Tin is a little tricker to find, you can find more if you include a circut around the barrens, as well as the thosand needles, just start at ogrim, go down the right side to thousand needles, do a round of thousand needles, and back up right side of barrens, this will give you iron, tin, and copper

You can, apparently, not mine nodes in friendly caves. Example: The cave in Hillsbrad with alliance friendly NPCs has tin nodes but I (Draenei) can't mine it.

Although Ashenvale is said (according to map) to have most Tin Veins, I cannot recommend this for farming since the terrain is awful!

Barrens or Hillsbrad is by far better options imo.

redridge is by far the best for farming tin ore. Up in the caves they respawn very fast.

Definitely the best place for mining tin is Jangolode mine in Westfall. It's woorth going there even if you are Horde. You can mine about 120 tin from all veins there and the first will respawn before you get to the last.

I actually like to mine tin in loch modan when i'm just starting out on tin. Its fairly low level and theres a decent amount behind Ironbands Compound and a bit north of there. I do the quests in the little night-elf hunting lodge up there, too - good place if you're level 18-ish.

Note in Westfall, you'll probably see one as you walk on top of The mine that The Defias Messenger walks out of, it is not inside the mine. It is a glitch, this dot has been there for a while and there is no Tin Vein there.

If you travel north of Astranaar along the hills near the furbolg camp you'll find a couple copper, tin, and silver veins there that respawn pretty fast.

Keep in mind, the nodes on these maps aren't as any as there really are.

When checking Wowhead maps, look for clutters of them. As in a small section you'll see about 2-5 nodes, when really there are only 0-1 there when playing.

I know this page is for the tin veins, but I thought I'd report my findings, in any case.

If you're looking for tin ore, a great place to find it is within The Deadmines. There are veins inside the instance, and outside with all the non-elites (few, I know), but even better are the miners both in and outside the instance. Many of the miners drop anywhere between 2 - 5 tin ore. It's better to be higher level to do this so they're more easy to kill and the run through is nice and fast (and lucrative!)

I found nearly no tin veins in the barrens all i found was copper so if you want copper come to the barrens but if you want tin find some other place

While Barrens and Needles have the largest number of recorded nodes, you will find it easier and more efficient to farm Hillsbrad. You can more or less circle around the outskirts and pull a full bag in a few hours. Also of note is that some of the northernmost tin veins are on the Alterac Mountains map, however that zone is predominately filled with Iron. You will only find tin in the lower-most areas between the Nazes the east and southwest of the the Dalaran crater.

Posts tell me that farming tin in redridge is great for low levels. I've heard guildies tell me that redridge is good for farming tin. Well my luck is, it dont work.

yep there is tin on the bloodmyst island, did mine some on my shaman drenai alt. Think they was mostly in the higher lvl range of the island, you know there the 18+ mobs were.

Can anyone confirm if the nodes in and around the Azurelode Mine in Hillsbrad Foothills are Alliance only? I'm in there now, and I can see the sparkles that show where the node should be, but I can't see it and it doesn't show up on my map.

tin, in of itself, isnt very useful but smelting it into bronze when copper is at hand can be a valuable source of money. full stacks will rake in up to 6 gold if sold at the AH. the Redrige Mountains are a great place to mine masses of it. and same goes for Duskwood. the veins are often in very high density among the cliffs and caves of these areas.

Lokiskye's Tin Ore Mining Tips

1. Get an epic mount ( It REALLY helps ).
2. Get your Mining Pick and empty bags.
3. Run (Fly if you're Horde) beneath Camp Taurajo
4. Run around in a big circle Mining EVERYTHING you can see, because if you mine a Copper Vein mabye it will spawn a Tin Vein there in a few miniutes instead :).
5. My Spot is from : 47. 84 (The Dwarf digging camp) after that one i run to the right on the map where you'll see alot of those euhm.. Pigs? yeah walking "pigs"... I just run close to the mountains and when i see a Copper Vein/Tin Vein/Silver Vein i pick it up, then run back to the Digging camp again. And this is my circle :)

At 27.9, 11.9 there is a Copper or Tin vein on top of a mountain in Redridge, and I don't think there is a way to get to it I think. So don't even bother.

For me, the real "gold mine" of Tin comes in the Wetlands. Be prepared though, if you're farming here for Bronze Bars, there's nearly no copper where I'm taking you. This is strictly Tin, Silver, and the occasional Iron you might not be able to use yet if you're starting a new miner.

-Start at Whelgar's Excavation (36,45) and make a round there. Starts out slow, you'll only find one or two here.
-Next, head to Angerfang Encampment, at 43,41. You'll want to make a quick right once inside, to spiral up to the overlook into Whelgar's, then back down into the encampment. As you pass through the orcs, run a zigzag path, as the borders to this run are quite wide, and make some of the more far reaching veins a bit easy to miss if youre not careful. You shouldn't have to leave the high road for more than a couple of veins, though.
-Keep following the encampment all the way to the back (53,55) towards Nek'rosh. You can ride over the southern hills here to find a couple more veins. Follow this small valley to your right, and find Thelgen Rock.
-Thelgen Rock is the real mine, here. There's usually one or two nodes outside, and a ton inside. Be sure to grab and destroy the Incendicite Ore as you run, as it does seem to be a placeholder for more tin veins. Make a full run through the cave, and back out.
-From here, I basically follow the southwestern wall around to the southeast, up the eastern ridge, until I hit Raptor Ridge (67,40). Go up and into the hills here, again making a zigzag path to catch the wide borders. Go into the cave towards the center. This is where you'll start to see a mix of tin and Iron, maybe the occasional gold/silver. After you're run through the cave, take a left out of it, and follow the wall until you hit the road coming out of Grim Batol, and head straight west. Follow the path back to Whelgar's, and repeat.

It sounds longer than it actually is, and the tin veins can be a little thin at times due to overwhelming iron in places, but if you're mining's high enough, grab the iron veins too, as they seem to be placeholders as well. With the lack of copper here, the bagspace and good mix of tin/silver definitely makes up for the long walk.

What I usually do is just run into Deadmines and get the tin up to the third or fourth boss, turn around, exit from the entrance, and reset and do it all over again. It's a pretty good return rate. I'd suggest doing this at a high level if you're just farming. In a situation of 5 runs, 3 out of those 5 the tin was in the same spot so getting it was even easier. Again, a personal favorite and excellent return rate.

Why has no one mentioned Beren's Peril?

Beren's Peril is a cave in southern Silverpine that almost always has tin in it. It's not big enough for major grinding, but it only has tin spawns in there and there's tons of nodes considering the small size of the cave.

It's worth heading in there if you're in the area, if only because there's absolutely no copper in there and you may need to balance your numbers to have less left over after smelting.

If you're on a lowbie, trying to mine tin to get your professions past your level, the cave is filled with level 20 undead so watch yourself.

I did Redridge Mountains, Hillsbrad Foothills, Wetlands, and Duskwood, and for me Duskwood had the most tin, but maybe thats just me.......

If you're low-level Alliance (14-20) and wanting to mine tin and copper for making bronze, eastern Loch Modan seems to work well. Basically, cross the dam and make a loop cutting through the Mo'Grosh Stronghold (might as well stock up on wool while there!) down the eastern edge around the Farstrider Lounge, across the hills and up across the eastern edge of Ironband's Excavation, around the small mountain north of Ironband's, then up and across the perimeter of Mo'Grosh, ending just south of the dam. This can be repeated as long as you have space in your bags. The threat from mobs is far less worrisome at teen levels than Redridge or Hillsbrad.

I spent a couple of hours leveling mining from scratch last night with the new 4.0.3a patch. I found plenty of tin in Silverpine Forest as well as Hillsbrad Foothills. If you stick around the base of the Alterac mountains and surrounding areas, you shouldn't have trouble finding tin. The respawn rates were especially high for me in the Foothill Caverns, the cave with the yetis.

The Ruins of Alterac are now a paradise for herbalism and mining in the 65-150 skill range! You can't walk ten feet without stumbling over a tin vein or frozen herb.

Hillsbrad Foothills is a great place to farm Tin, now. Making full circles around the area, as well as running through the Yeti cave will net you gobs of the stuff.

Since cata came out the best place I found to mine for tin is in Northern Stranglethorn. There is a buttload of veins everywhere and you can get it for the alliance or horde. Just run around and you will constantly run into them.

I find that Alterac Mountains is the place to get Tin now. If you head up to where the yetis are and keep going toward the cliff overlooking the lake near where Dalaran used to be, on the West side, there are plenty of tin nodes that spawn just running up and down that ledge. Sometimes they even spawn in as silver nodes, which is an added bonus.

I myself am a skinner, and these yetis are also high respawn and high density, so I'd also recommend it as a place to level up skinning. Mobs are about 24-25.

It would seem now that Ashenvale is the place to go for Tin. Just want to add my numbers in one lap around Ashenvale.

The best territory to mine tin is The Barrens. It is close to the hordes, but alliance can get there pretty fast too. Stormwind fly to Booty Bay then with a boat to Ratchet and there you go.

IF YOU ARE HERE BECAUSE YOU NEED COARSE STONE/TIN ORE, PLEASE READ THIS!

I found out that Darrow Hill (In the cave) In Hillsbrad is wonderful for not only farming the tin veins but is also great for skinning, as the yetis are plentiful and has short respawn times. To compliment this area, if you stay for a nice while you might find some rares/greens, I was lucky enough to get Blackfang. I hit 150 mining in 25 minutes and came back later to continue.

I went to Ashenvale as people recommended for the Tin Ore.

I used gathermate2 with imported data to see the spawn points, I also picked up any herbs that were in my path but didn't go out of my way to collect them.

I noticed all the nodes (herbs and ores) were in bunches of 3-4 possible spawn points, and 1 point would contain a node every time.

It took 33 minutes as a tauren druid to do a lap of the whole zone, with bountiful bags and a level 25 guild and here is what I collected:

4 x Rough Stone

2 x Shadowgem
4 x Moss Agate

As of some point in MoP (didn't notice when), it can be mined with Mining level 1. Also, Hillsbrad is still awesome for it.

for some reason now you can mine tin at skill point 1 rather then at 50. i did that rather then start with copper and i was able to power lvl my mining a bit

I was very confused about this. According to wowhead Ice Cold Milk can be mined from a tin vein. I thought this was pretty funny. I would like to know if anyone actually got an Ice Cold Milk out of a tin vein.

One thing I really like about Hillsbrad for farming Tin/Silver is that there are not only A LOT of nodes to farm from in a relatively small area (Ruins of Alterac area), but they also have fast respawn rates. There is a cave around 50, 26 that has 4-5 nodes (and almost always a silver one, it seems), and I did one small loop around the inside of the ruins, and by the time I came back like 5-10 minutes later, every node had respawned in the cave. If you need to farm cloth, then it's a double bonus, as the Ogres tend to drop silk/wool (though not in great amounts, but still... you're getting a 2 for 1 here).

I jumped on my miner and decided to time different zones and different routes in order to get the most amount of ore. Keep in mind I am a HORDE DRUID, and flight/aquatic form helps out drastically with gathering ore. There are other items you can obtain through mining, however I'll be just stating the main ore.

Each zone was timed for 10 minutes.

The links above seem to be broken. Three days now I've tried clicking on Hillsbrad Foothills or Ashenvale or Redridge Mountains, or any of them to no avail. I just get a message at the bottom about some script. I hope this isn't so old that Perculia or someone doesn't see this. Those links are very helpful to take us to maps that show where in those zones the ore has been found in the past. Thanks for all your hard work with these web pages, Perculia and team.
