The herbs of Warlords of Draenor
Picked a Frostweed node today in SMV and a disturbed podling spawned. After I killed it, I was able to gather herbs from its corpse. I like this change a lot. It was nice for archaeology and I'm glad to see it with herbalism :)
Somehow related to the mage ability 'cone of cold'...
Frostweed is needed for alchemy work orders. If you are an alchemist/scribe, save the frostweed for your alchemy work orders, and mill other herbs for the pigment needed for inscription work orders.
Somehow a totally different thing from WotLK's Icethorn, despite having a nearly-identical icon.
My Herbalist is also my Scribe so starting out my Alchemist is only getting the Frostweed which grows in my Herb Garden. I am not getting enough to keep my work orders full so Until I start farming herbs, I settle for whatever I can do with the limited numbers. The AH prices are insane so I will probably start my herbalist very soon.
From personal experience on my gathering druid this herb is somewhat sparse throughout Frostfire and Shadowmoon, and unless you know where to look it can take a long time to get enough just for one alchemist. You also cannot allow yourself to grow frostweed in the garden, because that conflicts with trading post work orders (It's been a couple weeks now and I have never seen frostweed in demand for trading post work orders, so the garden is better off on orchids, arrowbloom, or flytraps). The best area to find frostweed, with some starflower mixed in, is starting in the north western part of Shadowmoon from the very first beach, south through the cursed forest and across the path to Talador, and further south through Veloss' spawn and all that rough terrain till you hit bloodthorn hill then loop back around to the edge of garrison and the beach again.
I just looted x10 Frostweed from Disturbed Podling located inside a cave in The Nightmarsh.
Considering the models look extremely similar, I would say that Frostweed is the precursor to Felweed in Outland. :)
This herb seems to be the most expensive one on The Maelstrom (EU). The average price is somewhere between 350 and 400 gold per 200.
As announced in a
Wowhead Blog Post
Mass Milling is coming in 6.2!
Each recipe will need to be learned separately and requires 20 of the base herb for activation of the spell.
I found a bunch just running around Frostfire Ridge near Throm'var 34 in about an hour. Not a bad area for lower levels.
Frostweed, frostweed, wherefor art thou frostweed. For us alch's this is a pain, but I did locate this map that was pretty helpful... gives you routes for Frostfire and Shadowmoon. If any of you find any better places, please post reply.
The best way to chill out.
The information provided here under the "Created By" tab is slightly incorrect.
x10 will result in
x1. The links are correct, but
is incorrectly labeled as "Broken Frostweed Stem" under the "Created By" tab.
