An attack does exactly as it says it does. Just stay spread out and make sure you kill the add asap. if more than 2 are up when you push phase transitions there will be a lot of damage going out risking wipe.

is there a range that you have to be at to be jumped at (say everyone w/i 4 meters does not get jumped at)?

a little late to comment, but no, the encounter scans your spec and will never attack a melee.

If a ranged class comes close he will still pounce them.
