Read about this mount of the web the first ever phoenix mount was given away to Ezra Chatterton, the young man who recently went to Blizzard's offices with the Make-A-Wish foundation. Ezra was given the first ever Phoenix mount in game for two reasons. First, it was probably the best gift that Blizzard could really give any gamer as far as one of the new Outland mounts. Netherdrakes are awesome, but a phoenix trumps that, if you ask me! And hey, who wouldn't want a mount that could move at 310% speed like the Swift Nether Drake arena award mount. Secondly, as Ezra's father Micah explained to me, the phoenix is an extremely important personal symbol for Ezra.

Blizzard's armory lists this having 1-2% droprate. At 2%, any guild will get 1 Phoenix per year on AVERAGE if they clear The Eye every week. When it drops, you have to be the ONE lucky person from the 25-man raid to actually get it (or have the most dkp). In the end it all comes down to luck. Some guilds will get several and some will never get one.

Phoenix' speed is 410% running speed (310% flying speed). With Crusader aura you will go at 492% running speed.

Phoenix doesn't have visible legs and it will always be flying. In "rest" state on ground it will still flap it's wings. When "running" on the ground you will go at regular epic mount speed. Otherwise phoenix performs like any other flying mount and same rules apply.

Phoenix leaves several trails from it's wings and tail. When you go at 492% speed you leave quite a long trail behind you. You can make some pretty looking trail figures with some fancy flying.

Phoenix mount is the Ferrari of WoW mounts and a guaranteed attention magnet. It's funny seeing people going past you in a hurry, do a full stop, perform a quick 180 degree turn and come look at you.

Im curious to see what this looks like on the ground when you have the disgusting oozeling pet out. It leaves a green aura on your player sorta and turns your mount green. On my dreadstead it makes the flames look somewhat green.

i have seen other players with this mount before on Stormreaver, not hobbs though..... it is a 310% confirmed, but dosnt work on the ground.... oddly enough its normal(walking speed)......
its kinda odd though ive only seen 2 people with it, and after asking them about it, they said it droped nowhere near the instance. one said he even got one off a orc in the hellfire penusla!!!! my guess: the mount is one of those special drops, rarely appearing, or just put in for laughs by G gms

The phoenix summoned by Ashes of Al'ar has had his flame trails restored.
As The New patch notes in 3.0.3 on November 4th, 2008 Show, We can now get this mount again, Even though it is only a 1.6% drop rate, I believe we have gone after mounts with a lower % drop rate! I Hope to see a lot more of these in the game very soon! :D Yay Thanks blizzard!

As someone who only killed Kael a few times before the 3.0 nerf while BC was out, and then farmed him until Wrath launched, I was also under the impression that he would be 5-man-able when I took a solo trip into TK to remind myself of his and his adds HP pool.

For reference after 3.0 Kael himself has 2.1M and each of his adds have 180,000ish HP, the Mage has a bit less, 130,000 if I remember correctly.

Since then my guild (everyone in a mix of 10/25 man WotlK raid content gear) has killed him 3 times for fun/chance at this mount.

The main problem I see with this fight and people trying to do him with as few people as possible is the fact that he still mind controls, 2 people at a time, and I have yet to see it resist so I’m assuming even at 80 its unresistable. This wouldn’t be a problem if they were 70, but they are 80... and when ever this happens our Kael tank slips below 50% health while the healers are either trying to keep the rest of the raid up as our members with daggers try to dispel quickly or they themselves get MCed. Even with the dagger our fury warrior almost always tends to kill someone when he is MCed before he can be CCed/dispelled.

Our most successful attempt was with the following comp:
2 BM Hunters (1 With Dagger)
1 Warlock (Staff)
1 Mage (Staff)
2 Healing Priests - one DSC one Holy (Maces)
1 Feral Druid (Switching Staff/Dagger)
1 Prot Pally (Shield)
1 Fury Warrior (Dagger)
1 Ehn Shaman (Not sure what weapon he was using, if he was using one.)

Also keep in mind, you have to have a certain level of dagger skill for the dispel to work (350 I was told), so you cant just put daggers in the hands of everyone.

So 10 people. Even with this set up the MT almost always took the Pyro due to the fact so many people were either on MC dispels or phoenixes (Fortunately with the HP pool at 80 this isn’t a big problem) and 3 people died before the fight was over.

You also have to remember, if you get MCed, for example, lets say you only have one person in the raid with the staff. If they get MCed, your raid loses the staff buff, Kael disorients you WHILE people are still MCed and not only are you being killed by the people who are MCed but your tank lost aggro and he’s about to launch a 40k pyro at someone who isn’t a tank.

Another amusing thing that went wrong... One of our priests got MCed and 2 shot the other priest before someone with the dagger got over to them or they were CCed.

So... long story short at the moment its near to if not impossible to 5 man this boss. I would say a very well coordinated group could do him with less than 10, but 5 is a bit of a stretch.

Running in with no strat is a good way to wipe on Kael. That fight was never really a dps zerg, it is a technical fight and it is still more than capable of wiping a raid.

The point of running with less people in the raid is to have less people to roll on the mount against you. Should the mount drop, rolling against 8 other people gives you a much better chance of winning it vs. rolling against 24 other people.

11 days after Ezra's tragic death (Halloween), I did Tempest Keep for the first time, I read earlier about his death the same day of this raid, so I found a raid for it and joined in high hopes of getting a pheonix of my own, after 3 hours of raiding, we finally killed Kael'Thas, and everyone in the entire raid including me was astonished to see the pheonix had actually dropped, unfortunately for the other people in the raid, our raid leader ninja'd the pheonix and left the group, anyways, R.I.P. Ezra

No. It's a very low 1-2% drop chance from Kael'Thas Sunstrider in The Eye of Tempest Keep and you can only kill him once a week anyway so it will still be rare forever.

At least I think you can only kill him once a week. I'm not sure how the reset works on raids still.

After having lost it twice ( to two level 79 ret paladins, who both ironically had NO flying skill whatsoever, and who both also had the same DPS... 320!); on both occasions me rolling 98 and the two culprits rolling 100, I can safely say that:

A) Random loot is random (Along with rolls...) and
B) That ANYONE can roll AND win this mount, irrespective of level, riding skill, mother's social security number, etc..!

May I also add that this is an extremely rare, 310% flying mount; hence the stringent instance reset timer and the actual drop chance.

If I get a group of 80s ranging from 10-25 with gear of any level and maby a few 77+, we get by without fighting the other bosses as from what I read is possible to do, how long would it take to do a run of TK the eye just killing kal'thas to go faster to get the mount.

This mount still drops. I never got the opportunity to down Kael'thas during Burning Crusade, but I was invited on a mount run by an in-game friend of mine to tank the encounter and farm the mount. Well, much to our surprise the mount dropped! This was our first attempt, and after all the rolls were done I won it with a 99. I am currently the only Death Knight on the server with the mount, and the first Hordie to obtain it on my server. You can armory "Lechter" on "Ysondre" server.

It looks incredible, and is faster than flightpath mounts with On A Pale Horse to up the speed past 310%. However, whenever you do Kael'thas I highly recommend you get people who know how to loot the legendary weapons and use them to keep the raid from wiping. Poor Kael, if he didn't drop bad ass mounts people would stop farming him.

I've never seen this mount, and it's drop rate is horrendous with a 7-day lockout.
Good luck getting this, it could take years but doing a 70-instance once a week isn't too bad. Good luck to anyone who tries.

Most awesome mount ever. Been seting up some farmruns for it, but havent had any luck yet. I'd give so frikken much for this mount. Got 106 mounts atm, but id easily trade all of them for this1 if i could. Think im gonna get a stroke if i ever see it drop.

Some info:
Kael is not that hard with about 7 players. Its ezzzzmode with 10-15.

Setup:
2 tanks (1 must be warr / pala).
1 healer
1-2 melee dps (rogue perfered)
a few ranged dps

It probably is tons of guides of how u can do this, so ill just shoot in a short version one here.

Kill whoever of the minibosses that comes to u. They have very low hp, and are down in few secs. Then nuke down the weapons, 1 tank (the pala / warr) picks up the shield, so he can use the "Use" when Kael casts pyroblast. The rogue / rogues / melee dps picks up the dagger, so u can break the MC. 1 caster picks up the staff for its "use". Then u set up a kill-order for the minibosses and down them. Then u start with Kael. As long as the tank with the shield uses it whenever a pyro is coming, this is easy. Kill the phoenix (and its egg), and bring Kael down.

If you want to stop this mount being ninja'ed, do NOT let the raid leader turn on master looting. There's no point - if you're going to do normal rolling, you might as well let everyone need on it and the true winner will get it. Why use master looting and risk the possibility of a ninja? Of course, if you're doing this with a ton of 70's who don't want their gear ninja'ed then fair enough, but otherwise, might as well not risk it.

Assuming a 2%ish drop rate, the odds of you ever winning this are very, very, very slim indeed. If you run this every single week with 10 people for nearly 2 years (100 weeks) then your odds of seeing it drop once are approximately 86.7% and your odds of actually winning it are 8.67%. A less than 10% chance of you winning something once every 2 years? That's pretty painful. Yep. I don't think you're going to see many of these in your time.

Chinese Wow servers have been stuck at level 70...when I am in Shat I usually see about 5 Ally with this mount (I am horde) and about 3 on the Horde Side. A lot of Chinese players go to TK just to farm this mount. Usually they have a gold team that goes.. if the mount drops usually 35,000 G. I been just farming gold lately so I can get a chance to buy this beautiful mount!

If people are asking whether you can 5-man it with the current state of the game, the answer is "Yes, you can". Here's how we did it (Keep in mind, we were all mostly 277 geared).

Group comp was:

Prot Paladin
MM Hunter
Mut Rogue
Arcane Mage
Disc Priest

To make it a little more simpler, we used Kings and Gift of the Wild Drums from LW.

Here's how it happened:

Phase 1:

Adds come out one at a time. Try to have all the adds stacked with the exception of Grand Astromancer Capernian, in which the MM Hunter dragged her to the back of the room to die. This helps the Prot Paladin pick up the adds easier and keep them grouped up come Phase 3.

Phase 2:

Weapon phase. We had the Hunter and Rogue both pick up the dagger for MC control, Mage pick up the staff for immunity toward disorient and fears. Shield was not needed for the tank since Ardent Defender will save him from Kael's Pyroblast.

Phase 3:

Mage and Hunter both zerged Capernian as fast as they could, Rogue was on melee adds which the Pally was tanking. Both ranged DPS assisted and single targeted down the rest of the adds quickly once Capernian was dead. Watch out for Telonicus' bombs as they still hurt quite a bit.

Phase 4:

Hunter and Rogue were on dispel duty for MC. If both were MC'd, the other raid members used defensive CDs until the MC was up. Phoenix spawns are inevitable, so kill those off quickly including the egg. As stated above, Ardent Defender saved the tank from Pyroblast unless you could zerg the shield down quick enough and interrupt it. Keep doing this until Phase 5.

Phase 5:

Nothing really noteworthy here. Keep doing your normal routines until Kael dies, and hope for a phoenix mount!

We did this successfully so far 3 times without a mount drop, but we have hope it'll drop eventually. The trash is probably the most annoying thing 5-manning this raid. Yeah, you can bring 10 people and blow through this boss with relative ease, but 5-manning it, especially with heroic ICC gear gives you much better odds at winning the mount if it drops, considering you're only running it with 5 people versus 10 or more.

We're 3-manning him for the phoenix currently. It's quite a bit of a challenge with current gear levels. The key to it is a warrior tank using the dagger to dispel mind controls.

With only one damage dealer the forced transitions after 2/3min for phase 2/3 can be a bit of a problem. The synergy of a warrior tank using the dagger to get +25% magic damage on the mobs in p3 helps if you're using a magic damage dealer.

I imagine it could be possible 2-manning it with a tank and a healer if both can output enough damage to get past phase 3 with maybe 1-2 mobs up.

Hey guys, I just got this mount today, it was a long grind but I finally got it and I couldn't be happier. It took me 28 kills and I just wanted to share a couple strategies for getting this mount. Before I begin I just want to say that all of these strategies involve having a large amount of gold and I'm sorry about that, but there's no way you're going to get this mount unless you're either extremely lucky, rich, or a ninja.

The first strategy I tried was getting a group of people together to farm it weekly, and using group loot and trying to bribe the winner. I tried this for about 7 weeks and decided that it was a bad idea, as not many people would give this mount up for anything, even if I was offering them 80k.

My second strategy was to get set up 10 man pugs weekly and pay everyone 500g when kael died, no matter the drops. This worked for several weeks, but my pugs ended up failing because of bad tanks (becasue the adds aren't tauntable) or bad heals. This would cost you about 5k a week, however it still takes quit a bit of effort on your part.

My final (and successful) strategy was 1st of all to send a mail in game to the top 20 guilds on my server (using wowprogress.com) and asking them if they would be interested in running me through tempest keep every week, and I would either pay them 5k per run, or 200k when the mount dropped. When the mount dropped the GM would use master loot, loot the mount to himself, then trade the mount with me in the trade window for 200k. I messaged about 10 guilds and I got 2 guilds interested, but one guild ended up changing their mind. So the guild ended up running me for 10 more weeks and it dropped. I recieved my mount, their guild recieved 200k (which they split among the raiders, there was 10, so they got 20k each).

Again, I'm just posting these as suggestions as to how to get this mount and how I did it. Sorry if you didn't find this helpful and good luck on your hunt :)

As for the mount, I will simply say yes it is very rare and yes if you catch someone thieving it by all means ensure they have a very miserable WoW experience. After using it in Patch 4.0.3a (yesterday more exactly), I've found that Al'ar now glides. Blizzard must have worked on the new model aswell, since the introduction of the Dark Phoenix, and they both probably glide ('till now it was just wings flapping continuously)

Atm this mount is slightly bugged. It got a graphical glitch so the tail is somehow wrongly connected to the rest of the body and when its wings are spreaded wide, pink colour gradually turns off. Quite disappointing if you ask me but i guess they will fix it in the next patch.

What you also can do, is offering the player who won it some g's for the bee's. I bought my ashes for about 24k from the player who won it. Because it was an alt and he wanted on his main xD. I ran Tk 3 or 4 times max before i seen it drop the first time. It is rly worth the money imo since i still love this mount

Started playing wow in BC, saw a horde rogue with it on our server and wanted it ever since. Killed kael a couple times before achievements came out... No luck.
Started farming this over the past 4 months. At 80 I would bring 8 people, 1 tank, 2 healers, and 5 dps... No luck
At 85 I tried to solo (warlock) won't work due to kael's mechanics with a pet out. He mind controls me, I kill my pet and he resets. So I've been 5 manning it every week. 1 tank, 1 healer, 3 dps, cakewalk.
15 kills and it finally drops, I almost crapped myself seeing it, I was prepared to go for years without ever seeing it. I've been saving 20k to bribe the winner each week. Had 40k on me and if they turned it down I was prepared to offer it all.
Won the roll by 1 with an 84. And I couldn't be happier. I would've died if I saw it drop and didn't win. Many weeks of farming finally paid off.
Keep at it and best of luck. You will never see it drop if you don't try, so good luck farming.

What's worse then never seeing the Ashes drop? Seeing them drop and losing.

I ran this place with 14 idiots a little before cata, thinking the ashes couldn't possibly drop, but of course they did. Some tauren druid that had never been to TK, didn't know who Kael'thas was, or what the Ashes looked like won and proceeded to immediately learn them. Only to complain, once he was mounted, that he didn't get free 310% flying like he thought he would (only reason he wanted the mount) and how disappointed he was because the mount looked "kweer" compared to a badass dragon...

He did OS 10 3D the same day and won the black drake which he's been riding around instead of the Ashes ever since...

My blood still boils to this day, so the lesson is, if you're going to run this and actually care about the mount, then make sure you're can't possibly lose or you'll be very sorry for a very long time, mark my words. I disagree, I don't believe someone that doesn't have the proper flight requirement for any rare flying mount should be able to get it for a number of reasons. The most important one is that there are thousands of players that have been farming said mount for a long time an can use the mount upon recieving it. Letting someone that more than likely has only looked or tried for this mount here and there and that cannot use it is an insult to those who have put in the time and research and has the required skill.

So much hate from people, down rating comments from the fortunate few that have obtained this rare of rare drops.

Regardless of when you got this mount it's still very noteworthy seeing as the drop rate is very low, I know there's still some servers that don't have one at all, and that's 4 years after release. Higher population servers are seeing more simply due to more people going in to farm it.

RNG is RNG, if the dice gods decide to grace you with a drop, weather you get it or not, you should consider yourself fortunate to at least SEE it and be afforded the opportunity to shoot the dice.

I've seen it twice, once in TBC on the last BT attunement run we did, and just a few days ago. I told stories of how i'd been in the raid when it dropped and that it was paid for in DKP dearly. The second time it was all the luck of the dice.

And i've noticed from sitting on it that the tells i get are a fair mix between congratulatory, to straight hate tells, and those who don't even know where it comes from.

I've got no problem passing the information on since I don't hate on anyone that has it. Even if the drop has been increased, which i sincerely doubt, it's still a very very special mount.

It is NOT easy to solo. The trash takes about half an hour to clear, and then the KT fight probably just as long, if you do it your first shot. So that's 1 hour. I myself have not been able to solo it as a ret paladin, it's REALLY hard. I can kill the weapons fast enough, but don't have enough time/mana to heal up to full before the adds res, and I have to blow my CDs in order to kill the weapons fast enough, leaving me with no burst damage to burn down the mage. The engineer catches up to me first, and I die. I am iLvl 355 and used a vicious crit trinket for the removal of a conflagration.

So no, it is not easy to solo for most classes. Only locks, DKs and hunters have proven is POSSIBLE, let alone easy. I have not seen any paladins or warriors confirmed having done it yet, which is surprising. At this point, for me I think it's just a gear thing. Maybe when 4.2 rolls around and I get full 396 or whatever the item level there will be, it will be easier. Maybe I should try it as prot, although I don't think that would be enough damage.

Even though it's been available for a few years now, I still rarely see more than 1-2 players actually riding this pet.

Kael is probably soloable for some classes (deathknight / paladin), but 2 manning him or even 3 manning him is a huge risk due to his mindcontrols.

If you make a balanced 5 man group you should be fine though.
It's a lot faster than soloing as well.

You really have to love rare drops like these.

When you run the raid and your on the boss you heart is pumping faster and faster as his health goes down. You are checking everything to see if it is going to work. He dies. You run up and your hand is shaking when clicking the loot button. You see it. Your heart drops to the bottom of your feat. You can't believe your eye.

Just got this beauty today! Made a 5-man group for it with the mount reserved for me for 50k. I never thought it would drop, since i had already seen it once and some random guy who had never been to TK won it and didn't care about it at all. Since then all the runs i do are with the mount reserved. As a friend told me once, gold comes and goes, but this mount stays! I guess some few people are lucky enough to see it drop twice, so for all of you mount collectors like me, don't give up!

I've obtained the mount yesterday, and I can't explain in words how happy I am.
Here the steps I took to hunt for the mount:

Ask your guild to make you eligible to create guild events. I got promoted in my guild, so I created the guild events on my own.
Create a Tempest Keep raid for every week, and make it available for everyone >70 to sign up and participate.
Each time I took the leadership for the raid, and assigned master looter to myself. My guild was okay with it, because they trust me, and I was the one creating and leading each raid.
I did the raid for a total of 8 times. 8th time, the mount dropped (I was lucky)
We all rolled for the mount, and a guildmate won the roll
I asked the following to my guildmate: "Can I buy the mount for 35000 gold? Yes or No"
My guildie answered: "You can have it for 35k"
I opened the trade window, gave her 35000g, and looted the mount to myself.

This way, it doesn't matter how much people participate the raid. Just offer a enormous sum of money to the winner of the mount.

(If he wanted the mount instead, I would have give him the mount. I'm not a ninja)

Some calculation on win chance:
If I can calculate it roughly, and if I base it on a 5-man run each week:

- 1.4% drop chance / 5 man = 0.28% win chance per 1 raid.
- 100% - 0.28% win chance = 99.72% lose chance per 1 raid.

The calculation on total win chance is:
- (1-((99.72%)^X))*100
Wherein X = the amount of attempts

Scenario:
- 5 man raid
- Every week 1 attempt
- Everyone rolls need on a fair roll for the mount

Amount of attempts - Total chance for winning the mount:
1 - 0.28%
2 - 0.55%
3 - 0.83%
4 - 1.11% (one month)
5 - 1.39%
26 - 7.03% (a half year)
52 - 13.56% (1 year)
104 - 25.29% (2 years)

The drop rate of this mount has not been increased or decreased.
I made a ticket myself because in 2 weeks I happened to see it drops twice and I got it both times. (Paid the winner)

The only annoying thing about having this mount is how other people constantly go, "oh the drop rate must have increased" when they see you on it, as though saying so is somehow going to diminish your having gotten it.

There's still only six hordeside on my server (Kel'thuzad US) and it took me 36 kills to get mine.

The topic of chance drop is always a sticky subject. The key is in the wording and what you mean by 'chance'. The possibility of a drop will always remain constant. The probability will increase the more attempts/roll you get on an item.

So in essence the majority of previous posters are correct but only in terms of how they describe their 'chance' of getting the drop.

For some weeks now, I solo Kael'Thas as a moonkin, you need some stuff, I would say that a 359 ilvl helps a lot to manage your mana bar and reduce the length of the 4th phase.

I use a Lunar Shower spec, with 2 points in Furor to help my mana regen, you would probably get rid of it once you managed to do it a couple of times.
Also, overwrite your Glyph of Wrath with the Glyph of Starsurge.

Be sure :

to have 3-4 free slots at least in your bags before engaging KT.
to bind on your bars your weapon (main hand at least), Cosmic Infuser and Staff of Disintegration
to use your innervate as soon as you are at 55% of your mana bar.

Trashs :

First you need to clean all trashs until Al'ar (dragonhawks patrolling included)
Go right (or left, your choice)
Wait before turning left (or right) to Kael'Thas, you must kill trash mobs just before Solarian (Void Reaver) room entrance, then go clean the way to Kael'Thas (you don't need to clean all trash packs in KT room, just then one at your right (or left) when you get in

P1 :

Thaladred : Pull the boss, then go at TK entrance, right in the corner, you can wait for him before Al'ar room to dot him (just one line of dot, overwise you could kill him), finish him in the corner, be careful with his bump, when you go in the corner, be sure that you're not too close from him before.

Sanguinar : He will come by the opposite side you cleaned, use the same tactic, like Thaladred, be sure his fear won't throw you out of the instance, kill him at the same place.

Capernian : Sprint (Dash + Stampeding Roar) to the side you cleaned, and go just before KT room, in the corridor before the "laser" door, wait for her, LB*3 + Rejuv, dot her before she conflagrates you, kill her, no difficulty there.

Telonicus : Go back to al'ar room, use the line of sight to make him get out of the corridor, one line of dot, wait for 20 seconds left on Remote Toy to dot him again, when he's dead, go at the corner between the main corridor leading to solarian and the one leading to Kael'Thas.

P2 :

The legendary weapons are not hard to kill as a moonkin, just stay where you are (described above), plant mushrooms (if you see you won't be in solar for this phase, keep your starfall up for this, just be in Eclipse state), make them detonate when they're all there, thorns, dot them all, starfall, barkskin and lb*3 + rejuv, finish them, loot Cosmic Infuser and Staff of Disintegration, then go to Capernian corpse.

P3 :

Capernian : Put hots on you with the mace, switch to the staff, and use it to get the cc-immunity buff (all this before she spawns), kill her, no difficulties here.
Telonicus : He will come 4-5 seconds after she died, if you did it time, deal with him the same way you did with Capernian.
Sanguinar : Coming 5-8 seconds after Telonicus's death, get away from the laser door to prevent fear problems, kill him.
Thaladred : He will come 10 seconds after Sanguinar's death, spam your moonfire to kill him, while you go toward the place you were to kill the weapons

P4 :

That's the hard part of the fight, wait for Kael'thas, hot yourself with the mace, when you see him from the bottom of the corridor, equip your staff and get the buff, before he comes to you, show yourself and dot him, get out of los using the corner to interrupt his fireballs.
When he reaches you, use the other side of the corner and repeat.

Things you will have to manage :

Arcane Disruption : he should do it as soon as he's close from you in the above-described situation, be sure to have the staff buff on you at this moment. When he did it, equip the mace and lb*3 + rejuv on you, the buff has a 30-second duration, so you'll still have it for the pyroblast, switch back to the staff for the next Arcane Disruption
Pyroblast : You should have the fire resistance buff from the mace, check anyway, or it will get you to 15~20% life, and it's really hard to come back at top life in this fight (except without Tranquillity), be in moonkin form for the damage reduction, he will probably do the Arcane Disruption just after the Pyroblast
Phoenix : Dot them when they show up, keep your living stars proc (or your starsurge at least) and your starfall for the egg's spawn, kill it fast, don't let them revive, or you could be easily submerged.

You'll probably need some time to manage this phase, don't forget to use your innervate on cooldown during this phase. You'll mainly bring him down to 50% while moving from place to place, if he just did his pyroblast and is under 60%, heal yourself with the mace until he does his arcane disruption, equip your "cataclysm" main hand, use all your cooldowns and kill him, don't care about phoenix spawns, you'll kill the during the transition.

Transition & P5 :

Burn him down while he goes to the middle of his room for the event, don't go through laser door, come back then to the weapons' place. Countdown about 15s after his last emote (while he goes up and the wall breaks apart) and equip the immunity staff. This phase is really simple, kill the phoenix when you are under the effect of Gravity Lapse, use line of sight to cancel his casts, repeat and rinse, if you manage to have at least 30-40% of your mana bar at the beginning of the 5th phase, it's almost won, just be sure to not be touched by the floating dark spheres while you're in the air, or you won't hold the whole p5.

I hope this guide will help some of you guys, it's far easier to do it as a feral, but hey, where would be the fun ? :p

I have been soloing this as a Shadow Priest off and on since Cata dropped. Got it last night on my 25 run.

Now for my strat for soloing Kael.

Begin by clearing all trash up to Kael's room, including all the trash in Alar's room and the hallway leading to Voidreaver.

Start the fight and immediately running the the entrance of the Instance during the RP speech, if you are slow you will be locked inside the room and its over.

Kill both Thaladred and Sanguinar while you are at the entrance. Keep your back to the wall wile fighting Thaladred and apply Fear Ward when Sanguinar shows up to avoid getting thrown out of the instance.

Once they are dead head to Alar's room, Kill Capernian near the ramp on the right side of the room. Once she is dead, quickly head over to Void Reaver's hallway so Telonicus comes down the way you cleared the trash.

Kill Telonicus near the enterence to Void Reaver's Room.

Once the Advisers are dead the Weapons will spawn, Fight them in the Hall leading upto Kael's room, As soon as they are in range, Sick your Shadowfiend on the Shield and Fade off the agro. Use those 10 seconds to Burn down the Shield as fast as possible as it interrupts spell casting and you will die. Once the shield is dead Kill off Mace next then multi dot the the rest of the weapons down.

Make sure to Pick up both the Mace and the Staff as they are needed during the fight with Kael.

When then Weapons die, or after 2 min, The advisers will all wake up, Since you have spread them out all over he instance they should come at you one by one, simply kill them in the 30 seconds or so before the next one arives, You will need to have the Staff Equiped During your fight with Telonicus and Capernian. Make sure to recast Fear Ward when Sanguinar shows up. Simply kite Thaladred, around untill all of your Cooldowns are up or untill Kael spawns.

Just before Kael spawns equip the mace and cast any heal or Glyphed PW:S, this will give you the Mace buff reducing Fire damage taken by 50% for 30 seconds, you will need to keep this up through out the fight, at all other times you should keep the Staff equipped and active so as to not fall victim to the his AOE stun, it looks like Arcane explosion. Kill the Eggs when the Phinoxes die to prevent them from Re spawning.

Occasionally he will put up his Shock barrier and begin casting Pyroblast, at this point you should Pop Archangel or Shadowfiend and burn through the 80k needed, once the shield is broken Silence him to stop the Pyroblasts. Alternatively you can just Disperse the Pyroblasts and/or heal through it.

Once at 50% he will run away and then start casting Gravity Laps, sucking you in and putting up a Shield, simply swim away and keep yourself alive, he is for the most part immune to all damage during as he spams his shield. Once gravity laps goes down its back the the previous grind, keep it up and eventually he will fall.

Simplifying it a bit, keep the Mace buff up, keep the Staff equipped and active, PW:S on cd, line of sight and heal/renew when needed, use CDs for mana, cast SW:D for mana if needed, always Keep dots rolling, kite the Pheonix and always kill the Phoenix Eggs. Once past the 50% mark the fight is much pretty much over simply burn him down while keeping yourself alive.

The mount dropped for me earlier this week - something I'd honestly never expected to be lucky enough to get. RIP Ezra Chatterton - I've been beyond excited to get this mount, but I haven't forgotten and will not forget the one who will forever be associated with it - Ephoenix, the first rider of the phoenix mount.

Obtained 3/8/12 on Uldum, Alliance side. We did it with 5 people, 1 tank, 1 healer, and 4 dps. We did a fair /need roll, and I won it :) I am so excited it is beyond words. I have never seen this mount drop, and I am sure I will never see it again. I have not seen anyone else on my server with it, either. Best of luck to those who are farming, it is a beauty and a real attention-getter.

Our guild farms Kael'thas Sunstrider for this every week, along with some other bosses that drop mounts (Sartharion 3D, Malygos, and Onyxia). This mount by far stands the test of time. It is simply gorgeous. No matter what you are doing at the time it's extremely difficult NOT to notice someone flying past on an Ashes of Al'ar with its colorful streamers, the trail of awesomeness. It by far is one of the biggest "look at me"! items ever put in the game. Between this and my Azure Drake, I'll be happy with my flying mounts for about forever. I am an enthusiastic mount collector and have a number of other very cool and/or prestigious mounts, but I always wind up coming back to, and taking flight on my phoenix. Just can't help it.

Even more awesome than the mount itself is the story of its first recipient, Ezra Chatterton (http://www.wowpedia.org/Ezra_Chatterton). If you haven't read about it I highly suggest you do. By far one of the greatest things Blizzard ever did. If you have any soul whatsoever it's nearly impossible to not be moved by his story. Every Lunar Festival, regardless of what else I do with the holiday, I always visit Elder Ezra Wheathoof in Thunder Bluff to pay respects and honor his memory.

Quite possibly the greatest mount ever created in the game.

Just got mine on my 15th kill. First solo attempt. 4/9/2012.
I can get ashes but I can't get the White Hawkstrider from the 5 man after 149 kills. lol.

Just decided to do it on a one off today, managed to solo everything cept Kael'thas so got DK tank friend to come help me kill him, Ashes dropped and only reason I got them was cos he didn't realise they'd dropped and passed on everything XD

Confirmed:

You don't have to kill Al'ar (or any other bosses) for Ashes to drop. Got them yesterday on my 4th solo attempt, and I've never killed Al'ar

You also don't have to worry about the two trash mobs on the far sides in Kael's room; they won't aggro as long as you don't get close to them

Kael's mind control ignores the tank, and requires line of sight to affect anyone else. No need to ever suicide anybody

I have two accounts so to make the fight incredibly smoother I'd use my Blood DK for doing the actual kill, and my warlock to just wear the staff for cc-immunity and he stayed out of line of sight when applicable to avoid mind control. Occasionally toss dots on as well to speed up the kill. Easy

I got this mount on 4/24/12 on Magtheridon 3 manned it with a tank heals and ranged dps I was super stoked when I got it as you can imagine. Thought of Ezra to. Strength and Honor my friend.

This item really seems to bring out the extremes in people more than any other in the game. I have read and heard about UGLY fights and ninjas where entire servers have put a ninja on blast. But, despite this, I was able to experience the extreme good that this item can produce as well.

I had become friends with a death knight in my guild, and I had been teaching him WoW (he was very new to the game; he never had anyone to guide him. Quick learner and talented, but just needed a nudge in the right direction). I had been trying for weeks to solo Kael, and I wiped countless times on the weapons phase as a mage. I couldn't take a 5 man group into this place because I would be devastated if I lost the roll on the extreme chance it dropped. One day I decided what the heck, I'll try and two man it with my friend. If I lose the roll, at least it is to someone I respect and can I be genuinely happy for. He came along with me and we cleared out all 3 TK bosses leading to Kael just for fun and a bit of gold. I quickly went over the strategy we were going to use to my friend, and after a few attempts to learn the fight as a two man, we finally got it down.

I was able to finish off the final phase of the fight with my friend dead, and I killed Kael while surviving with 100 health and 0 mana (as close as it comes). After the epic end to the fight I went over and looted, and there it was. On some divine intervention, the ashes dropped. Even more shocking, after the initial freak out of seeing it drop, my friend passed on the ashes and gave it to me for helping him out in the game so much. He knew how much I wanted it, and he gave it to me as thanks. He had said he would give the mount to me before we went, but I didn't believe him at all because NO ONE passes on Ashes. I've seen how many people have said they would ninja this if they had the chance despite being honest players normally (I'd even made it painfully clear how rare this is to him).

After I mounted up on my ashes I offered him all my gold, to power level his alts, buy all his enchants, get any mount in the game for him, and basically anything he wanted in the game he could have it for the rest of time. He denied all of it and refused to take anything because he said he was paying ME back (I forced some some stuff on him though haha). I still massively disagree with him on who is paying back who in this situation (I still buy him things he needs). Out of all the ugly stories this mount dropping can produce, this is the last thing I would have ever expected to happen to me when I saw it drop.

Now, here's to farming Kael till the end of time to get my friend his Ashes!

EDIT: IT'S WORTH MENTIONING THIS IS AN OLD GUIDE AND YOU PROBABLY DONT NEED TO FOLLOW THESE TACTICS ANYMORE. But, I'll keep the guide here for prosperity.

A moderately well geared Blood DK's / Monk's brief guide to soloing Kael'thas for Ashes of Al'ar. with tips on how other classes could do it. Brief enough to read as you do it! (but read it first anyway) NOTE this guide was made for Cata and is probably even easier now.

Also edit for interest, patch 5.1 December 6th 2012, I finally got Ashes!. I haven't been farming it every week but it has taken, estimate about 20 attempts? Guess I'm pretty lucky.

First, clear the whole raid. You don't need to kill the bosses but if you can't do them you probably can't do KT, to test yourselves on them. All the trash needs to die though.

Enter Kael's room, aggro, then run to the start of the instance. Put your back to a wall and wait for the warrior dude. He does knockbacks, don't get knocked out the instance, hence why you keep your back to a wall. I learned that the hard way.

As SOON as he dies, run to the back of the phoenix room, in the middle but not up the stairs. Kill the paladin dude.

Next, pelt it upstairs and go into either tunnel - doesn't matter but I usually go to the right. Kill the mage as soon as you see her, she should get to about the bottom of the corridor that leads to Kael's room by the time you get there. Be warned, her disorient can't be broken out of (except if you have staff but DKs can't get that).

Then, run up said corridor after you kill her, and kill the engineer dude. Kill him quick enough and you won't get his annoying stun debuff. You should now be right near Kael's room, a purple barrier thing stopping you getting in. That's fine.

Kael will now summon the weapons. You need to kill them in less than a minute or so but try not to blow CDs. You'll need them for the next bit. Pop a CD if you have trouble killing them before the next step but it'd be better if you didn't. NOTE: If you're doing this as a class that can equip staves, you mightaswell equip the Staff because it makes you immune to the disorient. You'll do less damage but it's the disorients that get you killed, so this way is much safer.

Kael ressurects all adds at once after about a minute and a half or two, with more than twice their original hp. This is the most crucial moment of the fight. As he starts saying he will do this through yell, time it so that by the time he's finished, you've finished casting Army of the Dead you can start nuking the closest guy to you; the Engineer. This is where you need your CDs. You need to get the engineer down (about 400k hp) before the mage at the end of the corridor can run up to you. Icebound Fortitude if you get affected by his debuff before he dies, as you really don't want to get stunned whilst you take on the mage, or are still taking down the engineer.

Kill him and then kill the mage as fast as you can ASAP. This is what I call the danger zone of the whole fight. If you don't kill the mage fast enough, you get disoriented for 9 seconds and you can't break out of it. Or if you arn't a DK you can just pick up the stave and you don't have to worry about the disorient at all, it just takes longer to kill them.. which isn't a problem. But otherwise this CC is unbreakable and the longer the mage is around, the smaller your chances of doing the fight.

Bare in mind you've got the paladin incoming. Tip: use Anti-Magic Shell to not get affected by the disorient and nuke her down with whatever you got left. Finishing the paladin and warrior should be easy enough. Fighting them all at once is virtually impossible and the sole reason you spread their corpses around the instance to start with. Unless you have the staff.

Finally Kael comes out. I run back up to the purple barrier blocking his door and fight him there. Interrupt his Fireball when you can and save anti-magic shell for his pyroblasts. Kael will STILL hurt like HELL, even as a lv70 raid boss. Don't underestimate him. Kill the phoenixes and phoenix eggs that spawn, and stay out of the glowing fire crap on the ground, basic stuff really. When he gets to about 50% hp, he runs back to his room and does some stuff. I use this time to heal up, get CDs back and so on.

(Alternatively, you can run near to the start of the instance and fight him in Al'ar's room. The reason why running back might be a good idea is, when he gets to 50% he will run all the way back to his room, spend about 30 seconds powering up, then run back to you. If you need more time to wait for CDs or anything, try it. I usually find it fine to just sit outside the purple door to his room, though.)

When he comes back he will have a new ability; Gravity Lapse. Basically the moment he uses that, just run away and hide behind a sticky-outy bit in the wall. In fact if you just run away far enough you should be fine but I hide behind it anyway just to make sure. He starts spamming Nether Beam, which reduces all stats by 10% and stacks 9 times. You can't beat Kael if you let that stack on you, so all you have to do is run away, so you don't get affected by it too much and can carry on smacking him once he stops. Then it's just rinse and repeat as he was with above 50% health, except the running away from Nether Beam part.

It took me a few tries to get it right, was about to quit before giving it one more shot which worked.
I tried again recently thinking it would take a few tries but can do it pretty much first attempt every time now.

Good luck. Sell TK boosts to people after you get the phoenix for extra monies. Boost people on RP realms who want T5 for super golds.

Just got this tonight. My friend and I started farming this back in 2008. We did it every week, proving that this drop rate is accurate or even lower. No idea how many time we did it.

At 80, we did a group of 5.

At 85, I'm a Priest and did it with another priest. Very easy to 2 man. I can even solo it, but it's a bit tricky and very close. After farming this for 4 years, both my friend and I have this mount. It shows that friendship can get you anything.

Account wide mounts have been confirmed and have been added to the beta. Now that mounts will be shared between all of my characters, I will be farming this mount on all five of my 85's, greatly increasing the chance of getting this bad boy.

With the new information coming out about Account-Wide Mounts in Mists of Pandaria, those of you who, like me, desperately want this on their main no longer have to fear running TK on an alt.

Where before, you had to run it in fear of seeing the mount drop while you were on an alt, now it doesn't matter. Race those toons to level-cap and start farming this guy ten times a week.

With any luck, the Phoenix will be yours in only a few months' time instead of ten billion years.

Bump this up - I was never a religious KT killer but this was my 7th attempt in 3 years on my DK and it dropped.

I'm on Lightning's Blade -US and this has dropped for at least 1 guildie every week and on my server - countless others.

I'm sure they increased the drop rate or we're just really lucky - but not a week goes by where at least 2 people get it....

Midnight on the other hand...... :(

I went to TK on my healer, the characters first time, my third. This mount was mentioned by the raid leader several times and I knew that if it dropped my chances of winning were slim, due to a full raid group. After downing Kael, we were all shocked to see it drop, many of us had never seen it, including the raid leader. We all rolled for it, many of us praying to the RNG gods that we would get a high number. I won it, barely, with a +1 over the raid leader. People offered me all of their gold, but I really wanted the mount all to myself. The raid leader was bummed at the loss, but was happy for me. After a little talking, the raid leader and I became friends and I run with her on her TK attempts.

36 runs on my ret pally, 34 runs on my warrior, 30 runs on my 1st Dk and 11 runs on my 2nd DK that's 111 runs and still no mount.

I made 2nd DK specifically to farm Ashes, it kills me a little every time I see people flying around with less than 10 kills.

I just ran TK on my blood dk. I died the first time cause of the CC, it was 2 much for me. Second time I almost died but I made it to final phase. I downed the boss and to my surprise the mount dropped, it was so worth staying there. I almost cried :D. So 500g + mount yes please! Well im a happy camper when pandaria comes out since all my chars will have this mount. Just remember if soloing if you get through the disorientation part you could ez do it. With a 2% drop chance, it's higher than just about any other mount drop in dungeons/raids. The Amani War Bear, of course, is 100% if you beat the timer.

I'm so happy to finally get this mount. This dropped my very first attempt many years ago and I lost the roll by one. To lose and be so close, we all know that feeling of losing out on something you really want. It's not a good feeling. But, I decided not to give up. After 70 attempts, it finally dropped again and I was lucky enough to WIN the roll by one. I know it's a comment that people won't care about, but after that many attempts to see it drop again and to finally win, no one is going to take this away from me. It's cliche, but very true. If you want it bad enough, you'll be rewarded one day. :)

I got this Badass mount yesterday abou 3:00 PM,

Really glad I got it It's just VERY beautiful, However, I first did the instances nearby, The arcatraz, The Mechanar or However you spell them! >_< A few guildies and I decided too catch up people and do a firelands run, but we didn't find as many as we thought so we threw in ourselves in Tempest Keep instead! Jeez good we didn't find peeps! I was already there and I Summed the group with my mate Darión when he came, (I was already there because I had done the instances nearby) The group got inside We cleared thrash, Killed the Bird wich has the same model as Ashes of Al'ar. Then too the giant robot, We did not kill that third boss we just got too the main boss and wiped him out quickly, We were like 10 85s. However the mount was reserved for me and when the boss was dead and I looted him, I saw the mount laying there, I got like 500 heart-beats a second and the leader passed it over too me. Now I am riding on it and many people are saying gz :)

You also get a Feast of Strength Achievement from getting the mount. I am really happy that I got it, The chances were low and I "KNEW" It would not drop, I am still glad we never got enough people for the Firelands!

Beautiful Mount, I am Lucky having it! :)

I heard a rumor this was being removed as a drop in Pandaria - likely only a rumor, but if anyone gets this to drop in patch 5 or later, please post so we can confirm it still drops. If it doesn't, the rate is so low we'll probably never know for sure anyway though.

This had dropped August 1'st 2012. My very first run of the eye on my main death knight EVER, i was amazed to see it. Everyone in the group knew it was on reserve for me. However our guild healer left and we wiped, logically i searched through trade chat for a new one. Me being myself, forgot to let out new healer know that ashes was on res. Well, as i said, it dropped, me being the master looter i eagerly selected my name. The healer was furious at the least, since she didnt know it was on res despite the guild letting her know it was, she made us do a roll. The guild all tried to get the mount for me. Unfortunatly, the 3 remaining guild members of The Holy Knights could not win me the Ashes of Al'ar, i am still hunter for the beast and i am determined to get it back. Keep fighting guys! It will drop for you too!

Just in case anyone was worried "oh, al'ar didn't drop in my solo runs so far, now it might have been removed", no, it didn't get removed in MOP, dropped today on my 66th attempt of which first was 8-man not even going for the mount but just for the achievement, a few 3-man mount farming, 15-20 2-man warrior and mage, like 10 more time soloed as warrior, like 34 times soloed on dk, all of this at level 85, and once on a level 89 rogue and dropped on my first and last run on my 89 mage. Got some screenshots in case someone doesn't believe it still drops, till then there's no need to post them.

I got this pretty thing on a wednesday at 1 am, me and my friend enterd the eye around 0:30 and it was killed around 1 am, i dont know why but i always loot bosses that drops mounts some seconds after death mounts mostly drop when i wait a bit, but anyways, i looted it like 15 sec after death and i saw the icon if ashes at this moment i was screaming like the little girl i am, my friend was laughing, and was so nice to pass the mount for me, but still gonna do the eye every week till he gets it, happy farming everyone, it will drop sometime

A friend of mine had been doing TK for several months, years probably, always in PuGs without Master Looter to give everyone who helped kill the boss a fair chance at the mount. A couple of times, I went with him.
One night, we were having particular problems with Kael, as he kept glitching out on us. We had to restart the fight a good seven or eight times before finally downing him. I ran up to Kael's corpse and clicked on it.
The mount had dropped.
We decided all to roll need on it, apart from the priest, who most nobly passed on it. So I clicked the little dice button and waited. Needless to say, I was slightly disappointed when I saw I had rolled a 64. Then I kept reading the numbers. 33, 18, 15... the other numbers weren't as high as mine. I checked my bags and saw the icon there, refusing to believe the possibility of it to be true. My heart skipped several beats.
Then something clicked in my head and I felt terribly guilty. "What", I thought, "will my friend think of me? Will he ever even talk to me again?" So I ran up to his character, opened the trade window, dragged the mount in there and pressed "Trade".
He ignored the trade. Just like that, after I had forced it on him, no price, nothing, just for our friendship's sake. He absolutely refused to accept it, believing that as I won it, it had to be mine to keep.
After a good ten minutes of arguing and making him swear we wouldn't fall out over it, I gave in. And so, by the honour and goodness of one of the greatest people I know, I came to own this extraordinarily beautiful mount.

: Today, 6th of March, my friend finally got his Ashes. I am so happy for him, you cannot believe :)

My fi and I ran for this beauty today. He was a level 90 monk while I was a level 85 hunter. During the fight I died but he took down Kael'. In disbelief and awe the reins dropped and he yelled: "Don't Need!" I greed on the reins and he got his phoenix (first time running the dungeon). If I had rolled Need I would had won her... but, fate smiled on me when we ran for the Virtuous Stone Drake afterward and I received its reins.

I obtained this mount about 6 months ago doing a relatively small pug run. All 6 of us rushed to Kael to down him quickly, it was meant to be a simple xmog run.

I was the only healer and our group kept wiping because everyone didn't seem to know the mechanics. My friend and I explained them and we gave additional attempts. After the 8th wipe I was just about fed up with this group until I remembered that it would be rude to simply hearth out. I stuck through and we downed him, barely, on the 9th attempt.

The mount dropped and I lost the roll by 3. Luckily, the winner was a guildy and sold me the mount for 200k.

I see now that this item is purchasable on the BMAH. I'm sad to see it won't be as rare anymore, but I'm glad it will give more people the opportunity to enjoy this fantastic mount. But beware, my 200k buying price of the mount has been scoffed at by many so if you are truly interested at buying this mount from the bmah, you better have well more than I paid. Good luck!

Just a little pointer: Kael'thas is now quite effortlessly soloable as a 90 Rogue with at least halfway decent gear and a Combat spec.

The best way to do this would be to clear one of the two hallways leading up to him of trash, then killing the advisors into the hallway. Make sure Capernian dies quite a bit away from the others so you have time to nuke her down before Telonicus' Remote Toy or Thaladred's knockback start messing with you. The only real issue is the phase with all 4 advisors at the same time - Kael himself MIGHT hurt you a bit, but just keep Recuperate up and use cooldowns intelligently.

I've been doing this boss 2/3 man with same friends almost every week.

Today we did 2man it. After 38 kills it finally dropped ! I rolled 73 and my friend rolled 80 :P. He deserved it tho

Having just done this as a rogue for the first time solo (i usually try with a healer friend, we were at it for quite some time at 85). I still used the tactic that a pally did soloing back at 85, which was to start the fight, run out the room and to the front door, take down the 2 minibosses there, then run back and take the 3rd (caster) up the ramp as if your going back to KT's room and then brought the 4th into the room with loot reaver. Took the weapons on the ramp while going back up to the caster.

Not entirely sure what happened but after about 30secs with the caster (knockbacks were keeping me away alot) i suddenly ended up ported to the front door with the first two i had pulled there. Caught me off guard a bit but dps'd them down and worked my way back, by the time i was leaving Al'ar's room all 4 were dead and it was KT coming through the door. With level 90 and gear from Hc's and a few bits from LFR he was not very bad at all.

Did use recuperate once or twice but nothing more, also used Leeching Poison, but i never really felt worried, remote toy was as annoying as always though.

And the bit i'll prob get hated for, the mount did drop :D

After 102 kills on my paladin alone, and a few others scattered between other toons, all with the mount reserved, it finally dropped for me. Nothing can describe the pain and emotions I've gone through farming this mount. I've literally dreamt about it. Feels good, man. I will never use another mount ever.

I can confirm with Mists of Pandaria this can be solo'd. Of course it would be easier solo'd with a pally, warrior, dk, ect. It may be difficult after just hitting 90 but I did it as soon as i hit on my DK as blood and could get it. If you have a ranged character then you will need to pick up and use the staff on yourself.

You will want to kill the MAGE first. If you are having difficulties then kill the guy with the GUN second. After that it doesn't really matter how you kill the other two. If you are low on health then you should have time to heal up before KT starts to attack you.

If you can't solo this then you will actually have to have safely like 4 or 5 people simply just because if there is more than one person he will do his MC and people will start attacking you and it hurts really bad. I'm not saying that it can't be done by 2 or 3, but when I tried it as 2 Mages and a Priest, the Mages both got MCd and killed the priest in a few seconds.

This is not hard to obtain nowdays. Me and a friend decided to farm this mount. Now in MoP the encounter is easily soloable. We used 2 Character each, hunter and druid, and shaman and druid. So we each got loot 2 times each week. Took us 3 Months(he got it after 2months, i got it after 3months). Basicly if you kill it with 2 toons every week, it shouldet take more than 25 tries. You can allways be unlucky, but this one has quite a high drop chance.

I dont like the trail the mount makes, as i tend to get it in my camera(Point of view). My guildmates dident feel sorry for me though :(

This mount just dropped for me today 5th of December 2012. Soloed boss as 90 windwalker monk with no problem at all. My ilvl is 475. Used touch of death on da female blood elf Mage, instantly killed her cause wiped on her annoying spells the 1st time. Expel harm and chi wave all the time to regen health. Kill fast.

To all the people coming here and saying "ohh i got it 2nd run, is drop rate increased?" no. People have been saying the same thing about the onyxian mount. The fact is were 90 now and these bosses are so easy to solo now. Almost everyone is farming these so for a good amount of people to get it, is not out of the ordinary at all.

Mount drops rates have NOT been increased. Just because it drops for you doesnt mean you have to question the drop rate and post about how you got it your second try

Got this yesterday on my (frost) mage.
I did Kael about 6 weeks in a row, before I got it. Not a lot of tries by any means.
I might be somewhat done with 'mount farming' now actually. I have the hawkstrider from MGT and now Ashes. So I have both of Kael's mounts. The sweetest thing about obtaining it was the achievement popup in the guild chat, and everyone's congratulations.

I have been farming this for over 4 years now. 104 kills on my main account and another 20 ish on another account. I refuse to buy it off the BMAH just because I want to feel as if I earned it after all this time. Ashes, I will have you!

Edit. 5FEB13 119 kills. No luck. 97 ony clears with no luck also. The game hates me.

Edit. 13FEB13 103 ony kills and got the mount. 125 kael kills and still no luck.

Edit. 26FEB13 139 kills. It dropped. Now to malygos farming. =)

Lets break it down a bit.

Think of a graph, where Y represents time farming and X represents how important this mount is. X=Y(Squared), based on that formula you can clearly see that there's a point where you farmed the mount so much, that its no longer gaining any importance, its simply wasting your time.

I am currently farming this mount for my collection, i have obtained all satchel mounts, the fiery warhorse, onyxian drake etc. The only thing that is a bummer is i have managed to obtain some very rare mount's in my time, i have farmed TK longer than any other place, and i think that i have drained my luck completely. I will continue to farm, and i wish everybody luck and congratulations if you manage to obtain this beautiful mount. Kael'thas is one of my favourite hero's within Warcraft. All i have left to farm is the Ashes, and the Azure Drake. Then my 'solo' farming is complete, wish me luck!

Just decided to run this, for the first time since last expansion.
Really, I just couldn't sleep and needed something to do for fifteen minutes while I got drowsy.
So, I decided to see if my poor little Ret paladin could solo this.
I ran in, and died...but wasn't tired yet, so I gave it a second chance!
Able to kill his four annoying adds whilst bubbling to get one down, so I wasn't fully CC'ed the entire time,
I was able to get passed them and onto Kael!
Phase 4 rolls around and I'm full health feeling pretty good, and officially tired.
He drops to the ground, I drop him!
He drops... Ashes of Al'ar

Now how am I going to sleep!

unfortunately this isnt a rare trophy anymore.... after the buff to the drop rate and TK becoming easier to solo this mount is seen all over now... quite common. doesnt have the same spice it used to...once you see 4-5 other ones floating around.

This dropped yesterday. We were there for a priest chest token off kel. a shamy and prot pali with the holy priest, longest fight ever... 2 classes that could heal kept Kel at near full health. Shamy kept me hexed when I was MC.

Was so shocked to see the mount drop that I staired at it for about 50 seconds and then went "Yes, everyone needs" about 50 more seconds passed before the priest asked "we all needing?" He won. ;) Best consolation prize for not getting the drop we were there for, ever.
Now to see if me and the shamy can get one to drop

Every single rare epic pre-mists has had its drop rate dramatically raised in 5.1. I don't understand why you all are in such great denial. This isn't due to more people running it, everyone has been seeing more epics. This week alone i have seen both ashes & onyxias mount pop up, that is a 0.00012% chance according to wowheads current data. While that is obviously in the realm possibility you all really need to start accepting that the drop rate has increased. Just watch 奧妮克希亞飛龍韁繩's drop rate for a week and you will quickly see it raising oddly fast.

Last night on an impulse I ran tempest keep on my warrior. I had just seen someone with a dark Phoenix and I thought of ashes. I flew out and did some archaeology in the way and when I got to tempest keep, I was. Expecting to get some their tokens that I had form other raids. I skipped the other bosses and kill kael thalas without using the fake legendarys which you dont have to use. I clicked the loot widow and I saw ashes. This was my first run of tempest keep and you can see that I got the archive for finishing it at the same time I got the feat of strength. I'm going to run it again with guildies and see if it will do 1/1000 drop ie a second drop in a row. Btw, I did brag a ton and spammed gs chat cuz I was so happy.

Also, I think any class can solo it at 90 if they have some sort of self healing ability like recuperate, second wind wich is now getting nerfed so I'm running all the bc raids while I can or anything else. You will get it at some point if you don't give up. It also is the sickes mount in wow and I've had people wsp me saying of they could they would pay 275k+ which I think I would have to take for it. And it is the ferrari of wow. People wsp me all the time saying they love it. I've had a guy on a tlpd say he would trade ten tlpds for just one roll on alar. Also, if your n a medium server, you wi ll be the only alar some people have ever seen. Also buy the Phoenix hatchling so you can have alars sun fly along side you and you wil the the !@#$ dat da %^&*!es love

If you enter water while riding Ashes of Al'ar you will be dismounted and you cannot remount Ashes of Al'ar while you are underwater. Ashes isn't the only mount that does this but the effect is to make it look like he got "extinguished" when you head in, which makes me laugh when it occurs.

Just got this, dropped on my 15th attempt of solo farming as a combat rogue(483 gear currently). Started farming it when I dinged 90, as my gear improved the fight became trivial. I recommend using a pvp trinket to break the 9 second disorient. With a little bit of finesse and keeping recuperate up, the fight was no problem and I was able to do the entire encounter in the main boss room(no kiting) which saved a LOT of time. I will actually miss farming this a little bit, as this was always at the top of my wish list! Time to find something else :)

Was bored and thought i'd give the eye a quick run through befor the reset hadn't been back there for awhile and was the first time soloing it for me, and was suprisingly so much easier then i thought dont think i ever fell below 80% health in ret spec, well ran in there and straight up to Kael'thas and right befor he died i think i heard him say "god take the damn thing i'm sick off seeing your face" and then when i seen what loot he had given me i think i cried a little on the inside for his death.... I GOT HIS DAMN BIRD

After years off wanting this mount and cursing people i seen with it, now i can be the one people look at and go 'so pretty'

Just this got this mount tonight after probaly a span of 2-3 years of farming Kael. I don't think I will miss Tempest Keep one bit. It is a lot easier farming it at level 90. I use the pvp trinket and at level 90 you don't need to kite them out of the room like you had to at level 85. Its very easy for combat rogue. You can use cannabilize if your a undead to replenish your health if need be. Recuperate helps since the adds go down pretty fast. During 3rd phase. I would suggest killing the lady first. She can be a pain. Then try to kill the engineer. The other 2 I would definatly save for last. garetjaxx area 52 horde side.

Just got the mount on my DK's first Kael kill, I hit level 90 tonight and thought I'd go kill Kael for fun to see if I could solo it and it dropped....I've killed him many times over the years on other toons but never really expected it to drop. I've wanted this mount since the Burning Crusade expansion, and it's finally mine, I think this will be the last flying mount I'll ever ride

solo'd on a frost mage without pet or mirrors (mc will screw you if you use either). found it easier to just spread the bosses out, so i cleared most of the raid for better kiting. his pyros hit hard, so LoS is all but a must. i also recommend invocation, as the frequent heals keep you a little less stressed.

was fortunate to get this on my 8th run. though not so lucky with other mount runs, this is the grand prize for me. would've been worth months and months of grinding. don't give up!

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but this is quite a noisy mount. The only flying mounts I have that are as noisy as this are the Netherwing Drake, and the 2 engineering Flying Machines.

I absolutely adore the appearance of Ashes, but as someone who regularly AFK's on my mount whilst doing other things on the PC, the noise can get extremely irritating after a while. A small pay-off for such a beautiful mount, but something worth noting in my opinion.

As of MoP, Kael'Thas is soloable on all classes. Depending on your spec, gear and class, you can solo the fight different ways. If your DPS is lower, you're probably going to want to solo the boss differently.

Basic mechanics for soloing:
As the mechanics in TK are still very important, there are some mechanics when soloing you don't want to ignore.
P1: No class at 90 should have any problem with adds; the advisers abilities are trivial one at a time.
(If healing is a problem for you class, kiting Thaladred is a good idea. If you let him smack you, it may be a good idea to pop a bubble type defensive CD to neutralize the debuff after he's dead.)
P2: Again, should not be a problem at 90. If your DPS is on the low end and you have trouble with P3 starting before the weapons are down, make sure you're interrupting the Cosmic Infuser's heal. Other than that they can be AoEd down very fast. The only weapon worth equiping still is the Staff of Disintegration: it will protect you from stuns for Telonicus as well as disorient from Kael'Thas. (Remember that you must equip the weapon and then use it for the buff.)
P3: This is the phase where things start to get messy. The advisers' abilities all together are a real nuisance, you will have to prioritize the four adds on this one or you will be CC-locked.
Grand Astromancer Capernian: She will cast a 10 second conflaguration on you every so often. She also has the least amount of health among the advisers. When soloing, she should go down first. (melee will want to attack her with their backs to a wall as she does have a knockback that slows)
Thaladred the Darkener: He hits by far the hardest and will silence you in melee range. He can be kited and saved for last, as he walks, rather than runs, but due to his damage output, I recommend killing him second. (He does have a knockback, which can help if you want to kite him.)
Master Engineer Telonicus: He will maintain a debuff that randomly stuns you for 4 seconds
(There is no GCD on this, so it is possible to be stun locked indefinitely, however implausible). Depending on how you plan on soloing this, determines his priority.
Lord Sanguinar: Once in a while he will fear you for four seconds. At 90, his damage is trivial and is not a significant threat on his own.
P4: Kael'Thas will become targetable and you can now work on him. Alone, you do not have to worry about MC, as he does not MC the tank. However, he can still hit fairly hard so this phase is when you want to pop CDs (offensice and defensive)
Pheonixs should not be a problem if they are killed as soon as they spawn (as well as their eggs). If left alone their AoE will add up, and if multiple pheonixs are up, this will add an unnecessary amount of damage.
Flame strike is another unnecessary damage causer. Simply step out of the large red circle.
If healing is a problem for your class, interrupt pyroblasts (silence works best, he will cast three in a row)
Silencing him will cause him to melee which does relatively no damage.
P5: At 50% health, he will return to his spawn point. (He may cast another disorient or MC between phases) When he returns to the ground and becomes targetable again he will throw you into the air. If you touch the ground you will be forced back up. Fly down to around his head height and begin to DPS.
When he casts netherbeams you will want to back up. It lowers you max health be a percentage each tick, if he gets enough stacks on you he can easily one shot you.
He will continue to spawn pheonixs but while in the air, their AoE won't hurt you; so unless you have nothing to do, you can usually leave them. His flamestrikes will also miss while you are airborn.

High DPS soloing:
If you can pull the numbers, the fight is really not a problem. In P3 you may want to take all the advisors except for Capernian to the back of the room, to give you extra time to nuke her, or incase she gets off a Conflaguration. Depending on how well you can heal yourself, you may also ignore the pheonix - should you push P5 before a second pheonic can even spawn.
Casters: If your DPS is high enough and healing isn't a problem for your class, the staff isn't really necessary. If you are not going to use the staff, during P3 you may want to kill Telonicus 2nd or 3rd, and leave Sanguinar alive until your Remote Toy debuff expires.
Melee: When positioning Capernian, keep in mind that her fireball is not bound by LoS, only by pathing. To position her where you'd like, you will have to make her chase you which can be annoying. (Hiding behind a wall will still make her run that extra little bit.)

Low DPS soloing:
This is essentially only for very poorly geared DPS, tanks and 85's.
You will want to use the whole instance for the fight. Clear a full path to the beginning of the instance. If you leave the room before Thaladred becomes attackable, you can use the entire instance for the fight. Kill Thaladred and Capernian at the very beginning of the instance (be aware they both have knockbacks and if they knock you out of the instance, the fight will reset.) If damage isn't a problem, kill Telonicus and Sanguinar both just outside Kael'Thas' chamber. Otherwise kill Sanguinar in the big room where Al'ar patrols(or patrolled if you plan on kill Al'ar first) If you aren't using the staff, pop offensive CDs to kill Telonicus first and then Sanguinar until Capernian arrives (Only focus Sanguinar when there are no other advisers on you (Note: for tanks who are barely too low DPS for the normal strat, you can use the shield to get out of Sanguinar's fear and help with another defensive CD)) Try and get Capernian down as soon as possible (if using the staff, pop offensive CDs). You do not want Caprenian and Thaladred up and on you at the same time. If Capernian is low, finish her off and then work on Thaladred. Otherwise it's probably GG. Make sure to stay away from walls and falling or Thaladred may teleport you to him.
Kael'Thas himself is essentially no different, though this strategy is much more likely to push P4 while advisers are up.
Once Kael'Thas is up and the advisers are down, the only difference soloing based on DPS is how much stress you have to put on the mechanics. (interrupts not mandatory for tanks.)

Pet soloing:
Pets can be quite useful for eating Capernian's Conflaguration. If you send your pet(s) at her before attacking her yourself, it is much easier to bring her down.
With a pet, either you or your pet will be subject to MC. If you can keep yourself up, you can either tank the boss yourself and LoS your pet from MC, or dismiss your pet. If your pet is capable of tanking, you may also LoS yourself from MC and have your pet do all the work. When Kael'Thas yells, "Obey me!" or "Bow to my will!" he is casting his MC. After that you have no more than 20 seconds to DPS the boss/ heal you pet. You will want to kill the pheonixs yourself if possible, or have you pet do it, as they will hit you pet for a notable amount.
In P5, netherbeam's debuff will affect your pet too, and your pet may die if you don't move it.

I just got this to drop for me after years and years of nonstop farming for this lovely mount. It does not even feel real that it just has after seeing hundreds of kills with nothing and two times seeing it drop and losing it. Keep going at it guys, one day it will drop for you! I was flying this after I used Aqua Jewel, and found that whilst it still made the mount almost invisible, the long pink trails the mount leaves behind are still as bright as normal. I felt a bit like I was flying a firework.

The long-term chances of the mount dropping for you at LEAST once are: (assuming you solo Kael every week and that the 2.1% drop chance from wowhead is accurate)

6 months - 40%
1 year - 67%
18 months - 78%
2 years - 89%
5 years - 99.97%

If you don't get one after 5 years then you need to ask your mother if you were cursed as a child.
(If you're killing him on multiple characters every week then just divide the times by how many characters you do it on, eg if you did it on 5 toons every week you'd have 99.97% chance of seeing at least one drop in the first year)

Got mine tonight while soloing as an ele sham. I did notice something different, during the last phase when he raises up into the air and the big animation is happening he spawned a Pheonix, i killed it and the egg it spawned before the animations finished and he became attackable again. I'm not saying this had anything to do with it or a sign, but who know...?

I decided to start farming for this beauty a week ago, once I learned that you can already solo this place.
Today, I was soloing the place as a holy paladin. It was a pain tbh. I even wiped near the end and had to go again. I didn't even expect the mount to drop, the chance is ridiculous after all. The boss was down and I looked through the loot. Nothing...nothing...nothing...WAIT WHAT? Ashes of Al'Ar, the dream mount has dropped and I'm the only one in the group!

I just made an account to post that today, after years of farming, this mount finally dropped for me. After essentially accepting the fact that I would never get it, running TK became more of a habit than anything. While raiding during BC, I saw 3 mounts drop out of 7 kael kills, then never again until today.

It's everything I hoped it would be and more. Don't give up!

I got it just now with my Mistwaever, ilvl 507, after doing it for about 50 attempts.
I use 鶴旋踢 to finish the trash. Use 幽冥掌 to one-shot the 大星術師卡普尼恩. Use 刺擊, 虎掌, 滅寂腿 and 碎玉轟雷掌 to kill Kael'thas. Use less than 10 min to finish all of them. So happy!

I just got this today while soloing on my paladin, i'd say somewhere about 10-15 runs. Nearly crapped myself when i saw it.

Also, to help with the all the stuns and ccs phase 3 leaves, what I did (found this online somewhere) was I took each one during phase 1 to different corners of the room. The first 2, thaladred and the bloodhammer guy, went all the way to the back. The engineer and mage were on the side of the room Kael is in. Then on phase 3, I killed mage, engineer, and the next 2 don't really matter, at least for me.

Also, on a side note, I also got the white hawkstrider a few days beforehand while farming for the phoenix pet. Kael just really liked me this week I guess. Good luck on this!

I was super nervous about 2-manning this raid w/my bf who's a 90 Desto lock & I, a 90 BM hunter but at ilvl 504 for him & 506 (at the time, i'm at 511 now,) it was easier than I expected. We burned through the trash mobs easy, then burned through Al'ar pretty easy as well.

What surprised me was that when we got to Void Reaver, he shoots you up in the air & I hit deterrence & lived but my bf obviously doesn't have that so he got shot high up & died when he came back down. Maybe pull boss near a wall to avoid crash landing to your death if you can't do deterrence, slow fall or levitate.

High Astromancer Solarian was an easy take down. No problems at all.

Now onto the last boss. I was sure I was gonna die. Because I read on here how hard it is because of all the phases & fighting all the bosses at the same time in Kael'thas Sunstrider's room. It wasn't as bad as I had thought. Killing the advisors 1 by 1 was pretty easy, fighting the weapons was pretty easy. Fighting all the resurrected advisors was pretty easy. But when we started fighting Kael'thas Sunstrider, we got to the part where he turns everyone against you & he turned my bf & my pet & stampede against me & I was down to half health but it ended fast enough so I survived & just burned him down.

Mount didn't drop but it was our 1st attempt so I'm not too sad. At least now I know how to do it.

Let me clear this up once and for all ! Ashes of Al'ar's drop rate is approximately 2%. It is based on the # of times Kaelthas Sunstrider is killed on the server, not on the # of times you kill him. Consider a 50 sided die numbered 1 to 50. Every time you roll it, there is a 2% chance that your # will come up. But you have to consider the fact that a whole bunch of people are killing him each week. So, realistically it's not really 2% for you, it's 2% based on everyone killing him on your server.

I dont consider myself lucky in wow but I got this mount on my 22nd solo run. Since patch 5.3. I 've been farming the battle pets from the old world. Another time I stopped by Kael to give a try on the mount drop. I was really suprised when I found the mount among a few old epics. Knowing my luck i think the drop chance has been increased. I also see more and more people around with this mount.
As for the boss I think it is surely soloable by pretty much every DPS lvl90.
I have no problem on my frost mage. The most challenging part is the return of the adds x4 with all their CCs. I summon my mirror images and just burn down the adds ASAP. Right after that part its' better ti dismis pets to prevent MC from the boss resetting the whole event. For the same reason I suggest to solo this fight. Extra person can be a reason for the hassle with Mind Control during the very last stage.

I think I have done this raid 1 time before, so I decided to do it for fun with a buddy, and this mount drops, he rolled higher than me tho : ( I will farm this mount from now on tho.

Just dropped for me on my first solo kill of Kael. Just came back to the game after about a 6 month break. I used to farm this with a friend all the time and never saw it. So happy. Arms warrior, 463 equipped ilvl, 510 weapon. Was extremely easy to solo.

They have DEFINITELY buffed this drop rate. Along with some other things like onyxian drake etc. I just got this on my first solo farm as a hunter today and several others in my guild have gotten it within the past month or so. 2 people even both got Onyxia mount in same day. Don't give up hope, keep at it!

ok, so is it bad that I ran tempest keep for the first time ever after hitting lvl 90 for the first time same day and got the mount on first run ever! like whaaaaaaaaaaaat! don't belive me look at my achievments, name is kernel on fizz'crank realm, if u look at dates of both achievments (complete tempest keep) & (ashes of al'ar) you will notice they are both completed on 7/19/13 I orig just went in for completion achievement but got super lucky what are the chances! w0000t!

I'm seeing a lot of comments about this not being rare anymore or the droprate was supposedly increased. You see more of these mounts now simply because Kael'thas is being killed more than ever. Any decently geared level 90 character can now kill Kael'thas with some ease, the only difficult phase for most being the four advisor phase with it's stunlock goodness.

today i decided to start farming this beuty of a mount and so i read about it and watched a few videos then tried my first run but sadly no mount.

i told my girlfriend how simple it is to farm and she asked to show her on a alt and so i did but i said if the mount drops i'll need lol.. and so we did it and guess what the mount dropped! i rolled 59 she rolled 99.. her first time and she got the mount! i offered all my golds which was about 60k but no she flew into the sunset and left me sulking :(

Mount dropped on the 15th of August, 2013. After coming back to the game from a 3 year hiatus in April, this was my number one priority. Here's a list of what went on during the time I was farming:

* Leveled main character (priest) to 90, immediately started farming for the mount. As a priest, Kael was incredibly easy, even with good gear at level 90. The ability to use the staff at that time was the most important though, especially with alternate characters whose gear was not up to par. That is due to a DPS and sustain issue if the staff class did not have a heal (i.e. hunter).

* Leveled a second alt (DK) to 90. The DK I had a bit of trouble with at first due to the fact that I could not use the staff and had poor gear (<480 avg). I noticed that without being able to use the staff, I could not even survive in blood. After attaining a gear level over 480, I was able to burn down everything rather quickly in frost spec, with a few potions of course, and in blood, it just took slightly longer. If you go for the mount as a DK, it's important to note that Army of the Dead is an incredibly useful spell when Kael revives his companions. They usually attacked Capernian so that was an excellent distraction while killing the others. Also, on the note of burning bosses, the level 90 talent Desecrated Ground, provides 10 seconds of free character control, so use that effectively. One should also note that Desecrated Ground does not stop the knockback effects of Capernian's nova so be advisable and use line-of-sight tricks found at the bottom of this page.

* Leveled a third alt (druid) to 90. The Druid class went about the same as priest. You can use either feral or balance (never tried bear) and it doesn't really matter because the sustain is excellent for the content level and druids can wield staves.

* Leveled a fourth alt (paladin) to 90. The Paladin class was by far the hardest. In fact, I could not even get past stage 3 (resurrection stage) simply because the CC was too much for me to handle. I tried almost everything I could think of, including bubbling and burning down Caperian, focusing all ranged attacks, including the level 90 talent on Capernian, and various kill combinations. The most amount of advisers I was able to kill was 2, sanguinar and telonicus, before Kael came out and the double conflageration type CC stopped me from acting. It should be noted that I was in PvP gear (mostly Malevolent, 1/4 tyrannical), however, I don't think it would have made much of a difference.

* Leveled a fifth alt (monk) to 90. The monk was a bit more interesting in trying to go for the mount as she seemed to take much more damage than any other class I was using aside from the Paladin. Like the DK, the monk ability "storm,earth, and fire" helped out significantly because it distracted Capernian while I burned down the other advisers in stage 3. Another ability that I found useful was touch of karma. You can save that one for Kael if you want, but I found that I got a lot more damage out of it in Stage 3. It is advisable to save your tiger's eye brew for when it reaches ten stacks, not only for the damage buff, but because it heals as well. When my health was low, I'd start healing with the spheres and if it was still low at the end of that heal, I would pop energizing brew and be at full health no problem. I was able to kill Kael with my monk at an ilvl of about 470

* Leveled a sixth alt (hunter) to 86. No attempts made.

Some things to note about the Kael fight:

Stage 1: You fight the four Advisers, Thaladred the Darkener, Lord Sanguinar, Grand Astromancer Capernian, and Master Engineer Telonichus

Stage 2: You fight the Legendary Weapons that Kael summons

Stage 3: You fight super powered and ressurected Advisers all at the same time

Stage 4: You fight Kael until 50%

Stage 5: You fight a super charged Kael

* I found it easier to kill the cosmic infuser first on Stage 2. This is particularly helpful when one doesn't have quite enough AoE to out-dps the holy-nova-heal it uses. It also saves time in the short run because it gives you a chance to rest after all the weapons are dead (longest interval between stage 2 and 3 I received was about 1 minute). This gives time to regenerate health mana, and whatever else you might need.

* The farther Kael is from the main platform in Stage 4, the more you can bring him down below 50%. This is important, especially as a melee class, because in Stage 5 he will summon untargetable black lightning clouds around himself that reduce your health by 10% per stack (maximum of 9 stacks) for 45 seconds. So if you don't have good gear, this can turn into a problem real fast as his pyro blasts do around 15,000 damage.

* The Advisers in Stage 1 and 3, weapons in stage 2, and Kael in Stage 4, are susceptible to line-of-sight targeting. You will notice two big statues of Kael'Thas when you enter the room. If you hide behind those during each of Kael's monologues, everything that can't see you will run into range to get closer. I found this helpful on my DK, and I'm sure it's very helpful on non-staff classes, because I wasn't getting launched into the air from Capernian's nova ability, which messed up essential DPS times when I wasn't affected by debuffs.

I ended up running Tempest Keep 38 times across these characters, the first one starting in April. It was quite disheartening really, as at the same time I was farming Karazhan and Onyxia for those mounts and 2 friends of mine beat me to both of them so you could imagine how antsy I was to get ashes and rub it in their faces hue hue. Over the course of my farming, including other mounts like the raven lord, the white sunstrider, various legendary pieces and etc, I've found that you will have a better time farming if you come to expect nothing to drop ever in at least the next few, if not more, months of farm time. When the whatever it is actually does drop, you'll feel an ecstatic rush of adrenaline and at the same time if nothing drops, you won't be disappointed since drop rates are incredibly low on most of the cool things. So sit back, relax, collect the large amount of money you get while farming from vending and pet drops, and remember, nothing comes easy, ever. Unless you're a prick that gets the drop on the first run.

Got this on my 10th run through the place yesterday. Suprised to say the least considering how long it took me to get some other mounts!

Did get his hawkstrider thing on the first go however in wherever that drops from. It was a long time ago...

Id never even been to TK before deciding to farm the Ashes, and found it quite a lot of fun. First time i ran through the whole lot just to experience it. Ive tried and failed to do all the advisors in the main room a couple of times although i did get them once. Usually i ran back to the instance entrance and took the first two guys in there, then the annoying woman in the ashes room, and the last guy back near Kaels main room. Used Army of the dead for his silly weapons, and took on the advisors as they appeared back where i was in that little passage way.

Kael'thas himself i never had a problem with as long as i stayed in the passageway near his room. He has reset on me once or twice if ive dropped my ghoul or something by mistake. Annoying!

I did this on my ilvl 505 DK. Failed on my paladin but hes just not well geared.

Loved all the dialogue - 'No one can stop me now!' 'Blood for blood!' and am sad that i dont have to go back here anymore. I got the Phoenix blade thing on an early run, so pointless to go back i guess...

It's been a long haul. I've read a lot of theories, a lot of miracle stories... I murdered Kael'thas 105 times. I watched the Karazhan mount drop 3 times before Kael gave me his mount! It's August 23th, 2013. I was my druid, and I was group leader. (If you believe in the hoax that it drops based on what class is group leader). Either way. I had my doubts, but don't give up! It will drop! And those of you who've killed him more times than I, don't lose hope!

Ashes and Onyxian drake seem most affected by account wide mounts and ilvl bloat. You can probably see a couple of them chilling in front of the AH at any given time now, if not more.

Invincible and Mimiron's Head seem to have maintained their prestige and rarity to a degree, at least for now.

Just a Quick Note: If you're on a high populated server I wouldn't recommend using this mount if you got other more unusual mounts since on the most populated servers, Ashes is just mainstream.

TK is easily soloable by the majority of classes at level 90. You can either head straight for the end boss or clear the side wings for a full clear. The first three bosses are straight (pet)tank and spank. The final boss (the one pertinent to this mount) offered a bit of a challenge.

The big thing for hunters is to dismiss your pet immediately after killing the resurrected advisers. If there are more than one players in the fight (which triggers off your pet) the non tank will be mind controlled. The led to me fruitlessly punching my pet until the boss despawned and reset. Once this phase passes, you can summon your pet for the final push. Was able to push him through the floaty phase to the big finish.

I wanted to post this because it seems unbelievable but is true. I don't suppose it reflects any change in drop rate but bears telling.

It's to report that Ashes dropped three times in the last week (over one reset) first to my son, then his best friend today and now me also today. All on our first kills of Sunstrider. All solo attempts. it's a fact that I felt should be recorded and in no way to gloat because I know the pain of the endless search on other similar quests.

I recently returned to the game along with my son. A week ago he went out to complete his Outland exploration achievement and decided on a whim to go into The Eye to also complete the raid one. We had once before tried to kill him without success back in Cataclysm so I was interested to listen to how it went.

I saw the achievement for the raid go up then a short period of silence on Skype, then and big OMG! in guild chat and he linked Ashes. We were both stunned as we were aware of the low drop rate and tales of endless kills.

The first reaction in guild was also one of shock and amazement as quite a few have been down the endless route with one guy on 500+ kills on all alts over some years. And to see the raid achievement go up, the then Ashes one confirming drop on first kill, well it was hard for my son to constrain his delight and pride but he did pretty well and everyone was gracious in congratulations.

He could not wait to tell his best friend who was as amazed and was spurred to try his own luck on his French realm today. And the exact same thing happened with Ashes dropping first time also.

For me it was almost inconceivable that they could both have it drop first kill at 2% rate in the space of a week. But as I have learnt, WoW is a game of RNG and had my fair share of heartache and frustrations over the years.

Having finished Timeless Isle dailies on a whim I thought why not have a go and took my druid (ilevel 505) to Outland to try my luck given the circumstance Never believing for a second that fate would repeat itself. And indeed it did not though a companion did drop from one of the other bosses so I was happy enough.

But decided to take my main Mage back there as he never did down Kael'thas Sunstrider in my time as RL in 25 man raids to TK. And then, what I can only describe as a surreal moment Ashes drop for me also on the same day.

I felt almost embarrassed linking Ashes to guild after the raid achievement went up having seen the reaction only a week earlier to my son doing the exact same thing. I truly felt for those guys who have hunted for it for literally years.

But one thing I have learnt from WoW is that RNG has a way in the end of working it's way around and now feel just privileged to be the proud owner of this iconic mount. I reflected back on the 500+ hours trying to get the Vial of the Sands recipe at launch of Cataclysm which burnt me out. Months camped in Storm Peaks in a fruitless hunt for the drake, etc..

I can't begin to compute the chance of Ashes dropping for three friends within a week, all on the first kill (for me the second character though still the first time he was down). And only rely this tale as one of those twists of fate that make the game what it is. Certainly memorable and wish everyone the very best of luck in your own personal quest.

I've been farming Ashes of Al'ar off and on for nearly 2 years and today, it finally dropped.

The farming process is cake. You can skip every boss in Tempest Keep and head straight to Kael'thas. Soloing Kael'thas is relatively easy for any level 90 aside from the 3rd phase. During the 3rd phase, you fight all four of his advisors simultaneously. The difficult part about this phase is dealing with the CC from Capernian and Telonichus. As a Ret Paladin, I simply bubble during the 3rd phase and nuke Capernian. The damage from the other 3 advisors, while annoying, is pretty manageable.

I'm not posting this to brag, rather to inspire. Every week, prior to entering Tempest Keep, I'd hit up Wowhead for a little bit of inspiration. I know how frustrated and hopeless you feel killing Kael'thas week after week only to loot tier pieces and verdant spheres.

My advice? Stay the course. Hope may seem dim, but trust me, your time will come.

Hey guys, Aintnograves here from Llane. I quit WOW for a bit and came back last month. I've don Kael less than 20 times since coming back and today it finally dropped for my priest Aintnograves. This is the number one thing I wanted in the game and so now my spirits have been restored in the game. I was shocked when my rarity addon said ashes of alar, still in shock. I've been playing since BC and have wanted it since then and farmed it when I could get help. It's pretty ironic I got it today because just last night I was telling my guildmates that I was wanting that mount more than anything. I also prayed last night and this morning for it, lol.

If anyone plays a class that can easily solo this fight, then this guide isn't for you, but classes like priest or possibly mage or any class that has difficulties soloing this fight, or anyone that isn't able to deal with the constant conflagration, stuns and fears, here is what I suggest:
1. Definitely level up to 90 if you have not done so
2. Clear out the trash in the first room (Al'ar boss room), but killing Al'ar is not necessary as you can avoid him.
3. Clear out the trash on the left- or right-side hallways before entering Kael'Thas' boss room.
4. After the trash is cleared out in the hallway of your choosing, walk close enough to Kael'Thas to trigger the boss fight, but quickly run out of the room on the respected side of which you cleared out the trash and make your way to the start of the instance, but don't go too close to the exit portal.
5. After Kael'Thas talks for a bit, the first sub-boss will make his way to you, just wait a little while for him to make his way, then kill him somewhat close to the entrance.
6. Try to kill the next sub-boss close to the last sub-boss near the entrance.
7. After the first two bosses have been killed, make your way to the Al'ar boss room and kill the caster sub-boss in there, a fair distance from Kael'Thas, as well as the other two sub-bosses.
8. Finally, make your way to Kael'Thas' boss room and you'll find you can't get in, that's no problem, just kill the engineer sub-boss just outside of Kael'Thas' boss room.
9. Now, you've spaced out the 4 sub-bosses a fair distant apart to hopefully be able to fight them one at a time, because after they all get revived, you'll kill the engineer first, and when he dies the caster should have made her way to you, and then the two melee sub-bosses will arrive soon after.
10. After the four sub-bosses are killed, the weapons will spawn and you should focus down the cosmic infuser as it is the (healer) of the weapons.
11. Now, Kael'Thas will make his way to you, and the biggest threat with him, is when he casts pyroblast, which if you can, pop defensive cooldowns & silence/interrupt him if possible. Don't worry about the phoenix he summons.
12. After you get him low enough, he will run back into the boss room, which you are unable to enter, but don't worry, he'll run back to you after he finishes his second phase nonsense. When he casts Gravity Lapse, you will be shot up into the air and will be able to "swim", make sure you swim about 20 yards away (approximately) or until you are no longer get a stacking debuff, after he finishes casting a set of Gravity Lapses, burst him as much as possible, then when he starts casting Gravity Lapse again, rinse and repeat until victory. Make sure that you don't swim all the way down to the ground while you have Gravity Lapse on you, as you will likely be shot up high and then fall after the buff goes away, which will cause lots of fall damage, make you are just a few feet up the ground and let the debuff come off and fall naturally.

Had this drop at long last after a year of farming, I had collected a substantial amount of rare mounts and this was one of the final two I needed. This happened to drop on the same day(Thanksgiving) as the Azure Drake, which was the other I needed, could barely believe it. The wait was worth the dramatic finish, anyways, stoked!

After farming this for a few years I finally got it today. Me and a friend used to 2man TK for it, but now we can solo and we both got one each within 7 days of eachother.
Someone said the droprate has not been increased, but I just feel this is just crazy after all this time we get it in same week.

Does anyone know if the drop rate has increased on this mount? I ran this raid with a buddy of mine and the mount dropped. We both rolled need. He won. I offered him 100k gold for the mount. He agreed. The very next week we ran it again and it dropped. I'm just trying to figure out if it was crazy RNG...or if I screwed myself out of 100k gold.

after running on 5 chars a week, it took me 5 months before i got mine to drop, which comes out to a total of roughly 100 kills. dont give up, it will sooner or later drop, now i am farming invincible and mimrion's head every week. ill keep this updated once i get either or.

I believe I have the worst luck so far on this mount I have been soloing it for the past year on 3 toons and have racked up 167 total kills just added DK to make it 4 toons and still no luck. Figured I might see it after the 52 kill or so since most guilds saw it once a year give or take but not me. The worst part is the flight out to Netherstorm so boring to fly there from shat so many times a week:(

To me this is the most badass mount in the game, i was lucky enough to get it on my first run, i soloed Kael and almost pooped my pants when it dropped. Keep at it guys, dont lose hope!

Finally got this after a few years of farming. Something to note is that if this item drops, the order of loot is different, with the tier tokens on top, instead of on page 2/3. Makes it easy to tell if you got your mount!

Just wanted to give you guys some hope. After a couple of years farming this mount it finally dropped for me. Date and time of drop 1/22/14 at 5:300PM Deathwing Realm server time. You don't have any difficulty settings to change so no worries about running Heroic or Normal. You don't Have to kill any other bosses in the instance, you can just go straight to Kael'thas and prepare for another week of disappointment or you moment of Euphoria. I also wan't to point out that I ran multiple toons each week and it dropped on a Hunter alt of mine on its 3rd time thru Tempest Keep, other toons have made over 70 attempts each. All in all between all of my toons I am sure I ran this instance around 200 times. Good Luck, Happy Looting and when you get the drop, save learning it until a swarm of guildies are online so they see when you pop the achieve... They tripped about as bad as I did.

Boss is easily soloable with SoO LFR gear. I used to help my cousin 2 man this boss back in Cata and did it like 30+ times. The other day I decided to run just for the fun of it with my rogue, killed Kaelthas and it dropped! I was so happy. Good luck to happy farmers :)

Well after 5? years of on and off clearing of Kael, this finally dropped.

Now the fun thing is, recently on one of my lowbie characters I acquired 20x Rabbit's Foot along with 1x in another stack.
Doing LFG I noticed random epics dropping for me (Circle of Flame from BRD and Grab of the Wind Serpent from ST).

Puzzled, I did Strat and lo and behold the mount dropped ( I didnt win it this time).

Even more puzzled then before I went on and sent the rabbit's feet to my main, with which I then proceeded to kill Kael and the ashes dropped.

Coincidence? Maybe? But all I know is that I'm sending these babbies on any char I plan to farm anything rare with.

I tried to just kill main boss but i was mc thole time until i died, so i recommend taht kill the other bosses first. ANd i have been killing that kaelthas over 200 tmes and no ashes, my hubby showed me how to do it with weaker toons and it dropped for him. So im convinced that blizzard hates me.

Things have changed...

I have been solo'ing The Eye for this mount for a very long time. I used to drag the advisors out all over the instance to spread them out and kill them individually. which made the whole fight much easier. BUT when I went in today and aggro'ed Kael, I then started to run out of his room so I could spread out his advisors like I usually do, BUT I saw that the doors in Kael's room now IMMEDIATELY lock when you aggro him.

I was still able to take him down with my weak gear (IL 487). I had been running in BM spec but switched to Survival.

I did it by killing all advisors and weapons, then when the advisors respawned, I took out the mage 1st and then Bloodhammer, followed by the Engineer, and dismissed my pet, then killed Thaladrad. Then I just did my best to give Kael everything I've got... Bandaged while he was powering up and nuked him down as best I could.

It's definitely tougher now for those of us who don't have the best of gear.

Please don't down rate. I am just trying to help some of the people with lower IL's so they know they can still get this guy down every week even though they changed things up recently.

Finally dropped for me after a few years of off and on farming. I do not know how many kills it took, really ramped up the farming efforts when mounts became account-bound and would kill him with several characters. Dropped on 2/26/2014 on the 5th character I was bringing in for the week.
I never farmed this alone although it is possible, I always ran it with my fiance. He also has a lot more level 90s than me, so we would bring my level 70 alts in while he killed things also. Just make sure that if you do this, you die before you fight Kael'Thas (you'll likely be killed without trying the second time you face the advisors. but you'll sometimes make a nice decoy while they spam fear/stun/disorient you instead). If he happens to mind control the lv. 90 player you will be killed and he will reset which is why you really have to die. Also, when I brought my hunter Kael'Thas mind controlled me and my fiance and left my pet alone and this reset the encounter also, so remember to get rid of your pets.

I've been dying for this mount for EVER. I have to jumble between Phosphorescent, TLPD, Vitreous, and etc drop mounts, and this included.

I'm a very bold and enthusiastic mount collector, who takes what she gets, but sweet jesus, having a "meh" dad, whom we share accounts, isn't very fun.

So when we found Ashes of Al'ar one day surfing Wowhead, I fell in love.
Literally.

I'd run up to him daily, and show him new mounts, whom he just shakes his head and says "Cool, but not worth it"

But Al'ar is one mount he actually wants, but is lazy.

I've asked him time and time again to run it with me, but "nahhh, too low %"
It pains me.

Be aware they have changed this instance , the fears and disorients are WAY , WAY more then they ever used to be , so be sure to bring your way to stop the fears or your going be feared to the point you die before they stop , also you have to take them all on in the main room now , no more running thru the instance and spreading them out and killing them off 1 at a time like before.

So like most people I've been soloing multiple instances for various bosses and have put together some statistical likelihood that I want to share with you all so that you can use this information as well to your own bidding.

So I'm farming these mounts on a day basis
藍色元龍韁繩 1.1% Chance to drop
烏鴉領主韁繩 1.6% Chance to drop
裝甲拉札希迅猛龍 1.0% Chance to drop
迅捷祖利安獵豹 0.96% Chance to drop
玻璃石龍韁繩 0.77% Chance to drop
北風之龍韁繩 0.8% Chance to drop

Now I want to look at the statistical likelyhood of NOT seeing any of the above drop, we use an inverted value for the above (1% turns to 99%, 1.5% to 98.5%). The calculation is as followed

0.989 x 0.984 x 0.99 x 0.9906 x 0.9923 x 0.992 = 93.94% Chance of none of the above mounts dropping. (6.06% chance of at least one mount dropping)

I improve this by running this 7 times a week = 0.9394^7 = 64.56% Chance of no mounts dropping
OR run this 21 times a week with 3 alts = 0.9394^21 = 26.91% Chance of no mounts (73.1% chance of at least 1 mount!)

Wednesday I also include 3 weekly mounts which include

歐爾灰燼 1.96% Chance to drop
熾炎戰馬韁繩 0.85% Chance to drop
奧妮克希亞飛龍韁繩 1.13% Chance to drop

This day the chance for nothing is (daily mounts) 0.9394 x 0.9804 x 0.9915 x 0.9887 =90.28% chance of nothing dropping - or 9.72% chance of one or more mounts dropping :)

I always came to this page when I feel disappointed on farming, just to get myself motivated. on the afternoon 19/3/2014 I looted Ashes of Al'ar on my 4th attempt this week, after 4-month of work, finally!

Before you start fighting Kael'thas, I washed my face and hand in order to get some fortunate. After striking Kael'thas down, I type "/s" with "give me the phnoix" in Chinese, guess what it dropped! LOL!

People seemed to grumble when the instance was changed and the doors locked. It sounds ridiculous to me that people would run the advisors all out to make it easier. All I've ever done is kill three where they stand with Kael, and kite Carpernian to the other end of the room. Means you can knock her out quickly in the third phase, and if she disorientates you, it'll clear by the time the others reach you. I learnt that by reading something here.

Anyway, I never thought I'd get Al'ar, so I never tried. 23 attempts across five characters - 9 with a 525 destro lock, 9 with a 520 BM hunter, both for whom it was child's play. After flicking through and reading how people had soloed Kael with Ele shams and Balance druids, I took mine in and did one run on the former, and two on the latter. It was a long haul with a 478 shammy, and I thought better than to try him again. A 482 Balance druid takes more damage than it deals, but he held his own without any worry. Oh, and through all this no sign of the ashes.

I'd recently got my Ret pala up to 90, and decided to give him a turn last week. At 475, I thought it was wishful thinking, but he survived, barely. I tried him again this week (still at 475. When you've got nine 90s, it's arduous to gear them all substantially), and he fared much better, and as if for a reward, the ashes dropped. Nine weeks since I'd started farming.

No, no one cares about my experience or how many times it took to get the ashes to drop. I'm merely reiterating, you'd be surprised how some mediocre-geared characters can take matters into their own hands.

i got this mount today and i when i see it my hands starts shaking and sweating :p
my friend told me that he had a greater chance to get mount drop on Saturdays
i didn't believe him at first but than i said to myself what do i have to lose lets try it
my first choice was 迅捷白色陸行鷹 and guess what! i got it !
i was in shock iv been running for this mount in years and i got it today 31 May 2014
so i immediately teleport to Shathrah City and fly to TK killed last boss and OMG

To those of you who wonder why you get down-voted for posting that you got the mount. Here's why.

1. It's not helpful or useful information - the forums are meant to contain helpful information- not announcements.
2. When you've been running the instance for years every week on multiple toons, with no drop, it's just annoying to see. Especially "WOOT! First time ever and I got it!"

With WoD revamping BC, does anyone know if this raid will become unavailable? I'm still trying to obtain the mount after 100's of runs and I'm worried my time is running out. In my opinion it's the most beautiful thing Blizz has ever created. If you've heard or read something, pls reply.

still in progress with various characters each week. id like to report ilvls and specs to give an idea for people who are thinking to solo him.

-WW monk ilvl 510 - easy fight. just dps everything down. when you face all of the advisors pop your xuen.

-feral druid ilvl 539 - among my characters druid is easiest to solo with.. forget about CDs just rake/mangle everything and finish the fight at %100 hp. complete faceroll

-combat rogue ilvl 490 - fairly easy fight. keep recuperate on at all times. nothing special to watch out.

-ele shaman ilvl 510 - there are things to watch out. ele shaman takes alot of damage. in order to survive you need to use healing stream totem when its needed without hesitation, if its not enough be prepared to pump some healing surge. to start off ill advise you to get the staff and benefit from its buff. your dps will be less but at least you wont be disoriented and feared. when you face all of the advisors pop your fire elemental totem, flame shock every advisor, run around and cast your lava burst as it procs, otherwise cast lightning bolt while running around the room, never stay in place. when you kill every advisor immediately switch to your main weapon and put your healing tide totem down if you are low on health. pop ascendance/heroism and burn kael to %50. after that point keep on goin witht the usual dps rotation and done. thats my way with ele shaman. im sure it will be alot easier when i have better gears but its not really hard at the moment.

- blood dk ilvl 442 - all the way to kael including killing his every advisor is easy (even at this low ilvl) - nothing special. but when you down kael below %50 he starts to cast Nether Vapor. i got my hp decreased by %90 because of those black clouds and he nearly killed me so watch out for those.

my common strategy for all of my characters: i pull & kill fist 2 advisors at the entrance of the room. killing the other two where they are standing. so when they are resurrected my kill order is engineer --> mage--> rest

I tried on my Rogue and discovered that I could stealth past everything and into Kael's room, and could simply kill only his room trash and Kael himself.

Question is: will Ashes still drop even if Alar is not killed?

Got mine today after 25 attempts. I didn't kill any of the other bosses, just room trash and Kael'Thas and his advisors.. So this is available without first killing Al'ar. Easy solo as a lock, just dismiss pets and create a demonic gate near the back of the room exiting near the front by Kael.... kill Thaladred and Sanguinar, then lead Capernian to the back of the room to kill, then go back up front for the Engineer. After you down the enchanted weapons go back to Capernian in the back, when she is ressurected down her, then gate to the front of the room turn around and take out Thaladred, then Sanguinar, then the Engineer, Kael is an easy kill.

Did they increase the drop rate on this or did I just get very, very lucky?

I soloed the raid with my main, didn't get Alar, (but got two battle pets), then decided it was easy enough at lvl 90 to solo with one my alts, Alar dropped on my second run at approximately 7:00PM on Borean Tundra. I was under the impression the drop rate was something less than 1 or 2%, so if they didn't increase the drop rate I better go buy a lottery ticket....

I have a few points to add that may help.

I kill all the trash on the way to Kael. I do not bother killing and of the other bosses.

Capernian can do a knock back, which is a pain. Rather than kite her away I typically kill her where she starts. If you move to the right of her you can face your back to the pillar, so the knock back is not a issue.

Next, Make sure you do not use anything that can be mind controlled. I had this reset on me a couple of times when Kael Mind Controlled me and starting killing one of my blood worms instead.

Finally, I got luckier than most and got this today on my 10th kill. Good luck all.

I went into tempest keep today and i didnt killed any of the other bosses just the last boss and guess what! Ashes of Al'ar drop for me :)

So it still drops

Only 8 runs, I see a lot of recent posts saying they got one, perhaps the drop rate has increased.

I never do the side bosses, always straight back to Kael' clearing trash as I go. good luck and keep trying it WILL drop =) (eventually)

Kael'thas is soloable, bring something that can break the CC. But is easiet as caster (take the staff. Remember to USE IT!)

Al'ar can be skipped to save time.

Drops off Kael'thas in Tempest Keep, The Eye (<1%).

Makes sense as Al'ar belongs to Kael'thas ("Pheonix God" makes a perfect pet for the "Sun King"), so it only goes to reason that he would have taken the ashes after Al'ar was killed.

The item, 'Ashes of Al'ar' is recored in Blizzard's loot table, so must be real:

The link i paste repeatedly causes an 'error' - nevertheless, the item is found in the Armoury under loot from Tempest Keep, 25-man raid.

Dropped for us tonight... High Caliber on Kel'Thuzad server @ hcguild.org for pic on front page.

Tested it against gladiator mounts and checked the mount buff icon, it IS 310% mount speed, and does drop off Kael Thas, not Al'ar. The streams are about 100 yards long and look amazing in normal and shadowform(shadowpriest won it). I personally prefer how it looks in shadowform, it's a dark orange and purple streams and is amazing.

As far as size comparison goes, it is about half as long and half the wingspan of a netherdrake, but it sure does stand out.

AFAIK this is the 5th drop worldwide, and I was there to see it drop, and surprisingly it wasn't ninjad.
