for what i can see from the text this could mean a KS of 7.2 seconds, thats enougth time to get 2 more hits in (one MH and one OH) and generate enougth energy for a Gouge at the end (imp gouge makes it 15 energy cost), also a shiv can go in the middle for an extra CP and dmg, quite nice improbement in PvP.

what i realy want to know a bout this is the effect it has on slice'n dice, since the increase of 20% bould mean 8% more haste which is really good added to the ligthing reflexes haste means a total of 58% haste making big axes/maces/sword shine!

Revealing Strike vs. Sinister Strike?
Well.
With Improved Sinister Strike at 3 points/max, that's a 39 Energy ability that does 100% Weapon Damage, and then slightly more with the bonus damage increased by 35%, awards 1 Combo Point.
Revealing Strike, 40 Energy, 125% weapon damage. Increases the damage of your next Finishing move on the target by 20%. Awards 1 Combo point.
If you were to take both talents, you'd use four Sinister Strikes, and then one Revealing Strike.
If you were to decide on just taking one, and just simply going off play style, you'd pick Revealing Strike so your end-moves are stronger, you'd pick Improved Sinister Strike to do damage quicker.

Side note:
We must also take in the factor of talent builds, Improved Sinister Strike needs 3 talents to max out, while Revealing Strike only needs 1. Obviously, together, that'd be 4.

Edit: Apparently there's a Glyph that increases the effect of Revealing Strike by another 10%. So add that in too.

About the whole SS vs RS thing.

Its not a matter of one or the other. Rather, use SS and then RS when you know you are going to use a finishing move very soon.

Your Restless Blades talent is only effective if you are earning and spending combo points. RS is a higher energy cost which means more time in between attacks which means fewer combo points.

I'd recommend 4 Sinister Strikes and throw a Revealing Strike somewhere in the mix.

I still have to play around using them both, but that's just my opinion for now.

very simple move to use to increase your dps but there are a few things that go without saying

number 1, its always worth using, 20% weapon damage to increase the damage of your next finisher by 20% (30% glyphed) is a great trade off

its a debuff, not a buff, so it can be lost when switching or target dying if you arent careful... it doesnt need to be the 5th point, you have a 15sec window so you can almost get away with it being anywhere before your finisher (it

dont use it with SnD (or Recup), just SS up to 5 or w/e when you are putting up your SnD... it does affect Kidney however, making it the longest stun at 7.8sec (glyphed RS)

if you are already at 5cp but don't have RS up, its probably still worth putting up, like if you redirected your CP to a target... 30% more evis/rupt damage seems to outweigh 1 point worth of either finisher (roughly 1/5 per cp, so still a 10% gain in damage overall)

I suggest using this after first SS, 'cos if you have Glyph of Sinister Strike you might ran ahead of yourself and get 5cp before you got to use RS.

when glyphed, revealing strike now increases the effectiveness of finishers by 45% giving you more time to make that sandwich.

As far as I can tell, it only applies to finishers that directly HIT the target, meaning it does NOT affect Recup or Slice and Dice. It does however affect Kidney Shot(+2secs on the stun), Evis(More dmg), and Rupture(Bigger dot dps). I find it to be very useful to 8sec KS stun big mobs that the group isn't taking down first, or dumping a big Rupture on for boss fights. It does affect expose armor but all it does is increase the duration, NOT the armor reduction. I use it at 4cp to improve any of these finishers, assuming SnS is already up. No reason to blow 40energy on RS if you're just going to use SnS(Or recup for that matter), because it DOES NOT affect those abilities.

I recommend only using this when at 4cps, otherwise you might waste a point with the random 1-2cp build up from SS. If you ever cap 5 instead of 4, then just don't use the strike, 40 energy on an extra cast isn't worth the 35% when it "could" have paid for a new SS on the next line up giving you a new 1-2 cp. If you use this before 4cp, then you might go over 5 with SS if it procs 2 at a bad time. ie 1cp, RS1cp, then 2, 2, without RS there it would have been 5cp instead of 6. If you use this any sooner than 4cp you gamble whether or not it'll be worth using, and if it you it at 5, then you're really moronic because it isn't worth it at all.

In summery this is a great ability. It really fits a hole with the Sinister Strike gamble, so instead of hitting things like 1, 2, 1, then 2 again and wasting 1cp, you can use RS to directly hit 5 points and get a bonus instead. Most of the time you will either hit 4 or 5 CP in 3 SS casts due to the glyph. This is helpful when at 4CP to avoid gamble wasting the bonus cp.

In all honesty, I am not a fan of Revealing Strike, I would have honestly preferred if Blizzard used the elements present in Colossus Smash here too, something along the lines of;

Requires Melee Weapon

An instant strike that causes 150%
weapon damage plus 325, and
allows your attacks to bypass 100%
of the target's armor for 6 sec.
Bypasses less armor on players.
Awards 1 combo point.

I say this primarily because of the erratic nature of the Glyph of Redirect, which often ends up generating one additional Combo Point which is unused, and that I miss Armor Penetration as a core stat. This ability, as it stands, feels exceptionally lackluster for an effectively mandatory activated talent, where as Colossus Smash, a non-talented ability, feels significantly more rewarding for the fact alone that allows larger numbers, and has a more important feel relative too it in regards to priority and rotation. An Armor Penetration style Revealing Strike would likely give a bit more empowering of a feeling to other Combat Rogue abilities, like Eviscerate and Killing Spree than a very flat and boring (and overall small) damage increase.

In 5.0.4 we're no longer going to be using this at 4 cps, because the glyph off ss is built into it, and it doesn't fall off when you eviscerate. Rogues are going to want to use this as early as possible in their rotation, and now instead of the only buff you have to track and refresh being SnD, you'll now be refreshing Revealing Strike whenever it's going to fall off as well.

If you take the tier 1 talent Shadow Focus, opening from stealth (yes, a reason to stealth in combat spec) with this will cause it to consume no energy.

I'd suggest your rotation is now going to look something like this -

(stealth) - Revealing Strike(no energy cost) - SnD - SS to 5 point Eviscerates - Refresh RvS if it's going to fall off by replacing a SS - Refresh SnD as usual.

Is it possible to add anticipation to an addon like Classtimer? Or NugRunning? Adding the spell id to the track list does not do it and I really can't figure out why. If anyone knows, would appreciate it if he can share his knowledge.

I wonder if someone could kindly post the effects revealing strike has on all finishing moves? Presumably Eviscerate receives a 35% damage increase, Kidney Shot and increased duration totaling 8 seconds. But what about all the other finishing moves, like Slice and Dice, Rupture, Crimson Tempest, and Deadly Throw. And Recuperate is not an offensive finisher, so is unaffected, right?
