Invasion Stages

Stage 1: Defend an Invasion Point, like Kharanos in 丹莫罗 or the Crossroads in Northern Barrens.

Stage 2: Defeat the Demon Commander as well as two lieutenants.

Stage 3: Repel the Legion forces around the zone. You can open up your map to see where the enemies are. Progress is granted by killing mobs and saving friendly wounded NPCs.

Stage 4: Defeat a boss NPC at the Invasion Point. These bosses are quite challenging, with strong attacks like 烈焰裂隙 from volcanoes or 暗影飓风.

Demon Hunters can activate 幽灵视觉

Equip and activate the use effect from 萨格拉斯的诅咒视界, a drop in Black Temple.

Hunters can use 追踪恶魔

Do you get any damage buffs or something while being a Dreadlord? Because otherwise I just see it as something that will kill you quicker than the debuff does anyway.

Does anyone know if you can "learn" all of the armor sets on one toon? I see that they're BoA, but I only have plate and cloth lvl 100s and I'd like to collect the leather and mail sets while I can without having to waste time leveling up other toons just for this event (which would also take time away from doing the invasions in the first place).

Elemental shamans are stuck with fist weapons this expansion... and there are no unique fist weapons from the world event? Kinda sucks balls there. And I feel sorry for any hunters, that bow is horrid!

At least the mace and daggers look cool, and the axes are pretty sweet too. There is a sword or two I'll be collecting also... just a pity I won't be able to use them all.

Alliance getting to barrens is faster if you hearth to shrine, and then take the teleporter pad out front to Ratchet.

The small Legion chest for completing stage 2 yields 5 shards, and the large chest for completing the event: 10. Thus with the 10 for completing stage 3 you get only 25 shards per invasion.

However, the two named lieutenants during stage 2, as well as the mini-bosses (marked by skulls on the zone map) during stage 3 seem to yield 5-8 additional shards each when killed. Other objectives such as the invasion sites, and legion structures, do not seem to yield shards.

If you can quickly move around during stage three you will then see a total per invasion of over 50 shards.

I notice that there isn't any shields from the invasions. I find that weird as some of us have toons that wield shields but won't get a matching set one. Unless, I am mistaking and one exists?

I'm glad you have the info for the quickest way to get places (especially helpful for players returning for this after a hiatus!), but it looks like you only ever had a Goblin Engineer!

For (the massively superior) Gnomish Engineers, they have Ultrasafe Transporter: Gadgetzan, which takes them straight to Tanaris. It might also be useful for getting to Crossroads in Northern Barrens, but I'm not sure if the distance from Hyjal to Nothern Barrens might be shorter.

A couple of important notes regarding Invasions

You can do 2 invasions on every character every 4 hours. These 4 hours are a set time (not character specific) and can be seen on the map when hovering over the invasion icon.

Stage 2 lieutenants give you between 4 and 10 (perhaps between 6 and 10) Nethershards.
Stage 3 bosses (marked with skull icons on your map) are most profitable for everybody as they give Nethershards on tag.

^ All bosses mentioned above only need to be tagged once. A Doom tick from a Warlock is ENOUGH to get the highest or lowest (this is RNG) amount of Nethershards.

The same goes for the final boss.

As of right now, the Broken Shore quest line cannot be skipped. (atleast for the Horde).

There is 700 gear (which, unless already updated, I did not see in the guide initially) for every slot.

Only Glaives can be purchased.

Weapons exist and drop from the large (final stage) boss box. ~~Never seen it drop from the small one (stage 2) yet.~~ I just got double items + weapon in a small box: https://puu.sh/qwC94/0e30f92505.png
The drop rate for weapon upgrade crystals seem relatively high, I got 4 already.

You do not need to participate in Stage 1, it does not reward anything. (NOTE: Particularily useful if you're faction A and faction B has 10000000 people on the floor and you're on a PvP server)

IMPORTANT EDIT FOR FARMING: There are bosses NOT registered as skulls on the map, paritcularily near the portals. (not always) but a lot of the times. 1 being right outside of Gadgetzan which people skip a lot (don't, its quick kill before farming bosses).

Another IMPORTANT edit: You only need to be in the region to get box / stage completion credit.

You should definitely mention that the Darkspear Revolutionary quartermaster is back. you can buy the troll shoes and toys that were available in the northern barrens during the leadup to the siege of orgrimmar. as far as i can tell, hes only available during the instanced quest leading up to the hordes broken shore invasion, when you're polishing your armor dueling and such. she's right by the docks, near the stone guard on the mammoth.

Just wanted to add that a solid way for the Horde to reach Westfall is to take the zeppelin from Orgrimmar to Grom'gol in Stranglethorn. It's a 45-second flight from Grom'gol to Westfall.

The armor pieces that come from the invasions (Small Legion Chest and Large Legion Chest) are level 700. So your linked search isn't returning the proper results.

But be careful! You will apper in air above Dalaran crater.

There needs to be off hands and shields added to the gear for this event. I got a one handed sword on both my mage and my warlock but there are no off hands? Seems really strange.

anyone else notice how Blizz just convienently left out off hand items (no I don't mean off hand weapons, trolls.) I can get this amazing 725 weapon on my casters but my offhand is stuck as 650. I know what your sayin just continue doing the invasions until you get the two handed staff, however I have done close to 50 invasions (roughly 30 of which are on casters) and not a single time have I seen the two handed weapon drop.)

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but after you complete the Broken Shore scenario and alerting your faction leader, your sent on a quest to "open your map and locate an invasion". At that point, all Cata portals, regardless of whether you completed the quest or played during that time, are opened up. So don't let those mages leech your funds. Use your Vale hearth and Cata portals and bounce around the globe. Enjoy.

The Westfall Invasion seems to be broken at the moment. Guildie said he did it right before the Hillsbrad one spawned. Waited four hours for the Hillsbrad one to disappear, and then it reappeared and still no Westfall. Its annoying, as this is the only one I need for that Feat of Strength.

Apparently the RNG gods really want me to have warm, fel-touched mittens! The gauntlets have dropped for me in each of the first three invasions I've done so far. :)

And if you're doing an invasion in the other faction's town, don't linger: those guards stop being friendly once the Legion is repelled.

On WOW site was stated that sixteen weapons would be available from demonic invasions...but only 12 are on the loot table.

"Speaking of weapons, you’ll always want to open the chests you obtain from demon invasions, as they have a chance to drop one of 16 event-only weapons, such as Niskaran Morning Star or Staff of the Inquisition. At item level 700, these weapons might be more than a transmogrification collection item for you—they might be the perfect thing to pick up and swing at the face of the nearest demon!"

They should allow Demon Hunters to see the vendor that sells the items during the Broken Shore quest line. That way people like me, who only have Alliance toons are still able to obtain the items. We could just make a Horde DH and get the items that way. It gives an incentive for people who have only experienced the Alliance to make a Horde toon and not have to spend time leveling to 98 or higher to get some toys...but hey at least the Alliance got a shirt....that isn't even transmogable....yay...

I don't think the guide is complete without covering all the little hidden consumables that are in each area (like in hillsbrad you can loot "horde supplies" to get them and get spider potion from the table in tarren mill etc etc, there are different ones for each zone, beer kegs in dun morogh for example), that you can get npc guardians and there are vehicles you can drive. A lot of people may miss those tiny little cool things.

I was on my level 15 disc priest, riding around with a couple of 100 guildies for invasions (since the scaling makes us mostly equal), and it might be interesting to note that the scaling seems to work both ways in a sense. According to my level 100 guildie's skada, my 15 priest was putting out 150-200k dps. He had me solo one of the bosses in stage 3 just to see if I could, and it went down easy, whereas my 100 hunter got shredded by the same boss.

My 33 afflock was also putting out an average of 80k dps according to his skada. So lowbies need not be afraid to participate in the invasions, don't worry, you're actually contributing more than the level 100's!

Lootable consumables and buffs during demon invasions:

(@perculia has made an official Wowhead post incorporating this information and more stuff I missed.)

In addition to the 3 consumables purchasable from the invasion vendors, there are various consumables that can be looted in the invasion starting towns.

~~When you are at the carrying limit (max) for one of these items, trying to loot another will send it to your mailbox.~~ The mailbox trick no longer seems to work.

For the weapons that drop from invasions, the agility sword and the intellect staff have been deprecated. I spent several hours trying to get them before thinking to go to their individual entries in wowhead, and saw that they have been removed.

The Intellect Staff didn't make it, and wont be included in the pre-patch event.
it's possible this is true for the one-hand agility sword as well.

OK, if you are looking for the Fallen Crusader, that is described as being during Stage 6, you might not find him. He is wayyy back on the left during that stage. In fact, by the time I found him, I was popped into a cut scene and stage 7.

Good news, you can still ride back during stage 7 and get him (in this case, since you are riding back, the alter will be on your right). I'll try and add a screen shot of it to the main article...not sure if it will let me.

Staff of the Inquisition is marked as deprecated on wowhead, and after doing far too many invasions I'm almost positive it is not in the game. Hope this saves somebody some time!

Is it just me or are the Chests empty when your loot spec is Protection Paladin? I have an alliance Paladin, and a horde Paladin, and whenever I choose Protection as their loot spec the only thing in the Stage 2 and Stage 3 Chests are Nethershards.

This has to be a bug right?

For those who don't know. The Demon Hunter starter quest chain is considered to be going on while you would be doing "The Legion Returns" quest. So if you plan on doing the pre-launch event stuff I suggest doing it with a normal character 1st then do it as a Demon Hunter.

Actually the best way to do this would be to do it as alliance 1st then horde then demon hunter, as you get a fuller picture of whats going on.

Here's some useful information my friends and I have discovered, as well as found on other parts of wowhead, to go along with the guide here.

Alliance
Lenny "Fingers" McCoy at Stormwind Harbor sells Lucky Shirt and the flavor items Old Lucky Coin, Lucky Rat's Tooth, and Lucky Charm

The shirt is now Uncommon and BOE - so it can be sold to the horde I guess.... (but the horde vendors stuff is still bop)

There is a fourth hidden item requiring Stage 6, 7, or 8 of the Broken Shore for Alliance: Alaina's Bonnet
Pick up Charred Locket from the Ashes of a Fallen Crusader, located on an altar.

The alter is as 42,42 for anyone without co-ords, it's the alter that's immediatly to the right of the portal the alliance close. You just go over the hill at the foot of the ramp for the portal and run along the side of it and you'll drop right down. It's just a pile of ash.

Head to Eastvale Logging Camp and give the locket to Alaina Hearthsong inside a house at 85.5, 69.7.
Briefly leave and return to the house, and on the 2nd floor you can loot the Bonnet.

You can't just step out and back in. I found the fastest way to get her to move is to fly into redridge just enough for the zone to transition then fly back.

I know she's supposed to be dead on the bed upstairs, but I couldn't see her, I think she was glitched inside the bed. I thought maybe her kids were too, but I couldn't find anything with mouse over on their beds. Not sure where they are.

When the pre launch event starts, a quest will automatically pop up on your screen: The Legion Returns.

I also wanted to note here, if you level a toon to 98, you need to re-log for the quest to pop up onto your screen.

All weapons, including Glaive of the Fallen, can be found in Large Legion Chest; the weapons must be appropriate for your armor type and loot specialization.

I just got a weapon from the green crate you get on phase 2.

Also, on the note of crates: you can get more then one item per crate. This goes for both crates.

I've also been told by some friends that they have had the cloak drop from the chests, but I've yet to personally have it happen.

It seems you can also get the Felbat as well.

AND, items can now also be warforged.

What if I don't want a 1hand, I want a staff

Does it really matter? In two weeks we're going to begin our Artifact quest line. So these are pretty much just for fun / for looks. Something to carry us on while we piddle around until then.

While the Agility sword might not drop, there is a horde Broken shore reward that has the same skin. The same goes for the staff that doesn't drop.

Also on the note of broken shore event rewards, I've noticed that, if you complete the quest on a character, you automatically learn all the skins to all the weapons that your class can use. So even if you don't have all classes, don't worry you can still learn all the class weapon skins. Warriors can learn every skin for the quest rewards.

Where is the quest to go to Dalaran?

They are releasing the Event quest line in stages. The first stage is the Broken Shore, Meeting the Demon Hunters, and begin to fight the Invasions. The Second stage is supposed to begin on the 17th, which will be for Karazahn.

blizz, blizz, blizz....what are you doing concerning invasion drops? ive never seen a more backwards way of dong things...my outlaw rogue has gotten 3 wands, my spriest has gotten 4 maces and 3 swords, and my horde dh has gotten a wand....umm, wheres this staff that u say is a drop? bc ive never gotten it on at least 7 toons played in the invasions. i usually get something my class cant even use. and yes ive changed looting opts, but nope, still no common sense drops...come on blizz....

Tip: You can complete invasions on any character of any level. The demons automatically scale down to the appropriate level. For instance, if you are on a level 18 character, the demons will appear as level 18.

Yes, you still receive (and can wear) the high level gear from chests, but you cannot upgrade your weapons till level 98.

Does anyone know if there is a way to determine what Stage of the invasion is going on? Its preferable to get there in Stage 1 or 2, just so as not to miss the first loot box. There have been a couple of times when it was Stage 3 upon entering the zone.

I find it rather sad that they didn't make offhands. There are no 2h caster weapons and as for tanks, well they just need to get a shield somewhere else. It is something they keep doing, apparently they have no love for offhands since baleful didn't give offhands either.

Note to collectors regarding invasions transmog to collect. Here's the information you're looking for in this overload of information. Invasion related only.

-There is 4 types of ensemble.

You can either buy it or loot each pieces individually in the reward chests.

Cost 200*4 Nethershards.

Appearances to get : 32

-Event vendors are selling one cloak.
Appearance to get : 1

-Event chests contains weapons.

Upgrades (stage x) does not count as extra collectible, you just need 1 type to unlock it.

Blizzard doubled the amount of weapon to collect, since there is a max level, and a non max level version for each items. If you collect 1 max level type of a weapon, the tooltip will show the non max level type as non collected. Type "/console missingTransmogSourceInItemTooltips 1", and compare the tooltips to see that they're not (currently) considered the same items by the wardrobe.

You get them from all the reward chests.

2 items didn't made it live (making the collecting process slightly faster in a result).

The invasions are extremely easy for ranged classes, and a total mess for melee. For one thing, there are just too many things on screen - it's like the Ashran crossroads - and it will make visibility terrible and lag your system. Another is the presence of opposing faction casting AOE spells. Also the bosses hit quite hard and run all over the place - two things ranged doesn't have to worry about. Just sit on top of a building in the middle and pew pew. My ranged characters breeze through it, but my melee die multiple times esp. in the final battle - usually from opposing faction "friendly" fire.

Can anyone please confirm the following, since Im new to WoW and have already done some invasions, I would like to know if you can also get a weapon inside a chest when you haven't completed the armor set yet? I really only need one piece of the armor set and I could use an ilv700 weapon to go with it. So far, no luck yet for both unfortunately as I only get duplicates so far :( Also, the weapon can be upgraded but can the armor set ilv be upgraded too? Thanks a lot in advance to clear this up!

Why not add all the weapons to the vendor. There's some sweet models there, would like to have the agi dagger as a xmog on my spriest, the int 1h sword on a dk etc., but I don't have a rouge or a shammy. Rip

Found a captive nethershard vendor in Azshra at 30, 69 behind a tree in a camp of illidari during an invasion on my level 73 lock.Went back after the invasion and they were gone.

As far as I know the Demon Invasion Feat of Strength for completing all six is NOT account wide. I completed one on my newly made Demon Hunter, and the other 5 on my Hunter, no Feat of Strength. I did obviously get the first Feat of Strength for completing one, but not the one for all six.

Might also want to note that at the same time you can buy the toys outside of Orgrimmar, there's a cauldron just past the armor polisher from which you can get up to 9 加稠魔精, and this cauldron also disappears when you do the scenario.

Would anyone know if, or for how long Legion chests last after the expac launch, and if they will still scale to level? I was hoping to hang on to them for when a couple of my lower level characters get to a point where they would benefit from an armour boost in the near-ish, but not exactly foreseeable future.

Just by being in the zone, without even tagging mobs....you get the small chest and the legion chest. Also the shards for the stage 2 and stage 5 kills.

Having a slight issue with the Karazhan questline:

After leaving Karazhan and handing the book to Modera to complete "Hiding in the Stacks", the quest "City Under Siege" should pop up after (as per the guide), but does not on live. Any word on this? Checked today on 2 toons and still not switching for me.

It seems to be affecting most folks I ask on server but unsure if there's a fix.

Completing one invasion rewards Stand Against the Legion and all six rewards Defender of Azeroth: Legion Invasions. These are Feats of Strength; you only have a few weeks to get these achievements.

Regarding the secret vendors (toys):

I don't know if I experienced a glitch or something, but when I finished the Goblin starting and traveled to Orgrimmar I was able to see the pre-'Broken Shore' event and buy those toys from that vendor.

So if you originally missed out and don't have a character close to level 98 you can try leveling a Goblin.

The event actually disappeared when I went into Orgrimmar (or logged off?). So it appears to be a glitch when you come off the Goblin boat. So the question now is does this happen to everyone or was I just lucky?

What's the maximum item level of Warforged armor you can obtain? I thought it was 710 but today I got a 720 piece on my mage.

It has been confirmed by Muffinus on Twitter that the Dalaran questline currently in the pre-patch will remain available after Legion goes live on the 30th of August, by visiting Archivist Elysiana in BrokenIsles!Dalaran.

I'm guessing it'll work kind of like a flashback. It also clearly takes place after the events of the Broken Shore, timeline-wise, since there's dialogue that implies such (and you can currently only get the questline if you've completed the Broken Shore).

Currently, the Dalaran questline stops a little short, as the whole of it isn't live yet. The remainder of the questline will likely become available Tuesday/Wednesday next week.

I noticed something interesting with invasion but cant find any info anywhere about it, maybe someone here can help.

I have been doing invasions for my level 20 twinks to get the wrists, boots, gloves and belt, the rest is all looms. These invasion drops are better than any other gear available in game for lvl20. The thing is on most occasions i get item level 25 gear sometimes it is item level 25 warforged but the stats are the same so theres no difference but on very rare occasions i get item level 35 warforged gear and the stats are a little better, thing is i have only got item level 35 gear on two occasions after 100+ invasions and i cant tell why i get it. Is this random or am i missing something because id like to get them all equipped with this item level 35 warforged gear with better stats if i can.

I'm not seeing a proper loot table for armor that drops from the chests during the invasion. Does the leather Int chest piece only have 1 set of secondary stats or is it random? For example, can the chest piece receive Haste as a secondary stat as opposed to Mastery or Crit?

I was excited that invasions would boost the three toons that I didn't play during WoD. After all, I need all the toons I can get for Hallow's End (Still don't have the mount after 5 years).

At first, I was wondering if all 16 item slots can get equipped with armor from invasion boxes. After trying two toons for a day or two I was convinced that legs and wrists don't drop or come from the vendor. This prompted me to stupidly spend thousands on 700 crafted gear, which isn't any better than invasion gear according to the gear check site and addon AskMrRobot unless you boost it to 715 for several thousand gold. (AskMrRobot, by the way, does not corroborate with Icy-Veins site recommendations, so choose your poison). Don't give into the impatience of leveling and gearing your long-neglected toons by buying crafted 700 gear until you've just become exhausted of invasions. Trying a third toon, it seems armor for all slots drop from invasions with the exception of the gear you buy from the vendor at the invasion location. The vendor has two rings but probably only one is appropriate for your preferred spec.While you might as well grab both rings from the vendor, get your other spec specific 700 ring (i.e. for alliance, the 700 version of the Signet of Stormwind) by starting the broken shore quests from your home city. As for invasions, if you are crestfallen keep getting the same stuff over and over again, don't despair, keep trying and hold onto your money for enchants. It took me 22 invasions to get one toon a weapon, while I got another toon their weapon on their first invasion. RNG. THEN: When you do get gear, make sure that if you don't feel you need the gear for your main, CHECK to see if it's appropriate for your off-spec. I had to pay a little visit to item-restoration when I realized invasion gear I sold or disenchanted was perfect for my off-spec.

The XP you can gain in Legion invasions for your alts is pretty insane (in a great way!).
I took my level 91 druid up to 100 in a matter of hours (I did have heirlooms, but no rested XP).
Lots of people hate stage 1 of invasions, as there is no real rewards to be had compared to the other stages (no nethershards or boxes available) but this is not the case for anyone who is levelling. For sub-100 characters, stage 1 is a goldmine for XP - just tag every mob you can (I took moonfire for my feral druid for this very reason)! You get full XP credit even if someone else kills them. There are a LOT of mobs here that everyone else is trying to kill, looking to get onto stage 2.

Another tip is that you will level so quickly, try to decide at what point you want to cash out on your gear.
The boxes do not remember when you acquired them, they will adapt to the level you are when you open them.
When I got to level 95, I stopped opening boxes and kept them until level 100.
When I dinged 100 - I started opening the boxes and I was instantly almost completely 700 geared!

Just checking in advance: If you're the opposite faction of where the invasion site is, will the guards attack you? Say, if you're Alliance and go to Crossroads, will you be attacked by the guards while you're attacking the demons?

Anyone else think it's kind of BS that an agi/str DPS can completely gear every slot off these things (with the vendor items and ring/trinket from the quests to supplement the items in the chests) but a caster cannot?

Why do agi/str users get a 2h (or two of the same 1hs) but casters don't get a staff - only a 1h and no OH?

Considering that between level 90 - 100, you need to do two demon invasions to gain a level, would it be quicker to level up from 90-100 via demon invasions, or would it be quicker to just do multiple dungeons to reach level 100?

Didn't read this anywhere in the guide. You don't have to do the Broken Shore scenario on multiple classes to unlock all of the various Horde/Alliance themed weapon transmogs. The only Horde character that completed the scenario was my Warlock, but every Horde Vanguard weapon is shown as collected on my (Goblin) Warrior.

Legion has went live now and the demon invasions are gone along with all the other stuff there was in the pre-legion patch. Funny enough I still have my Nethershards on my characters, I wonder if they can be used on something else in Legion?
