More Corporate Sponsors Abandon the Overwatch League - IBM and Kellogg Company Pull Support

Two more corporate sponsors have removed their support from the Overwatch League in the wake of widespread allegations of sexual harassment and a
discrimination lawsuit brought forth by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing
against Activision Blizzard. We previously saw
T-Mobile and State Farm insurance reevaluating their partnerships
, but now
esports.gg has reported IBM and Kellogg's Cheez-It Grooves and Pringles Wavy
withdrawing their support as well. This leaves only three remaining sponsors on the
Overwatch League website
- Xfinity, Teamspeak, and Coca-Cola - although when asked if Coca-Cola would continue to sponsor the Overwatch League, a spokesperson's stated “We are working with our partners at Blizzard as we take a step back for a moment to revisit future plans and programs."
There are only three remaining Overwatch League corporate sponsors, although Coca-Cola may be reconsidering.
In reference to the Cheez-It and Pringles partnership programs, a Kellogg Company spokesperson
“We find these allegations troubling and inconsistent with our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. While Activision Blizzard has announced plans to address the challenging issues it faces, we will not be moving forward with any new programs this year, but will continue to review progress made against their plans.”
In two statements provided to
The Washington Post
, a spokesperson for State Farm said the insurance provider is “reevaluating our limited marketing relationship with the Overwatch League,” and the company has requested that “no advertisements run during the matches this weekend.”
A T-Mobile spokesperson
that they had “paused our sponsorship activities” with Activision Blizzard.
Similarly, a spokesperson for Coca-Cola told The Post that the company is “aware of the allegations surrounding Activision Blizzard” and "are working with our partners at Blizzard as we take a step back for a moment to revisit future plans and programs,” while closely monitoring the situation.
IBM does not appear to have any reported statements, although their ads have also been suspended and their logos no longer appear in support of the Overwatch League.
