Took me 12 kills, guess I was pretty lucky.
Respawn timer is somewhat 4-5 mins.
They are grouped in 2x 3 spawns in the north and middle region of the Staging Grounds.

I disagree that most tanks will choose +sta. Take a look at the reagent costs of +12 sta and +12 def.

Farmed for 3 hours, killed about 160 or more of them and with a Mage killing what she could find overhead, lots of people around doing the quest almost all the time so very difficult to farm for.

Need alot of patience, I gave up in the end lol made 100g profit though and alot of enchanting/tailor mats =)

Since you can kill all six of the Researchers well before they respawn, I flew up the hill and farmed a few Voidshriekers (for the Shadow Resist formula) rather than just sitting around. Of course, Shadow Resist dropped pretty quickly, but I'm closing in on 300 Researcher kills with no drop...

Got very very lucky just now and had it drop on my first kill, off a Ethereum Nullifier.
It's an ideal enchant for resist gear for tanks, my main is an MT in a raid guild and I created the Flamebane Bracers using Blacksmithing > mail to my enchanting alt > enchant > mail back to the warrior.
Total cost = 0.

The reason why tanks would want this enchant done is because a lot of the resist items have 0 defense rating or you lose it by using general neck items with stamina + resistance so you need to make this up elsewhere to be at 490 defense.

Just got this drop off of the Nullifiers. I followed a route begining just south of the Ethereum Staging Grounds and working clockwise around Manaforge Ultris.

The Nullifiers seem to share (at least some) spawn points with the Avengers. From what I can tell, the spawn chance is around 50/50. There doesn't seem to be any need to clear the Avengers to open up spawn opportunities for Nullifiers--there are more than enough Nullifiers IMO. (In fact, I think I may have noticed a couple of Avengers switching over to Nullifiers, but I've been up for 20 hours, so ...)

On the topic 12 defense rating vs. 12 stamina on tanking bracers:

Any educated tank knows that, in terms of item points, 1.5 stamina = 1 defense rating. Do the math. (There's actually no more math to be done, but I just really, really wanted to say that.)

The Nullifiers share spawn locations with Ethereum Avengers and Ethereum Jailors, so if you are the only one there you are going to have to kill all the mobs in order to get a Nullifier to spawn. Luckily, the enchant has also been confirmed to drop off Ethereum Jailors, though they are rare spawns.

I just farmed this. It took about 45 minutes for me, about 35 Nullifier kills. I simply circled around the manaforge 3-4 times and killed a Nullifier every time I saw one. Best concentration of Nullifiers seemed to be on the SW side of the forge, near the mine entrance.

Best way to go about getting this to drop is to first, circle around and keep killing the Nullifiers until they stop spawning. Then pick a good spot with a lot of Avengers around and keep killing them to get Nullifiers to spawn. If you have farmed for the "Formula: Enchant Bracer - Spellpower" then you know how it's done.

Avengers are the placeholders for the Nullifiers.
I recommend 57,50 on the Voidwind Plateau.

Has anyone farmed this since after 2.3?Because I have been on the nullifiers for a good hour,killed 3 jailors that spawned,more than 150 nullifiers,had 2 blue boe drops but no recipe -.-
Maybe they messed it up and changed it back to the Researchers again?

And since only enchanters can see the drop (and pick it up), make sure the enchanter is there when you're farming it. I wasted a good couple of hours trying to farm this recipe on a character that wasn't an enchanter (better farmer)... I finally brought the enchanter along and it dropped within 45 minutes, only to disconnect on the mob that dropped it (how I know only enchanters can pick the recipe up, the other guy there couldn't). Luckily, I still had loot rights when reconnecting.

Dropped for me in about 2 hours farming these guys with my protection paladin.
Since they are all melee-based mobs it's easy enough for a protection pala to pull a whole group without having to worry about casters.
Got about 5 stacks of Netherweave cloth untill the enchant finally dropped.

My technique for this was to start in the southwest corner of the island and walk counter-clockwise, killing every Nullifier I came across. When necessary I killed an Avenger to get to the next Nullifier.

They Avengers and Nullifiers share spawn points and spawn in a 50/50 ratio so eventually, if you kill nothing but Nullifiers, you will run out of targets. But there are a lot of them so it will take a long time.

When I got to the Consortium Camp I vendored my junk, flew to the prison and used up any Ethereum Prison Keys, handed in ID tags. Then started all over again.

If you see an Ethereum Jailor in your stroll, kill him too. Always drops an Ethereum Prison Key.

Two circuits so far and no drop but it isn't too boring and the keys offer some rep from the consortium or whchever friendly prisoner you release.

This is a pretty decent, way to get some quick gold, and/or help a friend or yourself level Tailoring past the BC stages :P

Looted from a Ethereum Nullifier Jan 10, 2009.

About 2 hours of grinding for it, at 80 lvl cap, was still hard to get even though I was 1 shotting all mobs regardless of the type. (only did that to ensure respawn time did not leave me waiting). Also, killing all types ensures the mobs that do respawn were not of all one type after killing just one kind for a while. No compitition for mobs of course, everyone is in northrend these days.

I let my pet solo as many of them as possible knowing I wouldn't get loot. The goal was to clear the area as many times as possible and hope that Nullifiers would respawn on their spots.

The Basilisks got in the way so rather than skirt around them, I just beelined for the next mob, aggroing these guys.

I would gather up 1-5 of them at a time and just Unholy AOE them all. I would have gathered more but some of them would go back to their spawn spots.

Took 3 sessions of about an hour each (I think).

I can confirm this still drops, though I had to kill a LOT of mobs to get it. Best bet is to start on the south side of the island and kill all the mobs around there, avengers AND nullifiers. Then travel east and circle around the island clockwise. When I started farming this, I only killed nullifiers and eventually reached a point where only avengers were spawned. If you kill everything, there will be more chances for respawns and will make the grind a bit easier.

This enchant is still very useful even at 80, since there is no defense to bracer enchant in WOTLK, only stats or stamina. For those tanks that are juggling gear/enchants/gems to keep defense capped, 12 def to bracer still does the trick. I have already sold a couple scrolls of this enchant, and since the mats arent too expensive, I will continue to do so.

FYI guys and girls I killed about 10 Ethereum Nullifier and 10 Ethereum Avenger (which is the mob nearby) and the formula didn't drop. I flew around spamming "/target Ethereum Jailor", low and behold found an Ethereum Jailor and it dropped on the first kill.

I'm sure this was in the patch notes somewhere and I missed it, but they appear to have dramatically upped the droprate for outland enchanting patterns. While sitting in LFR queue, I noticed that I was missing a bunch of older recipes from this toon I'd leveled in Wrath. In under 20 kills TOTAL (not even of each NPC), I got:

Formula: Enchant Weapon - Major Spellpower
Formula: Enchant Bracer - Spellpower
Formula: Enchant Cloak - Greater Shadow Resistance
Formula: Enchant Weapon - Major Intellect
and Formula: Enchant Bracer - Greater Dodge

Don't fear the farm, they're quick and painless now.

This enchant took me alot longer than any of the other enchants for some reason. I made several trips down to Netherstorm to farm it and made about 3-5 full rotations around Ultris picking up every Nullifier I saw. Took several days of doing this before it finally dropped. I was farming this simultaneously with the shadow resistance to cloak enchant since they are both in virtually the same place, so when the nullifiers weren't showing up, I would fly up to ultris and farm the voidshriekers. Still haven't gotten that enchant to drop, but have gotten about 3-4 primal shadows, so at least I am getting something out of it.

Over 200 kills on these guys according to my tooltip and still no drop yet a guildie of mine who isn't an enchanter had it drop for him while he was doing a quest. Needless to say I was steaming! ;(

Finally got it! 387 kills it took. The 6 mobs that drop it seem to start spawning a bit quicker after a few kills.

I killed one group of 3, then fly over some other mobs and kill the other 3. By the time I get back, generally under a minute for the first ones to spawn again. Got plenty of netherweave, cash & quite a few BOE greens to DE.

All up I think I made about 100g while farming for it. Was quite relaxing really :) (Although I would have been happier if it dropped off the 1st mob!)

This isn't a very hard grind. The mobs are easy to kill, and even easier with a flying mount as they're fairly spaced out. I only pulled aggro from the beasts a couple times, but it was easy to just run away looking for the next nullifier. Got it on my 61st kill, but I think that's probably good. i doubt the drop rate is really .21%, because it was changed in a patch. It's probably closer to .8% or something.

I've been grinding this for around 11 hours now, in 1 - 4 hour bite-sized chunks over the last few weeks.

Either:
this drop rate has been seriously nerfed;
I'm the most unlucky person alive;
only the people who have stumbled backwards and inadvertantly stuck this recipe up their additional bag slot have been posting on this thread.

But if I give up now, I'll have wasted 11 hours of my life! (lvl 70, so no xp, no faction for the mobs, and s**t all else of worth dropping - I know, I'm starting to feel guilty considering the sheer numbers of the poor buggers I've killed.)

Dropped from Ethereum Jailor at 65,32... first time I killed him... killed Nullifiers all around him, nothing... has alot more hps than any of the mobs around him, no special attacks that I saw.

OK, I just used up all my luck for the entire year. Nov 28th I farm Weapon: +40 spell, +30 Int, +20 agil...all three around 5 mins each...Nov 29th I get +12 def bracers on first kill.

Ok, I figured I would add my own hellish tale of getting this to drop. Night before last I spent 5 hours grinding on the Nullifiers, got lots of greens, 1 Key and more Netherweave than I know what to do with. But no formula. Last night, same deal, except I had help from a 70 Frost Mage and we must have killed 200 of the nullifiers, and even found 2 Jailors. Still no formula. Then, this morning I go up here to do the Daily for the Sunfury Attack Plans and decide to fly over and try it again for a while. And lo and behold, on the 2nd kill, here it is. So, if you are on the Norgannon server and need this done, look up Tyrannon.

Like Chocolatecreame, I just got mine from a jailer I decided to kill on a whim. Farmed researchers and nullifiers for about 30 minutes (about 30 or so kills) before getting it from the jailer. Was my evening, sort of. After farming for the spell damage to bracers chant for two evenings over about five hours (and finally getting it), I got the damage to weapon chant in six kills and this one in half an hour.

I got this drop at 69,42. I killed everything in the area around the big purple tower as there were no nullifiers when i got there. If you kill avengers they often respawn as nullifiers. I did this for half an hour. Then I had to log out for 20 mins. When I logged back in there were quite a few nullifiers in the area. Got it on the 5th nullifier.

My advice then is to stick to the area around the purple tower (the one at 68,39), kill everything, and u should get it within an hour.

Wow, ok first off this took me at least 300 kills over 4 days, competing with others grinding for it aswell. It finally dropped this morning off of what else but an ethereum nullifier, located approx at 68,41 near a huge pink column.

It was a good grind as others have stated, at least 100g in cash, green boe's and at least 15 ethereum prison keys which got me 15 boe greens, ID tags and 3 LPS.

I am happy this is over now, lets hope people need this enchant.

Took ages to get this compared to my previous 3 rare enchants. Only 6 mobs but they're in 2 groups of 3 which makes it easier, however the pats that respawn every minute are a real pain. Eventually got it after a week or so of popping in and doing a bit of farming, but I did grind enough cloth to reach 370 tailoring and a bunch of cash in the process.

well, i applaude blizz for making a lot of the profession formulas/recipes BoP, however, perhaps in increase in mob spawn would be in order...i mean a .5% drop rate and only 6 mobs total, and seeing as how they are quest guys as well, makes for a very difficult farm. anyways, just about to give it another go, up to 265 kills so far, and was actually wondering if this is even worth it? is +12 def sought after by tanks? thanks for the input!

When I've spent over a month at about an hour a day farming a formula I really think it's time for Blizzard to rethink drop rates on items like this. I want the pattern, but I'm getting angry with the game, not what Blizzard should want to happen. I guess as long as I keep playing they really don't care.

24 mob kills for me to get this thing. Much better than trying to get the greater intellect to weapon which took 126 kills. but my best was the shadow protection to cloak which was a blue drop...dropped on my 4th mob

I was also having major problems getting this drop, I spent 6 hours one day trying to work my way through the loot table, with several hundred kills, and no luck...:( It was major suckage to say the least.

Then I decided to wait until the server maintenance and scheduled reboot of the server...awesome decision; it dropped on my 6th Nullifier kill.

I have to say this is the crapiest drop rate in the whole game. I have spent nearly 7 hours total and still no drop. I got the +15 shadow resist enchant faster than this one. And whats up with only 6 spawn points?

I'm not sure what's worse, that my mage/enchanter is spending the hours to get this, or the fact that my pally needs it and when my mage gets it, the pally is still SOL, lol.

But yes, 2 that sit at the little roofs on the northmost side, one that pats between them there. And two more that are a bit to the south past the gladiator area.

At least now that I'm 70 I can just fly in and drop on them without aggroing other mobs. Maybe I'll just switch out between this and the Voidshriekers, but that is alot of time flying :P

Two days of farming the new spawn for about three hours a shot. Still haven't gotten my drop, but I've got my fingers crossed. Just reverified that they are dropping for other people. Not an easy/fast kill for a holy priest.

Update: It did... eventually... drop for me. So I guess persistance prevails. You can get it on the first drop, or the bizillionth (like me)

i killed 311 Ethereum Nullifier's and i wont even tell you how many hours that took and finaly got that enchant, the best place to find lots of them, if your lucky (at 4am ^_^) is at 61,50 thats near the cave called access shaft zeon. good luck for those that meeds it, thats a pain i will never go through again.

Been farming Nullifiers for a week.....1200+ kills and rising. I've even been killing Researchers whenever the Nullifiers are all dead. Found one Jailor so far....no Formula yet. Worst grind ever!

I confirm that you will, one day, loot it from an Ethereum Nullifier. I got mine today after 4 days of farming. This is one of the worst formula drop rates I've had to work with, if not the very worst. I hope you have patience!

I've been farming for 4 days on the nullifiers... It is a very difficult enchant to have drop. I've had to have killed over 1000 of these things already... Anyway, good luck, I'm still looking...

I think I was a little luckier than others. This dropped on kill 193. Also got the design for Solid Star of Elune along the way from a Nullifier. Sure paid itself off :)

3 hours, 8 greens, ~200 netherweave, few grey crap, several potions and around 20g no formula :|

1st edit.After another hour, more crap in bags... 2 Jailors spaw in one place... and one of them droped it... , good luck farming! :)

2nd edit. P.S. Dont forget to kill avengers too, they share spawn place.

This was a nightmare. I did this grind as a holy priest and even with the buff priests got in 2.3, it was still hard. I got it after about 400 kills. 32 keys, a lot of netherweave cloth and millions of greens. Also found a blue item - druid chest piece

Well I'm happy to report grinding in the area of 57,45 paid the dividend of the enchant eventually! I probably killed several hunder Nullifiers before it dropped. No blue, No greens, just silver and netherweave.... but hey, the enchant dropped. BTW, I broke it up over several days, doing just a couple hours each day. I brough a level 64 druid healer friend to help. She got XP and goods and I got healed. Win-Win. Good luck!

Ive killed over 9000 of these mobs and no drop ive spent 2 weeks farming it and nothing. I think the game hates me.

Got mine from the plateau south of Manaforge Ultris. There's a smattering of the nullifiers there mixed in with avengers. It only took me 5 kills or so to get the enchant. I guess I'm pretty lucky; I flew past all the avengers and only spent time killing nullifiers.

I got this formula to drop after about 50 kills. I also picked up the 4 of blessings which is awesome because im going for that deck. Guess i got really lucky

Tried farming for this on two separate days. Spent a few hours the first day and /ragequit. Came back a week later and got it in probably 10 kills. I got it off a Nullifier since I have yet to find where those silly jailors are hiding.

All the other BOPs took 1 to 4 nights tho

Found out today that this drops off Ethereum Nullifiers in netherstorm. It really wasnt bad as farming 15 spell dam or 40 spell dam, dropped after about 100 or so kills. You get alot of ethereum keys while doing this so its not too bad, also if your an enchanter you de the stuff into large pris which is a plus.

Dropped for me after 331 kills. Think I had some pretty bad luck here but this farm is definitely easier than the bracer spellpower one.

I followed the advice given in one of the other comments here. Just make circles killing Nullifiers and any Jailers (these drop guaranteed prison key) you see. If it starts getting hard to find more nullifiers just kill a bunch of the Avengers since they share the same spawns.

NOTE: DO THIS QUEST beforehand so you get a chance at looting keys while you do this farm. Will help you make some gold on the side (or Consortium rep). Only requirement is being Honored with the Consortium.

They share spawn with Avengers, so find a nice spot with either.
I used around 58,47.

Dropped on my 334th Nullifier kill. They share a spawn with the Ethereum Avengers, so it's not a bad idea to kill them as well.
