I would assume the drop rate is much higher than it says here, because only enchanters can see this drop. All the mobs that have it but are killed by someone who is not an enchanter don't register as having it, so the drop rate here lowers.

PS I got it on my second kill.

Took 81 kills to get it to drop for me. The skirmishers make it difficult as they are more frequent then the geomancers. Overall, i spent a few hours camping for this. Do not give up hope!

Yay, I was lucky on this one. About 10 Geomancer kills.

Make sure to kill the Skirmishers as well, they are all on the same respawn percentage.

Killed about 300 ogres to get it - I'd guess about 4/5 skirmishers to clear the zone for the geomancers to spawn.

In the northern part of Bloodmaul Outpost (45,75 IIRC) is a strip of land with about 10-12 skirmishers and geomancers. The geomancer spawn rate appears to be about 1 in 8 or so, make sure you kill all of the ones in the strip. By the time you've cleared it, it should be starting to respawn - this area's also devoid of quest items, so you don't need to worry about too much interference.

Took me about 30 geomancer kills, and probably upwards of 300 skirmishers.

I must be cursed, I have now passed 500 Geomancers. That is 500 geomancers, not skirmishers included. still no drop.
Made a good bit of gold though =)
(I do get some flashbacks to a certain tower in wpl where I never had any luck either)

Yep no doubt about it. Unless you're blessed with luck, you'll be grinding here for hours. Been standing here for 4-5 hours straight, killed about 600-700 ogres, maybe more. No drops whatsoever worth mentioning.
And yes, i've found it that it's like 85% Skirmishers to 15% Geomancers here.

So, I started farming these one night and I killed about 100 or so geo's before I decided to turn in (roughly 3-4 hours of farming) and it didnt drop. Undetered I came back 2 days later lookin for Netherweave and hoping to farm for the enchant at the same time...So im flyin in and see a geo who just spawned putting up some ice armor, so I engage him and quickly kill him while thinking "jee, wouldnt it be absolutely hilarious if he, my first mob, dropped the recipe?" As you may have guessed, the recipe dropped and I was so happy and so loud, my mom came down to see if I was dying or something :P So, to all those still farming - keep at it...itll drop eventually.

Has something changed with the maintenance this week (April 2007)??
I have been grinding this enchant for weeks. I would have killed over 500 geomancers and 3 times as many skirmishers. I have nightmares about them. I am a holy priest who respecs shadow every weekend, and can kill them as either spec. I did find killing them along the side passage with no dogs the best technique.

I log on today and am told very sheepishly by a guildy that they got it '5th kill'. A small part of me dies.

I would have wasted weeks here....

I decide to give up and try a new enchant grind as obviously this is never meant to be. I head over to the sunfury researchers and kill a dozen and pick up the +30intel to weapon. Ok, not so bad now that the guildy got it on her 5th kill.

So after the khara raid I head over to geomancer hell and 2nd kill.....omg....can hardly believe the small box thats says looting this will bind it to you.....

So either the drop rates have been changed, or they only drop on Tuesdays in the second week of the month! Anyone else been grinding and reading this thread for solace and suddenly got one?

The message is: Never give up! :) so pleased I didn't now.

Not a very high drop rate...I thought these geomancers dropped +40 spell damage to weapon, and after about 10 hours of farming and no drop....I looked it up again, and it wasnt these guys...And i still didnt even get the +15 spell to bracers after like 10 hours

I used following tactic when farming these; ran the strip north of the outpost "upwards" - then as I got to the end, ran over the ravine and a little south to enter the strip heading "down" there. After clearing this one the ogres on the other side have just spawned. Run across the ravine again and repeat.

This is much like the tactics mentioned earlier, except I used both the strips, running back after clearing the eastern strip didn't give mobs enough time to spawn.

And yes, it's very painful farming. Haven't sold one of these enchants yet either, mats are just mad expensive, about 700g on my server. Will be somewhat reduced after patch though, but not enough imo.

edit: The enchant sells, endgame raiders will always go for this one.

It is easier to farm for this after you have done the Ogri'la quest where you get crowned the king of ogres. You are no longer considered hostile to the ogres and can ride around and pick off the geomancers

there're three ''strips'' of land where Geomancers can spawn. the one on the right is slightly longer than the other; has a nub which extends a few yards ''above'' the one on the left, with a small encampment with 3-4 mobs. there's also an enclosement where there're two towers, two buildings, and about 20 mobs; found south of the right side. geo's can be found inside the buildings, so be sure to check there, too. you should NOT go beyond where the shamans are, as they don't share the respawn point as the geos.

Took me about an hour to farm as 68 shadow priest. Couldn't AoE farm so it was really annoying, but the droprate doesn't seem too bad. Only killed around 20 geomancers or so. Many more skirmishers, naturally.

Spent 6 straight hours on this one, and came out empty handed. Will try again later. But, my advice would be to take a good friend with you. The added dps will help generate more geomancers. Since killing the skirmishers will in turn make more geomancers spawn, having someone else there with you would be a great help to down more skirmishers. Hope you have some patience. Goodluck.

Oh, and I really don't want to hear about how some of you got it on the second kill, just makes me feel bad :(

I also just got this enchant on my 2nd kill of a Bloodmaul Geomancer. I can confirm that this drop rate is probably very high for enchanters but appears low because these mobs are often killed while leveling and the enchant is not seen.

This is a painful camp, though after around 12 hours of camping (spread out over 3-4 hours per session), I managed to get one of the Geomancers to drop. I was solo, rather than in a group with my buddy, a priest, when it dropped (the first kill of the new session tonight). A couple of pointers that might help:

- Get into a clearing sequence, whereby you clear out the Bloodmaul Ravine (about 12 spawns, 6 spawns each side), and then AoE (if you're not a mage, bring one - it helps) the Bloodmaul Outpost. By the time you're done AoE'ing the outpost, the ravine will begin to respawn.

- Patrol early and patrol often. Before you engage in any clearings for this drop, make absolutely sure that you've killed all Geomancers. In addition to the 12-spawn in the Ravine, and the 18-spawn in the camp, there are 4 patrols (2 out of the Ravine towards Sylvanaar, 2 in the middle of the Ravine).

With a lot of patience and a regular routine, you will hopefully get a Geomancer to drop this enchant. Be warned, however, whereas it takes some people a few hours, or a few days, I spoke with some Enchanters who admitted it had taken them "a few weeks".

This is the day after patch 2.3:

I farmed this for about 20 min before the patch came out with no luck. Then today (the day after patch was released) I decided to try again for the hell of it before starting my Ogrilla dailies, and there were Geomancers EVERYWHERE. I killed about 10 of them and got this to drop. I dunno if the mob count has increased, or if the drop rate has been improved, or I'm just lucky.

Again, this is one of those random things. I killed 3 Geos while doing a quest and it dropped on the 3rd one. I wasn't really trying for it, but I didn't complain.

I guess just like any other low rate drop, don't give up hope if it's not dropping... it will.

Took me 7 kills to get mine. Doesn't sound like much but the geomancers are a fairly low spawn rate so I ended up having to sit around and clear the skirmishers for about 45 minutes. Not a bad camp compared to people talking about months, though.

I farmed this in about 3 hours. I felt like I wanted to claw my eyes out! Like most people said, the best strategy is to AoE and also to go down one side and back up the opposite side. By the time you're done with one side, the other side will be respawned. Kill all the ogres so that more Geomancers can respawn in their place.

It took me 45 min to farm this recipe. I found a nice long strip of the Skirmishers, directly below the bridge.. I ran from one end to the other killing them, then usually the Geomancers would spawn. Not really as bad as I was expecting.

If you have done the opening Ogri'la faction quests then the Geomancers and Skirmishers will be neutral to you. HOWEVER, after you kill a certain amount of them they will temporarily turn aggressive to you. I thought this was a bug till I talked to a GM. She said it was normal for them to turn hostile then show up as neutral another day. Your Ogri'la faction will not be changed.

I spent a good 2-3 months at the start of BC farming these guys and never had any luck getting the pattern to drop, must've killed 200-300. I stopped playing WoW for a couple of months, and on the first day back I was flying over Blades Edge and decided to try my luck by killing one of them, and of course it dropped off the first mob ;D

About 6 hours of pretty continuous grinding did it for me. As it happened, the same Geomancer that dropped it for me also dropped the Battlemaster enchant, which made me a pretty happy camper...

I did the north part of the west side of the gulch, and the east side all the way down to the town, with occasional trips into the north part of the town, where it's easy to avoid those annoying wolves.

And as others have noted--the ogres all drop a fair amount of netherweave. If you're a tailor/enchanter this is actually a pretty profitable grind.

For what its worth, spent like 2.5 hours grinding this out, looted 6 stacks of netherweave, 4 greens, vendor trash, and 19gold and no recipe. Went back later....like 12 hrs later and on first kill: it dropped. My suggestion is kill for awhile then come back and actually get it. gl.

Finally go this today, as a few previous posters have said, this one actually took me several weeks of sparse camping. The first 4-5 camp sessions, I stayed solely inside the camp, the 2 skirmishers posted at the entrance will always be skirmishers, as will the one that spawns at the far side of the camp where the 3 wolves spawn with him. The ones inside buildings, the one pat that moves from the 2nd and 1st floor of the large hut, and the pats from the towers all can spawn Geomancers as well.

I finally got my drop in the ravine today, 477 kills for my drop, and at least 16 hours spent camping. All in all, ugly drop rate for me, but the Netherweave was good, and I made over 100g in silver drops, not to mention the sporadic greens and occasional blue drops.

As was mentioned above, get into a circuit grind, even as a Spriest I was able to clear the camp completely out, make 2 laps around the ravine, and head back into the camp, never any downtime.

I spent a good ~3-4 hours farming these. At first I roamed the area outside the outpost, but found it to be quicker to actually go into the outpost for less running around. Yes, geomancers can spawn where *most* skirmishers spawn. Maybe one or two exceptions there. Brewmasters don't matter, but I was killing them anyway for netherweave.

I ended up getting 11 stacks of Netherweave before getting the formula to drop.

Thought it was worth mentioning that https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=22531#teaches-recipe is a much much cheaper option that gives +10 spell damage, and is available from Honor Hold/Thrallmar at friendly.

Something to think about, personally I don't think that 5 spell damage is worth ~500g in shards and primals, given the other options.

Here's my bid for the worst-case record. I killed 552 Geomancers and 936 others (total: 1488) since i started counting, and it finally dropped today.

I restarted and abandoned this farm many times since I started farming for it at level 70, ench 370+, and neutral with the ogres. Tried killing everything to get geos to spawn, and also tried just killing geos whenever i flew past, to no avail. Several times I swore off ever returning, after many long nites, and many bad experiences with kill stealers, both innocent and deliberate.

I got very superstitious over the 6-8 months of trying, and today decided i was going to try farming just after a (Greymane) server maintenance outage, in the chance that the recipe only spawns once a week or something. Today's kills: 21 Geos and 63 others before it dropped. I was alone the whole time, which helps, except for a warlock who buzzed through, obviously looking for live geomancers. My dark and hateful glare was enough to scare him off.

The one who dropped it for me was at the top of the slope up from the main entrance to the village, on the left (north) side (20m north of the central fire).

This recipe should be epic or legendary, not uncommon. I'm leaving now to do penance for all the dark thoughts i've had (and expletives i've uttered) about WoW, its developers, and players.

I am sure I have killed the blasted oger camp more than 100 times and killed geomancers over 100 of them...and the damn recipe ISN'T DROPPING! What can I do cause I am a bit sick of farming, got over 70 stacks of netherweave and crappy greens! -.-

I'm very sorry, and I know this may cause enmity... but I got the pattern in about 12 kills. Now, I'd quested in this area before and never gotten it, so the total is probably more like 40 kills, but only 12 while farming for the recipe last night. In addition, I got the Spellpower to Weapon enchant with only 9 dead Ba'shir Spell Thieves, and the Bracers - Fortification from the Nether-guys in only 18 kills... all on the same night. It was a good night.

It seems that there may have been a stealth buff to pattern drop rates in 2.4? I find it hard to believe that I got that lucky THREE TIMES in a row, in one night, in under 45 minutes.

"Dinged" 1500 Geomancers on my human rogue today, still no drop. Guess I'm getting returned for having it drop on my first kill on my horde mage. Can't believe these guys still see me as their Queen after the massacre I am putting them trough every day. But hey, at least I got 3 bank chars full of Netherweave and an insane amount of enchanting mats.

Farmed it for two days around 4 hours each. At the beginning of my third "session" late at the second day's night it dropped from my THIRD kill.

In conclusion, if you want this formula then get ready to get sweaty. It's really a though drop. BUT extremely rewarding when you finally get it ;D

Ok people, here's what happened to me today. I couldn't believe it.

I have 3 characters that are enchanters. One of them which is my main I farmed this formula for ages. from time to time whenever I have nothing to do, I just fly there and keep killing geomancers. I can't even count the kills but they're just so many. it was boring as hell. believe me it is so many kills on my main, I got tired. and it never ever dropped.

Today i was playing my alt. feral druid. I went over there for a gruul pug. and waiting for people to come. I said okay let me fly over there and Kill some on that alt. He's enchanter too. Believe it or not, It dropped for me in first kill. LOL I might change him to my main now for WotLK! HAHA ;p

Actually it is not that bad!

Skirmishers and Geomancers spawn at the same points in a ratio of about 4:1. As you kill the Geomancers preferentially I got a rate of about 25% Geomancers. Mine dropped after about 25 Geomancer kills, so about one hundred kills overall.

Under the bridge at the north end of the Bloodmaul Grounds is the perfect spot. No Brewmasters and only one wolf. By the time you kill them all there are repops. You will never get more than one at a time unless you have an unfortunate repop mid-battle. Even then two are easy enough as they have no special tricks. Even my sad holy priest found this easy.

Can I just say how sad it is killing these ogres. Maybe I'm the only one, but even when a computer-generated virtual being says things like:

"King <name>, me die now."
"King think... there really is... an Ogri'la?"
"Me honored... king kill me."

It makes me want to 1) Not kill those mobs and 2) Burst into tears.

If only Blizzard wanted to, they could up the ante by making the ogres not even attack you while you're killing them - just accept their fate and be honored their king/queen is killing them. I would probably avoid ever farming this recipe for fear of losing it and crying hysterically.

Note: The ogres only perform such emotes when said player is Neutral or higher with Ogri'la.

Farming this took me literally three days of about 10 hours each day, when i was about to give up i said ill do one more round of kills, and got it when fighting two Geo's and a Skirmish. I got three Boe blues and a bunch of greys, greens and netherweave. Thank god im done though...

Just got mine today. Took a total of 10 hours of grinding over three days. I just about wanted to smash my laptop into pieces towards the end of it.

One thing to note: Do not go killing the Bloodspire Shamans. At first glance they look like Geomancers. Easy way to tell... Geomancers have two heads, the Shamans have just the one. That and looking at the name in the unit frame.. /lol

Recently took up Enchanting to get me some nice ring enchants and hopefully a little added income through fee's and enchanting mats. Searched wowhead for recipies I could farm, that does not require any reputation with a faction, and this came up along with https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=22551 in Netherstorm. Read some comments, figured I would farm for days with my luck, so I stocked up on food and crap, and started hitting buttons in Netherstorm. Boom, 3rd mob, I was THRILLED! But then again, I read that this enchant would be the worst, so I once again prepared myself for many hours of farming. I mashed away, and look at that, the 3rd mob won again! Guess it's just one of those days, huh?:p

i only killed the geomancers ignoring the wolfs and other mobs (there seems to be 1 or 2 geomancers walking around any given time).

kill the geomancer and begin running around scouting both sides until you see the geomancer again (i had the feeling they spawned instant after killed one). i repeated that over and over again and it dropped just over 60min killing the geomancers.

This must have been the most horrible grind I've ever done in the game. It took me over 1200 geomancer kills to get it and over two months (with grinding sessions of about 2 to 3 hours). At one point I actually seriously considered writing a ticket to see if I didn't have an error in my character that made me appear not an enchanter.

Always kill the skirmishers as well - I had quite a few circles where there weren't any Geomancers around, only skirmishers.

It finally dropped - of course, just passing through when on my way to Gruul and from the first Geomancer I kill) - and made me happy.

Just be ready for a long and ardeous grind for this one, though the end result is worth it.

this is the worst recipe to grind out of all the BOP Enchanting recipes. If you are on a high pop server then be prepared to grind for weeks trying to get this. if you are on a low pop server then it will be easier. My suggestion is do a few clears and if there is no drop just go do something else for the day. I limited myself to one session of grinding there a day, each session lasting around 1 or 2 hours. I got this recipe on the fifth session.

Be prepared and pace yourself.

Finally dropped for me today. I am so relieved I have to post here, even though I have not much to add to what has already been said.

I camped my character in Bloodmaul Ravine and logged in 3 or 4 times a day just to clear one round of Geomancers. I even made a habit of doing a round over breakfast, how sad is that? I think I averaged 5 to 7 geomancers per round, so after a solid month I must easily have killed 300 of them.

When I finally decided to dedicate an entire night to grinding the geomancers and skirmishers, it dropped after 30 minutes.

I was so happy... until I discovered I didn't even have the mats to do this enchant on myself...

I'm relieved to know it can drop, but still, this is one of the most torturing grinds I have had to endure in 3 years of WoW. The problem with grinding low drop rate items, that as long as it doesn't drop, you haven't advanced anything. I'd take a reputation grind anytime over this.

FINALLY! took me 512 kills almost gave up was there for 3 weeks for 4-5 hours a day logged on today aoe downed the camp (i am a mage) bout 12 orgers and vitiliy dropped i was like man a poe world drop enchant dropped before it did i was like wtf! then about 10 geomancers later it dropped so all and all i got 2 rare enchants so it turned out better than i thought it would.

I've been grinding this item for about 2 days now in 6 hour sessions each. It just dropped for me after 12 hours and 33 minutes exactly.

In the mean time I obtained:

Pathfinder's Band & the Netherscale Breastplate recipe :)

i just farmed this formula late last night. i was probably lucky, as it only took me an hour--but i did take notice of the comments that said to kill the skirmishers. as i did my circuit, if i noticed a nice clump of skirmishers, i would be sure to aoe them so that by the next circuit when i came around they had a chance to respawn into geomancers.

For all of you who have been lucky i hope you die! well maybe that may be a bit harsh but this has to have been by far the worst enchant grind i have ever made. Yes kill the skirmishers and any alliance you see in the area, helps the frustration. I started counting kills but found it was easier to count the hours, only about 20 grinding this b%*&ch out, but at 366 enchanting with my raid set and my pvp set i figure hawking this one will take me to 375 before the next expansion. Gl to those who persue this damnable enchant, I got so woot! :P

Got mine today around 44,64. Tried to avoid Skirmishers and kill only Geomancers. Ended up killing about 14 Skirmishers and 10 Geos before it dropped. Hope everyone is as lucky.

Mine dropped after approximately 9 Geomancers. This means either
a) I am fortunate, or
b) The droprate was upped along with other old world recipes in recent patches.

I'd suggest giving it a try if you're a completionist, all I did was circle around Bloodmaul Outpost gunning down every single Skirmisher and Geomancer I saw (these two mobs share a spawn table, so get them both).

Killed like 4-5 mobs while i was leveling and this formula droped. I wasnt going to loot it until some of my guild mates told me how rare this formula is. :) I'm enchanter now

Just farmed this up, took about 4 cycles of killing the buildings/town, up the side with the zig zag ramp to alli town, and back down the other side. I'd guess somewhere between 20-30 geomancer kills. Not as much a guarantee as say the recipes in Karazhan, but seems like a safe bet they up'd the rate a little bit.

Well, I remember that I lvl'd 65 to 70 grinding these guys and 2 or 3x other occasions of 4-8x hours a day back in 2007-2008.

Decided to give it a shot again today. Probably killed 50x or so Geo's in about 45mins and to my disbelief it dropped. Maybe the 'bug' was fixed. Give it a shot again if you found it impossible in the past.

Strange thing happened to me while farming this.

I fly out to the area and all of the ogres and wolves are yellow/neutral to me. I farm for about 2 hours and never get the pattern. I exit the game and come back to find that the mobs are red/hostile to me now. I get the pattern on my 2nd kill.

Could be (and likely is) very coincidental, but strange indeed.

I'm sure this was in the patch notes somewhere and I missed it, but they appear to have dramatically upped the droprate for outland enchanting patterns. While sitting in LFR queue, I noticed that I was missing a bunch of older recipes from this toon I'd leveled in Wrath. In under 20 kills TOTAL (not even of each NPC), I got:

Formula: Enchant Weapon - Major Spellpower
Formula: Enchant Bracer - Spellpower
Formula: Enchant Cloak - Greater Shadow Resistance
Formula: Enchant Weapon - Major Intellect
and Formula: Enchant Bracer - Greater Dodge

Don't fear the farm, they're quick and painless now.

The drop rate is absolutely nuts! I've just passed the 2000 Skirmisher and 800 Geomancer mark, and still no drop. Talk about soul destroying grinding!

Its not as easy as it seems. First of all, the mobs are Gamble-pop mobs. The warrior Bloodmauls will spawn, you must kill them, it has a CHANCE to spawn the Geomancers... I found it to be something like 1 in 4 or 1 in 3 gamble pop. Took me over 24 hours of playing time, 5 BOE Blues, over 40 Greens, Over 50 stacks of netherweave, 2 and a half levels. I just ran in a huge circle in the whole area. MAKE SURE you are a enchanter, dont farm it for a guildie, because this is BIND ON PICKUP.

I picked this up after about 9 hours of total game-time farming. As the tips say below, the Geomancers share a spawn with the Skirmishers, so you need to kill both to increase your chance of seeing a Geomancer. Unfortunately, the Skirmishers spawn more frequently.

Ok so I decided to farm this, it took me roughly 40 geomancer kills and 4x that amount of skirmishers.

If its any interest I watched the mob spawn that dropped the enchant and it was the only geomancer i ever seen buff himself with some kind of armor, dont know if it has anything to do with the enchant but it was a coincidence either way.

Good luck farming this.

It took me about 3 sessions of like 1 hour each.
On the third session i was about to call it quits and saw a geomancer on my way back to the sylvanaar FP. So i killed it and got the recipe :)

Also a small tip: Get the ogrila prequests done (gruul's sons). This way you wont risk getting aggro of mobs you dont want to kill (brewmasters and wolves). Makes the farming less stressful.

Well, it wasn't the first time I had farmed these guys.. just the first time in a long time, and arguably the first time I had set out to get it before I left.

I'm gonna guess 1.5 hrs or so, enough to gather 35 bolts of netherweave, it dropped for me. I consider myself lucky, altho I did kill my fair share of geo's.

Well, after about 4 hours... 259 skirmishers, 89 geomancers, a buttload of greens, a couple of blues, mana pots, health pots, fangs and the occasional lvl 67/68 horde slain... the darn recipe dropped. Now I plan to charge 2000 gold per enchant... ok? ok!

We (the enchanters of the guild) were having a discussion about formulas back one night. One was bragging about how he had gotten his Bracer - Spellpower formula in only 2 hours. Everybody was gz'ing him... I thought: how hard can it be? I made a bet with them on 100g that I would get the recipe in less than 2 hours.

Now the funny part. I got there, saw a few geomancers, killed them, but no luck. Killed some skirmishers, then saw a Geomancer in front. BOOM! Formula: Enchant Bracer - Spellpower =)) 5th Geomancer.

This one was a bit tricky to farm due to the geomancers sharing the spawns with the skirmishers (the brewmasters can be left alone). Basically started at the top end of the bloodmaul ravine, clearing geomancers then skirmishers (unless there were others questing in the area, in which case I left the skirmishers for them) and finished up down at the camp (which had the added problem of wolves). Did this yesterday and today in bits until it dropped on the way down to the camp this afternoon.

Mats are insane for it though, I'll probably use +12 int until I get some top-end raiding bracers and fancy a bit more power.

Imagin you farming Ogre Warbeads for your T0,5 set.... Mulipliy that with 200 and you know the feeling of farming this enchant... honestly I would say it isn't even worth it... but you may be lucky so why not give it a go... 250 geomancers and still no enchant...

I feel like farming a rare spawn in FFXI with 30 players waiting to ninja the kill that I make spawm by killing trash around for hours. Geomancers arnt always spawning in place of a Geo kill. It "often" happen that the entire spawn area are Skirmisher. So you must travel and kill all trash so "maybe" a Geomancer will pop. Then you have the high drop rate that can even kill a sweatfarmer. Even worse on a pvp server with a ratio of 5 hordes / 3 alliances per mob in the same area, and I'm talkigng about night hours, imagine in day hours. Frankly I stopped counting them after 5 months of farming. I even got a Formula: Enchant Shield - Resistance, talk about a crappy drop rate. The only real thing that dropped lately while farming for this enchant is my interest in WoW...

Edited 15/11/2007: Finally got it after 4 hours of pewpewdin powar(thanks to the bonus from healing converted in spell power, farming with and Spellsurge helped). This patern should be epic. My heart stopped beating for 1 sec each time a Geomancer dropped a green, that got d/e as soon as fight ended. Heart stopped 3 sec when a Geomancer dropped . Good I didnt had this one. I have enough Netherweave Cloth to wrap Ironforge with a ribbon and enough to get drunk to death the King.

I've been killing about 400 Geomancers (on Scarshield) and maybe 500 skirmishers and today when I'd already given up I was passing by the area and went in to causually kill some geomancers and the friggin' enchant drops on the third kill! I flipped and went like Homer: Woohoo! But, now I wonder; was it worth it? :P

Been farming this recipe for a whole weekend with pew pew specc... and still no drop... prob killed 1k ogres (350 geomancers). and thats only after I got Mobinfo so I record how many I kill. If u wanna get this one... group with some randoms that just want xp :D.

3hrs and got mine finally. Best way i found to farm it was just run up and down one of the sides in Bloodmaul outpost. The geomancers drop it but kill everything so that geos pop more often. Was easy for me since not alot of people farming stuff yet. But anyways PM underversed (fade to black)on khadgar, if intrested in enchant :D

I've spent around 40 hours farming for this enchant, and it simply won't drop. I cleared all the ogres so that there's more of a chance of the Geo's spawning, but I'm still getting no where. This enchant still drops from these mobs, right? Is there anything special I need to do?

My Mage finnaly got this to drop off of a geomancer after about 350 Kills.. It is a very hard drop to get, and took a lot of time.. If you are farming it, keep going, it will drop, dont give up.. Make sure to kill everything to get geo's to spawn.

Mine droped in the town, to the left side as entering from the gate, off a Level 65 Bloodmaul Geomancer...

I have been trying to farm this 3 days with no luck.

I clear the entire camp, end up having fight every wolf along the way, and maybe 2 Geomancers spawn. I am considering giving up, killing 10 Skirmishers and 3-4 Wolves just to spawn 2 Geomancers is rediculous.
Not to mention you have to compete for spawns.

Maybe I will go back if I can get someone to come help.

Tonight I was in Blades Edge questing, I saw a Geomancer on my way past the area and killed it, got the formula. Talk about dumb luck.

The person below that described the grind for this enchant as "soul-crushing" could not have chosen better words. It is...the worst. This makes 45M Baron in all greens or Black Morass with a shadow priest healing look like child's play.

The primary reason for this post is because the majority of folks having problems finding this have made a post here QQ'n and then found it the next day on the first kill. Hopefully, I'll be making an edit saying the same thing tomorrow.

A very interesting thing is that, since 2.1 and the introduction of Ogri'la reputation, once you reach a certain level with them (I am honored and just figured out, but this might be at Friendly already, who knows), all Bloodmaul Ogres, wolves and bosses (e.g. Gurn Grubnosh) become Neutral (i.e. "yellow") and will never agro you unless you steal their Brutebane Brew from their kegs or attack their fellows around them.

This facilitates the farming much : don't need to kill Brewmasters or wolves, as they aren't placeholders for Geomancers. Plus, you can go afk whenever you want, you are totally safe.

So my advise : get a cool group, do the Ogri'la pre-quests given by Mogdorg and a few daily quests to get some rep, and then you're cool with the farming of this enchant recipe :)

Oh yeah and I forgot : killing them doesn't affect your reputation with Ogri'la :)

BTW, got mine on 41th Geomancer :)

11 stacks of netherweave, several grey items, a few green items, and countless hours of aggravating grinding later... it finally drops for me... I kept telling myself, "Okay, this will be the last time around..." I got ready to hearth and I saw another geomancer and figured what the hell.. killed it and it dropped.. Woke me up!

I can do now do this on alliance Korialstrasz... Whisper Ziluu. :)

Now to grind for the +40 spell damage to weapon enchant... *shudders*

Then today, after getting lucky and getting the +40 spell power enchant on my 7th mob, I decided to farm these Geomancers (and Skirmishers to make more Geomancers spawn) a bit more. I farmed for this with my brother, when it finally dropped only he was able to roll as I'm not an enchanter so chances are that this cannot drop when no enchanter is eligable to loot and that non enchanters don't even see it on FFA (this is _not_ confirmed).

When you go to grind the enchant, do the quests that the troll buried up to his neck gives you. Its worth about 80 gold at level 70, which ain't bad for a few side quests while grinding. And there is another quest from a dropped item you might find, too. All simple stuff you shouldn't pass up.

Also does not help that the skirmishers have the ability to kick and interrupt your spells for 6 seconds. Being an affliction lock though, I guess I have it easy...I can throw 3 instant cast dots and pull as many as I want, since siphon life ticks for more than what they hit for.

Dropped for me yesterday while doing the quest to kill 30 ogres, on about the 9th kill. Unfortunately only 337 skill atm so i have to wait awhile before i can use it!

Well, I farmed some hours, total 82 dead geomancers.. Drop of this was a bit strange. 2 geomancers spawned exactly same time to same spot just front of me. Gave them both as present a shadow word:pain, killed and other dropped formula, other was "too far to loot".. So just left it there rot.

I guess i am just lucky but I got it on my 5th geomancer kill a few minutes into farming. Not too many geomancers around but kill the skirmishers too, as geomancers can respawn in their place.

I spent about two hours grindin this for two days. It dropped at the second day of grinding for me. I probably killed about 60-80 of them before it dropped.

Decided to grind for this enchant tonight and got it in 1 hour.
If you are neutral with Ogri'la its much easier, since you can avoid all the wolfes.
However the annoying part is that you need to kill of the other ogres aswell, to get Bloodmaul Geomancer's to spawn. A tip is to grind in late nights or early mornings, since this is a questing zone and the ogres are part of quests.
Asteroid on Kazzak (alli) can make the enchant.

Got mine this morning. Went to the Bloodmaul Camp and when I got there I noticed something odd. Every single mob in there was a geomancer. Very strange if you are used to farming this pattern. Well anyways, I decided to kill them all and the first mob I downed dropped the pattern. Some poor fool is gonna see the entire camp full of geomancers and prolly come up empty handed in regards to this pattern. Good luck guys. By the way, I farmed it for awhile, it was NOT a fast drop. 200 or so mobs over about 4-6 days.

72 Kills over 2 days ( once I started keeping track ) to get this. THat time does not include the 20-30 hours voer the last week I spent farming this. Glad its done, easily the toughest, non-instance drop BoP pattern to farm.

If you're trying to get all the BoP Outlands recipes (non-dungeon), I would definitely save this for last. As everyone said, it's difficult to grind this because there's always someone around; for quests (about 2-3 quests in the same area) and the fellow farmers.

After 193 Geomancers, I finally got mine! Also 339 Skirmishers, 27 Brewmasters, 64 Dire Wolf. Unless you're a skinner as well, I'd leave those fangs on the wolf, beers on the brewmaster to slow down their spawn... which makes it a little easier.

Again, I got bored so I decided to farm this, after putting it off for about 6 months. I've killed 11 Bloodmaul Geomancers, according to MobInfo2. I guess I got relatively lucky.

This enchant is available from Sfluack, Kael'thas-Horde.

I killed no more than 10 before I got mine. I guess that makes up for the time spent on getting the Enchant Weapon - Major Spellpower.

Finally got mine. The Geomancers share spawn points with the Bloodmaul Skirmishers, so you have to kill all the Skirmishers you see, as well (you can skip the Brewmasters, though). I killed a total of 247 Geomancers, 909 Skirmishers, and 22 Brewmasters (they get in the way sometimes).

I've done a few grinds in my time, but this one was more soul-crushing than most. The mobs are boring and easy to kill and you have to put up with cherry-picking farmers from time to time that completely ruin the spawn proportions. After getting it, I can say I would rather *fish* for an enchant.

I feel sorry for all you people who know exactly how many geomancers you killed to get this. For me, I lost track pretty quickly. It was alot tho. Enough to get every gray vendor trash item and 2 Super Mana Pots which all have supposedly lower drop rate. It did eventually drop, tho. I eventually decided the best way to do it is to kill all the skirmishers and geomancers on the right side from Bladespire Hold to Bloodmaul Hold, then double back and pick up the spawns. I stuck to the right side since you don't have to worry about the wolves over there. Don't do it with competition either, as they will most likely cherry pick the geomancer spawns you are trying to get. Good luck. It's a frustrating enchant to farm for sure, especially considering it isn't that popular of an enchant due to the high cost of mats for such a small bonus.

I spent about 2 hours on these guys with no drop. Then I came back here and noticed I'm 6 points shy of the skill needed to learn it anyway. I don't know if that's a factor in getting the drop or not, but I decided not to take any chances.
I ran up to netherstorm and got the int to weapon in 2 kills, now I'm going after the defense to bracers - 225 of nullifiers, 50 researchers and 4 jailors, still no drop. *sigh*

I was hoping at least that if I could get the two I do have the skill for, it might at least give me more to market to get the skill up before going back to the other one. So far all I'm getting is lots of netherweave, a few greens and a stiff neck.

One of the most annoying things about this grind is that the Geomancers have no exclusive spawn points, but instead share them with the Skirmishers (Brewmasters have their own spawns). It seemed that Skirmishers spawned about 70% of the time and the Geomancers the other 30%.

Spent 6 hours in one sitting but no luck, then got it in about an hour later that day.

590 Skirmishers
249 Geomancers

Guess that was payback for getting the Major Spellpower to weapon in 7 kills.

Up to 6.5 hours of grinding for this one. Over 500 netherweave, pushing 200g in junk drops and disenchanted garbage... no enchant.

I tell ya, the Brewmasters scattered around have gotta be a subtle hint from Blizzard - "Don't try this grind sober!"

4 hours clearing the whole camp and no drop yet.

Those that got it in the first few kills got lucky.

At least I have a friend that will use a couple of the green drops. I am a tailor and now I have enough netherweave to make another robe for skillup attempt.

Drop rate on these BOP really should be set to include any of the mobs that spawn in the same place (i.e. skirmishers). The booze from the brewmasters should also be consumable.

Complete the quest chain to be the King of the ogres. This will make you neutral with all ogres and wont have any adds while grinding.

Ok this has to be the worst thing I have had to do in this game so far...I dont have exact numbers like some of the others but it took me 4 or 5 days of grinding this area at about 4hrs a day before it dropped for me.

Since the Geomancers share spawnpoints with the Skirmishers you have to clear those out before you even get a chance at the Geomancers...and if someone else is out there farming it they can come behind you and tag them after you did the work of clearing the Skirmishers in the first place, its really frustrating.

Good luck to anyone who trys to farm this, and to those that got it in the first few mobs, you are one lucky bastard.

i FINIALLY got my formula after killing
426 skirmishers
125 geomancers

after 3 days of farming for it...drop rates suck terribly but it WILL drop, eventually.

got 10 greens, two blues (one jack o lantern bag), and a heap of netherweave.

this formula is a prime example why enchanting deserves tips..with or without your own mats.

i'd like 10 hours of my life back.

Hey all,

Just have a look at this :

It needs 4xGreater Plannar + 4xPrimal Life
Adds +10 Spell Power & +30 Healing (after 2.3)

The cost of this in my server is approx. 70-80 g max while buying the mats for the Spellpower cost around 250-300 g. Not to mention the hours that some1 has to spend farming, hoping for the Formula to drop.....

I now wonder a bit, if it's still worths to keep farming for the Spellpower Enchant, only in order to add a +5 spell power....:-()
I am fully aware that most of the times any additional +spell dmg is important and more than welcom but on the contrary, this alternative can be considered as a much more convenient and affordable way of enhancing your bracers until you finally get the drop.

I got this after a few (about 3) hours of grinding ogres. I probably earned 100g an hour in drops (including a rare design for jewel crafters). You'll get tons of netherweave cloth while you do this, so make sure you have lots of bag space.

If you are going to do this, I recommend doing the Son's of Gruul quests so that you are neutral with the ogres. It makes the grind much easier and provides you with some protection against gankers. I had a level 69 hunter come after me, so all I did was suck him into a group of ogres and let him aggro them. Very amusing. :)

Also, this is a fairly mindless grind, so do it while watching a footbal game or something.

Ok.. This grind can actually be fairly painless. Listen up and I'll give you the key.

The secret is to find yourself a 10-11 year old son (in my case) or a little brother/sister neighbor kid etc...

I dropped my 70 Lock into BEM about 7AM server time and told my son "Run around and kill as manny Geomancers and Skirmashers as you can. Kill them all. And when they come back, kill them again. Kill them until you find the Enchant Bracer - Spellpower formula. Keep all magic items and netherweave you loot, but anything else you find, you can mail to your own 10-11th level character to sell."

He was excited to play my powerful character, and was excited at making trips to the mailbox to send off mounds of loot that he could then sell and make is low-level character rich :). In the meantime... I went to work... about 9AM server time my son calls me and says "I FOUND IT!"

I also got a stack of greens, boatload of netherweave, a couple blues and even got the rare spawn ogre who dropped a really nice BOE blue pair of gloves... And you know what? It didn't seem like work at all! :D

So... go get yourself a 10-11yr old lackey, it makes grinds go by MUCH faster!

Hi all..

I got this bloody formula today after a few months of farming and after a few weeks of REALLY HARD farming (a couple of hours a day). I killed hundreds of Geomancers, earned fortune on cloth I sold and what I can say it's madness! It's really a bad joke from Blizzard. I think it should be fixed - the drop rate I mean...

And it can't be bought anywhere which I'm just unable to understand.....

I'm starting to believe the enchant doesn't really exist... I've so far spent 17 hours farming for this, killing consistenly along the way of all ogres I see to that they will respawn here and there. I've made 500+ gold in cloth and various enchanting mats I sold. I officially hate this enchant.

**Edit: Finally got it. I spent hours on this grind, keeping track of the time by how often I had to rebuff myself. 17 day grind at min. 3 hours each. The last grind, it dropped after an hour and a half. Now to battle the gold farmers for primal fires and water XD

Well, according to binomial probability, if you want a 95% chance of getting at least ONE drop at a 0.3% drop rate, you have to kill 997 of the Geomancers.

Hey all-long time reader, first time poster. (haha)
Anyways, I decided to farm this today.(march 3, 2008, patch 2.3) I hunkered down after reading everyone's post, thinking well, im in it for the long haul. (300-400 kills) There were not many geomancers. I came across 2 pathing outside of where the skirmishers and the named that yells is. There were also maybe 3 inside this area. I made approximately, 3-4 rounds. After about 20 kills, this recipe dropped. Now, I really hate people who post- got it after 3 kills!, bought it for 10g at the ah! Because most of the time they are liars. I guess I was extremely lucky. The geomancer spawn rate is ridcoulous, you have to kill everything to get them to spawn, and then you only get to kill 1 for every 10 skirmishers it seems. (still took me at least an hour) Good luck to your future farmers, I hope you get as lucky as I did!

took 3 hours killing, not too long of a down time. can't estimate how many i have killed- but killed them fast (3 hits or less) with at least kara geared. i followed what most of everyone who was posting to kill skirmishers for the geomancers to pop. mostly found that the skirmishers across from the bloodmaul base had more of a geomancer spawn rate (killed in a clockwise motion)... from what i gathered in my farming. difficult and irritating to those who've farmed longer. best advice, get a friend to help clear all the skirmishers.. :) good luck

To get Spellpower you must: Grind Bloodmaul Geomancers with a 0.3% drop rate.

In my opinion, sacrificing 5 spell damage is worth it if I dont have to put in the hours upon hours of grinding ogres, primals and prismatics just for 5 spell damage.

I farmed off and on for like 5 days but only for an hour at a time. You need to kill Geomancers then kill others so that more Geomancers spawn, since they share spawn points. Also check the ramp coming into the canyon from Sylvanaar. There's usually a couple walking up and down the walkway.

Mooncalled has a good point about how easier to get and cheaper to cast the healing enchant is in oppose to the spell damage enchant even though the difference in spell damage is quite little, and the healing one has +30 healing in addition. By the way, while I don't mind healers getting an easier way to grind gold, I kinda think that the additional spell damage on healing items (or enchants) is a bit over the top, I mean, some healer items are even superior for casters.

Anyway, I am gonna want the +5 spell damage from this enchant. Good thing I'm not an enchanter myself, I'll just get my enchants from people who have already done the grinding.

25 kills to get this. It is very annoying, as there aren't many geomancers around. It is much easier to do after the ogres are all neutral to you, but any engaged near another ogre will agro them both. Still, easy at 70.

I spent hrs looking for this and finally gave up..a few days later I went back killed 1 ogre and there it was...I was mad I had spent all that time b4 but thrilled I had finally got it. So Its possible to get it in 1 kill...just rare I suppose!

In TBC (Classic) I have been farming this pattern for over 6 hours now. 200 kills now at time of posting and damn thing still hasnt dropped. 600+ cloth and over 100g in junk. Random boes and still no pattern. Im beginning to get flustered!

Took me about 50+ kills to get Formula: Enchant Bracer - Spellpower. Bear in mind that these Geomancers also share the same spawn with Wolves, skirmishers and brewmasters. I got lucky and had quite a few people that was killing the skirmishers for quests so I could just run around and kill the Geomancers as they popped. I did miss a few due to tag - but this would have taken much longer if i had to kill everything myself. Good luck farming guys!

What a miserable grind. I started by killing all the Geomancers that I saw. Then I cleared out the Skirmishers. Rinse and repeat for a whole week.

Killed about 350 Geomancer and almost 500 Skirmishers till it dropped. So it was very rough to farm.

I used two methods of farming:
1. when I had not much time and there were a lot of people questing I just fly around and killed the geomancer. Then I was 10 mins afk and repeated it. Because of the questing people there were always enough Geomancer respawning.

2. When I was alone I had to kill Skirmishers too. So I killed all mobs in the Fortress. Respawn time is quite good and the density of them is there the best. But I always checked the surrounding time to time.

Dont see alot of comments from TBC classic, so thought i'd post one.
looking at all the comments, i wasnt sure i would bother to go here on my prot pala, but i gave it a shot.
I found my spot at the compund at 46.75 and when i got there, there was non geomancers. so i split all the mobs in two pulls, and cleared it.
i did this two times, and a few geomancers started to spawn.
i gathered some skirmishers and pulled them to a solo geomancers, and killed them that way
i dont know if i was lucky, or they increased the droprate in tbc classic, but i was under 10 geomancer kills when the pattern dropped
did this around 8pm, not much competition, only a few players doing their quests

So i've been trying to get this formula for hours now with no luck.

I made a macro to target the Geomancers and mark them up, especially useful for the ones hiding inside the huts.
But also makes it easier to spot any Geomancers anywhere when you're not 100% alert.

Came to say that if you're thinking of giving up......don't.

I literally was about to give up after days of farming, at least an hour or two per day and finally just got this to drop about 20 mins ago.

Took me 190 Geomancer kills, 350+ skirmishers.
