Heal value is 2269-2773 for 232 set, 2530-3092 for 245, and a single tick heal (unlike Forethought Talisman). The damaging effect is a dot however, and does 2862 and 3192 damage for the 232 and 245 sets respectively. I know nothing about any cooldown, but I would assume a 45 second cooldown.
There's at least one hidden use for this. If you acquire both versions of the trinket (232 and 245) you have nearly 1100 HP/5. That is useless for nearly all level 80 pve encounters, and I wouldn't really argue its use over a pvp trinket and a throughput/dps/battlemaster trinket pair for pvp, but you'll have to decide that for yourself.
However, farming level 70 or 60 encounters, it might have some benefit. It might be possible for a number of classes that couldn't solo, say, the tiger or raptor bosses in ZG, to solo those same bosses if they had a significant amount of health regen... 576 health from the 245, 510 from the 232, and 20 health from
a battle elixir
gives 1100 health per 5 seconds. I'm sure someone will find some creative use for it.
Whether it's less trouble to just find a healer or another dps to 2-man it... You'll have to decide that for yourself, too.

Amazing thing for tanks (mostly warriors and druids) soloing old world bosses. I don't think that anything can beat 13k hp per minute regeneration from both trinkets. It's like having 4

I don't know much about PvP, but this seems OP in at least 2's arenas. Say the fight lasts 30 seconds on a double DPS team. 30/5 *576 = 3,456 hp (also think, it's per player). That's like 345 stamina right?
Say you're a rogue, and the other person doesn't have a mage on their team (for food). It's down to 1v1 or 2v1. You stealth run away for 1 minute, and you gain 6912 hp from this trinket and that's not including bandage. Trinket is worth 691 stamina if you don't have a healer and they can't eat. If you're a mage, and pop full duration Iceblock it's 1152 hp. 115 stamina if you don't have a healer. Or, as any class, if it's down to 1v1 you could PvP (Player vs. Pillar) and kite until you have enough hp to finish them off unless they can frost trap or eat and you can't stop them from because you'd risk getting hamstringed. OP? There is the factor that over the course of a minute of kiting, they can also bandage, making it less of a relative gain... but...
But from what I understand 2's don't matter as much anymore, so being OP in 2's is less of an issue.
I also don't know how often it comes down to 1v1 in any arena bracket. If there are such things as 3v3 triple DPS teams, this might be a good trinket for all of them to have.
I'm writing this in a hurry, and feel free to correct my math. As stated I'm a PvP nub, so feel free to discredit my post if you have more experience

Some people seem to be missing the point of this trinket set: that being, set. Shard of the Scale, by itself, is a decent mp5 trinket. Shard of the Flame, by itself, is a head scratcher. Look at the first set bonus. Now imagine that the stats on this trinket and the set bonus swapped, i.e:
Equip: Increases spell power by 250
Set: Restores 576 h/5
It would be broken. It would completely trivialize the highest IL spell power trinket in the game:

. Instead of giving Ony a single game-breaking trinket, they put the uber stat in the set bonus. 250 spellpower from two trinkets isn't half bad. 250sp, 96mp5, the proc, and the passive regen from two trinkets is certainly worth considering. These are absolutely meant to be worn as a pair.
As far as the value of the health regen, true, it's pretty useless against direct damage. Most encounters, though, it would do a decent job of taking the edge off room-wide damage mechanics like Hodir or Saph (and you know we're going to see more of that in Icecrown). It's around 1/4 of a decent Renew, and it's always active. For healers it reduces the necessity to keep an eye on one's own health.
I'm certainly not going to be complaining when I pick this up to complete the set.

? Did anybody think about wearing this trinket, while skilling weapon skills in AFK-mode? :) its 576hps is enought to keep you up and naked (for as less dps output as posible) agaist a 70 level mob. Just alt-tab in and out every few mins to find next mob to skill. I have found

I am using this trinket for 10 days now on my resto shaman and I have noticed something no one mentioned here. The best spell or talent Cauterizing Heal can be compared with is an Ancestral Awakening. I have seen Cauterizing Heal healing me after I healed tank with Raptide few times... I am not sure if it has been triggered by Ancestral Spirit, but it did heal me few times. I am not sure if it is looking for target with lowest HP, but it will not heal you if you have 100% HP, that is for sure. So trinket is "smart" lets say... It heals for about 3k, and about 5k with critical...

I love this trinket as a prot warrior. I solo old content for gold and this makes it sooo much easier.
All of ZG is a breeze and there is absolutely no downtime for places like Strath or BRD.
This with the Ony head trinket made it so i could 4man the greater half of heroic UK (healer was afk too long).. good times

Ive been trying to get this trinket forever and I finally got it from 10man ony. I was doing some testing with the 10man trinket and its not effected by 50% healing debuffs. It doesnt give the 510 health in one lump some either. I was looking at my health and it seemed to be healing me for around 250 health every 2.5 sec or so. I plan on using this trinket for my 3v3 team since I play 3 dps. Hopefully I can get the 25man version and if I do ill let you guys know if they stack together. Im pretty sure though that you wont get the set bonus for having both of the trinkets.

Is it just me or does this trinket seem insane for arenas? I know as a mage / rogue combo that his could really help a lot. Any other non healing arena groups as well. I don't know about the season 8 arenas but a scaled down verson of this back in BC would have been a must get for all serious PVPers. DK Warrior would benefit from this quite well I would guess. I won't be surprised if melee classes roll on this. Another way to think of this is "Use: Heals for 20,736. 3min cooldown" Don't tell me I'm the only one seeing how crazy this could be.
If you could drag a fight out to 10mins it's the same as 69,120HP. I remember back in season 4, 30min arenas for 2v2s weren't unheard of.
