Was there anything in the prize at the end and I just missed it? Nothing in my chat log, I just want to make sure that I don't vendor something that was special.

For hunting down clues (the arrows):
They give you a vague direction and coordinates, when you click on them. e.g: EAST (16,-2)
You can the re-equip the Thinking Cap (use the toy again) to calibrate it to (0,0) and when you mouseover the buff of the cap, you can see, where you are right now.
First number is: West(-) / East (+)
Second Number is North(+) / South (-)

So (16,-2) is 16 to the east and 2 to the south.

It is fairly easy to find all the arrows then.

First Clue: 26.6 54.1 at the wall near Fangli Hoot
Second Clue: 10.0, 56.3 on the floor in front of a bookshelf
Third Clue: 39.9, 64.5 on a create
Fifth Clue: 36.2, 71.2 on the floor in front of the Alchemist's Lab Bench
Sixth Clue: 44.1, 58,8 on the roof of the AH
Seventh Clue: 38.0, 49.2 On the floor near the Obsidian Guardian
Eight Clue: 55.2, 43.3 enter of the Seat of the Aspects → at the first fire on the left side
Last Clue: 64.7, 53.7 beneath the waterfall

The clue in the seat of the aspects is not up top and is not even fully inside the lower building. It's in the entrance corridor. I spent forever looking up top and inside. Just hope to save someone else some time.

I'm not sure if this was a 'me' problem or if this secret was hotfixed but I tried to go straight to the last clue under the waterfall and nothing showed up for me. I had to go around and physically click on each of the arrows in order before the treasure would show up for me to loot.

I find the arrow at the daycare, it leads me to the blacksmith, then it leads me underneath some Emerald Wyrm's butt with nothing near it.
So had to come here to find the "Eigth" clue. Could we get a spellchecker please? This is at least the 3rd or 4th typo in this event alone.

For those of you that are silly like me, the last coordinates led me to over by Tyrhold where I couldn't for the life of me find the waterfall everyone's talking about.

You stay inside Valdrakken, it's the area right above the bank!

I'm not sure i did this right.

On each clue i read, it has a location of where to go, plus some numbers, which appeared to be co-ordinate numbers relative to your current location, so you add those numbers (or subtract) to your current co-ordinates, and you have your next location. I went from the pickup point, to the day car, to the blacksmith, and the clue at the blacksmith lead me directly to clue 8 and the treasure.

Did anybody else have that happen?

Looting the treasure bag at the end was bugged for me - I would loot it and wouldn't get credit for the quest. If that's happening to you and you're in a party, just leave the party and try again!

Doing The Tricked-Out Thinking Cap with or without coordinates

Quest giver Fangli Hoot is located in a round building at the west end of the lower Artisan's market. (26.9, 53.9) TomTom

Put on the Tricked-Out Thinking Cap

Find the Tricked-Out Thinking Cap in the Toy tab and put in on an action bar. Click. Your character appears to be wearing the cap, but your regular helm is equipped in the Character Pane.
Look for a Thinking cap buff near the top right of the screen . To "remove" the cap, click. To "wear" it again, click the icon for the cap on your action bar.
The Cogs-Bolts coordinates are now displayed in yellow at the top center of the screen. You can also see the coordinates if you mouseover the Thinking cap buff.

This quest uses a "Cogs-Bolts coordinates system. :( not user-friendly, unnecessarily complicated ):

The coordinates are relative to the last arrow. When you reach an arrow, the coordinates reset to ( 0,0 ). New coordinates are generated for the location of the next arrow.
Write down the coords of your next destination.

Example: Using the Cogs-Bolts coordinates in Fangli's Clue

Fangli's Clue Next arrow: WEST Where little Wyrms and Whelps go. (-24, -6)
The coordinates for the next arrow are expressed relative to Fangli's position at (0,0).
(-24,-6) (west/east)	(-24,-6) (north/south)
Anything west of of the starting point is negative	Anything south of of the starting point is negative
So the Little Scales Daycare is SW of Fangli Hoot. Compare the default game coordinates: (10, 56). Default game coordinates are based on the zone map. The west/east coordinate and the north/south coordinate range from 1 to 100. The center of any map is (50, 50). Coords of (10, 56) mean the Little Scales Daycare is close to the western edge of the map and a little more than half way down from the top of the map.

If you're interested in using the default game coordinates system:

Download a basic coordinates add-on from CurseForge. Coordinates for your location will always be visible.
TomTom displays your present coordinates. And it allows you to mark many locations at the same time -- as green dots on the zone map. TomTom works well with the Paste add-on. Paste allows you to copy a list of coordinates from Wowhead and paste them into TomTom.

If you hate coordinates, or hate the Cogs-Bolts coordinate system devised for the Secrets of Azeroth quest series -- do the quest by going to the locations described in the clues. Look for other players coming and going.

The Quest
Find gold metal arrows. These are plaques stuck to walls, pavement, objects, buildings. Don't look at the mini-map, the locations won't be shown as yellow dots or arrows.

You'll be sent to 8 locations. There is an arrow at each location. Click on the arrow to see a "clue" that directs you to the next location. The clue will display a general description of the location and the Cogs-Bolts coordinates. There are no rewards until you get to the last arrow.

Completion
Although the Eighth Clue says you've completed the puzzle, you must turn in the quest to Fangli Hoot. Otherwise, you won't be able to see the next quest in the series.

Just hope to save someone else some time. The arrow is embedded in the floor of the ground level entry way to the Seat of the Aspects -- near a brazier. The in-quest coordinates will take you to the roof of the Seat of the Aspects -- no arrow.	Click the arrow to see the Seventh Clue.
Seventh Clue	Travel to the Emerald Enclave in SE Valdrakken. Don't look for a cave. Look for an outdoor park marked by green banners. There are two waterfalls. The arrow is on the rock wall at the base of the high water fall.	Click to see the Eighth Clue.
Eighth Clue	Click on the arrow to complete the puzzle. Pick up the loot bag.
