These rats, though named 'Stormwind Rats', also spawn in several places throughout Elwynn Forest. In particular, they hang around the gnoll camps and areas of 'good scavenging', such as Hogger's Hill. However, they are most easily found in Stormwind City proper, and for Horde, it might be easiest to create a level 1 Alliance character and head to Stormwind to catch your rat, rather than trying to scramble around the smaller spawns or dare the castle's guards.

When clicked, these make the same 'kissy-squeaking' sound that all the rat-bodied make.

edit: Now that pets have lower hp when battling them, these rares' healths will show up as 127, 129, and 132 respectively. The other stats will remain the same.

A great place to grind through some rats is here. There are 4 spawn points here, and I've not been able to kill them all before they start to respawn.

A great place to farm these for a rare is Old Town in Stormwind. Seriously spawning faster than I am able to battle.

Horde - Don't even BOTHER. Make a human or an alt and go to the Stormwind docks, trust me.

These things spawn all over the place in Stormwind. They come in three colors: grey, white, and tan.

I'm on a low pop server, flew right into Stormwind and found a rat on a further outside edge, a few feet from the guard. Landed, didnt aggro the guard, initiated the battle and caught the rat. Uncommon Quality.

If you'e horde it can definitely be done in less time than making an alli alt!

A great little spot for Horde if you don't mind 1 spawn at a time is at 58, 25 inside Stormwind City. There are no guards and the Alliance doesn't go back there. The respawn time is pretty quick as well so it's not like you'll be waiting for hours to battle another rat.

I spent 2 hours in cathedral square where the spawning rate is perfect for levelling pets but it still took me that long before a rare popped up. Don't give up a rare will inally appear!

The rare Stormwind Rat in the good (speedy) breed seems to come out of the spawn node that will be right between the A and T in Cathedral Square on your map. There are two Rats right there. The southernmost one can spawn as a rare speed breed.

Unnoticed but to cats and ratcatchers, when Deathwing descended upon Stormwind all the rats beat a hasty retreat from the city. Only of late have they returned.
