wags-dog this whole philosophical brainfart is... damage meters are useful after a pull, but mid-pull they're just about the least useful addon anyone is running - even if we do love them giving us the ability to see who's winning the big numbers. The only time you 'react' to damage meters in-combt is when deciding which of the pug DPS you're going to battle res.
ion loves to hear himself talk
The should make it so raid leaders can turn off Rotation Assist in their raids much like how they can restrict people from using pings.
...I don't even know what these kinds of addons are.... People play like this?
Rotation helper is awesome, one button rotation sucks
What happened to 1-Keypress equals 1-Action?I believe it was a philosophy from Ion years ago. Hopefully the spells fire one after another commensurate with their cast times and GCDs.
What an absolutely horrible idea - Hekili is as well. Giving players more BS to look at and mindlessly follow on the screen that isn't the things on the ground they have to dodge, or what they need to kick is insanely stupid.Probably OK for learning but then I'd argue it likely just becomes a crutch. Bad Blizzard.
Hekili shows a recommended "press this next". Gnome Sequencer lets you just press 1 button. Both can sound interesting. But combine them and you can just press 1 button and never learn your abilities or rotation. We're going to have an entire generation of nubs who can do good DPS but can't do mechanics. In a way much worse than it already is. Yeah everyone can just install these now, but most don't. And Gnome Sequencer can be really complicated to set up right. If it's just built in everyone using it will play exactly the same. I wish they'd trim and optimize abilities and talents, not just keep everything but try to simplify through UI. I could see it sucking for finisher classes. But if Blizzard really works on the logic to that level then that shouldn't be a problem. My feeling is just ... if players need fewer buttons and simplified logic for what to press next, maybe actually address those needs rather than masking them. If they want to stick to a more mechanical/dance focus, I've got no problem with that. But what I see happening is going to be them adding even more mechanics because they feel they've simplified basic rotation performance.I can see this as an interesting way to bring in more controller players (not just as a possible console release but controller on PC or steam deck type devices) in a way that's fully supported by Blizzard. And I think that's good. With the extra delay mentioned it means the good players will always be better. But I really don't want a repeat of the skill divide you see in other games that do this like FFIV keyboard vs controller players. Please work on the underlying spec issues.
In-game tools are an excellent idea!Trying to "get rid of addons" is a super stupid and bad idea. Don't remove customisation from your game. It's one of the best things about wow that it can look and feel andwork as you want it, not one size fits all.
bots SALIVATING at the 1 button rotationBlizzard, you can also add basic functionality to your games UI without breaking addons that have been dev'd in parallel with your game over 20 years FYI.
My lil bro had a stroke at 16 yo and this feature will allow him to enjoy the game like never before. Thank you!
Just fix the button bloat, overly complicated classes, and overly complex encounters. Then none of this other mess would be needed.
Is this maybe an out of season April fools joke?Actually, why even bother with the One Button Rotation? Just automate it all and just let me watch my character play itself! Or even better, dont even let me play just send me the gear to the Mailbox!
"Fights are too complex because people have too much information. If we hide information, we can make less complex fights that feel as challenging because no one knows when to do the thing."Count me out. This goes live and my 20 year account will be deactivated.
If you need the game to tell you your rotation, you've failed. Sounds like a participation trophy to me.
