It has been confirmed Dragon's Breath will not break on ignite procs, or fireball dots (or even Pyroblast dots at that matter). This is the 41 talent point for fire mages.

After using DB last night I'm going to have to say it's pretty much a useless talent. It's basically a fire version of cone of cold and since they share the same cooldown it's kind of pointless. Yes, you get a short duration stun debuff but it's so short it's not worth the trouble. There's not enough time to get off another spell to make it worth your while. Possibly the rank 3 and 4 versions may be more effective but we won't know until the expansion is released.

Agreed with ansepheth. I'm a shaman, and while duelling a fire specced mage who asked me to test out his Dragon's Breath, I found out that my grounding totem wouldn't stop this spell (but then again it can't stop Cone of Cold either, so that was pretty pointless).

And mind you, you can pull off a polymorph in those 3 seconds while he's stunned. Yes, you'll be healing him, but that's just another spell you can pull from your book to use against your enemy. Depends on your playing strategy.

Personally, I find this spell to be awesome in both PvE and PvP.

In PvE, I've used this for another spot of damage to finish off a mob while Fire Blast was down. Plus, this becomes very mana efficient with two or three mobs on you, as it stuns all of them, provided you face the things you're fighting. That stun opens up a head start wen running, a flamestrike for more fun, or many other things. My second favorite spell, topped only by Scorch. The fact that it's instant makes Fire Mages the absolute AoE kings with Blast Wave and the like.

In PvP, it's a stun, an interrupt, and a decent damager all in one. Use it when your frost nova's on cooldown! Use it when your Counterspell's on cooldown! Use it to make your opponents say "OMG he's Fire!" before you deliver a fireball crit to his face!

Hell, I use this thing in RP. Why light a candle with a small flame when you can impress your friend by igniting the whole table? Get out of interrogation with a Breath in the face followed by Invis!

My GOD I love this spell.

This is actually pretty sweet for PVE mages too that are hitting up Serpentshrine and Tempest Keep. Alot of fights in those dungeons require AOE from Mages and Warlocks. This is ideal if things start to go south, it stuns them just long enough for an AOE taunt to pick them up, or for another wave of AOE to kill them.

This is actually a pretty great spell. It does about the same, if maybe a little less damage than fireball. Also, it renders your opponent harmless for a few seconds. I typically use this advantage to use evocation, bandages, and potions. On top of that, it does the same damage to all units in front of it, making it a great AoE attack.

Another slight PvE use:

In some situations, like grouping with the guy new to tanking, or you happen to make the mistake of aggroing something you shouldn't have, this is a decent "Oh sh**!" button. It gives enough time for someone to yell "aggro!" and have the tank run back and pick it up.

If you've got the talent point to spare (I moved a point from Frost Channeling in my FFB build), it's a handy thing to have, even for raiding mages. It's also a bit more predictable than aiming a Blast Wave knockback.

I'm a new mage and I sadly learned that only frost mages get water elemental. And that is their 41 point talent. So I'm like ok, then my 41-pointer will be just as cool. When I ding 50, I get excited to see what I can learn, and this is it...bummer.

BTW, when I level a new spec, I don't look ahead to talents I can't learn yet, just for excitement's sake.

Unlimited amount of helpful situations this spell applies to. For the few (but respected imo) players that play fire in PvP: USE THIS ON MORE THAN ONE PERSON AND WHENEVER IT'S UP... I can't stress enough how helpful it is to get a full fireball off when theyre incapacitated when your usual attack is scorch-n-run. Dont be afraid to hit more than one person.. You can consider this a CC in some cases

Seeing allot of hate here :p
couple of things to keep in mind:

You need it for Living Bomb, so you should get it anyway :p
It disorients, so its great for kiting as fire or to interupt spellcasts
The disorient effect is long enough so you can get a pyroblast in (if you start casting it as soon as the GCD is up)
Its yet another AOE, a good one too seeing as the damage aint that bad

Enough reasons to get it methinks :D

I've noticed this seem to drop combat sometimes, possibly when I've managed to hit mobs that I hadn't otherwise attacked. Can anyone confirm?

If you're into adding boss voices to your spells for more effect when casting them, the best spell to use with this simply has to be Flameweaver Koegler's catchphrase for his own casting of Dragon's Breath; "Breath of the Dragon!" (In addition to some cool whooshing noises behind his voice). All you have to do is create a macro, and fill the box with this:

/cast Dragon's Breath
/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\Flameweaver Koegler\\VO_SH_SPELLMASTER_SPELL_01.wav")

PS: I've found versions of this macro which mispell his name. Be careful when typing the "gl" of his name!

Glyphed, this has been a powerful spell for fire mages in Warlords. But with the removal of glyphs, per se, it will go back to being a fantastic utility spell in Legion.

Good-bye super scorching cone of fire to the face of all and sundry. Adds, at least, will still feel its wrath. :)

Logically, you would think those affected by this would be stunned. I don't think anyone would still be conscious after smelling the breath of a dragon.

DoT damage does not break the disorient. Despite Legion changing the tooltip, only direct damage or damaging procs will break the effect early.

Do note that Conflagration's Flare-up effect will break the disorient.
