You can rarely get Rousing Frost as a rare side fishing item -- and thus you can also find them occasionally when Lunker fishing or in a Tuskarr Tacklebox.

You can rarely get Rousing Fire from fishing in Lava. You do not need Lava Fishing from Iskaara Tuskarr rep to do this.

You can sometimes get Rousing Decay and Rousing Frost from Rotten Rimefin Tuna. To get Rotten Rimefin Tuna, you can use Ice Fishing (Iskaara Tuskarr Renown 10) to fish up Frosted Rimefin Tuna from Ice Fishing Holes. Click on the fish to brush off the frost, which turns them into Rimefin Tuna -- warning, unlike the Frosted version, Rimefin Tuna do not stack! In 1 hour, they will turn into Rotten Rimefin Tuna. Loot them for primarily Maybe Meat, and about a 10% chance for 1-2 Rousing Decay or Rousing Frost. However, on most servers, you're far, far money ahead to sell your Frosted Rimefin Tuna or even your Rotten Rimefin Tuna and buy these essences instead.

Maximizing Gathering Yields with PerceptionPerception Finesse Perception and Gear Choices

Profession hats for Gathering all increase Perception (and Deftness), so invest here.

Profession back pieces increase Finesse, which isn't as crucial for Essence farming.

Profession tools have random stats, so make sure to get one with Perception. Always try to get one of the highest quality - Quality 5 if possible.

Botany: 40 points.
Gives +10 Perception and gives you the ability to herb while mounted.

Botany - Cultivation: 40 points.
Cultivation does 2 important things. First, it gives you +1 Perception for every point you put into this tree, as well as an extra +25 Perception (+10 with 5 points and +15 with 35), ending with +65 Perception (6.5%). Second, the seeds you harvest will yield even more Rousing Essences.

Mastering the Elements: 40 points.
Be sure to open this as soon as you hit Herbalism (50) for the Overload Elemental Herb cooldown. Putting 40 points into Mastering the Elements will increase your overall yield of Rousing Essences as the 40-point ability - no Perception check required. It's an across-the-board improvement.

Bountiful Harvests: 5 points
This may seem like an odd choice to do this before investing in any of the sub-specializatons under Mastering the Elements. However, there's a good reason: taking this side trip into a specific herb specialization will yield more Perception that can be applied to all Herbalism (and thus Rousing Essence) gathering, not just the individual Elemental herbs. Invest just 5 points into Bountiful Harvests to open Arboriculture.

Bountiful Harvests - Arboriculture: 35 points
35 points into Arboriculture will yield +25 Perception for all herbs. You'll get +10 with 5 points and +15 with 35. Why this herb and not the others? The other herb sub-specializations yield only +10 Perception fairly high up in their trees. Plus, Writhebark remains one of the best sellers, so improving your yields here will have other farming benefits. Going to 40 points isn't necessary unless you really want to improve your chances of getting Writhebark.

Mastering the Elements - Any subspecializations (35 points each)
Unlike Mining, there isn't a sub-specialization here that gives you +Perception for all herbs. They all give +30 Perception to their individual herb type (Windswept, Frigid, Frigid, and Decayed) by investing 35 points. Don't bother going to 40 points unless you want the end-tree buffs, most of which are not game changers.

Specializing for Mining

Rousing Air - Possible from Primal nodes with specialization Mastering the Elements (10) > Primal Extraction

Rousing Earth - Mined from Hardened or Primal nodes

Rousing Fire - Mined from Molten or Primal nodes

Rousing Frost - Possible from Primal nodes with specialization Mastering the Elements (10) > Primal Extraction

Rousing Ire - Mined from Infurious nodes (only available in War Mode)

Rousing Order - Mined from Titan-Touched or Primal nodes

Mining Process: 35 points.
This gives you +15 Perception, as well as Deftness and Finesse. You need 25 points to get the Perception. Most importantly, at 35 points it gives you the ability to mine while mounted. A must-have.

Mining Process - Surveying: 30 points
Completing this short tree gives you a total of +75 Perception - +30 from completing the tree (+1 per level), and +15 at 10/15/25 points. As a bonus, you'll sometimes get an Illimited Diamond from Rich veins. While this looks like a lot of Perception in one go (and it is), realize that Mining has far fewer points available for generalized Perception than does Herbalism. Getting them all at once on a short tree is the consolation prize.

Mastering the Elements: 50 points (Open Primal Extraction at 10 Points, Hardened at 20 Points)
The Mastering the Elements tree is larger for Miners than it is for Herbalists, but it also offers a lot more. The ability to find more Rousing Essences (always, without a Perception check) also occurs more quickly -- at 15 points instead of 40 for Herbalists. You'll also get a total of +40 Perception for all Elemental deposits - +10 Perception awarded at 5/20/25/35.

The final ability gives you a chance to get a random Rousing Essence when you Overload any mine. This can include any type you'd normally get in a mine (no Rousing Decay and no Rousing Ire unless you are in War Mode). Given that you mostly want to be Overloading mines that actually give more essences (Hardened and Molten), you will want this extra chance at Rousing Order.

Mastering the Elements - Primal Extraction: Open Tree
Opening Primal Extraction gives you a chance to loot the two Rousing Essences you cannot normally get through Mining - Rousing Air and Rousing Air - whenever you mine a Primal node. Do this as soon as you hit 10 points in Mastering the Elements .

Opening Hardened gives you a chance to loot extra Rousing Earth from Hardened nodes. Do this as soon as you hit 20 points in Mastering the Elements .

Mastering the Elements - Primal Extraction: 35 Points
Unlike the other specialization trees under Mastering the Elements, filling out the Primal Extraction to 35 points gives you +30 Perception for all node types, not just Primal. Going to 40 points is not necessary unless you really want the top-level ability, which is a damage buff. It's better to save those points to invest into the individual elemental mine types.

Metallurgy: 30 points
With 30 points in Metallurgy, you can pick up another +15 Perception for all Mining nodes. Don't bother going to 35 points; this gives you the ability to improve Khaz'gorite, which in nearly all case is a complete waste of money, since you have to combine 5 lower-level ore to get it. If you need Khaz'gorite Ore, sell your lower quality ore and buy it on the Auction House.

Mastering the Elements - Various sub-trees: 35 Points
The three remaining sub-trees under Mastering the Elements all give a total of +45 Perception, but only toward the type of node it specializes in ( Molten , Hardened, or Titan-Touched). Again, going to 40 points in these trees isn't necessary unless you want the end-tree buff. These will also give you some cooldown reductions on your Overload Elemental Deposit.

Open Harvesting at Skinning (25).
This gives you a knowledge of anatomy that gives you extra damage against beasts and dragonkin in the Dragon Isles, which improves your ability to kill skinnables. Since you can skill up Skinning very, very quickly, there's no reason to wait on opening this up. You'll probably have more Skinning skill than 50 by the time you leave the first proto-drake area.

Bait Crafter: 25 points
It's really only necessary to get Bait Crafter to 25 to start; this opens up both the Elemental Infusion and Mastery trees. There is no additional Perception in the main Bait Crafter tree; finishing it out at 40 points increases the cooldown of the Elusive Creature Bait when skinning rare and elite creatures. It's nice to have, but not as important as filling out Elemental Infusion and Mastery.

Bait Crafter - Elemental Infusion: 40 points
Elemental Infusion teaches you to create Infusions, which you can combine with your Elusive Creature Bait to create a special bait that will draw an Elementally-charged creature. These items require a small investment of Rousing Essence, but like will attract like; the creatures will then drop Rousing Essences of the same type.

These are the Infusions you can create. The type of Rousing Essences you use will infuse the summoned creature with the ability to drop the same types of Rousing Essences.

For farming Rousing Order, you will want to put all 40 points into Bait Crafter - Elemental Infusion so you can pick up Infusion: Titan at the end of the tree. On the way, you will also pick up +10 Perception and cooldown reductions for your Elusive Creature Bait.

Bait Crafter - Mastery: 40 points
This is what gives you the ability to summon Rare and Elite creatures with your Elusive Creature Bait (modified with Infusions, of course!). Rare and Elite creatures will also drop more Rousing Essence, particularly if you're also working on building your Perception.

Bait Crafter gives a total of +50 Perception, since you get +1 Perception for every point invested in this tree, plus +10 Perception with a 10-point investment. In addition, you get more cooldowns for your Elusive Creature Bait and increased ability to draw Rare and Elite creatures.

Harvesting: 10 points
This is just to open up the sub-specialization Trophy Collector.

Harvesting - Trophy Collector: 40 points
This is the other Perception-building tree in Skinning. Not only does it increase your chances of harvesting species-specific skinnables, it also has the biggest punch of Perception. You'll earn a total of +105 Perception by finishing out this tree -- +1 per point invested, +15 Perception with 20 points, and a huge +50 points when you get to 40. Not only will this make your Infusions give you a greater chance at more Essences, but you'll also have a better chance of farming more valuable hides.
