One of the old heirlooms, which are being reintroduced with 6.1. It is sold by Estelle Gendry (H) and Krom Stoutarm (A) for 500g.

Both vendors sell all of the old Justice Point and heirlooms, including the new necklaces and upgrading tokens:
- Chests: 500g
- Shoulders: 500g
- Necklaces: 700g
- Trinkets: 700g
- One-Handed weapons: 650g
- Ranged & Two-Handed weapons: 750g
- Shields & Off-Hands: 500g
- Ancient Heirloom Armor Casing: 1,000g
- Ancient Heirloom Scabbard: 1,200g
- Timeworn Heirloom Armor Casing: 2,000g
- Timeworn Heirloom Scabbard: 5,000g

Edit: The heirloom prices are no longer affected by faction reputation!

This item is part of the new system blizzard is implementing in Wrath of the Lich King. This items are bought with tokens like Badges of Justice, the Emblems of Heroism, and Stone Keeper’s Shards, which are attained by killing any dungeon boss in Northrend while your faction controls Wintergrasp.
. They bind on account and are interchangeable between any character of that account but not to anyone else's. This item's stats are the level 80 ones, since this special Heirlooms (the new item rarity created specifically to this purpose) scale with your level (Each time you gain levels it's stats increase). The enchants you can apply on them are the level 1 ILevel ones. Their incredible itemization will make your leveling easier and will most likely last to 80 since they are better than the average greens you get to that level.

If a special situatin on the kind of armor it displays happens (example: Warriors wear mail 1-39 plate 40-80), the item "transforms" into the new armor proficiency when you reach the required level.

In adiction, the shoulderparts will increase the experience you gain by 10%. It may sound like "meh. 100 exp becomes 110, big deal", but actually those 10%+exp will make the difference on you leveling's speed.

Spoiled Alts will enjoy this immensely. good one Blizz!

Edit, answering to Ixarus: No, it wont stay Mail, Plate wearers get their items changed as soon as they get Plate armor proficency - or else you wouldnt even be able to see Plate heirlooms, which you ARE able to.

The actual (24-10-2008) available slot items are Shoulders (for all prficiencies and specs but tanks), Trinkets (for melee, caster, and Medallions) and Weapons/Ranged (For some reason, no Wands... This may change when Wrath comes. I sincerly hope so... 3 out of 10 classes use it, i dont see why it shouldnt be taken into account...)

Edit (05.06.2009) - Seems like blizzard changed the way +EXP bonus works. It now ALSO WORKS WITH QUESTS! This will definatly mean some serious ease in levelling. 10% less experience in those late 70s means abov 100000 experience saved, no matter how you grind! Yumm!

An item with resilience that scales with your level... can someone say "twink item"? It might not be The Best Blue Ever for its level, but it will still be a level 19/29/39/49 item, which alone will make it better than most other gear available. Add in that it's specifically designed for PvP, and you have a winner.

I would love it if somebody could post on how these shoulders scale and work for a priest (which will be either shadow or discipline for the purpose of leveling). I'm quite fond of that +10% XP.

It lacks spirit, which its emblem of heroism version has, though myself, saving for items for my main character, well..

Of course, it looks like primarily a PvP item and that doesn't worry me as stamina isn't a bad idea.

Regardless, I'm still considering just waiting until I can afford the ones with spirit on them. Any advice?

Items do NOT become soulbound when enchanted as a general rule. Only certain enchants bind the items, such as Aldor/Scryer inscriptions, faction head chants, and personal ring enchants (exclusive to enchanters for a reason -- it's their unique gear bonus).

...otherwise, people would be able to put an ensane enchant on a weapon, and transfer it to their level 1 characters, which would severely unbalance the game.

Many level 19, 29, and 39 characters have BoE items with enchants mailed to them, for example Lilanni has a head enchant which a level 39 CANNOT obtain except through this method (the soulbound item used in the enchant does not cause the BoE helm to bind in this case).

The only shoulder chants that ever worked this way were the old Naxxramas drops. Only a very, very small handful of people used these for twinking and are still around. A twink with a shoulder enchant is likely to be around 3 years old.

This "imbalance" is a reward to players who have the resources to do this. Contrary to popular opinion, twinking isn't easy. It makes you tougher than other characters your level, but only because you've spent the time, effort and gold with a higher level. It's reward for time spent just like any other advancement you can get; it's just a way to transfer those rewards between characters.

Heirloom items prove that Blizzard does not oppose twinking. There are quite literally NO blue shoulders topped out for 19, 29, 39, etc.

It is considered a lvl1 item, I could not apply the Aldor/Scryer enchant on it at lvl72, unfortunately.

This is actually a really good item if you don't think you're going to buy many heirlooms. It works on all classes, and every class uses crit/stam/resil, so you're only wasting the spell power on a couple of classes.

If you plan to only buy one or two heirlooms to pass between your alts for the experience boost, this is probably the one you want.

Since spell and melee critical has been merged, this is the most usefull "heirloom" item in the game the way I see it.

All your alts can use it (since it's cloth) and have +10% XP... and even some nice bonuses, even the melee ones.

You can as of patch 3.08 (27 feb, 2009) - enchant these shoulders with the Greater Inscription of the Gladiato - as the only working shoulder enchant. Bound to be hotfixed.

It should also be noted that it seems all of these shoulders add 10% XP before rested AND RAF are calculated.

For normal, non-rested, it's 1.1 times XP while wearing these.
For rested XP, it's 2.2 times XP while wearing these.
For RAF, it's 3.3 times XP while wearing these.

Confirmed in ZF last night.

As of 3.1 Patch notes the spell dmg Items will recieve a buff.

Heirloom Items: The bonus spell power granted by these items has been redesigned to provide substantially more benefit for players lower than level 58.

Now that patch 3.1 has hit, Greater Inscription of the Gladiator now requires level 70 in order to receive the benefit of this enchantment.

As of patch 3.1, these shoulders now give a 10% exp bonus from both killing mobs AND quest reward exp.

Pre-patch 3.1, they only gave the bonus for killing mobs.

You can use any shoulder-enchant on BoA-shoulders now since the change in the 3.1 patch.
But you need to fit the required lvl to gain the benefit, for example last night i enchanted my Polished Spaulders of Valor with the Scryer shoulder-enchant and it got on just fine,
but i needed to be lvl70 to gain the extra attackpower and crit.

If my memory isn't deceiving me, I remember heirloom shoulder armor only granted +10% XP from killing mobs. (correct me if I'm wrong)

Now that it also increases your XP from quest also (similar mechanic as in recruit-a-friend XP boost), heirloom shoulder item is a MUST for any 80 lving a toon..

No wonder I seem to notice a huge easiness in lvling. (My lock graduated Hellfire Peninsula at mid lvl 65. Even though there was rested XP involved, this is a major upgrade. My main paladin, who went through Instances a lot, graduated Hellfire at about lvl 64)

Actually, I was able to put Inscription of the Oracle on this item on my priest. I mailed the shoulders to my level 10 Warlock; the enchant did not disappear, it turned red and text below it appeared to say, "Enchantment requires Level 64"

My priest is also a scribe, and I was unable to put the inscription enchants on it though.

Edit: Not sure why you would downrate information that is correct that is not in any of the other comments, you CAN put this Scyrer enchant on the shoulders, contrary to what else is said in the comments.

Just spent 440g on getting exalted with scryers just too find out you cannot use them on the heirloom shoulders.
"Target is too low level."

So that sucked a bit.

Edit: Hmm seems to be bugged.. I bought all of the enchants and tried, and none of them (except for inscription of oracle) works. Tho the oracle inscription does work. You only need honored to buy that one, so i guess i still threw 400g in the dustbin anyway :p

Edit 2: The enchant doesnt work until you reach lvl 64. That makes It pretty much worthless.

czokalapik is only pointing out that the experience bonuses follow the Commutative law of multiplication, where it does not matter what order the numbers are in, the result will be the same.

For example 2 X 3 = 3 X 2.

In the same way, it does not matter what order the experience bonuses are applied. They will result in the same overall experience gained.

Let's say you kill a mob that gives 200 XP. If the rested bonus was applied to an experience gain before the BoA bonus, you would get

200 + 100% or 200 * 2 =400 XP

to which you would then add 10%:

400 + 10% or 400 * 1.1 = 440 XP.

If the BoA bonus is apllied first, you would get

200 + 10% or 200 * 1.1 = 220 XP

Adding the rested bonus would result in:

220 + 100% or 220 * 2 = 440XP

While you are getting bonus experience from a Refer-A-Friend, your Rested experience is not used, so if you are receiving bonus experience from RaF and BoA bonuses, the equation would be:

Base Exp * 1.1 * 3

which is the same as

Base Exp * 3 * 1.1

Even if both RaF and Rested were applied at the same time, the order of the bonuses would not affect the outcome. I'm sorry. It might be a lenghtly explanation, but people didn't appear to be grasping what czokalapik was saying. If you think the order will change the ultimate outcome of the experience earned, grab a calculator and try it :D

If you have shoulder enchant questions, I found the above comments all over the place and hard to follow, so here's a table for you min/maxers who are leveling pvp in style:

1-49 No shoulder enchants (that's right there is nothing, zippo)
50-54 Chromatic Mantle of the Dawn (requires Exalted Argent Dawn rep, pretty weak but better than nothing)
55-69 Zandalar Signet of Mojo (requires Exalted Zandalar Tribe rep, yes it's better than BC stuff)
70+ Greater Inscription of the Gladiator (lasts until 80 and you get real gear)

I was able to purchase all of the Level 50 Argent Dawn shoulder enchants except for this one, from both Argent Dawn quartermasters, at Patch 4.3.3. Furthermore I was able to apply it to BOA shoulders and mail them to an alt. The alt has neutral rep with Argent Dawn and the enchant was active at level 50.

I do however acknowledge reports on Wowhead that this is not true for all players, I believe it depends when you acquired Argent Dawn rep and which quests you had completed.

Heirlooms CAN be sent cross faction, you may not attach any extra, non heirloom items, or gold however, you may only send the Heirloom item(s) and a message if you want. If you try to just send a letter without an heirloom, it will not allow it, if you try to send more that the heirloom, it will not allow it. (Acctually you 'may' be able to send gold, althogh i very highly doubt it, i just never tried). Hope this helped some of you who were wondering.

This is the upgraded version of Exquisite Sunderseer Mantle.
Upgrading to the level 85 version will cost one Exquisite Sunderseer Mantle and an additional (yet to be determined) amount of Honor Points.
As of today, there is no set release date.

"So far PvE heirlooms only had upgradable options from vendors--PvP heirloom vendors did not have any new options. We have datamined some upgraded PvP heirlooms that may appear in a future PTR build."

As I see it these will be pretty much pointless to get, not only the weapons but all the items. They'll be useful at 81 just like the other level 85 capped heirlooms, then you can just buy the 82-83 mop greens that are vastly superior and will have you tearing through quests like mad to 85. I'd say just take the time you'd take on farming the JP and/or Honor for the desired looms and use that to farm on a main for more than enough money to buy the mop greens and you'll be much better set and get much faster experience gain through brute force of overwhelming next-expansion stats.
