Icecrown should be the place were the raid on Arthas the lich king begins..

I dont believe that. The Deathknights we will play are against the scourge. The only reason Arthas being there is to kill the dk`s and that does not make sence tbh. Ofc its possible to be some kind of image which treathens them.
Comment by

When you first create your DK you are part of the Scourge. Arthas himself guides you into becoming a death knight as blizzard alrdy said. He leaves when his attack on light's hope chapel failed. Morgraine's corrupted ashbringer is handed over to what i believe was commander eligor dawnbringer (i could be wrong) when Arthas is about to lay waste to the chapel. It is at that moment that the sword is turned pure and Dawnblade is able to make Arthas retreat. Morgraine then makes an Alliance to join forces to stop Arthas once and for all.

Icecrown will be like Shadowmoon Valley .
In Shadowmoon Valley is Black Temple.Last boss is Illidan Stormrage.
In Icecrown will be Arthas's instance where Arthas will be last boss.
Here in warcraft 3 Arthas defeated Illidan.

Well it would be interesting if Arthas dont be last boss in WoTLK. Like illidan is not in TBC. Who would it be then, who can be that powerful i just hope not some new char but someone from lore. Like sargeras for example. It would be interesting to see his new body :D
Comment by

They won't do Sargeras since then the whole Burning Legion would we defeated.
And Illidan wasn't the end boss of TBC because Blizz thought it didn't felt like you realy beaten the last boss, so they let Arthas be a very special boss.
Comment by

He does die on Mount Hyjal again and he was already dead in the present. The problem with Archimonde is that Blizzard screwed up CoT: MH, Archimonde is far too small, while in WCIII he 'hugged' the whole tree, in-game he can't even hug a single branch. The Night Elves could't live near Mount Hyjal anymore and needed to raise Teldrassil because the roots where burned by the Wisp attack, so when the raid has 'killed' Archimonde a cut-scene should have shown the Wisp Attack (a bit like Illidan didn't got the killing blow from the raid).
And we COULD kill Sargeras in the CoT, but Sargeras is probably still alive (even while he was killed a few times :P) so we can't killc the Sargeras in the present, but we can help killing him in the past (in CoT).
But we won't in WotLK since it has nothing to do with Northrend, the Scourge and the Lich King.
And before you say things like 'In TBC we also got Raids which didn't have anything to do with Illidan, yes but first most DID have to do with the Burning Legion and second TBC wasn't perfect, Blizzard admits that and Blizzard won't let WotLK be a full copy of TBC. They wan't more interaction with Arthas, he will appear in some quests and won't only be at Icecrown, so the CoT instance is about Arthas and if they add more CoT it will again be with or against Arhtas and not suddenly Sargeras since that's not where WotLK is all about.

He was never killed. They suspect it was just an avatar of Sargeras that was destroyed.
Comment by
Nummytaterz
Interesting enough according additional lore, it is said that Aegwynn may not have fought Sargera's original body, but rather only fought an avatar of Sargeras. It is said that this avatar was infused with a portion of Sargeras' soul which he controlled. Medivh was born with this fragment of his soul, and it later escaped back to the Twisting Nether. Brann Bronzebeard is pretty confident that the real Sargeras never actually set foot on Azeroth, implying the real Sargeras is still around in the Twisting Nether.Brann also believes, along with others, that the portion of the spirit that escaped still endures, hungering for revenge.
The implications of this is that Sargeras now exists as three separate entities, the real Sargeras, the avatar of Sargeras, and the portion of his spirit that was dispersed to the Twisting Nether.
That Sums it up for you buddy :D

The first expansion was named "The Burning Crusade", that Crusade being the attempt of the Burning Legion in destroying all life in the universe. It was kind of logcally that the last boss of the expansion is a Lord of the Burning Legion.
That expansion is "Warth of the Lich King", meaning that, while Blizzard placed his name in the title, the Lich King will most probably be the most powerfull boss we shall see in that expansion.
I also think that Blizzard wants to reserve Arthas a special place in their Universe, being their "special" villian, his influence being spread in both Azeroth and Outland.
Hell, it's about time :D

well, lets hope Arthas won't be as big as Illidan was, he is a night elf and should be as big as one, maybe a bit bigger because he's a demon, but not as big as 3 taurens xD.
so, Arthas is a human and should be as big as a human. wouldn't it be nice to fight one so much stronger being that is as tall as u?
Comment by
Dialunande
I think he's mixing up people. Assuming she survived, the only one in the Maelstrom in Azeroth would be Azshara. I'm honestly too tired to go into detailed things (nor remember lore straight =) ).
Alleria went missing with Turalyon, which was covered in a chain (or was it conversation?) in Burning Crusade.

I forgot my sources for this, but it was pretty much confirmed that the Lich King will be added in the final content patch for the expansion. So unlike Kil'jaeden wrapping up TBC despite Illlidan being the poster-boy (poster night-elf?) for TBC, Arthas will actually be the conclusion.

Overall this appears like an abnormal zone. Unlike other zones in Northrend you can easily tell where Horde and Alliance settlements are. Orgrim's Hammer and the Alliance version The Skybreaker
might
be connected to a flight hub, house an Innkeeper and obviously might become a major questing area. Right now it's just to early to tell. This zone also mirrors Shadowmoon Valley accurately in every detail. You have the war-ridden battlefields. You got the intimidating architecture and lastly each zone is held by malevont leaders bent on destroying life once and for all.

Just to correct you, Naecken. Arthas WAS a tool indeed, though he merged with the Lich King when he got to the Icecrown Glacier, defeated Illidan's forces (which included Vashj and Kael, though i don't think they were killed) went to the top of the stairs, crushed his icy prison and wore his helm. After all that was done, the dome around the throne collapsed. And as stated before, Sargeras has nothing to do with Northrend or the Lich King (aka Arthas). If Sargeras was to appear in WoW it would just be ridiculous! He would be so strong that it would be needed about 100 people to kill him (and i'm guessing every single one of them had to have highest tier gear), and it would be extremely difficult to just get the group! And knowing he is/was the strongest beeing in the universe(may actually not be as Aegwyn defeated him or his "avatar"), it would probably take more... And he is probably killed and it would (if he's killed) be in CoT (also stated before), and if it were to be an encounter in CoT, it would be when Aegwyn fought his "avatar" (as stated before Aegwyn may have fought the avatar of Sargeras) or him (his real self). And i don't think that the Black Dragonflight would have any effect on Aegwyn, as she was able to defeat Sargeras (or his avatar). And (also stated before) if he was to be defeated the whole burning legion would fall apart (as his spirit is still in the twisting nether, the burning legion still holds). Which would mean that almost every TBC encounter, and every demon would be erased from the game, including warlocks as their dark magic is based on demons and such, which Blizzard would never do, so it is pretty clear that he will not be fought outside CoT.
And just to add one thing: Illidan was defeated in WC III expansion: the Frozen Throne, so I'm not sure how he would have a place in Outland, or in WoW generally (except than CoT). And as he failed to destroy the Frozen Throne, Kil'jaeden swore to kill Illidan (Kil'jaeden stated this in the expansion in the campaign), so he would not be alive even if he survived his encounter with Arthas when he attempted to go inside and destroy the Icecrown Glacier and the Frozen Throne, along with the Lich King.
I have almost everything i have written from
Sargeras - WoWWiki
I have also played the whole campaign of WC III: RoC and WC III: tFT (plus bonus campaign, as well as custom campaign) I hope all this "information" was useful to you all :D Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong on anything stated above !

The Black Temple was also opened with a patch after the official release of TBC, so I doubt that this fact actually changes that Arthas will be the last boss.
I don't say Arthas wont be the last boss, because I'm quite sure he will, all i'm saying is that this is not an argument for that.

Several recent beta patches have added a large amount of quests to the zone. While the zone is still lacking in Alliance/Horde quests (as of build 8970), there are a large amount of Argent Crusade and Knights of the Ebon Blade quests.
This zone also makes extensive use of phasing technology. In fact, the Alliance/Horde bases do not have flight points, due to their lack of a static position. Instead, the main flight point is a neutral one at the Shadow Vault, which is originally a Scourge base converted to a Knights of the Ebon Blade outpost through questing.
You will be sent there by a Death Knight on your faction's Zeppelin. After locating a freed Death Knight posing as an agent of the Scourge, you free three members of the Scourge there and defeat the Death Knight commander of the area. You are then sent back to your zeppelin, and when you return, the area has become a quest hub for the nearby Vrykul city of Jotenheim, with a Flight Point.
As you rescue captured agents of the Ebon Blade in Jotunheim, they appear in the Shadow Vault to give you quests.

Since we are talking about final bosses how about bringing Deathwing into the story? I read that after he ran away no one knew where he was. So they could put that battle into CoT and make up some crazy way of him coming back.
Also it would be cool to ride on the backs of gryphons like the dwarfs did the The Day of the Dragon book.

the reason our nice little(colossal) battle cruisers are not on the map is because as the event to unlock icecrown unfolds, our beloved battlecruisers move into superior posistions, ending with the main cannons and weaponry aimed at Icecrown Citadel itself (one of the ways you can tell that Icecrown is open)the thing i like about these towns is that the move to the current area, making it seem more like a mobile fortress of terror then a boat shaped building suspended in the air. i hope that when it gets to the final leg of opening Icecrown, the battle cruisers begin firing at the citadel
Icecrown itself will not open except for onslaught harbor until the final content patch when the first obelisk deactivates when Arthas is weakened by the new plague
i predict that as the game goes on, the first obelisk starts with powerful mobs, and as the other 3 are conquered, the mobs under that sub-region weaken untill the first obelisk has the weakest mobs, and the second gate of Icecrown having the highest level enemies, each obelisk having successively more powerful enemies

There are many different antagonists. Arthas is just the leader of the Scourge. If Sargeras is still alive, he is most likely the next target.
And if that's not the case, I'm sure "Revenge of Hogger" is under development.

True, however if he was able to predict events, then how come he wasn't able to destroy the Alliance and Horde with the whole zombie invasion? Also, if he could forsee events, what if he saw what would happen if he was succesful in his attempt to destroy all life and so he decided that he must give the factions a chance to defeat him? Even so, I do believe in your sentences =D.

Well is it just me or is blizzard kind of running low on 'historical Enemys'. Arthas will mos likely be killed at icecrown. Kil'jaeden is down. Archimonde was defeated long ago(literly). And Nefarion and Onyxia are also dead. Illidan lies dead too. Lady vashj, Kael'thas(WHO ACTULLAY GOT DOWNED TWICE!). As far as i can see Sargeras(even though his stuck between azeroth and the twisting nether) is the only one left.
Okay comment failed, i forgot about all the bad guys really. But i honestly don't think that we will get to fight Sargeras, he is stuck between Azeroth and... Wherever he usually is before he enters a world to burn it... And he is probaly way to powerful for us to defeat. Kil'jaeden, Archimonde, Azshara... Those were all his underlings. And they aren't exactly weak.

If you go take the WoW quiz on it wich is fairly simple if you've played for some time. After the quiz you should see a picture of the great designers of blizzard :) . after the picture has shown for a few moments a video will show up. its of the alliance and horde trying to take down Arthas for his crimes. Along the video they are joined by the Forsaken ( Undead Race ) to kill both the Lich king and the Living. great video :)

Addressing the comment above on "historical enemies":
Nefarian and Onyxia weren't really historical enemies. By that I take it you mean those set up in the lore to be villians before WoW. This fits the demons, Illidan, Kael'Thas, Vashj, etc. but not those two. They're only in the lore through daddy :P
And I think in terms of possible future expansions, you guys are forgetting the Emerald Dream. In both Vanilla and BC, there were allusions to trouble in the Dream, and I've seen a few in Wrath as well. They already have portals set up to it and some concept of what's in there (Anzu, for example). This is in addition to the other major one I've heard, which is the Maelstrom, with Azshara and the Naga (as well as perhaps Undermine, the Goblin capital)...this would also allow the inclusion of Kul'Tiras, which would be interesting.

If you find yourself in combat in the southeast region of this zone and don't know why (ie: in combat, can't eat/drink, but nothing is after you or targeted you) it's likely the shadow adepts. these guys:
http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=31145
there is either a bug or this is by blizzard's design: You can aggro them without actually causing them to come after you. Yet, you will find yourself mysteriously in combat.
If you're in Ice Crown (specifically in the broken front on the southeast) and you find yourself unable to eat or drink, yet nothing is after you... Look for the nearest Shadow Adept and kill it. Worked every time for me.

And by the way the thing that imitates the movie the most is the eye on top of the shadow vault, overlooking icecrown in service of the Lich King? makes me go hmmm ^^

I see many people saying: If Arthas is killed, what else remains. And most people reply with "Sargeras", although you must not forget about Neltarion (Deathwing the Destroyer, Father of Nefarion, Lord Victor Nifarius). Deathwing is one of the major characters, he has alot to worry about, both to the Old Gods and the order of the world. I dont think Alexstrasza the Life-Binder is as harmless as she looks like, she might be given the power to and the inner charm to maintain the order of the world and the living creatures, but she also had to suffer alot.
So i say, coming expansions (?) Deathwing will be introduced, or possibly Sargeras.

After knowing that Muradin was alive, some friends and I discussed a possible ending to this. Remembering that in the final sequence of W3:TFT, the dwarf's voice was the most persistent and the loudest. We speculated in low voice that Muradin may have a redeeming role in all this, trying, maybe successfully, maybe not, to recover young Arthas from the Lich King's control. We'll have to wait anyways to see what happens.

Another thing that people are not talking about is whether they may introduce a new major boss or invasion out of Uldum in Souther Tanaris. As I recall, there have been posts from Blizzard stating they'd like to do something with it at some point, and since Ulduar has now been brought in, perhaps it's time to expand there.

One does not simply walk into Icecrown. It's Saronite Gates are guarded by more than just undead. There is evil there that does not sleep. The Eye of Arthas is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland riddled with frost, ice, and dust. The very air you breath is a plague. Not with ten thousand men could you do this! It is folly.
This whole zone to me a homage to Mordor, with the massive gates, nothing but undead (orcs in Mordor's case) a giant eye watching over all of Icecrown, plus massive fortresses full of nothing but Undead and Vykul, and Icecrown citadel is Barad Dur.

There is a reason why Kil'jaeden is the leader of the burning legion, Sargeras, the fallen titan (by that he is dying), offered Kil'jaeden, Archimonde and Prophet Velen power in exchange of their loyalty, that they would continue to rule over the burning legion. Kil'jaeden and archimonde accepted while Velen refused. Kil'jaeden and Archimonde became corrupted and began to posses demonic powers. As they Kil'jaeden and archimonde became corrupted the became instant enemies with Velen. Velen joined the naaru and flew away on the Exodar but crashed since sabotage (by blood elves or something). Anyway Velens eredar followers started a new race called dreanei. As eredar was their new enemies.
I'm pretty sure that Sargeras is dead, but he might become ressurected or something.
Most of this is taken from my mind as i have been reading about the burning legion and the dreanei race. About half of this is not so sure about.

Also, in a quest in Dragonblight originating from Wyrmrest Temple, you are asked to defend an hourglass at the Bronze Dragonshrine. While I won't get into the specifics of the quest itself, supposedly this action causes the leader of the Infinite Dragonflight to appear. Upon completing the objective, Nozdormu (the Aspect of Time) appears. Whether he is the leader of the Infinite no one knows, but it would make for a neat expansion, killing the Aspect of Time.

Good luck navigating Icecrown if you haven't gotten a flying mount yet. There are countless undead on the ground, many of whom are elites, many of the quests require you to be on a flying mount to get them done, and the Alliance/Horde airship is a major quest starting area, and the only way you can get up and down from there, save flying there from Dalaran, is to fly or jump, in which case you'd better be a pally or mage.

Sargeras is much much to powerful for a group of Azeroth 10 or 25 man raid to take down...this is a demon who's so powerful he can barely come into existence inside Azeroth...if they did put Sargeras in WoW as a raid at all it wouldn't be right...this guy is much to powerful no matter what level or gear you got...

The fact that Blizzard "phases out" NPC's in this zone is a total joke. How the hell do people know what order to do quests in out here with no in game check list? Now I'm screwed for loremaster achievement. And hey WoWhead, can you make the anti spammer characters harder to read?

For those trying to get to icecrown with out a flying mount, there might be a way in through storm peaks. I am not familiar with Storm Peaks but i did see that there was a way to walk into Icecrown from there. I am also not sure if you need a flying mount to get to that position so... good luck

Sargeras may be still alive if he was not the burning legion will already have been destroyed cause Sargeras is the only one leader of the burning legion,we just dont know where is he or why blizzard dint make him as a boss. And a last tip:he is more strong that Kil'jaeden(right hand) and Archimonde(left hand)
It's simple
Sargeras=Burning legion=Burning Crusade (expansion)
No sargears=No Burning legion=No New expansion

Haveing the Argent Crusade(Silverhand paladins and argent dawn in one) join in would be cool, and surely Arthas wil summon TONS of undeads, surely it could be nice with some NPC paladins to help with that. But i fear the encounter, not because it will noi doubt be hard, but because...Arthas shouldent die, that would totally wreck the whole scourge, Arthas/Lich king controls the whole scourge. If the Lich King would die all the undeads would get totally mindless, and that would make it kind of borring to kill most mobs in Northren. Yet stil! It could be nice to end such an evil, but i guess the Lich King would find a way to survive, as a spirit. Arthas' mortal body would be destoryed yes, but i guess Ner'zhul's/the Lich Kings) spirit would survive, inside the glacier of the Frozen Throne. However i think blizzard would keep Sargeras for a last legendary expansion, with HUGE demon invasion, eredar generals, enormuss pitlords, tons of Nathrezim and of course the great destoryer, Sargeras

Maybe you need to brush up on your lore. He didn't get stopped by Medivh ONCE. Trying to get to Azeroth. First one was War of the Ancients. Medivh wasn't even born yet...Much less the Human race. Second was Aegwynn Medivh's mother stopping him. Third was him controlling Medivh and Khadgar/Lothar stopping him.

Illidan wasn't the last boss of TBC, true...
But the 1st thing you should have realized when you stepped through the Dark Portal were the demons at the stairs of destiny..being commanded by a PIT LORD. Iliidan does not control or is not affiliated with Pit Lords of the Burning Legion's forces in any way except for the fact that they want to kill him...
Also, the expansion is named after Arthas...so pretty sure he's the main goal here.
Not saying he's for sure going to be the last boss, but this time Blizzard sure has led us to believe so.

I feel that there is much more to Arthas then what first meets the eye.
But first of all: He led the zombie invasion and terrorized the Alliance and the Horde to provoke them to set foot on Northrend. That paved the way for him to gather more Death Knights.
Maybe he intentionally bought up a defeat at Light's Hope Chapel, "Your master knows what lies beneath the Chapel. That is why he dares not show his face!"
Arthas must have a bigger plan then playing the constant losing end on our quests. I trust that he may be luring the Horde, the Alliance, the Ebon Blade and the Argent Crusade to Icecrown, only for him to pull off something completely unpredictable.
Like...Opening a portal for Sargaras so we can fight him, along with Arthas?
Summoning an old god, who tries to destroy Azeroth?
Countless possibilities abound, and Blizzard doesn't want this a predictable ending.

Here's a few things to settle the lore debate. All assumptions are educated guesses, not adamant but very likely.
1) Icecrown Citadel will be the final raid instance in WotLK, because it's where both Arthas and the Ner'zhul are (because they are merged). The boss will either be Arthas, Prince of Lordaeron (unlikely), Ner'zhul the Lich King (more likely but still unlikely) or Arthas the Lich King (Most likely because he's the one in all the cutscenes and what not). It's not going to be Yogg-Saron or w/e because it's the Wrath of the LICH KING.
2) As a mention to the expansions, there will likely be an expansion for Deathwing and Azshara, and maybe one "Return of..." expansion, but no more than one. As to whether Blizzard will introduce Sargeras as a boss monster, I do not know, it is possible but then they'd have to write more lore to introduce more expansion packs for their cash cow...makes you wonder about their future.
3) I know I'm just adding fuel to the fire with 1 and 2, but this IS about the zone not about future updates. If you want that find a post on the blog or something else.
Icecrown and the Storm Peaks are the two highest leveled WotLK zones as of now. Icecrown is the home of the Lich King and Icecrown Citadel. It is watched over from the sky by the Alliance "Skybreaker" and the Horde "Orgrim's Hammer". After doing a series of quests, you can unlock the Knights of the Ebon Blade's center of operations for non-death knight classes, the Shadow Vault (this is the only place I know of where non-death knights can obtain rep items for Ebon Blade).
In the southeast corner of the glacier is the Argent Vanguard, who is facing many threats from Scourgeholme to the north and nearby attackers as well. Icecrown is also home to many vrykul and Balagarde Fortress, named after Balagarde, the leader of the vrykul forces in Icecrown. I am not sure as to whether or not the Fortress will be come an instance- it is large, it's name appears in large letters, and it has many closed doors like Icecrown Citadel (so it could be the Magisters' Terrace Wrath equivelant) but you kill Balagarde in a quest chain so it seems kinda pointless, unless Blizzard ressurects him.
In Icecrown you see a good bit into the history of the Prince of Lordaeron, Arthas, and how he went crazy. You meet Matthias Lehner (palindrome for Arthas Menethil), and you meet personalities such as Orbaz Bloodbane and the Lich King himself.

Comment by
299502
Ooooh that would be nice. It's likely that the Emerald Dream will make it's way into an expansion. There are too many unanswered questions which will refuse to be answered with a few quest-lines. What about the Green Dragonflight? Malfurion? Naralex? etc.? can only be answered with another expansion. But even if this expansion is created, What would that say about the other 80% of the Warcraft series? It would mean that all of Warcraft I II and III, Vanilla, TBC have been created just to fabricate a game that will end with something unrelated to the whole thing. I think after WotLK, Blizzard will pretty much have to create at least two more expansions. Blizzard has too good of a reputation to let its best game just end with loose ends.
Just one person's opinion. =P

Why has NO ONE mentioned that you can enter Icecrown from a path in Crystalsong Forest? I've seen at least 3 people ask how to get into Icecrown and people keep cluttering the comments with lore speculation. I was so amazed that this is mentioned no where among 134 comments I created an account to post the info myself.
There is a path in Crystalsong Forest starting at 58, 35 (just North West of the path that leads to The Storm Peaks, both of which can clearly be seen on the map). The path leads to the Argent Vanguard which you can continue to follow North West through a canyon and into Icecrown.

For anyone thats not interested in lore, Icecrown pretty much requires that you have a flyer to quest there. You can get there without one(via Dal quest), however you wont be able to do many of the quests. And theres no way your going to run across the zone, a lvl 80 elite will just run over and pwn your ass, or you will run into the 123214136429873469236492736592369462983469283659826389 undead that like to stand right next to each other so you can aggro them all. Eventually, WoW will reach a critical mass. It has happened to so many MMO's, where the development team either abandoned the game, or there was simply nothing else to do. In runescape for example, the items got to the point where you are invincible. Also, assuming that they have a lot more expansions, who wants to level up to 100+? Armor rating and health meters will be ridiculous.
I believe WoW will eventually reach the point will they will have to make a WoW 2.0, like GUild wars, because WOW 1.0 will reach a critical mass, and they will need to do a graphics overhaul within the next 10 years.

The whole zone of Icecrown seems to be a hommage to Mordor from The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. This is noticeable with the design of the buildings, in particular, Icecrown Citadel. Also, there is a giant bridge between The Shadow Vault and Aldur'Thar. One could say that they are 'twin" towers. I would even go so far as to say that the object in the quest 'It's All Fund and Games" is compareable to The Eye of Sauron, and completion of that quest is similar to Frodo and Sam destroying the Ring and killing Sauron. Also, the attire of the Lich King himslef is very similar to Sauron. On the other hand, The Lich King could also be described as an anti-King Arthur - not just in name, but key events, such as pulling the sword from the stone, gaining a kingdom and killing relatives. For Arthas, it was his father he killed, and for Arthur it was Mordred that he offed. (Either his son or half brother - can't remeber which).
Sailing ships that fly - Treasure Planet...

the respawn rate of the undead creeps that are in the ground is scary.
I was rite in front of the first "gate" in icecrown, and looked down, saw at least 100 undead, so I landed in a secluded spot, pulled 1 and BOOM.
5 more came with it, and no matter how fast I killed them they respawned to a simply retarded speed, each time I killled one, another would join the fight.
after 7 exausting minutes of non-stop undead bashing I started to back off, and very slowly shook them off.
I'm not sure how much exp they give, but if a couple of AOE classes bunch toghether they can farm the crap out of this place, cause many of those undead have loot, and one of them dropped a green dagger, the insane respawn rate can make them valuable to raise arm skills, and if they give even a slight of exp, they can be use to powerlvl plp, since their supply is ENDLESS.
not only are there 100+ at any given time, each time you kill one, anotherone spawns IMIDIETLY, so is imposible to fully clean the area.

I get the feeling that Icecrown and The lich king is heavily inspired, if not ripped off, by/the Witch King and the Gates of Mordor. The gates both of mordor and in ice crown is very similiar in style and architecture, and there are huge resemblences in the look of the witch king in the lich king, even their name is almost the same.

Emerald dream-Demon hunter led by altrius 25 lvls below cap in lore shadowmoon...
Sargeras and maelstrom together? titan/halftitan 25 lvls below cap in storm peaks titan lore zone...
coincedence... mabye?
(thn at lvl 99 theyll stop and if they do continue making new stuff they will make the lvl amount very very VERY high from like 99-300 so its more like a long grind and not where the game starts at the highest lvl... ofcourse they may have lvl checkpoints (reach lvl 30/55/70 on one cha and start overs on tht lvl) THIS is the most unlikely and thts y ITS IN BRACKET but the other stuff is definitly possible!)

I'm keen on checking how much lore will be changed with Arthas exacly. I just want to say that WoW is at 3.1.X already. 2.0 is the burning crusade. 1.0 is vanilla. But I'm guessing that you mean an entirely new game of Warcraft. That could happen. Totally new graphics. Many new skills. New terrain. Updated/new encounters. Added lore. Lots of more achievements.
All this would be really awesome. But creating a whole new game like that would not only be very difficult. It would also take ALOT of time. And by the time they were done with that game, so, so many would have gone tired of the wow we know today. And the WoW old-timers, might find that the new lore is just a bunch of bulls***. Making a new game like that would just be an enormous risk. It might turn out to be a whole new success. Or it might turn out to be a big failure.
But it's fun and interesting to think about :)

Azshara being the end game boss.
However, we also need to remember the Emerald Dream, with either the old god who turned it into the emerald nightmare as an end game boss, or maybe even Deathwing however i dont think thats too possible considering he isn't even in the Emerald Nightmare.

Hi its my first post here and i see alot of ideas on an Arthas fight so I thought I might contribute my idea.
In Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne I remember Illidan fighting Arthas. What if just before the fight Illidan joined the raid to fight his nemesis (assuming hes not actually dead sorry if I'm wrong here) again along with, say, Tirion and the raid. Arthas is obviously one of the more powerful bosses in the game universe after merging with the Lich King. During the battle maybe Arthas would summon his frost wyrm to mount and then you would have to kill the wyrm before you could go back to fighting Arthas who would periodically summon waves of ghouls and skeletons to fight you, either from side passages or army of the dead style like a Death Knight.
Sorry for going on but me and my frends often talk about how the fight will go and just thought I'd share my thoughts.

I've been trying to do all the zones in Northrend relatively in order and such. I'm wondering where is the best place to start in at Icecrown. I have a quest for the ship, but there's also the Argent Vanguard which looks like the natural starting area.
Comment by
Rankkor
well, I love this zone, blizzard's new phasing mechanics shine the brightest here.
when you arrive this whole zone belongs to arthas, but by the time you earn the achievement of the quests, pretty much the only zones that still belong to the scourge are Icecrown citadel, the gates, jotunheim and the vrykul village at the center.
the first quest to get here is given at dalaran, on krasus's landing, a representative of the horde or the alliance will fly you to the ship of your faction, there report to the leader of the ship and you will imidietly be sent to the argent vanguard.
the quests hubs in order are: first the argent vanguard, and then the retaking of crusader's pinnacle, and the siege of Scourgeholme.
once all those are done you stop questing for the crusaders and are sent again back to your ship, from there you are sent to diferent gates of icecrown to fight the scourge, but also the DK on your ship will sent the quest to retake the shadow vault.
once both the ship quest and the shadowvault are done, the jotunheim and fleshwerks quests are unlocked.
after them follows the vile hold quests, and then finnaly the scarlet base quests.
when u've done all of this join the argent tournament and rak up the ladder of jousting.
Places that are affected by Phasing: Argent vanguard, Scourgeholme, Crusaders pinnacle, shadowvault, fleshwerks, the vile hold, the weeping quarry, Icecrown citadel (no u don't get in, but the outside changes dramatically during the course of your quests here)
as a last note, don't fret about the phasing, while is true that getting help for these quests is extremely hard (only plp on the same phase as you can see you our the same mobs as you) this gives the problem of having to do most of these quests solo.
but these quests are easy enough to be soloable by any class or spec.
the elite quests are brutal, but those are not phased in, so anyone can help you on them.
all in all the war against the lich king is fought the hardest here.
it is here that arthas feels the hammer fall the loudest.
it is here that will serve as his tomb.

Yes, misterious islands, blank zones etc.
Blizzard have not pulled the plug off for WoW yet.
Nobody mentioned Pandaria, home of the Pandaren. That place in never shown or said where it actually is.
And, Xoroth, home planet of the Dreadlords.
The Emerald Dream would be an actually confusing realm, because if the lore is true, one would need to /sleep to enter :O
Or what about Nazjatar, home city of the Naga with a possible future boss - Azshara. As far as I know, one part of Kalimdor got ripped of as Northrend, and countless islands and cities sunk to the bottom of The Great Sea.
On the world map we see roughy only one side of the planet Azeroth. I wonder whats on the side we don't see, maybe a new continent, but who can say.. A rotating globe as a world map would be nice... :)

I doubt he will be killed for a while since the most anyone has done to him is bloody him up a bit and that person(Etrigg if I remember correctly) died while doing that and when he did that everyone was incredibly amazed... if he does get killed it going to be by someone as powerful as Sargeras, an incredibly powerful weapon (I hope not another Ashbringer *sigh*), or he could just leave us alone for once.

The Elder Shaman Ner'zhul was the Warchief of Draenor, the clans that remained uncaptured after the Dark Portal was destroyed in Azeroth. He was tricked into making a Blood Pact with Kil'jaeden the Deceiver; one that bound the orcs into the service of the Burning Legion. Following the Second War, he opened several portals on Draenor in an attempt to seek out new lands to escape to and conquer, but was immediately captured by Kil'jaeden. His mortal form was destroyed and his spirit was transformed into the spectral Lich King, which was then encased in the mystical ice of the Frozen Throne atop the Icecrown glacier in distant Northrend...
Upon entering one of the portals, Ner'zhul and his followers were immediately captured by Kil'jaeden. The Elder Shaman was torn apart, though his spirit was kept alive. Agreeing to enter into the service of the demon once more, Ner'zhul was bound to the Frozen Throne. His perception, mental powers, and magical abilities expanded tremendously. Thus the Lich King was born. As the Lich King, Ner'zhul would rule the Scourge alone until his merger with Arthas Menethil, who would later consume his spirit to become the dominate spirit of the Lich King.
Maybe Arthas Body is Just A Shell, Maybe Ner'Zhul Still Rules The Scourge?

Doing all the dailies available to Horde in the zone yields around 195 Gold.
(excluding tournament dailies)

Just to add to the thing about Deathwing still being alive; he indeed does still live. I say this because if you go down to Netherwing Ledge, Lady Sinestra will appear every here and there, then she'll have a conversation with the Illardi Lord Barithalas (or whatever he's called, just the guy in the hut with a draenei next2 him), saying that Deathwing requests some Netherwing Eggs(considering that they are his own children), the Illardi Lord guy then is pretty much astounded that Deathwing is still alive. Then Sinestra confirms this to him once again.

Blizzard has stated before that they will not be continuing WoW (whether that means shut it down or just not add content, I don't know). Once during a blizzcon the year before last, and I believe a few blues have said so also on the forums.
I'll ask a GM tonight and link the screenshot here asap.

Just a bit of useless information: the top of the spires of Icecrown Citadel are above the ceiling of flight. So no matter how high you fly, ICC will always be higher than you.

You can't just simply walk into icecrown. There are things worse than orcs guarding those gates.

Talking about the zone, you can see a clearing in the clouds and a massive beam of sunlight coming down.
Have seen it random places in the distance. One clearing at the time, 360 degrees.
Edit: Have seen more then one up at the time now.

The Black Sky that Îcecrown haves! it was made by Illidian ordered by the Titan Sargeras! I readed on the story! that Sargeras asked Illidian to Kill the Lich King cause he was getting to overpowered so Sargeras gave Illidian The Cursed Vision of Sargeras(The epic head item very good for rogues on TBC) but instead of killing The Lich King he made a huge hole at Icecrowns Roof

Questing starting at:
1.The airship ( first quest at Krasus Landing by Officer Van Rossem)
2.Argent Venguard
3.Crusaders Pinacle
4.Argent Tournament
5.Shadow Vault
6.The Fleshwork ( a little gnome above the cave ontop the mountain)
7.Ymirheim (Witch in the cave)
If u are stuck on questing at 135 of 140 / 139 of 140, I just will say to u, go to Moonglade and to the 1 quest there or u can do them all. "Hope within the Emerald Nightmare" is the quest name, u can find it at Shrine of Remulos in Moonglade of npc Keeper Remulos. I were stuck in 2h before I read about it here.
Thank u all that have posted here, it helped me alot.
And good luck all, I hope my word will help a bit.

For all you lore numnuts out there, even IF Illidain is the Lord of the Burning Legion, guess who made him everything he was during TBC. Kil'jaeden. OF COURSE IT MAKES SENSE HE'S LAST. If you played WC3 at all you'd have realized Kil'jaedan is essentially a smarter, less ruthless Sargeras, and you'd have definantly realized it if you read lore books.

The MapID of Icecrown is 492. This is used for any WoW API function that requires a MapID.
For example, to set your current map to Icecrown you can type:

What's the name of the quest where Arthas and Illidan fight? In a vehicle kind of way where you control him and he's got pretty powerful abilities. I did it long ago but can't remember anymore.

Icecrown
Icecrown
is a zone intended for level 67+ players to quest in, as well as return to at max level for the Argent Tournament, a daily quest hub that has many vanity rewards. Icecrown, composed literally of solid ice, is home to the Frozen Throne and Icecrown Citadel. The Lich King's presence can be felt across the zone, with the Argent Crusade and Ebon Blade battling all sorts of Scourge horrors. There are also quest chains covering the Scarlet Onslaught's final outpost, as well as the presence of the corrupted Vrykul.
Icecrown ranges from levels 25-30.
If Chromie Time is enabled, Icecrown's level range is 25-50. Check more information on Chromie Time in our guide!
