Not a big fan of where this is heading
Then they better pull back and stand down significantly on their design of raids.
can't wait for 50% of dps in my guild start using this and go above green logs(yes i know if every bad player uses it, what green logs are will change)
Seems like a good idea in theory, but most addons have way more features and more frequent updates than I ever see Blizzard doing with them.
Not a fan of this idea. Yes, raise the floor by improving base UI but don't drop the ceiling. Customization is key, for a raid lead I want alerts that a regular raider doesn't, healers want alerts that most dps can freely shut off, melee could want different alerts than range. Don't kneecap the customization that add-ons allow.
Goodbye weakauras and boss mods. This will be fun. /s
&*!@ ,no ... they gonna deliver a half baked feature, let me keep my weak auras ..
This feels like a trap. Often addons overcome Blizzard UI issues. If addons did so much for a player's DPS, then we wouldn't have such a wide difference between player skill. Installing Hekili would let everyone parse. But it doesn't.Some spells barely have any animation to them. Some procs are basically invisible. But we already have a ton of spell clutter. weakauras cuts right through that. I rather like it.Feels like they're fixing a problem that didn't exist, and the fix just creates other problems. The only way this works is if they somehow add the tools in the base UI to allow people to feel mastery at their rotations and THEN remove addon options. If they remove the options without adding the functionality I see a massive exodus from the game (while a few anti-addon people cheer)
Does Wowhead not proofread anything anymore? This article is rife with grammatical errors that make it really uncomfortable to read. This has unfortunately become a pattern across the entire website. I appreciate all the news updates, but this is not X/Twitter—please do better.
Only way this will work is if they hire the creators of those addons. Otherwise I foresee a massive failure in the future
It's a nice sentiment, but let's be real here: These addons are customizable like stupid. Blizzard can't really allow for this broad of a customization, because there is a lot of stuff that can go wrong with that, and Blizzard certainly isn't a company that is likely to want to deal with this kind of stuff. So while their addons will have the same standard usability, they most definitely aren't going to be as in-depth as other addons.
This will be fine.
Meanwhile the entire playerbase waiting for moving of loot roll window to be added to Edit mode....
Glad they are putting the horse before the cart: creating the replacements first.
I’ll be blunt: this is so they can bring wow to consoles and they can burn in hell if they think I’ll stay subbed for it. Lua addons are what originally set wow apart for me.
oh, so no details? but logs will still work
I have complete faith that blizzard and their thousands of devs and QA teams are able to deliver on giving us replacements to Elvui, details, big/littlewigs and plater. These addons have been meticulously crafted and curated over the past 15 years to give players unparalleled customization. Surely blizzard can whip this up in a quick patch and it will all work perfectly, while giving us the exact level of functionality and customization we are accustomed to. (laughs in the new CD manager, you literally cannot remove or add abilities or even move it on your screen right now)Saying addons are keeping people from doing more content is laughably out of touch lol.Hey, can I move the loot roll tab yet by default? no? ok..
This feels like trying to fix something that isn’t broken. Addons like BigWigs, DBM, WeakAuras, and Details aren’t what’s keeping people from doing harder content. The real reason is that most players now—especially those in their 20s and 30s—just can’t commit to a strict 2–3 day raid schedule with 19 other people while keeping up with their class/spec and the weekly activities to maintain their character: keys; delves; filling vault; progressing in renown; participating in mid-season power boost content like Cyrce's Circlet and corruptions; etc.If Blizzard really want more people doing Mythic, they should look at changing the 20-player requirement and removing the weekly lockout. That would make a much bigger difference than removing tools people have used for years to make the game better.Adding some of these features into the base UI might help super casual players who never use addons, like those doing LFR or Normal. But it won’t help the people actually pushing high-end content—and it risks hurting them instead to pursue a disarmament approach.
personally a big fan of the resource manager, hoping that 2nd rendition comes in where you can add abilities or remove!
