MaxTwitchRecommended Talent Builds for Holy Paladins in PvP

Crusader's Might - This talent does not provide enough utility to be worth it.

Bestow Faith - This talent is chosen essentially 100% of the time, as the healing it provides is definitely worth using, and the holy power it gives is irreplaceable.

Light's Hammer - This talent does almost no damage or healing, and is only used sparsely in PvE.

Saved by the Light - This is the default pick for Holy Paladins in Shadowlands as it provides a very good shield when the target of one of your beacon's reaches 30% health, and can often save cooldowns when available.

Judgment of Light - This talent, similarly to Light's Hammer does almost no healing, and does not have a place in PvP, especially when compared against Saved by the Light.

Holy Prism - This talent has not seen usage in many years, as once again, just like Light's Hammer and Judgment of Light, it does next to no healing or damage, and cannot compete with Saved by the Light.

Fist of Justice - This talent is often taken as it provides a stun much more often to Holy Paladins, although it was nerfed slightly at the start of Shadowlands - going from being based around Judgement casts to Holy Power usage. When not needing an extra CC like Blinding Light or Repentance, it will pretty much always be chosen.

Repentance - This talent is often used as an addition CC with the diminishing return of an Incapacitate. It is very useful when the Holy Paladin is able to cast it, and as such is hard to get off 100% of the time. When landed, it can easily force cooldowns as it lasts 7 seconds.

Blinding Light - When you want an extra CC but don't want an Incapacitate, Blinding Light is your best friend. Its on the blind diminishing return, and as such is very useful when your team has large amounts of incapacitates already available. This talent is incredibly powerful as it is AoE, removes all DoTs/bleeds on targets hit and doesn't put them in combat, which can lead to some further CC from something like Sap from a Subtlety Rogue.

Unbreakable Spirit - This talent was used primarily in the past, but has become much less common with the need for Cavalier rising. It is very useful if you know the enemy team is going to be on you most of the game, as it allows you to get major defensives back faster.

Cavalier - This talent is chosen most of the time when playing Holy Paladin in Shadowlands, as the conduit Light's Barding has made Divine Steed a very long duration. Having two of these can make the Paladin extremely mobile, and able to get to enemy healers or DPS, whereas previously they had a harder time.

Rule of Law - This talent is used only in PvE and does not really have a place in PvP.

Divine Purpose - This talent is chosen basically 100% of the time, as it provides a large healing increase and can easily save the Paladin or his/her teammates with back to back procs.

Holy Avenger - This talent sees pretty much no usage in PvP, as it does not provide an effect worth the 3 minute cooldown and replacement of Divine Purpose.

- This talent is once again almost never used in PvP, as it's not worth losing Divine Purpose. In very rare cases, it can be used for a very high damage build, but it is not reliable to run and as such cannot be recommended.

Sanctified Wrath - This talent was irreplaceable in BFA, especially because it combined so well with Ineffable Truth. Nowadays, it is pretty much never taken, as getting longer wings and a shorter Holy Shock cooldown does not equate to the healing possibilities of Awakening.

Avenging Crusader - This is basically useless compared to both the other options. It has been nerfed into the ground and requires the Paladin to have large melee uptime, which is very rare.

Awakening - As previously mentioned, this talent provides a huge increase in output, as proccing these "mini" wings can save your team from certain death. Combined with the fact that it has no internal cooldown, you are able to get multiple stacks of this, and the talent can effectively serve as a second pair of real wings.

Glimmer of Light - A thing of the past, this talent is no longer used as the healing is nowhere near good enough these days.

Beacon of Faith - This is a very good talent and is taken 100% of the time. Combined with Saved by the Light, this talent provides a heavy increase in the Paladins ability to heal multiple targets at the same time, all the while keeping the shield in their back pocket on two targets at once.

Beacon of Virtue - A seemingly better Beacon of Faith on the outside, this talent is never taken due to the fact that the beacons only last 8 seconds, and the talent has a 15 second cooldown. Without the ability to have the beacon on someone permanently, this talent would likely result in the target of damage on the Paladins team dying without proccing Saved by the Light.

Recommended PvP Talents for Holy PaladinsPvP Talents

Divine Favor is part of the core Holy Paladin healing rotation in PvP. Without this honor talent it would be much more difficult to recover your team against interrupt effects. Mostly used on Holy Light, pretty much on cooldown as this talent speeds up the cast time of your next Holy Light or Flash of Light by 30%! Something to keep in mind is that Divine Favor will be used on Flash of Light more now since the Divine Favor cast speed bonus was nerfed.

Light's Grace was completely redesigned in patch 9.1.0. It buffs your Flash of Light by 25% (was formerly Holy Light by 50%), and the damage reduction effect no longer stacks up to 3 times, but applies once for the full 15% damage reduction for 5 seconds making it a much more consistent damage reduction component. This honor talent redesign also affects our core healing rotation, as we're more inclined to use Flash of Light, as it was baseline buffed by 20%, and this talent gives an additional 25% increase.

Judgments of the Pure- This new honor talent is basically a secondary dispel option. Since your Cleanse has a 8 second cooldown, this honor talent is extremely potent versus Mages and Warlocks for example, who can reapply crowd control in between your 8 second cooldown dispel.

Cleanse the Weak- Played against mainly Shadow priests and Moonkins in order to aoe dispel dots on your team. Will see less use against Elemental Shamans now as, just like Affliction Warlocks now have dispel protection on Flame Shock.

Blessed Hands is taken because it provides two stacks of Blessing of Protection, and Blessing of Freedom which is a very important part of Holy Paladin survivability. I still believe this to be a standard talent choice for fighting everything except spell cleaves.

Ultimate Sacrifice - Even with the duration nerf to 6 seconds, with how fast paced and bursty the PvP meta is in Shadowlands, you need this honor talent to fully stop the opponents offense. Much of the time right now the enemy can kill through the 30% damage reduction of regular Blessing of Sacrifice.

Darkest before the Dawn - This honor talent got buffed in 9.1. With the new tier sets coming to Holy Paladin in 9.2, this talent will most definitely be a primary source of healing for Paladins. When paired with the legendary power Shadowbreaker, Dawn of the Sun, this honor talent becomes pretty powerful. Combined with the Necrolord covenant ability Vanquisher's Hammer, some great synergy lies here. We take it one more step further, the Holy Paladin conduit Enkindled Spirit buffs your next 3 Light of Dawns by a significant amount. All these factors taken into consideration will easily give this talent its moment to shine, as it can be expected to be used a lot more in 9.2.

In Shadowlands, Human and Dark Iron Dwarf are the best races for Alliance.

Human

Human is a great choice for Holy Paladins. The extra CC break with Will to Survive really helps in saving cooldowns and saving your teammates in tough situations where you otherwise wouldn’t be able to do so. Not only can it save your teammates but it can also save you, as it allows you to get out of a stun where the enemy team may be focusing you with cooldowns. Overall, it's a strong racial for Holy Paladins.

Dark Iron Dwarf

Dwarves are back on the menu! Fireblood can be used primarily to remove potent magic effects such as Mindgames, Silence, and Mass Entanglement + Solar Beam. This makes Dark Iron Dwarf a powerful option against certain classes, but it will still be much less effective than Human overall.

Horde

In Shadowlands, Tauren is the best race for Horde.
