Great little pole for starting out fishing with. However I usually only use this till level 10 fishing and buy the Strong Fishing pole for the added fishing skill. They are in limited quantity and sometimes you cannot find it. Just come back to the fishing supplier and it will be there eventually. I'm going to guess that after someone buys it another one doesn't appear for about 30 minutes to an hour so if you see it just buy!

If anything they sell on the auction house for a few gold which is great from a 9 silver purchase.

Some fishing poles in game since patch 1.11.1 with some helpful tips:

■ Fishing Pole can buy from any trader and is a reward from Red Snapper - Very Tasty! (Alliance only), generally its used for increase fishing skill on beginning.

■ Strong Fishing Pole can buy from specific vendors in world, them can sell only one item.

■ Staats' Fishing Pole reward from A Taste for Grouper in Darkshore (Alliance only).

■ Darkwood Fishing Pole fishing low drop in some low level areas.

■ Big Iron Fishing Pole low drop from Shellfish Trap.

■ Nat Pagle's Extreme Angler FC-5000 reward from Snapjaws, Lad! (Alliance side) and Snapjaws, Mon! (Horde side).

■ Seth's Graphite Fishing Pole reward from Rather Be Fishin' (Shattrath City).

■ Pandaren Fishing Pole you can get it if you are honored with The Anglers, require the Mists of Pandaria expansion.

■ Nat's Lucky Fishing Pole reward from Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme, Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme for people already completed this quest before the quest trainer for Artisan Fishing was removed in 3.1.0

■ Arcanite Fishing Pole reward from world event of Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza for to first player who catch Speckled Tastyfishx40 and give Riggle Bassbait, completing Grand Prize, its is the best pole in game with high fishing skill.

■ Jeweled Fishing Pole low drop from Bag of Shiny Things (Fishing Quest Daily in Stormwind and Orgrimmar), even a lvl 10 can obtain this item, and Bag of Fishing Treasures (Fishing Quest Daily in Dalaran) you must be lvl 70 and got the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Also if you catch the Blacktip Shark but you are not the first person who completed it, you gain the bag in Better Luck Next Time.

■ Bone Fishing Pole low drop from Bag of Shiny Things, same work with Jeweled Fishing Pole.

■ Dragon Fishing Pole you can get it if you are revered with The Anglers, require the Mists of Pandaria expansion.

■ Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole can buy from Sairuk (Dragonblight) or Tanaika (Howling Fjord), you must be Exalted with The Kalu'ak, its the best pole with cool model and unique breathing underwater in game, you must have the expansion Wrath of the Lich King if you want this item.

■Draenic Fishing Pole its a item sold by Nat Pagle from Garrison of Alliance in Shadowmoon Valley, you must unlock him in order to purchase it, counting with the lure it will increase 40 fishing skill, require the Warlords of Draenor expansion.

■Savage Fishing Pole Horde equivalent, but now it will sold in Frostfire Ridge on Garrison of Horde, require the Warlords of Draenor expansion.

■[Ephemeral Fishing Pole has the high fishing skill on the game, however its temporarily in "online time" doenst depend of "character time played", fished from the waters of draenor, even a level low can adquire this item, require the Warlords of Draenor expansion.

Some itens removed or in database of game but you cant ever got:
■ Crafty's Pole this item appear in database of Lich King expansion, probably in patch 3.2 or 3.3, cannot be obtained in live realms.

■ Blump Family Fishing Pole is no longer available in game because the Gubber Blump disappear on events of cataclysm, so Staats' Fishing Pole and the Johnathan Staats replaced them.

Since the arrival of patch 5.0.4, there's been a change to fishing. You no longer need to equip a fishing pole to use the Fishing skill.

For all of your roleplay needs, I compiled a list of occupational tools for everyday heroes. Look at a weapon's "Item Versions" or "Same model as" tab for ones easier to obtain, a different color or weapon type, or a Transmoggable version. Higher levels can obtain Appearances for lower-level alts. If you want a quest Appearance from the opposite faction but do not have a character, use a Class Trial. Let me know if I missed a weapon! Good for bartenders, cooks, fishermen, farmers, gardeners, lumberjacks, miners, blacksmiths, alchemists, carnies, mechanics, and angry protesters.

I was fairly shocked to fish up a Fishing Pole from the river dividing Spires of Arak from Shadowmoon Valley right on the tail end of completing all the objectives for getting a level 3 garrison fishing shack. I came here to find that, yep, it's a thing!

This item is more useful than you might think.

You can now fish without a fishing pole, but if you are just starting fishing, you will fish up junk until your fishing skill is sufficient to fish up fish; varies by location and this does not apply to fishing pools. If you want fish, not junk, say, for leveling cooking, a pole allows you to equip a lure, and lures grant a large bonus to fishing skill. (but take note, at least initially, junk has a higher vend value than fish)

If you are routinely hurting for bag space, this item is cheap enough to toss and easily replace.

There are a few quests that require you to hurt but not kill a mob, then generally apply some item to it. If you are having trouble not killing the mobs, try it with this pole equipped as your weapon.
