This is the new currency for TWW pre-patch event purchases. The event begins on 30th/31st July (US/EU), and ends on 26th August with TWW release.
Note that this is an actual currency in the currency tab, and is movable between alts like many currencies now are. (click on the currency, then click transfer, pick character to take it from, and number)
It is not a space-hogging bag item like some previous prepatch currencies! (hallelujah!)

For completionist collectors like myself, at the time of writing given the current prices from the official TWW-prepatch bluepost, you will need:
- 5 Residual Memories total for all tmog, pets, mounts and an heirloom ring
(or 5 Residual Memories for full item ID's on weapons)
PLEASE NOTE: Your actual amount needed will likely be much lower than this, as the same gear does also drop from the events and bosses themselves.

Also of note, it costs 0 Residual Memories (61k for fury warriors :P ) to fully gear a character with a full set of armour + weapon(s) + neck/ring/trinks, assuming it didn't have any drops. You'll need at least 1 Residual Memories on the character to drop (just stab literally any 1 memory mob in the zone) to transfer it from another character to that character.

Which is broken down into:
- Remembered Golden Gryphon Alliance only mount and Remembered Wind Rider Horde only mount - 0 Residual Memories (you get both from 1 purchase)
- Remembered Spawn Whelpling Pet - 0 Residual Memories
- Remembered Construct Construct Pet - 0 Residual Memories
- Remembered Riverpaw Gnoll Pet - 0 Residual Memories
- Lifeless Stone Ring Base of the Heirloom Ring - 5 Residual Memories combine this with essences obtained from each of the 3 event Essence of the Eastern Kingdoms, Essence of Kalimdor and Essence of Northrend to create Band of Radiant Echoes. Note that you get parts of each essence from doing the mini events (1per) and the main boss (5per), and you need 20 of them to make the essence. They're not guaranteed to drop :(
- 4 full armour set Transmogs (0 Residual Memories each)
- Full set of weapon Transmogs at cheapest- 0 Residual Memories (or 0 Residual Memories if you want the full set of item ID's, as they all share models with the same type)

Unfortunately to farm this you have to tag the mobs yourself party or raid tags wont give you the currency.

update 8/1/2024: After today's hotfix where memory rewards were buffed, the quests are now account-wide and daily instead of weekly. So you can only complete the 3 zone quests once per day for your account.

As of 7/30/2024, the weeklies are per character as opposed to account-wide. Also, Residual Memories are transferable between your characters.

Do each of the 3 weeklies on all your alts if you want to earn Residual Memories more quickly.

Collectors: don't bother spending Residual Memories until you have enough to buy ALL the remaining items you want. You'll get items as drops during the event, some of which are the same items sold by the vendor (edit: only at level 70. Most or all of the drops you get below level 70 are not sold by the vendor). This will save you some Residual Memories.

Best use for these after you have everything you want is buying and vendoring Dalaran Defender's Shawl for gold (~0.027 gold per memory).

Best method is to just park an alt at the vendor, funnel memories to them via currency transfer, load them up with shawls, then relog later to vendor after the refund window has passed.

Please see (and upvote) cokovich's comment below. Recruit's Reagent Bag is best buy for gold.

Residual Memories are indeed Warbound (aka Account-Bound)! It took me a couple days to figure out how this is even done: it's NOT done at the Bank, as I assumed, but in your Character sheet.

So how does one transfer Residual Memories between characters?

In order to transfer your Residual Memories to your current character from your other characters:

Open your Character sheet (usually keybound to "C")
Click the "Currency" tab
Hover over Residual Memories (you'll see on the left a campfire icon with a yellow arrow, and it will say "Warband Transferable")
Click the currency
Then click "Transfer" in the box that opens.

You may now transfer any amount of Residual Memories to your current character!
(You must be logged into the character on which you wish to accumulate the Residual Memories -- you cannot currently transfer currencies from your current character to another character.)

FYI: MANY other previously Soulbound currencies are now transferable!

These include:

Elemental Overflow (Dragonflight)
Paracausal Flakes (Dragonflight)
Timewarped Badge (Timewalking)
7th Legion Service Medal (Battle for Azeroth)
Seafarer's Dubloon (Battle for Azeroth)
Curious Coin (Legion)
Nethershard (Legion)
... and the main expansion resources of Dragonflight (Dragon Isles Supplies) and Battle for Azeroth (War Resources)

It's worth noting that for some reason, transferring War Resources across characters will cause a loss of a certain percentage of War Resources: my tooltip says 24% will be lost.

Also, not every expansion's special Supplies/Resources currency are transferrable: notably, Warlords of Draenor Garrison Resources, Legion Order Resources, and Shadowlands Reservoir Anima are not transferrable at this time.

I simply cannot put into words just how elated I am about this change; I can now purchase so many of the thing I've wanted to for many years but couldn't because my currencies were spread across a bunch of characters. The currencies which particularly excite me are Timewarped Badge, Seafarer's Dubloon, Curious Coin, and Nethershard!

The boss quest in each zone cannot be completed while in a Raid group. Leave raid for a second if you want credit.

I have a problem with this currency. I put in on my bag display when pre-patch was on - now I want to take it off from my bag and I cannot. I cannot add my third currency from TWW and I cannot find Residual Memories in my Currency tab. It doesn't show in any of the sub-tabs for currencies.

So these have been totally removed from the game now TWW has launched?

I'd bought a load of Defender's Hefty Satchel and put them in my warband bank to distribute amongst alts, and now TWW is live not only has all my currency been removed and the vendors disappeared, but so have those bags! Seems a bit harsh :-(

For anyone wondering how to remove the tracking in your bag go to the currency tab and scroll all the way down to the section that says "Unused" and it will be there for you to stop the tracking<3

Before you get all crazy and stop tracking this currency etc - just know that you can STILL buy the vendor items!

Pull out the LEGION Dalaran Hearthstone and go to the Chamber of the Guardian (middle area of Dalaran where the portal sends you DOWN to the portal rooms.
Vendor "Remembrancer Amuul" is still there and still has the items that you can STILL BUY with your Residual Memories - so go spend them ALL because keeping them is worthless.

HIS COORDS (in the back middle, lower area): 34, 83

...once you do all that jazz - NOW go untrack them into the 'unused' currency.
BAM!

Is it still possible to get these? I went to Dalaran and found the vendor with the items and the three portals, but there is no objective when I go through either of the portals. I only found 100% memories remaining on top of my screen when I went to Wyrmrest Temple, but that's about it.
