If you group with a friend who picked a different expansion than you, you can also queue for their expansion's dungeons as long as they remain in the group.

You do not necessarily need to return to Chromie every time you want to change expansions. While you will need to select an expansion to gain initial access to certain zones, such as the Broken Isles, Outlands, Northrend, Pandaria, and Draenor, once you have gained access to a zone, you can go back to it at any point in time to experience scaled leveling as long as you have Chromie Time enabled.

If you choose to level outside of Chromie Time, zones have a level cap. This means that the mobs in zones will start and stop scaling at specific levels.

If you want a higher-level player to run you through dungeons and raids, or you want to manually enter instances, you will need to speak to Chromie to return to the present. If this is not done, you will not be able to manually enter instances.

Experience Boosts

Enlisted - Starting at level 20, players can turn on War Mode in their faction's capital city. While war mode does flag the player for PvP, it also passively increases their experience gains. The baseline for this buff is 10% with the strength of the XP bonus increasing depending on how underrepresented your faction is.

Draught of Ten Lands - Players who have characters that are level 50+ can obtain these xp potions for their alts. These potions are purchased for Honorbound Service Medal/7th Legion Service Medal from Provisioner Mukra and Provisioner Stoutforge. These potions not only give a minor boost to primary stats, they also persist through death.

Holidays - Throughout the year, various holidays provide buffs that allow players to obtain increased XP gains. These holidays include Hallow's End, Midsummer Fire Festival, and WoW's Anniversary.

WHEE! - This buff can be obtained from riding the carousel when the Darkmoon Faire comes to town each month. However, be warned that this buff does not persist through death.

Darkmoon Top Hat - An alternative to the WHEE! buff, this item gives the same effects as riding the carousel, except that you do not have to return to the faire to reapply the buff. The drawback of this item, however, is that you need to do the faire dailies to obtain multiple or purchase them using Darkmoon Prize Ticket. However, these items DO NOT stack with WHEE!.

As the driver, maneuver the vehicle, destroy the three rows of pillars leading to the boss room, and spam Blue Pyrite at the boss during the encounter.

As the passenger, shoot down flying Liquid Pyrite with Anti-Air Rocket, use Grab Crate to grab pyrite and refuel your demolisher, and give your demolisher a speed boost with Increased Speed to escape from the boss when it fixates on your vehicle with Pursued.

Salvaged Siege Engine

Use Ram to destroy the three rows of pillars leading up to the boss.

Interrupt the boss with Electroshock when it casts Flame Vents.

Battering Ram - Deals massive physical damage and knocks the target away (if possible).

Flame Vents - An AoE fire attack. This needs to be interrupted by siege engines.

Missile Barrage - Deals very minor damage to a vehicle.

Pursued - A fixate that randomly targets one vehicle (usually prioritizes demolishers).

Strategy

Demolisher drivers spam Blue Pyrite (2 key) at the boss and make sure the debuff does not fall off. You want to maintain 10 stacks of the debuff at all times. Only move from the boss when targeted with Pursued. Move towards Liquid Pyrite when your pyrite gets low (blue bar on your vehicle frame).

Demolisher passengers spam Anti-Air Rocket to knock down Liquid Pyrite, use Grab Crate to grab pyrite and refuel your demolisher.

Siege engines interrupt the boss when it casts Flame Vents.

XT-002 DeconstructorAbilities

Gravity Bomb - One of two abilities that XT puts on a random player (including tanks). Detonates after 9 seconds and pulls nearby players towards the detonation.

Searing Light - One of two abilities that XT puts on a random player. Pulses an AoE for 9 seconds that deals holy damage to all players within 10 yards.

Tympanic Tantrum - A periodic AoE ability channeled by the boss that deals 10% of the afflicted player's maximum health in physical damage per second for 8 seconds. This ability cannot be outranged.

NPC's

Heart of the Deconstructor - This is dropped underneath wherever the boss is currently standing each time the boss loses 25% health. Any damage dealt to the heart while it is exposed deals damage to the boss. Killing the heart activates the boss's hard mode (and should be avoided).

XE-321 Boombot - One of three types of mobs summoned during each heart phase. Explodes on death, dealing damage to nearby players and robots.

XM-024 Pummeller - Only one of these spawns per heart phase. A tank needs to pick this up.

XS-013 Scrapbot - A little robot that slowly walks towards the boss. If the robot reaches XT, it is absorbed and heals the boss for 1% of its maximum health.

XT StrategyPhase 1

Before the pull, place a marker near each of the 4 trash piles (each corner of the room).

Get the boss's health to each 25% threshold as quickly as possible.

Move away from the raid with Gravity Bomb or Searing Light. You do not need to run far away. Just move 15-20 yards away from others.

Make sure each player is in range of a healer for Tympanic Tantrum. Since healers at level 30 no longer have raid-wide CDs, players will need to heal themselves (if possible), and healers will need to focus on classes that cannot heal themselves.

Phase 2

Three waves of robots spawn per heart phase.

Add priority: Boombots > Scrapbots > Pummeller

Hero/Lust towards the end of the third heart phase.

Ranged DPS swap to the adds that spawn from the trash piles.

Melee damage the heart until roughly 20-30%, then swap to adds. Move away from boombots when they are about to die.

The off tank should pick up any pummellers that spawn. At the end of each phase 2, bring the pummeller(s) to the boss for cleave if they are still alive.

Algalon the ObserverAbilities

Ascend to the Heavens - Algalon's enrage mechanic. He will cast this ability 6 minutes into the encounter or if AT LEAST one player does not soak Big Bang.

Big Bang - Deals massive physical damage to anyone not phased by a Black Hole and will remove players from the black hole phase. When this ability begins to be cast, all players (minus the tank currently tanking Algalon) should enter a Black Hole to avoid taking damage. The tank that stays out must use a large cool-down, such as Shield Wall, to avoid dying. If the tank dies from Big Bang and no one else is unphased to deal with this mechanic, Algalon will cast Ascend to the Heavens and wipe the raid.

Cosmic Smash - One of the most common abilities that kills players learning the fight, Cosmic Smash spawns a red, smoky/cylindrical object on the ground which detonates after a few seconds. Players who fail to move away from this ability will take a large amount of fire damage and also be knocked into the air, causing them to take significant fall damage upon landing. If a player gets knocked into the air, this ability can be countered with an immunity, such as Divine Shield, Slow Fall, or a teleport such as Transcendence: Transfer. This ability will also deal fire damage to the entire raid.

Phase Punch - Periodically, Algalon will place this debuff on the tanks. If a tank reaches five stacks of Phase Punch, they will become phased from the rest of the raid for 10 seconds. Tanks should taunt at 4 stacks of this debuff.

Phase Punch - When a player (most likely the tank) reaches 5 stacks of Phase Punch, they will become phased for 10 seconds. The best way to prevent this debuff is for the tanks to swap at 4 stacks of Phase Punch.

Quantum Strike - Algalon's default attack. This ability hits the current tank for significant physical damage.

NPCs

Black Hole - These are created when a Collapsing Star dies and explodes. Players who enter a Black Hole become phased and must deal with Dark Matter while inside. Black Holes can be removed by kiting a Living Constellation through it.

Collapsing Star - These adds only spawn during Phase 1, lose 1% of their maximum health every second, and cast Black Hole Explosion when they die, which inflicts massive shadow damage to the entire raid. When a Collapsing Star dies, it spawns a Black Hole.

Dark Matter - Exists in the phase from entering a Black Hole and also periodically spawn from Black Hole in Phase 2 of the encounter.

Living Constellation - These adds only spawn during Phase 1, spawn in groups of 3, and attack players with Arcane Barrage, which deals light arcane damage. These adds can either be ignored, passively cleaved down, or they can be kited through Black Hole which will remove both the constellation and the Black Hole.

Suggested Compositions10 Player:15 Player:25+ Player:Phase 1

After the RP ends, have a raid member use Drums of Rage (or equivalent) and begin nuking the boss. If DPS feels low, you can opt to save drums for after the first Big Bang.

The main tank will tank Algalon where he stands (only moving the boss if a Collapsing Star comes too close to melee to avoid accidental cleave) until they reach 2 stacks of Phase Punch. The Off-Tank will then taunt and hold the boss until after the first Big Bang is over.

When the Collapsing Stars come out, a player (possibly 2 players in comps larger than 18 players) needs to begin killing one star at a time around Algalon. When the stars die, they will deal massive AoE damage to the entire raid. While the first explosion isn't particularly lethal (because everyone will most likely be topped and there’s not much else going on), the person killing stars will need to make sure the raid is close to topped before killing any more stars.

Avoid being knocked into the air by Cosmic Smash and reduce damage taken by moving away (The raid leader should make regular callouts to help players avoid this mechanic).

(Optional) Kite or have Death Knights in your group grip Living Constellation through Black Hole to close them.

When Algalon begins channeling Big Bang, all players except for the tank that is currently tanking Algalon need to run into a Black Hole to avoid being one-shot (sometimes they don't automatically phase you, so you may need to strafe inside them to become phased). The Tank staying out needs to pop a big cool down, and a healer may need to use an external cool down, such as Life Cocoon, to keep them alive. The Tank that goes in with the rest of the group needs to pick up the Dark Matter so that they don’t kill the DPS and healers. Once Algalon finishes casting Big Bang, players will then be ported out back into the room.

If you didn't already use Drums of Rage on pull, use it after Big Bang ends and ignore the Collapsing Star unless they are close to dying and you're not going to reach 20% before one dies.

As soon as the RP ends, immediately use Drums of Rage (or an equivalent) and begin nuking the boss.

Everyone (including the healer when able) should do as much damage to Algalon as possible to get him to 20% before ANY collapsing stars die.

Ignore the constellations when they spawn (if possible), otherwise try and have the tank get aggro on them.

Once Algalon reaches 20%, he will put down 4 black holes on the ground.

Run/misdirect adds from the black holes to the tank if desired, otherwise continue to burn him until the fight ends.

As of BfA the Ilvl requirment is now <= 100. So you can now use all raids except icc25h and ruby sanctum 10h/25n/h for gearing. Everything else seems to drop ilvl100 max.

Hey mate
First off i enjoyed your generall guide a lot and am currently trying to get the AV, so i appreciate the work you put into all these guides a lot.
BUUUUT ( yeah i know this had to come now :D) i have several rather specific suggestions that all come from the same 2 generall ones:
a) Normal mode Burning Crusade dungeon-gear, when farmed by a level 80 is in quite some cases supperior to level 80 raid gear.
Some examples are:
Shaarde the Lesser- weapon from Auchenai Crypts
as well as the Gauntlets of Divine Blessings from Magisters' Terrace
and the Girdle of the Immovable from The Slave Pens.
So as you can see there are quite a lot.
b) Proccing items (trinkets and weapons) dont seem to have an internal cooldown anymore, so quite a few of them have almost 100% uptime, which makes them in almost all cases supperior to active trinkets, which DO have their normal cooldown. (Sadly this issue does NOT seem to be shared by the ICC-faction rings.)
This is true for the tank weapon from icc "last word" (which still isnt particulaly good) and healing trinkets such as pandoras plea from mimiron, which, im fairly certain, makes it BiS for every heal class as it just gives a flat 91 int (i also think that the eye of the broodmother slipped past you for the heal shaman guide, but thats a side note)

Good guide. My guild is using this as a base for knocking out the Feats of Strength soon. One thing i noticed that isnt mentioned, on the few caster guide i clicked on, is under consumables Superior Wizard Oil is not mentioned. It should be. It CAN BE APPLIED to a weapon in addition to your regular enchant. Also to note that at BFA level 80 it provides 32 intellect and the Cata flasks were able to use provide 34 intellect. Its basically giving you 2 flasks by using it.

Side note: I know sharpening stones used to work the same way in that they dont overwrite your weapon enchant. That being said i know there are some pretty decent ones out there that may work in a similar way for melee giving a bit of extra oomph to them as well.

I went to the gear guide for priest and it has Evoker's Helmet of Second Sight, from a quest in BC as the helm slot.
It lists this item as ilvl 100, but if you do this quest at level 80, the ilvl is 105...was there some information somewhere that I was supposed to do this at 79 or something? What a waste of time. What item do I use now that I can't use this one?

I'd be really interested in seeing some thoughts on professions - i'm currently leveling a warrior for this and she's an engineer at the moment for filling out some other things, but i'd be interested to see what professions have what to offer here.

I'd say u guys got most of it down to earth except the tier list, alot of the downgrade classes at c and b are popping off but is greatly dependent on both playstyle and gear choosing.

Me myself i got both a Unh dk and a Affi lock, both are popping off at 2k dps (Unh) and 2.8k+ (affi). Most of them are just BIg build ups for the dps, just that u need to put in time to perfect it, so wouldn't put them at C tier when u put fury warriors at S that i've never seen break 2k dps in any group.

Just my opinion, great on the explaniation of the fight tho.

first of all great guide! I just wanted to mention few things:

I discovered that Resto-Druid is one of the S-Tier DPS Specs, with a huge lead to other S-Tier Specs. I was messing around on it a bit and thought I give it a try as a valid DPS-Spec and due to the scaling with Feral Affinity and Spellpower it's just super OP atm. I am doing between 2.3k-2.7k DPS on Herald. I have uploaded a PoV to YouTube, if you want to check that out for proof since this might sound very strange. Also, I personally would put Disc as a S-Tier healing spec, because of their massive DPS in the BL Phase and Barrier being such a good raid cooldown for cleaving living consellations.
Having atleast two of them in a small group is just nice.

A quick question about the raid, is it possible to kill the 2 first bosses during one raid and come back the next day for Algalon, maybe with some other players ? In both raid groups, players will be level 80.

If you want to farm items at lvl 77 (outdated guide) you need to lvl up until you are 29 and then farm the items. My character was 77 and got squished to 29. The items were stil iLvL 34 which is all good.

Is this achievement still possible since Shadowlands came out? A lot of class buffs and key abilities are missing at level 30, like warlock soulwells and warrior group damage buffs. I'm debating leveling up my Herald alt since the meta has probably changed since 8.3.
I kept the alt at level 30 with the correct gear to help any guild members that missed the first achievement run we did (and so I didn't have to grind out all that gear again).

For TWW - worth looking here for how to gear up now that the totem, ooze and other cheese items are nerfed.

Thanks to Unmendable from XPOff for writing that post or I would have just levels to 30 and borked everything.

Essentially
- level to level 23 then lock xp for ilvl107 gear to drop from Timewalking dungeons and spam them to gear up.
- level to 24 then lock again - ilvl 106 world quest and rarespawn loot from the Dragon Isles {eg trinkets).
- Level locking at 25; you can get a full set of ilvl 107 gear from normal dragonflight dungeons through chromie time. This includes necklaces that can be triple socketed. This loot will be ilvl 95 at 23.
- Level Lock 26; the 20th anniversary event vendor "Bobadormu" sells gear, especially mastery gear and weapons at ilvl 107.

Unmenable notes - When Level Locked at 24 you can attempt to solo or get carried by level 10/11/20/30 twinks or que up in chromie time burning crusade/wotlk dungeons for socketed 106 loot. This method can also be used to get 106 Balefire Branch from BFA or 106 Infinitely divisible Ooze from Shadowlands, or even 106 Parjesh's Medallion from Legion. At level 23 this loot is ilvl 100.
