It has no CD nor cost, but it does have charges. Maximum charge is 2~~, and each has a separate 15-20 second recharge time.~~ and charges start regenerating when you use first one.

roll will only increase your speed if you are on the ground. if you activate roll mid-air, the distance traveled will be reduced.

If you use roll and it carries you off of a ledge, then you will maintain roll-speed until you hit the ground.

I don't know if this is intended or not but...
If you of some reason would like to Roll without traveling very far, you can use whatever button you got keybound to walking to slow it down significantly!
This is also works with Flying Serpent Kick

Please note you can also roll backwards by moving backwards while casting Roll. This is a handy trick if you need to escape without rolling into more enemies.

Avoid casting Roll while you jump, the height will also count as travel distance and considerably shorten the distance you roll. Roll will also stop if there is anything in the path that you couldn't run through such as a fence. Also, be careful not to Roll off cliffs (such as the poor Monk that accidentally rolled off the ledge in Dire Maul East).

Roll can also be used to travel faster through water, but if you are near the bottom it might also roll alongside the ground instead of straight through the water.

~~For Brewmasters, you can Roll (preferably backwards) and cast Clash immediately after to stun the target. If you pick the target farthest back, you can usually stun an entire group this way.~~ (WoD: Clash has been removed.)

Unfortunately, having Roll does not improve your chances at rolling for items.

Angelic Feather and

(or is there any others?) are similar.
so can anyone explain what's the cd of these "2/3 charges" system spells? (the cd of Angelic Feather, Demonic Gateway, Double Time and Clemency are clear)

For leveling, I'd say the best one of the first 3 talents is Momentum. The best way to use it is keeping the 25% boost buff for 8-9,5 seconds and then using Roll again to keep the buff for another 10 seconds, this time at 50% increased movement speed.

If you tap the button to walk backwards and let go almost simultaneously with casting Roll (let go an instant before the cast) you will roll in a forward direction while the animation will be rolling backwards.

You roll in the direction your character is moving, not facing. So if you are facing forward but strafing left, you will roll to the left and pop up still facing forward.

On that note: After every roll if you do not immediately cast or move your character will pop up and assume a fighting stance with arms raised for a brief moment.

This makes Monk a great bank alt class.Only need to level 5 (10 minutes)so your bank alt can roll twice to the mailbox with his minor speed boot enchant!

Unlike Linken, trying to roll right before impact of a fall will still make you lose hearts.

You can toggle walk to make your Roll and Flying Serpent Kick travel a tiny distance, in order to still be within melee range of your enemies - good for making FSK do it's aoe damage fast and Roll's Retreat glyph or Chi Torpedo damage without losing melee range.

Rather than bringing you forward a set amount of yards, Roll increases your speed to 275% and forces you to move (roll) in the direction you're currently moving in, or forward if you're standing still, for a very short amount of time.

Because of this, any movement speed increasing effects that stack with other effects will cause you to roll further. Thus a Windwalker monk will roll slightly further since the 10% bonus from Tiger stance stacks with other movement speed bonuses, increasing your rolling speed from 275% to 302,5%.

~~Though it isn't mentioned in the tooltip~~, Chi Torpedo increases your Torpedo speed to 300%, or 330% with Tiger Stance.

Interestingly enough, when transformed into a Hyldnir or Brunnhildar female this causes you to perform a standing leap instead of the roll you usually do.

Is it just me, or did they stealth-nerf the distance you roll in 5.2? It feels like I don't roll as far anymore, and there is no trace of changes in the patch notes.

Just found another variation of the roll effect when polymorphed into something else (in this case as a Noblegarden Bunny). When my monk used Roll when in bunny form, she just lifted slightly off the ground and shot forward very quickly.

15 yards is what I would guesstimate the roll distance to be at 100% movement speed.

Can't believe it doesn't say on the tooltip or even in the comments section but Roll has a 20 second cooldown with 2 charges.
Also it's modified to 15 seconds by Celerity which also gives you an extra charge making it a total of 3 charges.

If you lag you will not stop Rolling when you use the ability. Be careful if you have bad MS when using this.
