Rotation Assist

There will be a rotation assist in the base UI that can:
Light up the next button you should press

OR have a one-button keybind for your rotation at a cast of a slightly longer GCD

Addons in Competitive Content

We all agree that if you want to be the best you can, if you want to participate in competitive content, there are certain addons that are required.

One day, there's a hope that you can customize your UI and quest helpers and more seemless, but when you're going into competitive content there's no sense that you're holding yourself back if you're not using addons.

There's a lot of steps to get there, and the next steps are continue to build up the base UI functionality to shrink the gap.

At the end, they are probably going to have to reign in some of the functionality of addons to real-time in-combat problem solving -- automatic, coordination, communication in ways that are always going to be better.

Complexity of raid encounters are definitely affected by addons. They used to do coordination mechanics more but haven't recently.

The goal is disarmament. Down the line, broader restrictions on what information addons can access to combat events in real time, but they can't do it now on the UI front, but also how they're designing encounters.

Improvements to the Base UI

They want to build their own features of popular things down the line: DBM / Big Wigs, Details, Nameplate Improvements

If there's a mechanic that requires you to do something between 4-7 stacks only, that's not a reasonable ask with this base UI.

If they remove computation addons, they can remove some mechanics and keep the same level of challenge.

Damage Meters

It is the most popular addon in the game.

The majority of players have one installed.

It's an important information to have. They know that in a world where they limit real-time combat tracking, they would need to provide that to players.

They also know that if they do it themselves, they can do it right without issues like phases or range.

Audio and Visual Aids

Audio prompts are super valuable to people and that's something they want to add support for. This was feedback that they heard about the 11.1.5 cooldown manager.

One of the things that they've struggled on is telegraphing the importance of certain mechanics.

One of the things that they want to do is flag high priority interrupts in Mythic+.

A World Without Addons

In a world without addons, encounters could have mechanics that don't require everyone, things are slower, there's more time to react organically.

The goal is to preserve challenge while living in a different world.

Every mechanic will have to be designed in a different way.

Cosmetic Addons

Everything cosmetic should be completely fair game

Demo in season 2 dragon flight was massively fun outside of the weird nether portal interactions (which could've been fixed blizzard) and was so rewarding when you did it correctly. This leaves 2 other specs to have low floor rotation like destro for the new player or someone who doesn't want a complicated rotation.
