This appears to be the cross-profession ore, which will be used in certain recipes for most other professions, as well as regular old blacksmithing.

Beta information: Seems like the spawntime for the deposits in the garrison mine is around 50-60 minutes.

Once you finish the quest Things Are Not Goren Our Way in your Garrison Mine at 62.5:72.3 the mobs will disappear and you'll be able to go in and mine all the ore.

In your garrison mine, this does NOT require that you have mining as a profession. This item is required for the quest Your First Jewelcrafting Work Order.

Anyone have any ideas as to what to do with extra Blackrock Ore? I have nearly twice as much of it as I do True Iron.

This was quite a stupid move on Blizzard's part, removing the smelting system and instead putting it behind a system with a ONE DAY COOLDOWN... >.< Really?

Unfortunately, because of the mines, value for True Iron and Blackrock Ore on the auction house has been heavily reduced on many, if not most servers. Hopefully another ore will be added next patch or smelting returns, or the amount of ore from the mines is reduced a little so that those who make money by selling ore on the AH have something to sell. Having all that ore for yourself in the mines sure is helpful for proffessions, but as an Engineer, I find i've made everything i've needed to so far, and the fact it's so cheap on the AH and so much appears in my Garrison makes it a bit too commonplace. Seeing all the downvotes, I may just be speaking for myself, but I feel like there's an over-saturation of these ores, and it doesn't help for those looking to make a profit off of this expansions latest trade goods.

My suggestion to the folks in desperate need of a way to make money would be to run legacy raids and vendor all the items you find in there (save for anything you'd want to keep on your own). With Cata raids now easily soloable, you can make a couple hundred gold from one run of an 85 raid, along with any raid from previous expansions as well, or even MoP if you' can handle it. While you're soloing these old raids, it would also be a good idea to keep any battle pets you see, and cage them to sell on the AH. Battle Pets that are a part of the Raiding With Leashes achievement series usually fetch a couple thousand on the auction house, especially when it is from the current RWL tier of pets. However, on my server atleast, it seems that pets capped at 25 sell far more than the base lvl 1 pet does, so if you're willing to put in the time to power level these pets, you can make a lot more gold for your efforts. I'd say the extra mile is definitely worth your trouble if you have the same situation in your servers Auction House.

As I was doing some spring clearing, I looked for a dump, I think that your best bet is trading them for Primal spirit with the visiting trader in the garrison.
That's 125 for 25 primals, which trade for one blood, which has a dump that's 50g unit, making the blackrock worth about 40 silver, not great, but it beats vendoring them, and of course, if you only have a few, the trader has a quest with a better rate.

If you see it for less than 40s you can stock on it and when your Ore dealer (Alexi Hackercam | Trixxy Volt) visits exchange all of it (5 Blackrock Ore for 1 Primal Spirit)

125x Blackrock Ore > 25x Primal Spirit > 1x Savage Blood > Bloody Gold Purse > 50 Gold.

Some reminders and tips about Garrisons, because it has been a while since this was current content:

GARRISON MINE

You can easily gather a large amount of ore if you have multiple alts with a mine built in their Garrison. Just send your alts into their Garrison mines on a regular basis to gather ore from nodes & Mine Carts. Toons that don't have Mining as a profession WILL be able to gather the ore; they just won't see the nodes on the mini-map until they are inside the mine. Work Orders (which produce both Blackrock Ore and True Iron Ore) cost Draenic Stone x 5 each; you will gather that stone during the process of gathering the ore.

Benefits of Garrison mines with a higher rank:

More & better quality mining nodes
More Work Orders can be submitted
Fewer enemy mobs to kill
You can use the Architect Table to assign a Garrison follower Lantresor of the Blade to your mine, which will boost work order production

If any of these land in your bag, use them to speed up the Garrison mining process. (They only work in the Garrison mine):
Preserved Mining Pick This effect stacks with the buff from Peon's Mining Pick while inside your garrison mine.
Miner's Coffee gives 20% speed boost per stack (maximum 5 stacks)

Peon's Mining Pick allows you to mine the nodes faster regardless of whether your toon has Mining as a profession if you keep it in your bag. On a toon that doesn't have Mining, adding Peon's Mining Pick to my bag reduced the cast time per node from 3.3 seconds down to 1.6 seconds.

If you have already picked up the treasure previously then you'll be able to buy it from an NPC just outside the mine entrance Timothy Leens (A) / Gorsol (H)

Note: Yes, this pick can be equipped as a profession tool if the toon has Mining, however I noticed a bug. Sometimes when it's in your profession tool slot, the mining speed bonus won't work. If you move the pick to your bag and then put it back in the profession tool slot, you'll benefit from the bonus. Might be better to simply leave it in your bag.

TRADING POST BUILDING

If you have a Trading Post in your Garrison, you can trade Garrison Resources for profession materials. Garrison Resources are not Warband-transferrable. You'll need to visit your Garrison on a regular basis and click on the Garrison Cache to add them to your character's currency window. By default, the cache will max out at 500 but you can increase the limit to 1,000 by purchasing Trade Agreement: Arakkoa Outcasts from:

Different traders offer different deals (costs range from 16-40 ) so check back another day if you don’t like their prices.

These 2 NPCs sell everything for 24 : Tradesman Portanuus (A) / Tai'tasi (H)

VISITING SOMEONE ELSE'S GARRISON

If you don't have a Trading Post in your Garrison, you can ask a friend to let you visit theirs. You need to be in a party together with that person as the leader, then right-click on your party frame and click on "View Leader's Garrison" then go into their Garrison.

PRIMAL TRADER

You can trade Primal Spirit to the Primal Trader NPC "Appraiser" Sazsel Stickyfingers (H) / Ashley Zerep (A) in your Garrison for many materials that are needed to craft items.

GARRISON HERB GARDEN

You can easily gather a large amount of Draenor herbs if you have multiple alts with an Herb Garden built in their Garrison. Just send your alts into their Garrison gardens on a regular basis to gather herbs. Alts that don't have Herbalism as a profession WILL be able to gather the herbs. Work Orders (which produce additional Draenor herbs) cost Draenic Seeds x 5 each; you will gather these seeds during the process of gathering the herbs.

You can speak with an NPC at the garden Tarnon (H) / Naron Bloomthistle (A) and specify which herb you want to plant & gather from the Herb Garden, otherwise it will be a random selection of herbs:
