To the following people who have questions about this recipe. This item comes from either one of two places either the Treasures of the Vale box's you receive from doing the dailies in the valley of the blossom or from the Ancient Guo-Lai Cache from which you need a key to open which contains this, rep for golden lotus or some other items.

This recipe and the sapphire panther cub both have a 3 percent chance of dropping from these specific places. The pets are however kind of expensive to make as they both take 3 harmonies which take forever to farm. Thanks!

One of two JC pet designs available from:

the Treasures of the Vale,

or a small chance to discover the design from your daily Serpent's Heart transmute.

The other being the Sapphire Cub design.

I finally received my owl design today from my Treasures of the Vale reward (after becoming exalted with the faction a few days ago). Due to a recent hotfix (11 Dec 2012) Mumper confirmed that all crafted pets will be uncommon quality.

You will need:

3x Spirits of Harmony
3x Wild Jade

Even though the recipe is BoP, the pet itself is not so you will see these in the AH. Be aware that they will appear as a rare when created but will only be uncommon when learnt. Keep this in mind when you decide to purchase it from the AH.

The Flawless Magic Battle Stone may be come in very handy for this. There’s also a very small chance to obtain a general purpose Flawless Battle-Stone after winning a match against a wild pet while defeating higher level opponents increases the chances of obtaining a stone. Note that the latter are not soulbound and can be sold on the AH.

I just got this pattern off one of the tricksters over in Mistfall Village. I don't know if you have to be max JC, but I was when I got the pattern.

What is going to happen to these JC patterns in the Vale when patch 5.4 drops...seeing the Golden Lotus dailies will be removed with the change of the Vale....

Since the patch, I have been trying to get these recipes from Serpent's heart. I have been doing it for 2 months. I have gotten gems and 4 primal diamonds (once every 2 weeks). No recipes have dropped. I broke down and bought the pets. I am very close to giving up with Serpent's heart.

Evidently, there are still some Golden lotus dailies and the Ancient Gui-lai cache available. Not sure whether Treasure of the Vale is still available or not. The place we got them before is now destroyed. From my reading you can only get the drop if you are a JC (any level) and the recipe is BOP.
