The Story of the Necrolords Covenant Campaign

Quick facts:

The Necrolords Covenant was first introduced in Shadowlands.
This Covenant's story mostly takes place in Maldraxxus.
Chronologically, this storyline is set after the events of the original stories of the Shadowlands zones, but at the same time as the stories of the other Covenants.
The Necrolords Covenant Sanctum is the Seat of the Primus.
The Necrolords' leader is the Primus, but he has dissappeared.
The Maldraxxi are usually divided into five houses: The House of Plagues, the House of Eyes, the House of Constructs, the House of Rituals, and the House of the Chosen.
Each House is ruled by a Margrave.

From Chapter 2 on, Renown is required to unlock more chapters.

A total of 2x Renown can be earned each week from weeklies.

Quests from the main campaign will also occasionally offer Renown, usually about 1x a week.

Walkthrough

Necrolords Covenant Story Summary

Chapter 1 - Loyal to the Primus
Having been asked to choose a Covenant, you join the Necrolords and learn about various aspects of your new role. You are gifted abilities unique to the Necrolords, introduced to World Quests, and rewarded with your first Renown. You venture into the Maw, where you rescue souls and bring them back to help your Covenant with the help of a broker named Ve'nari, and witness Baine Bloodhoof being dragged into Torghast, Tower of the Damned. You form a special bond with Plague Deviser Marileth in the Soulbind ritual, and learn how to unlock certain upgrades in your Covenant Sanctuary.

Chapter 2 - Torghast
You are summoned to Oribos by Highlord Bolvar Fordragon, who suggests you ask Ve'nari in the Maw if she can help you find Baine. Ve'nari is already expecting you and helps you access Torghast, where you rescue Baine from Warden Arkoban. You discover a strange object on the warden and soon learn it unlocks a special area in Torghast, where the Runecarver is being kept chained by the Jailer. You help the Runecarver recover some of his memories and unshackle one of his arms. In return, he promises to help you gain more power.

Chapter 3 - The House of Eyes
When your Covenant sanctuary is under siege, you assist Baroness Vashj as she puts into motion a plan to get a fallen Necropolis up and running - but you will have to fight off the scavengers pulling it apart for scraps first!

Chapter 4 - Grand Theft Necropolis
You follow Vashj's plans to steal the Necropolis Zerekriss and though your enemy seems aware of your plans, you're victorious anyway. What's more, you find the Primus's own bindings of fleshcrafting, which help to empower the Necrolords.

Chapter 5 - Do Not Forget
You help Alexandros Mograine restore Maldraxxus's honor by driving Margrave Gharmal's trecherous forces from Bastion. You earn Xandria's trust, and Alexandros =wonders why he was sent to the Necrolords rather than the Kyrian, but learns that it is because the Kyrian let go of their memories, as burdens, while for Alexandros, his memories of his loved ones are his strength. You return to Baroness Draka, and stand ready to prepare for war with Gharmal and his Constructs.

Chapter 6 - A Golden Dawn
You and Alexandros Mograine work together with Xandria and the Kyrian to take on Margrave Gharmal at the House of Constructs. The attack is successful and you take out Gharmal himself. You discover he had a hoard of Anima from Revendreth, and you recover the mantle of the Primus from his tower, which you are able to use to empower the Necrolords even more.

Chapter 7 - The Wages of Sin
In Chapter 7, you investigate the situation in Revendreth. The Accuser introduces you to Kael'thas Sunstrider, who helps you shut down the Maldraxxi operations in Revendreth and take out their leader, Lady Ouix'Ara, who reveals troubling news: Kel'Thuzad is behind some of this, and is working with The Jailer. You recover the Pauldrons of Imperium, which you can use to boost the power of your covenant.

Chapter 8 - The House of Rituals
You find yourself working with a strange ally, the Ritualist lich Balmedar. He hates Kel'Thuzad and agrees to help you infiltrate the House of Rituals if you promise to take him down. You perform a ritual that creates an illusion, disguising you as an Acolyte from the House of Rituals so that you can walk around freely to investigate. You assist Kel'Thuzad himself as he prepares a special ritual, and discover he intends to breach the Maw. You manage to sabotage his ritual, but are discovered in the process. Though you manage to escape, you are too late to save the leader of the House of Rituals, Margrave Sin'dane, from Kel'Thuzad's treachery, and you are forced to flee.

Chapter 9 - Assault on the House of Rituals
You take the war to the House of Rituals, confronting Kel'Thuzad and finally defeating him, earning Margrave Sin'dane's trust and the staff of the Primus in the process. You bring the staff back to the Seat of the Primus, bringing great power to your Covenant, and restoring Maldraxxus to Necrolord control.

Ve'nari says: It is remarkable what you can find discarded in the Maw. I pride myself on recognizing a valuable asset when I see one.

Now, let us get to business.StygiaRule 1: Have an Escape PlanMany doomed souls suffer within the Maw. You must be careful if you do not wish to join them.

Your Soulkeeper can hold a small number of souls until you return to your covenant. But that will be of little benefit if you do not survive this place yourself.

There is a substance, stygia, that is found on some creatures within the Maw. The stronger the soul, the more stygia they have.

Collect some of it for me and I can fashion it into many things you will find quite useful.

Ve'nari says: Rule 1: Always have an exit strategy. To ensure one's continued existence within the Maw, one must maintain a plan of escape at all times.
Ve'nari says: I acknowledge the irony of me creating this rule despite my current inability to depart this place. You may laugh--briefly--without causing offense.
Ve'nari says: Enough chuckling. Gather the stygia I require and return with haste. Your cypher awaits!

The Mawsworn regularly transfer souls to various blocks of Torghast from many different areas in the Maw.

Renown 11 or Chapter 5 seems to reward a hearthstone that takes you to your Covenant. For Necrolords, it's the "Necrolord Hearthstone" from vendor "Su Zettal". That seems to be missing from the reward list.
