Spawns in your garrison mine after upgrading the mine to level 2. I got about 9 or so Mine Carts spawn.

It's also worth noting that you can loot 1-3 Draenor Clans Archaeology Fragment, Arakkoa Archaeology Fragment or Ogre Archaeology Fragment from the Mine Cart.

Their respawn is odd. Once I've cleared the mine of nodes and carts and run back to entrance, 2-5 more carts have usually spawned.

I've verified that these spawn independently of the daily reset, and continue to spawn throughout the day.
It seems they're going for the illusion that all of the goblins in your mine are actually doing something after all!

After having my level 100 mining follower inside the mine at all times for the last week, I notice absolutely 0 difference in anything. Same amount of carts, same amount of yield from everything, including work orders.

The past 2 days (since Nov 25 2014) I've only had 2-3 mine carts each day in my lvl 2 mine, both with and without a follower assigned to it.
Anyone else notice this stealth nerf?

There are now up to 4 mine carts in a mine and they spawn approximately 24 hours after you picked them up last. One cart will spawn in each section of the mine. The entryway, and each of the 3 shafts. If you have a lvl 2 you get 3 a day and if you have a lvl 3 you get 4 a day.

"Carts showing up without a follower parked is a bug on our end. The carts are bonus you get based on having a Mining follower parked at the Mine. We reduced the overall number of carts but increased the amount of loot you get from each one. Thanks for the questions!"

There is one particularly difficult cart to see (on the days it spawns) because it's nearly buried in the wall. LOC 46.5 - 78.9

* You can see that LOC on the map above; it's way down in the SW part of the mine that looks kinda like a horseshoe lying on its side. If you don't turn to look at it as you go by it's easy to miss.

Current as of 6.1

Miner's Coffee and Preserved Mining Pick drop from Mine Carts in your Lunarfall Excavation / Frostwall Mines Level 2 or Lunarfall Excavation / Frostwall Mines Level 3 with a follower assigned and working. Each Mine Cart randomly contains only one of them. You will never get both items nor will you ever get more than one of either. There is one Mine Cart in each wing (along with 4/5 nodes):
1. Central Entrance Area (with stairway Lunarfall Excavation / Frostwall Mines Level 1 has 4 nodes plus occasionally one extra.),
2. Left Mine Shaft (Lunarfall Excavation / Frostwall Mines Level 1 has 4 nodes),
3. Right Mine Shaft (Lunarfall Excavation / Frostwall Mines Level 2 has 4 nodes),
4. Central Mine Shaft (Lunarfall Excavation / Frostwall Mines Level 3 has 5 nodes).
So, the Lunarfall Excavation / Frostwall Mines Level 2 has 3 Mine Carts (12 nodes) and, the Lunarfall Excavation / Frostwall Mines Level 3 has 4 Mine Carts (17 nodes). It is always random and some days you will get 4xMiner's Coffee and others you will get at least one Preserved Mining Pick. Since the patch 6.1, the buff time on Miner's Coffee is now 3 minutes (down from 10 minutes and will not last throughout), along with the fact that it is a stackable buff => it is 3 times more likely to be contained in the Mine Carts than the Preserved Mining Pick

Miner's Coffee and Preserved Mining Pick are to help reduce your daily stay in the mine:

Miner's Coffee has a sell price and stacks to 20. It's buff Miner's Coffee adds 20% to your run speed while in the mine, and stacks up to 5 times for a total of an additional 100%. The Miner's Coffee buff lasts 3 minutes (not long enough to finish your mining).

Preserved Mining Pick has a sell price and stacks to 20. It's buff Preserved Mining Pick reduces your cast time (channeling) while mining a node to 1.5 seconds (down from 3 seconds).
The Preserved Mining Pick and Peon's Mining Pick now stack (as of 6.1) and reduce your channeling time to a negligent .2 seconds ... basically immediate. The time for (SHFT+Click) auto-looting takes much longer than the mining itself.

These seem to spawn with the daily reset instead of 24 hours after looting as of 6.1, for the horde side at least

BUILDING/ZONE	REQUIREMENTS/PLANS	CONTAINS
Level 1, Zone (A/H)	Level 92 + Quest (A/H)	Only contains mining nodes.
Level 2, Zone (A/H)	No level requirement. Quest Chain (A/H) + Plans (A/H)	Mine Carts (spell) become active.* More mining nodes and more work orders.
Level 3, Zone (A/H)	Level 100 + Achievement + Plans (A/H)	More mining nodes and more work orders.

*Despite the tooltip, you currently do not need to have any follower assigned to have access to Mine Carts.
This means the only current benefit to having a follower with the Mining trait assigned to your mine is higher work order yields (affected by follower level).

OTHER INFORMATION

The ability to mine ore within these garrison mines does not required the Mining profession.
The only benefit to having the Mining profession is the ability to mine ore OUTSIDE of your garrison. (Same goes with Herbalism).

The preserved mining pick drop has been significantly reduced. The logic I guess is that there is something to be learned/gained by spending more time pounding rocks! Coffee is still dropping around 60% or more.

As of now, I always get four mining carts in my level three mines.

Western tunnel.

Eastern tunnel.

Southern tunnel.

Northen tunnel.

In a level two mine you'll get three carts, as the western tunnel isn't unlocked yet.

Level 1 mines doesn't have carts, having followers assigned to the mine doesn't affect the carts.

With four carts you'll should be getting enough mining picks to always have one when mining in your garrison.

And go and pick up Archeology on any alt that has a mine as that's just free fragments you'll be missing out on otherwise.
