Aparently there is no way to get "baleful" shield with this.

Very disapointing since only option now is to get some other shield for tanking/healing... well same goes for offhands.

I had changed my UH DK to Frost DW and equipped 2*1H before purchasing Baleful Armament hoping that Blizz controls our builds and give a proper item. It didnt happen so and I got a 2H. I opened a ticket to GM asking if it is intended or a bug ?
Pls find below the answer of GM :
" I have had a look into your ticket regarding the weapons from the Baleful Armament.

I know it is frustrating to get a weapon that is not the best for your current selection. Unfortunately though it is not a bug that you can get a 2 Handed weapon while a Dual Wield Frost Death Knight as the loot system does not look at which weapons you favor.

If you loot specialization is set to Frost then you can still get both 1 Handed Weapons or 2 Handed Weapons as both can be used and this is shown on the loot tables as well with both drops being possible from bosses for example.
The same applies to items created from the Armaments, so items created are random and can be 2 handed or 1 handed depending on your luck.

Once an item is created it cannot be swapped I'm afraid and you can only keep it now hoping for better luck with the next drop.

I'm sorry that I could not be of more help here and I wish you good luck in your adventures now."

As a combat spec rogue I've gotten a dagger twice now. I've heard Assassination rogues getting non-daggers as well. Its stupid. Why even look at the spec if its going to give you a weapon just based on if you can equip it

4 out of 4 have proc'd an affix with versatility on my BM hunter. None have had mastery. Purchased all 4 due to none dropping for me. RNG hates me...

As a shadowpriest I found that choosing disc loot spec gave me the crit gear that I wanted for Auspicious Spirits spec. For shadow spec it gave me haste gear (which is good for CoP spec). For classes with all dps specs I would say choose various loot specializations if you aren't getting the stats that you want. For classes with multiple roles it may not work as well but I found playing around with loot spec gave me what I wanted on my mage and hunter.

Acording to a GM I talked with, 2-handed for DK Frost is as intended. As intended! I told him that if I turned up in a raid as a Frost DK with a 2-hander I would be kicked before I could say "idiotic".

I was hoping to confirm that warlocks would get a staff before I farm Apexis Crystals to get this, but I don't see any comments indicating one way or the other. From the "Creates" tab it looks like a staff is the only possibility (since we can't wield the caster mace), unless that list is incomplete. Has anyone seen different results?

why no fist weapons at all? I brought an alt monk forward to Tanaan specifically to get some fist weapons and the Blackfang Claw for him as it works very well with his mog. Why does Blizz seem to want to steer classes toward a specific weapon type among the possible choices they can equip instead of giving us an equal shot across all possible weapons?

Leveled up my monk to 100, saw the beautiful Fist Weapon transmog we can get in-game, but this 'thing' won't create such weapon. Other one-handed (apart from Daggers, which are available) can be mogged between types.

Why so restrictive Blizz? Gonna leave my Molten Fists and Phoenix Talon on my monk and rogue's void storage.

So is it safe to assume that I would be better of just using an Empowered Staff if Im trying to gear for normal mode as an Ele Shaman since you can't get a baleful shield?

So I did look at the "creates" section, but just to confirm, the only warlock weapon this thing will drop is 2h, correct? No chance at making either a spell power dagger, or sword?

The baleful gear is a difficult decision. The drop rate is very decent and you can easily get a full set of gear with them. If not, 5,000 Apexis crystals will buy what you are missing. It is the specs that is an issue. Using Noxxic for the best stats on PVE gear for your specialization is a good rule of thumb to decide which piece of gear to keep and which to sell off. It also makes sense to empower only your best speced gear first. So find out which specs are your best fit, weigh the specs that you receive, and decide to keep, buy another, or empower what you have.
It is TOUGH to get your two best stats so my attitude is that if the specs are in your top three, good enough!

6.2.3 patch notes:

Baleful items now have a chance to create items ranging in quality from item level 655 to 695 in 5-item-level increments, with a progressively lower chance as item level increases.

Baleful items can now proc directly to empowered 695 item level items. If your item has not done that, it can be upgraded to 695 by using Empowered Apexis Fragment. 10 more item levels can be added by spending valor points.
Edited to avoid any confusion.

When I opened my Baleful Armament I got a Warforged Item (level 660). Then I used the Empowered Apexis Fragment which upgraded it to an Empowered Baleful (695) item - the Warforged stat bonus was overwritten.

Does anyone know if the various stat combinations ("Peerless", "Aurora", "Merciless", etc.) all have an equal chance of showing up, or if there is some weighting going on? I seem to keep getting the same ones over and over, and not the ones I want.

My Frost DK can not get anything but 2 handed weapons - is driving me nuts. Have loot spec set to Frost and still just got 6 two handers in a row - so frustrating considering that very soon - spells require dual wield - frustrating to say the least

Just to confirm from the beta: you can use this item as a demon hunter. For me, it gave me the agility 1H axe (Baleful Greataxe). So if you're hoping to upgrade the 685 warglaives to some 705 (with valor) weapons once your demon hunter breaks out of their starting zone, go for it! There's also a blacksmith-crafted dagger with agility that's usable for demon hunters.
